Infinite worlds. Extreme danger. One fearless woman.
Passerina Fowler just wants to be a professional fighter. She has struggled for years to make a name for herself. But then her life abruptly changes when she’s discovered by a recruiter from SafeTrek Bridging, a company that transports clients to alternate versions of Earth. With nothing to lose, Passerina accepts a job as a bridger, an elite … lose, Passerina accepts a job as a bridger, an elite fighter who protects clients on excursions to alternate worlds. However, on her first day she witnesses a horrifying event and realizes bridging can be downright deadly.
In spite of the risks, she is determined to complete her training program. But she soon realizes the training is more focused on her fears than her strength and endurance. And for good reason—there is much to be feared when bridging to alternate worlds naked and unarmed. Passerina must steadily transform herself into a bridger, with a new name: Infinity.
Infinity grows impatient for the excitement and danger of her first bridging excursion. But when it finally comes, she finds herself in a world of vicious predators, and the danger becomes all too real.

The adventure of this book grabbed me right away. The lead is a woman with no hope for a better future. Her life is a fight for survival from her street smarts to her MMA goals she grabs any chance to improve her situation. She is a woman of few words, lets her actions impress everyone she interacts with. This prequel had me racing for the next book. Here is a heroine who crawls from the streets and (hopefully) beats her way into a brighter future. Oh yeah, throw in parallel earths and unbelievable landscapes, animals and life and death situations too.
Great action and interesting characters. Very entertaining.
Engrossing
This was a truly excellent read. The female protagonist was well written and original. The plot was exciting and unpredictable. Not my usual genre of books but wonderful choice.
This book is probably one of the best if not the best in the series. It kept me interested throughout with surprises, suspense and excellent character development.
Mr Smith really has an incredible imagination. Some authors trying to explain their imaginary worlds can’t get their point across or hopelessly confuse you. Mr Smith does not suffer from this problem. This is a great series of books that are not your run-of-the-mill science fiction. Currently I am on #5 and I have greatly enjoyed all the books.
Wow, what a great story. Thanks to Mr. Smith for offering this Free prequel. I can’t wait to move on into this series.
Question: What gives one purpose in life?
Having read all the other books in this series, it was refreshing to go back and to discover the actual beginnings for our lead character, Infinity. This adventure is somewhat more realistic although just as deadly and paves the way for more extreme and creative creatures to come. This is obviously Stan Smith’s forte. The will and adaptability to survive is a recurrent theme. This story better informs us as to why anyone, especially Infinity, would choose to endanger him or herself and take up the challenges of the unknown while protecting others. Life couldn’t be any stranger than in the creative imagination of Stan Smith. This was a good read and helped to fill in the gaps – though not really necessary but very satisfying.
I received an ARC and this is my honest and voluntary review.
No spoilers…. I started reading the Bridger’s series and was excited to see Passerina’s beginnings with this installment (you can call it a prequel, but really it can stand alone). Stan C. Smith has nailed the complexity of what makes Infinity tick. If you just want a taste of his writing without committing to cliffhanger series, look no further, you won’t be disappointed! Looking forward to Bridger’s 5!
“I’m afraid of living my whole life without being a part of something important.”
Infinity Fowler
A wonderful and amazing insight of Infinity’s life before and when she became a Bridger, an elite fighter who protects clients bridging to alternate versions of Earth. Perseverance, resilience, fast thinking define her instincts for survival. A combative and strong will attitude help her survive the unyielding and dangerous environment with its deadly and extraordinary predators. Excitement, action packed and edge of seat, nerve wrecking and heart pounding situations guaranteed! The world building is so realistic, it’s hair raising!
I received an early version of this book from the publisher and my review is entirely voluntary.
What if someone had made a different decission? What if all those alternative worlds exist? What if you could go and look see?
An alternate worlds survival story using characters with mixed martial arts background.
It kept the reader intrigued
Interesting Sc-Fi concept – instead of time travel it’s alternate universes.
An interesting concept but should Have moved along faster since the heroes only made one trip. The idea that she would go on such a trip without any protection was a little over done
Rather strange. Kept getting weirder.
This was a wonderful surprise. I did not know what to expect and got imaginative expression of physics and adventure.
This is a good start, but just as I was really getting into it the book ends. I would say this is more like a draft, it needed more fleshing out. Everything happened so fast in this book, I wish it was drawn out just a teeny bit more to get more invested in the characters. As a quick, easy read I do have to say I did enjoy it.
I love reading to escape the day to day life. This book is great reading for that with likeable characters. Loved the premise of the book and the worlds visited.
I took a real liking to the main character and her buddy. The action was too dangerous for my taste.
