‘Infatuated’ by Cara Wade is the first book in the Black Stallion ranch series. It is a book about teenage first love, and if you like cowboy/ranch style romances this one will be for you.
When Lana Robinson’s parents force her to go on holiday to a ranch for her birthday, she is beyond loaded. Wanting badly to celebrate her birthday with her high school friends and recent crush, her parents couldn’t have ruined her life more if they’d tried. But when her parents are set in something, there’s no turning back.
When Lana initially arrives at Black Stallion ranch she is mortified that there’s no internet, and is determined to sit and read books to keep herself entertained. But when she is introduced to Tristan Ellis, the son of the ranch owners, Lana can’t help but start wanting to become more involved in what the ranch has to offer.
Tristan is an old soul in a teenagers body, he wants to take over his parents ranch, expand it and one day be married to live a white picket fenced dream. He throws himself into making the guests at his parents ranch welcome, and when he spots Lana, he can’t help but want to make sure that he gives her his undivided attention.
Both characters are sweet and you are endeared to them due to their naivety, their relationship is typical of any teenage romance with drama and hormones, and there are lots of unexpected twists throughout the book.
This is the perfect read for any sweet romance lovers, and I did not expect the book to end this way! So excited to read more in this series.
Lana Robinson is a shy, book loving, city girl with a plan. She is motivated, has goals and her future already mapped out. Looking forward to celebrating her 18th birthday, her plans are suddenly foiled when her parents plan an impromptu vacation to Black Stallion Ranch in Wyoming.
Tristan Ellis is a confident, focused, football playing, county boy. He’s a rancher’s son, with dreams of going to college on a football scholarship, spending his summer working at his family’s ranch. And that is where he meets her.
Sparks fly instantly between Lana and Tristan, but these two are from different worlds, both with their own plans for the future and only two weeks together. With that in mind, the two agree on a no strings attached, summer fling, nothing more. What could possibly happen in two weeks?
Infatuated is the first book in the Black Stallion Ranch Series. It’s a beautiful, swoon worthy, portrayal of first love and the unexpected obstacles life can throw at you. This is the first book I have read from this author and I have to say I was quite pleased with it. The story was well written and I found it to be quite engaging as it drew me in right away. I will warn you, being the first book in a series, it does end on a bit of cliffhanger; fortunately, the second book is releasing very soon, which I look forward to reading.
I received an advanced reader’s copy Infatuated for an honest review.
(Rainey Day Book Reviews – Mia Grace)
Lana has finished her junior year of high school and is looking forward to her summer and a party with friends. She is not thrilled when her parents take her on a two week vacation to Black Stallion Ranch in Wyoming.
This changes when she meets the ranchers son Tristan. He has just graduated high and is working on the ranch until he start college and football.
The connection with these two is instant and undeniable but there is a timetable for the romance.
These characters are well developed and mature .
The setting of the story is a place that you want to visit. Of course there is well placed drama.
The story ends on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see what happens next. These characters were great together. I am volunteering to leave a review for this book
Infatuated is a great read. I was hooked from beginning to end with this one. Lana is has plans that don’t involve going to a Ranch for two weeks but that’s her parents’ plan. At first I thought is was a bratty teenager but after a little bit I warmed up to her and really liked her. Tristan’s family owes the Ranch. He has just broke up with his girlfriend and is getting ready for college. He’s a good guy. Lana and Tristan have a connection. Lana is only at the Ranch for two weeks but she starts to fall for Tristan. They are young and in love it’s was cute until the ending. So this one is book one and it does end in a cliffhanger. I can’t wait for the next one, I’m so wanting and needing a happy ever after.
Book 1 in the new Black Stallion Ranch series and it was a great start. Loved this story. Be warned that this will end on a cliffhanger and be continued in Enamored so if you don’t like cliffhangers, then you may not want to read it. I wouldn’t advise that because you will be missing a great story. Loved Lana and Tristan so much. They were a breath of fresh air and you will be taken on an emotional roller coaster and it was so worth it. I can’t wait to read the rest of their story. Great job Cara. You keep blowing me away with each story that I read and I am so excited to read what you have coming in the future.
I read an early review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
It’s not everyday that the male character wants the house with the white picket fence and this book came through! This is such a refreshing story about young love. I enjoyed it from beginning to end and I can’t wait to continue reading this series!
Infatuated is the first book in the Black Stallion Ranch Series. This is a coming of edge story with enough swoon and charm that had me hook from page one.
The main characters are Tristan and Lana. Two young adults that have dreams on their own. Also they come from different backgrounds. While Tristan is a country cowboy with dreams of going to college with his football scholarship, Lana is a city girl who lately has become kind of popular in her school but deep inside she loves a cute time just reading one of her romance novels and wants to go to college in New York to become an architect.
Their time together has an expiration day, but from their very first day they met, sparks fly and their time together is full of incredible and sweet moments with a lot of heat and a perfect summer love .
Unfortunately their time together comes to and end and their story ends on a cliffhanger that is making desperate to find out what happens next for this young couple and their journey into adulthood.
I loved this book from the beginning to the end. It was a real page turner and I couldn’t put it down. Normally, you read about the girl falling for the cute guy, but in this book. It wasn’t what you would expect. Cara gives you enough steamy scenes for a young adult book to keep you hooked. She also tugs on your heart strings. You not only feel for Lana, but you also find yourself rooting for Tristan in the end. I would definitely recommend reading this book and you will want to pick up the next one in this series to see how it ends.
I loved this book! It’s extraordinarily written, has amazing character and a wonderful page turning storyline. This books has all the feels and it pulls you in and makes you feel like you are right there with the characters. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
This book really drew me in and had me hooked! I was dying to know what was going to happen with Lana and Tristan and now I have to wait for book 2 before I can find out how their story ends.

This was an amazing book! Lana changed throughout the book in great ways, but I really liked how much she grew up while still keeping the traits of a teenager and how complicated growing up can be. I really liked that Tristans story wasn’t how much he hated his lifestyle and wanted to get away from the town he grew up in, it was a nice change of pace to read a story about a teenager content with his life. Tristan and Lana were adorable and I cannot wait to read the next book to find out the rest of their story!
I think I’ve said a few times that I hate cliffhanger. But it would seem once again I’m OK with one because this was a great read.
This book is all about young love. Tristan and Lana fell hard and fast for each other. They both had drama in their lives which put their young lovr to a test that they simply didn’t pass.
The way things ended felt wrong and I’m so excited to start book 2 so I can see the growling and second chance at love and the HEA.

This is book 1 of the duet and my first read by this author! And I am hooked!! Omg I couldn’t put this down.
I loved Lana. Her sweet nerdiness, I just adored her. But I also thought she was strong too. She didn’t take crap from people. Well maybe some but that is the typical nerdy teenager in her that doesn’t see the beauty that she is. I loved how she was with Tristan in the beginning. The line between flirting and hate was so good. That banter was fun to see in the beginning.
I was worried about Tristan in the beginning. His girlfriend in the beginning, don’t worry it doesn’t last very long, bothered me and I didn’t like who he was when he was with her. So I was like ugh please don’t do this to me. But soon it fixes itself out lol. Then to see him with Lana, I loved him. He was so sweet and caring. Everything and more, the dirty more hehe, a true cowboy should be!!
I am starting book 2 now cuz I need to know how this ends!! So yes it ends on a little cliffy cuz this is a duet!
4⃣.5⃣
recommendation
Holy cowboys! Absolutely loved this awesome read by Cara Wade! Tristan and Lana were so easy to love and their story was so full of chemistry, steamy scenes and young summer love!
Cara Wade continues to deliver fabulous reads with every book she writes and this first book in the Black Stallion Ranch duet was no different! I was completely caught up in this story and could not quit reading it!
Note that this is the first book in a duet and it does end in a cliffhanger that will have you hanging and grasping for the second book, Enamored!
Lana and Tristan’s story is a fantastic coming of age story that you’re sure to love. Again, Wade created characters that draw you in from page one.
Lana is a girl any woman can connect with. Frustrated with her parents for spoiling her chance to go to the big party where she was finally supposed to get the guy. Instead, she is forced to spend 2 weeks on a ranch with no cell service and turn 18 there. Determined to be miserable until she bumps into Tristan.
Tristan is a hard working, family oriented guy. He puts everything he has into his family’s ranch. He’s the sweet and thoughtful, sexy guy any girl would want.
From the moment they meet, Lana and Tristan’s chemistry pulls them together.
This story is full of angst, misunderstandings, love and life changing moments. I didn’t want to put this book down. Then I was begging for book two.
Cara Wade is a phenomenal author who has written another page turner that you don’t want to miss.
I’m so glad that Enamored, the second book of the Black Stallion Ranch Duet is tight around the corner (it releases on May 9th). Because after finishing my read of Infatuated, I need to know what is going to happen with Lana and Tristan. That ending left me heartbroken. Seriously, if this book was a standalone I would riot!
Lana has a dream of doing architecture at Cornell, and for that she studies a lot and she is a great friend, a little shy, with a good heart. She also loves reading romances and until now her only steamy experiences are from there. On the week of her 18th birthday her parents tells her that they will spend 2 week at the ranch, where she met cowboy Tristan.
Tristan is the typical cowboy, with the hat and all. He is heading to business school on a football scholarship, he is very intelligent and wants to take care of the family business, the ranch. When he met Lana, he had just broken up his 2 years relationship with his ex. But even then he knew Lana was special.
So during two weeks you see them get closer, at the beginning where they afraid of their feelings they kept a closer hate-to-love thing, but then their chemistry and friendship was reaching new heights.
They were teens, or young adults as you might say, but they knew what they really wanted, at least Tristan he had an old soul as his parents said. As they got to know each other better, it was clear that both of them were still immature, as they was suppose to be for their age, however I was able to see how they were right for each other and how they support their dreams.
So as you keep falling in love with both of them and their love, you also keep wondering when the shoe will fall! Specially because this book is duet, you know it will fall. And when it happens I just felt my heart breaking with them, I felt so sorry for them. And his letter? Why, Cara, why?????
At least the next book is super closer to release and I get to know what happens with Lana and Tristan.
This summer vacation love story is hotter than the sun and breaking my heart in so many ways. I have a serious crush on the hot cowboy, wishing every girl in the world to find a first love like this and in the same time hoping it won’t end the way it does.
It’s not supposed to be more than a perfect summer fling but it’s really difficult to keep feelings out of it when they have this passionate connection.
I’m so looking forward to the next book to see what happens next time they meet.
This is the 1st in a new series and is Lana and Tristan’s story, and the chemistry between them is off the charts. This is a beautifully written coming of age story which has realistic characters and plot and is an entertaining and steamy read. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I look forward to reading #2. I recommend this talented authors’ work for all.
What an amazing coming of age story. Classic storyline. Lana is a smart, beautiful woman heading to Black Stallion Ranch. Low and behold, the Rancher’s son Tristian is there and sparks fly. They are on borrowed time with their “no strings attached” love affair. Tristian’s home is the ranch while Lana is moving up and out with goals of a future. This is a steamy romance with all the feels needed for an amazing read. So wonderfully written, you are able to see and feel everything. This is a duet so there was obviously a mild cliffhanger. To see where this goes, you have to read book two (Enamored) in the Black Stallion Ranch Series.
Cara Wade
“Infatuated” Book 1 of Cara Wade’s new series Black Stallion Ranch is a delicious coming of age story that will have you flipping through the pages of this book with one hand, while fanning yourself with the other.
Tristan is a sexy and confident young man. Although he’s only 18, he has a good head on his shoulders and is incredibly mature and focused. He let’s nothing stand in his way and faces the challenges life throws at him and moves forward with confidence.
Lana is a smart girl, she’s got a good head on her shoulders and is highly motivated to succeed and to pursue her dream of becoming an architect. She has recently undergone a transformation from ugly duckling to beautiful swan and her self esteem is fragile.
When Tristan and Lana meet their chemistry is off the charts hot and it is obvious that they are completely infatuated with each other. Knowing that Lana is on vacation and that her future is in New York and that Tristan’s is in his hometown, they attempt to keep their relationship on a purely physical level but feelings get in the way. Their love is real but the obstacles they are facing are more real. The book ends with each of them going their separate ways but as the saying goes – “hope is the last thing to die”. I can’t wait to read “Enamored” Book 2 of this series to see what the future holds for Lana and Tristan. TBR and enjoy.
