Inescapable is a stand-alone novel from author C.J Fallowfield. This is my first read from this author and I can’t believe it’s taken this long to experience this authors writing style, plot and amazing characters.
This book really is a powerful, suspenseful, emotional, read that tackles issues with realness, dignity and a way to make people aware. So please be aware when reading this of the issues it may cause others.
Other than that, this read was captivating, engaging, emotional and most of was incredible to see the journey our two main characters Alex & Castle take on their journey of recovery, acceptance, self-worth and just trying not to relive their past every day. These two have faced an an unbelievable amount of pain that is dominating their lives. With this pain, it put an unbelievably high wall around Castle & Alex feelings and makes them ultimately so hard to break down it has the chance to ruin any future either of them may have or want.
This book was also thrilling and suspenseful that had me on the edge of my seat numerous times with worry, fear and powerful emotions that feel like they radiate from our characters as though we are the ones experiencing it.
There was something in this book which I think makes a change is the time difference through the book we cover the space of at least 15 years, but each time jump is smooth and flows from chapter to chapter and time to time, it just shows how long the lasting effects are for survivors trying to recover from their past. I also loved that this book is written in multiple POV we get to hear from our two main characters but also our villain/tormentor. We get to read all of their thoughts, feelings and understand their actions. This all helped me connect with the realness that Alex & Castle face and help understand them more.
This is a powerful, suspenseful and erotic romance read that should not be missed, I don’t want to give too much more away as it will take away the rawness and realness of this read, so take a chance on this author and read and experience it for yourself.
Inescapable by C.J. Fallowfield
Rated 5 stars
I LOVED reading the book! Granted it’s a bit about a dark theme but the rest of the story wouldn’t be available if there wasn’t some of the darkness. The story just drew me in from the beginning and i couldn’t put it down! The writing is so smooth and easy to read. It’s full of intrigue, suspense and had me chuckling more than a couple times. The characters really make this story. The two main peeps really are strong and I commend them for trying to protect themselves and for overcoming their struggles. The secondary characters added the some liveliness to the story. I was leery of reading this because of the “ erotic” listed in the title along with the handcuffs on the cover. I was so so glad I overcame that because I would have missed an amazing story! I loved the whole theme of “painting a picture”. Such a great way to go about some things. As well as the idea of The chess names. I figured that out pretty early but loved how it all came together in the end.
The struggle Alex had to overcome is enormous! Trying to overcome and learn to live again. Woot! You go girl! So impressed with her! What that girl lives through is outside of my realm but she is a survivor through and through. She is stronger than she is knows. With the lovely help of Castle she becomes quite a woman. Castle is one hunky guy! He is wealthy, hot looking in a suit and so so sweet on Alex it’s enjoyable to read! The words that man can string together make my heart go pitty-pat. Together they have some intense feelings for one another but each has a few scars from their past to overcome.
This is my first book by this author. I would eagerly look Into other works by her after reading this. All the suspense and drama Fit together perfectly for a nicely rounded story.
C.J. Fallowfield’s novel, Inescapable, was a hypnotically driven romantic suspense. This story was instantly addictive with a plot that was intriguing. The author has a lot of fine details interwoven within the story that give it that something more. The cat and mouse games that occur within the story keep you fully engaged and waiting to see what is just around the turn on the next page. The pace set within the story was concise and perfect, not too fast nor slow. The characters’ are each written with such finesse there is no question of who they are, what inspires or clouds their decisions/choices. A great novel by this author and I look forward to reading more of their works.
Inescapable is an erotic romance novel that centers on a young woman’s experience with domestic abuse and post traumatic stress disorder written by author C.J. Fallowfield. It is the story of a poor 18 year old orphaned girl named Izzie Knight who lives in Glasgow, Scotland. When we meet her, Izzie is out at a sleazy club with her best friend and roommate named Sharon Mackie or Shaz. Shaz notices a handsome man staring at Izzie. The man is not the usual type of guy to hangout at the club. He is hot; he is very muscular, is wearing a three-piece suit, and an expensive watch. Izzie is dressed in sexy clothes that she borrowed from Shaz, and she can’t figure out why this guy is interested in her. Izzie and Shaz are from “the wrong side of the tracks” and they know that there will be no “Cinderella stories” in their futures. Izzie was put into a children’s home when she was 11 years old because her father died in a prison brawl after he was convicted of pension fraud, and her mother had committed suicide. Izzie met Shaz at the children’s home, and they have been a team of two ever since.
Shaz leaves the club and the man finally approaches Izzie. He’s an American businessman who is in Glasgow for work for six months. Izzie is a virgin, and tells the man that she’s not the type to “put out”. The man states that he’s happy about that and then asks Izzie out on a date, which surprises her. When Izzie expresses to him that she is skeptical about his wanting to go out with her, the man challenges her to attend a ball in London with him in two weeks. He tells her that if he can turn her into a “lady” in the next two weeks then she must attend the ball with him. Izzie takes him up on the challenge, and he introduces himself as Richard King, that he is 26 years old, and he is rich. Six months later Izzie is leaving with Richard to go to his home in Washington, DC. Richard has made Izzie dye her naturally dark brown hair to blonde, and dressed her up in fancy clothes, and Shaz thinks that Izzie is making a huge mistake, but she can’t talk her out of leaving. Shaz thinks that Richard is a “control freak”. Izzie tells Shaz that Richard has promised to help Shaz after they arrive in Washington, but Shaz doesn’t believe him, and she thinks that Izzie is too naive for her own good. It turns out that Shaz is right. After Izzie arrives in Washington with Richard he turns into a monster. Richard abuses Izzie sexually, physically, verbally, and emotionally, and it goes on for ten years. When he has to leave their home, he chains Izzie to the bed. Izzie is only allowed to leave the house when she is accompanied by Richard, and she is somehow able to make friends with a woman named Dawn, who she and Richard have gone on double dates with. Dawn can tell that something isn’t right, and Izzie is finally able to tell her about Richard’s cruelty and abuse when they go to the Lady’s Room together one night. Dawn helps Izzie come up with a plan to get away from Richard, and supplies Izzie with sleeping pills to put into Richard’s favorite drink. After another evening of Richard’s terrible abuse, Izzie gets loose from Richard’s chains after Richard passes out from drinking his alcoholic drink that has been laced with sedatives, and she makes sure to then chain him to the bed. After Izzie escapes from their home, Dawn is in a car waiting to take Izzie to the police station. Izzie has a broken nose, as well as bruises and bite marks all over her body, that shows the police that Richard must be arrested for domestic violence. X- rays also show a history of multiple broken bones suffered by Izzie, and Richard is finally convicted for his abuse to her, and sent to prison for 5 years.
Izzie relieves her stress by painting. She moves to London and opens an art gallery exhibiting her work, and becomes quite successful and somewhat famous. She also changes her name to Alex Bishop. One evening, 3 years later, Alex meets a man named Tate Castle, who is a very handsome, rich British businessman, and he has come to Alex’s art exhibition to purchase some of her paintings since he is a big fan of her work. Alex is definitely attracted to Castle, and Castle is very attracted to Alex. Can Alex ever trust another man, and stop looking over her shoulder for any sign that Richard has found her again?
I really enjoyed this book by C.J. Fallowfield. This book had me all over the place emotionally, since it deals with severe incidences of domestic abuse. It has opened my eyes to how difficult it must be for someone who has been through this kind of abuse to deal with their post traumatic stress disorder, and correctly informs the reader of how important counseling is as a tool to help the survivor to go on with their lives and to try to be happy. I cannot express how much I loved this book, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to read a good book!
Wow, just wow. Inescapable by CJ Fallowfield was dangerous and lovely all at the same time. Please note that this book comes with a trigger warning as it about domestic abuse. There were a few parts that were triggering for me, however the author give you the reassurance that Alex is a survivor and she is strong. Alex Bishop has had a horrible past and now has a second chance to get away. Yes, a second chance as it has come back to haunt her again. What seems like a perfect getaway, also sounds like deja vu. I actually liked how similar the situations were but was very concerned for Alex. Though the story itself was a little dark, there was nothing that turned me off of it. It also helps that Tate Castle is a hottie billionaire who is protective and charming, no kidding, right? The emotion, pain, fear and love are so easily read that I’m sad it’s over but I’m happy I took a chance on this book and this author!
Something has to be said about an author that can take a couple of tortured characters and transform them into something that is beautiful. That is the case with Inescapable by C.J. Fallowfield.
I went into this book blind. Well, not really. But I tend to read reviews beforehand and don’t mind the occasional spoiler. Other than reading the synopsis – I didn’t go seeking for spoilers. And I’m glad that I got to experience it the way in which I did. This is one of those books that takes a hold of not just you, but your soul and doesn’t let go.
I do have to say that there is a warning about this book, as it touches on the subject of domestic violence. But, I have to say that the author did a good job of handling that particular subject. I love being able to take the journey with the characters and experience every blissful moment, even if it includes a bit of pain. I’m glad that I came across this author, as this is the first book that I’ve read. And I’m excited to find more of her work. Definitely a 5 Star Book!
WOW! This book was absolutely wonderful! Inescapable by C.J. Fallowfield is a book about a girl named Isabelle Knight, who falls into the spell of a very handsome and wealthy man named Richard King. However, Richard King took everything from Isabelle and so much more. Finally when Isabelle had the courage, the plan and the help to leave she had to change everything about her including her name. Just then Alex Bishop was created except for the very thing that she always loved…her art. Transplanting in London, she was able to provide the very thing she loved to the world and that’s when Tate Castle found her. Another very wealthy and devastatingly handsome man who happens to love her art and of course is very intrigued by her. However, it’s not long til Richard finds Alex and plans her demise once again. Of course Alex has Castle in her corner and he is not going to allow anyone to get to her. I 100% loved this book! It was definitely a page turner. I loved the characters and the roles that they all played. I loved reading about Alex coming into her own. I loved all the twists and turns that this book provided. It was definitely an easy read being that it was easy to follow. This story was very well written and really well thought out. The sexy scene are written so very well. They are down right sizzling hot! I loved everything about this book and cannot wait to read more from this author!!!
Inescapable written by C.J. Fallowfield is an Intriguing and captivating story. This isnt my normal genre but I’m glad I gave this story a chance, Isabelle/Alex deserves happiness and peace to after the life she’s led. At first I wasn’t sure where this story was going then as it progressed I was more addicted to the storyline. I had to see what happened, what was said, and what happens next. By the time I reached the end I had to sit back and just process everything I had just read to get my emotions sorted out. All the characters had something unique to add to the storyline whether it be sexy, funny, violent, stalkerish and of course protective. Everyone deserves a second chance at life and happiness, especially Alex.
What a rollercoaster. This book was packed with raw emotion that you can’t help but experience with the characters. It was well written. I had difficulty putting it down before I had finished reading the whole thing. This was my first book from this author and I wasn’t disappointed.
This book had me on the edge of my seat at all times. Whether that be through excitement of concern for the beloved Alex. The topic of domestic abuse was handled sensitively but was true to the horror and heart break behind it. Tate is an instantly lovable character who tugs on your heart strings. This is the first book I have read by this author and I can positively say it will not be the last.
I would recommend this book in a heartbeat.
Inescapable by C.J. Fallowfield
WOW!! What can I say? Inescapable by C.J. Fallowfield was a totally awesome read. I LOVED it!
C.J. Fallowfield chose a very difficult topic in domestic abuse and did an amazing job of dealing with it. The scenes of abuse against Izzie were harrowing and could possibly act as a trigger for those who have suffered domestic abuse in their past. However Izzie is one of the most resilient characters I’ve ever read. Her escape from her abuser and starting a new life as Alex Bishop had me gripped from start to finish.
When Tate Castle came into Alex Bishop’s life both were trying to come to terms with their pasts, which resulted in both of them being unwilling to let anyone into their lives, so it was a massive shock to both when there was an instant attraction and connection between the two of them.
Could Tate be the man to break down the barriers around Alex’s heart? Also, could Alex be the woman to break down Tate’s barriers? With her new life and new name is Alex free from the horror of Richard who had abused her and kept her prisoner at home for 10 years?
This book makes you feel every emotion possible. I laughed, I cried, I was filled with anger, I was scared. This story is full of suspense and you will not want to put it down. I devoured it in one day.
This was my first time reading C.J. Fallowfield and if this is any indicator of their work, then it will be the first of many.
Inescapable by C.Just. Fallowfield 5 Stars
This is my first book by C.J. Fallowfield. It is a standalone novel. After I recover from this book, I will definitely be reading more of her stories. This book had me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t read fast enough. It touches on the very sensitive subject of domestic violence. It held me captive from the start. Her characters are true to life and the story is so emotional and raw. It is easy to connect with Izzy Knight. She wears her heart on her sleeve. She is a young, naive orphan who is starved for love and attention. Although her best friend Shaz warns her, Izzy decides to change her fate with a proposal to become the girl she once was. Once Richard King sweeps her off her feet and promises her a new life away from her home in Glasgow, Izzy doesn’t blink an eye and flies off to America. Richard King isn’t all he is perceived to be and once they land on American soil, Izzy finds out first had who he actually is. After nine years of torture and abuse, she finds a way to escape the help she has been living in and returns to England as Alex Bishop. She tries to find her best friend and soul sister with no luck. Hurt and ashamed, Alex tries to pick up the pieces of her life and tries to start over. Alex escapes into a world of painting. Only then does she feel truly safe. She can never escape the haunting things she has endured at the hand of Richard King that plagues her every moment. After rebuilding a new life, she becomes a successful artist. With Richard King being released and a feeling of not being safe, the billionaire tycoon, Tate Castle gives her an offer that she takes after she has no where else to turn. His offer is the perfect beginning to helping both Alex and Tate heal from past secrets. Neither one is interested in becoming involved outside of their strictly business relationship. As Alex begins to heal and her past secrets and shame are starting to peel away, she finds herself wanting something she never imagined after the nightmare with Richard.
I couldn’t put this book down! It was an emotional rollercoaster that is exceptionally told through the eyes of Alex. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good, dark romance. Or anyone looking for something outside of the typical fairytale romance. You won’t be disappointed.
Inescapable by C.J. Fallowfield is a romantic novel that is filled with plenty of twists and turns to keep readers interested. This book follows Alex, a young woman who is trying to put her troubled past behind her, and Tate, a young billionaire who comes into Alex’s life when she needs it most. Each of these characters is flawed in their own ways but as they come to discover over the course of the book, they might be broken separately but together they make a beautiful whole. This book was filled to the brim with steamy romance, nail biting suspense, and edge of your seat drama that I found it hard to stop reading. This is most definitely a five star read and I am glad I decided to pick it up.

There has to be a way to give a book more than a 5 Star rating, because this book deserves more!!
Wow… Wow….Wow!!! Inescapable is a heart shattering, exceptional page turner by C.J Fallowfield. This is my first book from this author, and what a phenomenal introduction! I will be limbering up my ‘one-click’ finger and going on a C.J Fallowfield book buying binge ASAP, and devouring everything I can get my hands on. This story had me gripped so tightly in it’s clasp, squeezing me, making me gasp one minute from the horrific details that were shocking my senses- then making me grin like an idiot or laughing out loud in the next moment because of the funny banter or antics happening on the page. Yes, this story was emotionally charged, and showcased some incredibly horrific and shattering situations that made my heart and head hurt- but I loved every gripping detail and every unforgettable moment!!
Ms. Fallowfield writes such complex, slightly quirky, and all too endearing characters (well except for the deranged villain- but evoking hate is also a sign of a brilliant author). I couldn’t help but adore them from the get-go and form a one-person cheer squad, cheering them on every step of the way. Yes, I’ll admit that I was completely attached to Alex and Tate (and the rest of the cast)- and their journey. The secondary characters were some of the best supporting cast that I have ever met- they really help elevate this story into the exceptional piece of work that it is. Tom with his TMI, funny banter and quips was just hilarious- I loved him so hard! Then Sharon, Janice, Ester, Dawn, and Sarah all made their impression on me, too. Rosie completely melted my heart she’s just so delightful.
The story is superbly crafted- intense, sexy and multi-layered. All the elements were molded into a smooth and well-balanced story that had me in a page flipping frenzy to follow what was happening. I couldn’t put it down and demolished the book in an afternoon.
Incredible!
I can’t wait to read more of Ms. Fallowfields work!
Thank you, Ms. Fallowfield!
Inescapable definitely comes with some serious trigger warning. Some of the scenes are hard to read. But Izzie/Alex is stronger than she knows. But as she learns you cannot outrun your past. This was a good story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Some scenes you just can’t read fast enough. Great story!

So this being my first read by this author I must say I am completely impressed…I wasn’t sure what I was in store for when I read the synopsis for this book but I just knew I was definitely intrigued.
This story..Oh my…It hooked me immediately, she jumped right into the story of Izzie and Shaz and it truly did have a bit of a Pretty Woman vibe to it. My heart broke for both of them with the pasts they had to endure but their friendship was solid and very very real. The Pretty Woman similarity ended about as fast as it started, this story took a whole different turn, one that had me holding my breath many many times trying to figure out how in the world Lizzie was going to find a way to fix the choices she made.
Her bravery and what she endured to get free of her past and how she created a brand new life as Alex Bishop was simply awesome. I loved her friends and the interaction between them and when she thought all was well and she started feeling comfortable in her new life of course the past comes back to haunt her. Then a proposition is offered and she has no choice but to accept. I also loved how I had forgotten about something from the beginning and then out of nowhere it was not only a surprise for Alex but also for myself..This was awesome!!
Can she escape her past again? Can she ever find happiness and security in her life..I loved the names in this story, made me feel like it was a strategic game of chess using only the bishop, the knight and the castle. I loved the writing style of this author..This story flowed perfectly and I couldn’t put it down. I absolutely will be reading more from this author and can’t wait to see what else there is available.
Awesome and I highly recommend!!
Inescapable is a highly emotional and suspenseful story by C. J. Fallowfield. I was totally bewitched by the style of writing this author produced. I was taken to a whole new level in my reading experience. Inescapable was a deeply moving and confronting story. Alex and Tate meet and their worlds tilt. Apex has been to hell and back and she has only known terror, violence, and helplessness. Once she cannot take anymore, she runs and begins a new life. Fear is what controls her, but with time and patience, Castle may just become everything she has ever dreamed of and wished love and commitment could be.
Inescapable is a book that will leave lasting and cherished memories. It was supremely gut wrenching, confronting, passionate, dramatic, liberating. Their scars seemed too deep to heal, but with gentleness and understanding, any adversity can be overcome.
A love story like no other, Inescapable is a sublime 5 star read.
Inescapable by C.J. Fallowfield was breath holding good. I can’t say when a book has made me cry in one breath and cheer in another. This is the story of Alex Bishop and her determination to to survive, fight back, and find love. Her ex was a sadistic man, he did everything imaginable to her that you only read about in horror books. You would think that it would break her, but no, it made her want to live. One fateful night she planned her escape and changed her identity. Such an emotionally roller coaster that I would ride again and again
Alex was living her perfect quiet life. Owning her own art gallery having two great assistants that were her friends. Let me tell you those two assistants had me laughing all the way through the book. Then Knight found her. Now her only choice is to hide on an island paradise with Castle until Knight is found. Will Alex and Castle find love? Will Alex finally get her fighting spirit back?
I could not put this book down. In some parts my heart hurt so badly for Alex and in another I was laughing at the antics of her assistants. The characters were written so well that I couldn’t help but to fall into the pages with them. I literally flinched with Alex as she was enduring her torture so she could escape. I love the banter between Alex and Castle especially when she is trying to figure out his code name. This book is a keeper. Can’t wait to explore more books by C.J. Fallowfield.
Omg I’m really not sure where to start with this brilliant read, this book took over my life I was captivated and there was no putting it down until I had read the final line. This book has it all suspense, drama, twists and turns as well as some sizzling passion.
Tate Castle is a reclusive billionaire who stumbles into Alex Bishop’s life as she is trying to outrun her demons, the instant attraction they both feel for each other really takes over and knocks them off their feet. Tate seems to have the perfect solution to her problems but when she excepts his proposal little did she know their life’s were going to change irreparably.
This emotional roller coaster had me on the edge of my seat every time I thought I had worked it out Ms Fallowfield threw another spanner in the works, this story also covers a subject very few authors can cover with compassion and that is domestic violence but this author certainly gets just the right amount of sympathy in her writing. Two people needing each other for survival, growing stronger as they learn to trust each other. If you want a book that captivates and pushes you to the limits this is a must read. Once again Ms Fallowfield shows what a talented diverse author she really is.
5 star review of Inescapable by CJ Fallowfield
One of the things that I love about CJ Fallowfield is that her characters are never one dimensional and Inescapable had a great amount of suspense, as well as some twists and turns which had me continuously guessing.
Inescapable was such an emotional roller coaster of a ride and invoked a variety of feelings as I was reading. It was at times raw and gritty and Ms. Fallowfield handled the subject of domestic violence with a great deal of sympathy and care.
Can anyone ever truly escape their past? Alex Bishop is haunted by her past and flees to London. Meeting Tate Castle she is shocked by the attraction which sizzles between them.
Both Alex and Tate have been hurt badly in the past and it makes them wary of their feelings,
afraid to let anyone in, to be vulnerable to another. Their pain is intense and at times broke my heart. Can Tate and Alex soothe each others souls and in turn find happiness?
I won’t say more for fear of accidentally writing spoilers. It is a story of strength, of survival, of hope and of learning to trust again. All I will say is this was a well executed book that I recommend you one click but be warned, your boundaries will be pushed, mine were.
