You know when you have a favourite author and you put off reading their books because you don’t want to read it and then finish it and be left with nothing else? Yeah that’s exactly how I feel when I have a CJ Fallowfield book. I never want to get started because I know I won’t be able to stop and then it will all be over and I’ll be sat there wanting and needing more!
This is me right now, after finished Inescapable I’m left wanting more, NEEDING it in fact. I’m so sad that it’s over.
Ok, so let me get started on this book and my feels because there’s so many feels right now.
Castle and Alex are two characters that I won’t be forgetting any time soon. They both have suffered an unfair amount of pain in their lives, a different kind of pain from each other but pain nonetheless. A pain that guts them, pain that has them retreating into themselves, pain that makes them shelter their feelings from any future thing that could eventually hurt them again. It’s sad and heartbreaking and you’ll feel it right down to your soul. What neither of them expect is to find a calmness when they lay eyes upon each other, to be each other’s saviours.
Their story is intriguing and once you start, you won’t be able to stop. They go through so much in this book. One minute your happy then the next you just want to sit there and sob for them. Life wasn’t easy on either of them and it shows.
I won’t get into much more detail because I absolutely hate giving spoilers away
BUT I will say the character Richard lives up to his name in this book because he truly is 100% an absolute dick.
Oh and teeny tiny bit sad that we didn’t get to see castle witness the tattoo. That would have been awesome lol.
I’ve never once and I mean never been disappointed in a CJ Fallowfield book, this woman has a knack for belting out masterpieces and making you fall hard for her books and this one is no difference. It’s hard to read especially with all the domestic violence but her putting this into her book was vital, CJ did it tastefully and I haven’t read a book that has hit me in the heart for so long. CJ is an incredible writer and I look forward to future books from her at all times lol.
Inescapable by CJ Owens is a book that will terrify and thrill you all at the same time. Not my usual type of book to read this had me on the edge of my seat with my heart in my mouth from start to finish.
The story starts out in an unassuming way – big meets girl, girl falls in love, big whisks girl away in a pretty woman style moment. Cue the swoon! However it becomes clear that all is not as it seems and it is not a happily ever after. Isabelle escapes her home and her life, running as far away as she can, changing her name and forging a new identity along the way. Fast forward a few years and we see Alex. Art gallery owner and prominent artist. Happy and independent. At least on the on the outside. Inside she is harbouring the secret of her past – one that is about to rear its ugly head. When her ex husband finds her she takes the opportunity to run again – this time temporarily – in order to save her life. But this time she has help in the form of the gorgeous and intriguing Castle. Will Alex be able to escape her past and find the future she should have always had? Or will her history catch up her and finally destroy her for good?
I absolutely loved this book!! From the word go I could not put this book down. I found that I was terrified yet hooked all at once. I loved that the story was told from all POV’s as it added a whole new dimension to the story. To see everything told from multiple perspectives made the story much more intense. I felt like Is was right there with Alex, feeling her emotions, experience everything she did. I have read a few books now by this author and she never fails to please but this book utterly surpassed all my expectations. Everyone needs to read this book as soon as possible!!
5 Star
Inescapable By C.J. Fallowfield is an erotica/suspense book. This is my first book by this author but it wont be my last. This story is pretty intense in parts but I was hooked from the beginning. I couldn’t put it down once I started reading. I had to know what was going to happen so I at times was on the edge of my seat. Then theres the emotional rollercoaster ride she takes us on.Then there are times when you have tears in your eyes because of the two falling in love. This story is about Alex and Tate.Alex has a nasty past that she escaped and fled as far as she could, she changed her name and everything. Started fresh with her new life. She still looked over her shoulder and had bad dreams at times. Her and Tate though I lived these two.Tate is a man who doesn’t quite understand why he is so drawn to Alex, but his need to protect her is strong.. These two have chemistry that is off the charts. Can these two get a HEA?I highly recommend this book especially if you want to know how it ends. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Wow simply wow. The raw emotion, fear, pain and love in this story is just too much. The author had me seriously in my feelings like what the blue moon. Lol. All the fear and pain Alex goes through is unimaginable if you haven’t been in that situation or seen it with your own eyes. I was ready to fight for her evening knowing she isn’t real. My heart goes out to any one who has been through abuse and survived. I’ve heard how hard it is to leave and Alex shows us that. What I truly enjoyed was that she didn’t give up and she fought back. Then there’s Castle. Patience, single and rich he takes it upon himself to protect Alex. Even knowing the danger he goes out of his way to keep her safe. What a great read. It was smoothed and flowed together like the perfect melody.

5 stars
I’m not sure if 5 stars will ever be enough for this book. I am so very speechless and I have no idea what to write in this review apart from this is one of the best books that I have read this year. From the first page until the last I was completely and utterly captivated. I also think that this book is the first time that I have gone from loving to hating a character within 1 chapter! I don’t want to give away spoilers but I know people who have read this will probably know which characters I am talking about!
Alex was just such an inspirational character, she might have thought that she was weak considering what happened to her but I have so much respect for her it’s untrue. She had an inner strength that I’m not sure she even knew she had at times! I could have cried a long with her at times especially when she was opening up about her past.
Castle – he was a character I really had to get to know, he was complex and deep but also so lovely and protective of Alex.
Words really cannot express how much I loved this story and the amazing job that I think the author did tackling such a sensitive subject. A truly beautiful, heart breaking, inspirational story which I cannot recommend enough! It really does deserve more than 5 stars!
This book may have some triggers for some. This is my first book by this author, I enjoyed it. Her characters took me on an emotional roller coaster ride along with some twists and turns that left me wanting to know more. This story pulled me in from the start. Alex is a strong character that has gone through so much. She just wants to start her life over but what will happen when her past catches up with her? I couldn’t put this book down, I highly suggest reading this book.

5 out of 5 stars
The story Inescapable by C.J. Fallowfield is an erotica/suspense book. It is a story that is intense and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had read the final page. It has scenes that had me on the edge of my seat and others gave me that warm feeling when reading about two people falling in love. The two main characters of Alex and Tate are ones that I fell in love after reading about the very first time that they met. Angry and sad is how I felt when reading about Alex and her past. She shows herself to be a strong, amazing woman whose story is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Tate is a man that doesn’t understand why he is so drawn to Alex however from the first time they meet he has an overwhelming need to protect her. The attraction and chemistry between these two is off the charts. There are plenty of steamy scenes between them. Get ready for the temperature in the room to rise. Will these two find happiness together and get an HEA? Read this story to find out. There are other characters that I enjoyed reading about in this book. The mood of the story does feel a bit lighter when these characters and Alex interact. This is the first book that I have read by the author and it will not be the last. This is a story with characters that you will not soon forget. I look forward to reading other books that the author has written as well as what she writes next. This story does include scenes of domestic violence and would be recommended for a mature audience.
Inescapable was definitely a five stars read for me.
It took me on an emotional roller coaster and it was really difficult to go back to the real world when I turned the last page and closed the book.
Life wasn’t lenient with our heroine,I wanted to help her during her journey but I didn’t need to,because our anguished hero supported her, letting her grow confident and strong into her body and her mind.
I can’t recommend this (and other C.J. Fallowfield’s) book enough, brace yourself for this ride.
Favorite Quotes:
‘I eat danger for breakfast,’ he scoffed, then wilted under my “now’s not the time for your jokes” look. ‘Actually, I eat Coco Pops for breakfast. No, that’s a lie too. I don’t eat them, I leave them sitting in a big bowl of milk, until they unleash all of their chocolatey goodness into it. Then I strain the annoying cereal bits out and drink the delicious nectar.’
I’d even push Patrick Dempsey under a bus for him, and you know how bad I have it for him.
I’m not falling, I’ve already fallen, so hard I feel broken when you’re not in my field of vision.
My Review:
I always take great pleasure in witnessing the transformation of victim to survivor. I was somewhat apprehensive that this would be a dark read, and while it had some cringe-worthy and gasp-inducing moments of torment where I was actually holding my breath, it was not overly gruesome or lurid. The storyline was engaging, intriguing, emotive, and well-crafted. I adore C.J. Fallowfield and want all her words. As with all her work, I cherished her well-drawn characters and rooted for their progress. I also found a new phrase to add to my Brit Vocabulary list, of “ten to the dozen” which is an informal UK expression meaning very quickly.
