Some girls are born independent and fierce. They constantly shock the world––bringing it to its knees. Indigo Bryant is one of them. At the young age of thirty, she has already bought and sold a highly successful design business. Needing a change of pace, she uproots her life in New York City, to be near her best friend in a small town near Huntsville, Alabama. What was supposed to be a relaxing … relaxing summer with little stress and a fresh start, suddenly takes an unexpected turn when she meets Alexander Clark.
Despite his many talents and charming personality, no one would have guessed the ghosts that haunt Alexander Clark. What was once a promising baseball career has now faded into the shadows.
Paralyzed by the nightmares of his past, and the guilt of a horrible accident, he can’t seem to let go and move forward. That is––until he meets Indigo.
Not every girl needs a knight in shining armor. Not every girl needs to be saved.
And not every boy is a knight. Sometimes, they are the ones that need to be saved.

Yet another amazing book from Amber Lacie. Wow what a ride this was. This read is full of laugh out loud moment, smoking hot scenes, and emorional ones also. This story is about a man with a troubled passed and a woman that doesn’t believe in happy every afters. Will he come to terms with his past? Will she find her happy every after? Can they help each other heal? Go get this book and find out.
WOW, just wow. This book was so hard to put down. It grabbed you right from the start. Instant tears! The characters in this book had to battle their inner demons. The struggle was real. The emotions that were brought out was something else! There were also some laugh out loud moments. The Chris Farley mention, I have never seen the movie but know exactly the reference. I love that about Amber’s books, the references.
Indigo Bryant is fierce, independent and a force to be reckoned with. A highly successful interior designer in New York City, Indie decides she needs a change and to escape her stress and leaves everything behind to move closer to her best friend who lives in Alabama. Her fresh start was supposed to be relaxing and way to slow down and find out what she wanted next out of life. Instead, she has a chance meeting in a bar that’s about to change her whole outlook on life.
Alexander Clarke had the world at his feet when an unexpected accident shattered it. While he appears to have moved on from the tragedy, in truth he’s plagued by guilt and nightmares that have him stuck and unable to move forward. That is, until he meets Indigo . . .for the first time in nine years, she has him feeling alive and like he wants more . . .he just doesn’t know how to reach out and take it.
Indigo isn’t the kind of girl that needs to be needed or even rescued. She can take care of herself and those around her. And, Lex isn’t the knight in shining armor type of guy . . . he’s actually the one needing rescued. Can they both move on from their destructive pasts to find their own type of fairy tale, or will their chance meeting lead to more heartache for both of them?
Indigo was my Blind Date with a Book this month, and I absolutely adored it. Indie is a true force of nature. She doesn’t let anyone tell her what to do . . .she does what she wants and loves fiercely. But, she’s a bit lost and needs to find herself. Adjusting to small town life is not quite what she expected, and she’s liking it a lot, especially when Lex enters the picture.
Lex is trapped by his past. He can’t move forward and his guilt has him unable to do what he needs to for himself in order to move on. His hometown all know what happened and kind of stand by and watch him avoid dealing, but Indie is having none of that. She’s more than willing to give him the push and support he needs . . .but is he ready to accept it?
I really and truly loved this somewhat opposite view on a conventional relationship. Lex definitely needs saving and Indie is the woman to do it. It’s a beautiful story as both characters must do a lot of soul searching to make a relationship work. Don’t let this one slip past you. 5 stars!
I’ve been a fan of Amber Lacie’s writing since November of 2016 and I have to say her books will forever hold a place in my heart, that’s how amazingly real her characters have been developed (within all her books, really).
I was given Indigo as an ARC, for a honest review but honestly ladies if I hadn’t received the ARC I would have purchased Indigo no matter what because ALL Amber Lacie’s books are that good.
However Indigo is a little different because the roles are a little reversed. Usually when you’re reading an HEA (or at least usually), it’s the woman whose lost or confused and needs the man to show her the way or rescue her but not in this case. No Indigo is a strong, independent business woman (with a “don’t have time for your b****** attitude) from New York who is tired of the busy life so she sells her company to her assistant and moves out of the city.
With no immediate plans she meets up with her childhood friend, Erin, in Alabama where she plans on staying until she lands on her feet. Indigo’s short term plan is to have fun and blow off a little steam while she takes in some quality girl time.
Since, Indigo has no plans, and no love interests (which suits her well anyway’s because after witnessing her parents love/hate relationship towards each other Indigo’s afraid to put herself out there in fear that someone will hurt her like her parents have hurt each other).
Lex is the leading male character within Indigo and he has a past that’s been haunting him for years. After an accidental car crash (caused by him) he’s left with the guilt of killing his parents and crippling his older brother.
As the guilt creeps in he pushes everyone away in hopes that he’ll feel less guilty but in doing that he’s torturing himself and ruining any chance he has at a normal relationship (not that he’s looking for one because his guilt keeps him secluded from the possibility of love) that is until Indie stumbles into his life.
Lex meets Indie in a bar and immediately she catches his attention. They begin getting to know each other by swapping cheesy pick up lines (that really are pretty entertaining, I do believe I laughed out loud a few times and my hubby was like “what’s so funny?”)
Needles to say these character go through a long road in order to break down their walls enough to let each other in. Indie feels like she needs to trust Lex before they can become anything because she doesn’t want to enter into a relationship like her parents and Lex needs to let go of his guilt and finally move on (after all no one is blaming him for what happened other then himself and Janet).
I loved how this story turned out. Thank you for yet another amazing read Amber Lacie.
This sweet contemporary romance is about two broken people who find each other and are given a chance to heal. Indigo feels like her world is closing in around her and just needs room to breathe, so off to a summer in Alabama she goes. Lex was traumatized after an accident and closed himself off from the world, that is until he meets Indie.
The author did a great job with this story! I completely fell in love with Lex and Indie; the bedroom scenes were steamy, Indie was delightfully independent and badass. I applaud her best friend Erin for the comic relief. I read this in one night, it’s so going to be worth the book hangover. I could not pull my eyes away from it, compelled to finish it.
I recommend this book to those that believe there’s that one special person out there that may have the missing piece of your soul. That one person that can make you feel complete. Absolutely a 5* read.
Hot dang it Ms Lacie starts this book off with a bang and never lets you settle down. This is an emotional read which will tear you to shreds and slowly, painfully bring you back only to shake you up again. Ms Lacie truly knows how to grab you and keep you with her characters and the way she introduces them then draws you into their stories and keeps you. Lex Logan Erin Indie is a piece of work. Feisty, stubborn and doesn’t believe in Cupid. Well she does have good reason. Lex?? Well he is a whole nuther soul. Their souls recognize each other and well you’ll have to read it to believe it for yourself. I absolutely adore Logan especially when he takes charge. Erin is the best sidekick ever!! It’s a wonderful read that will pull you in all sorts of directions just like a great read is supposed to. I love this author’s style and will continue to purchase her books knowing I will not be disappointed.
This book is packed with emotions. Lex is a man struggling to come to terms with his part in the deaths of his parents. He has spent the last 9 years trying to make up to his brother and his brother’s ex-wife. Indigo is the woman who turns his world upside down. Indi is a successful interior designer who is looking for a fresh start. She doesn’t believe in love, she thinks it just causes pain. She is strong and independent and has no idea how to handle her feelings for Lex. Sometimes love happens and you just have to hang on for the ride, and that is what happens to Lex and Indigo.
Wow!! What an amazing book. But I already expected that. I have all of Amber Lacie’s books and have loved every single one. I love her writing style But never expect anything because you never know what she has going through that head. Indigo was a little different than her other books. All of Amber’s books will break your heart but in Indigo she put it back together piece by piece.
Lex and Indigo have that connection from the first time they meet. Those pick up lines..they will have you rolling on the floor. They both have obstacles to get around. Will they be able to make it around them and have an HEA?
I just have one thing to say. Go one click you will not be disappointed! You will love it!
What a fantastic must read book. This book you won’t want to put down. Lex and indies story is an emotional rollercoaster. Moving to the country from the city is a big move for indie and one she doesn’t want to regret or get involved with anyone. But things soon change. If you haven’t read Amber Lacie yet then go read her now.
Amber Lacie never disappoints! Having read all of her other works, I was itching to get my hands on this story and dove right in. When you kick start a book with the kind of emotion found here, it’s bound to take you on a journey. Immediately my heart was put through the wringer and I found myself awake into the late hours because I didn’t want to walk away.
The lead characters in this book, Indie and Lex, are two hard headed individuals with strong personalities that easily carry the storyline. Indie is the kind of girl with fire in her eyes and a history of hurt looking for a fresh start. Lex on the other hand, is haunted by his past and spends his life trying to make up for the pain, burying himself trying to make things right. Love and happiness aren’t in the cards for either of them, but a literal run in at a bar puts both on a course that turns their lives in new directions.
There is a lot, and I mean A LOT of angst in this book (and if you’ve read Amber before, you know what I’m talking about!) I love that the focus stays on a core few characters so you really find yourself getting to know them and understanding them on a deeper level. I love not only the relationship that builds with Indie and Lex, but also the strength of the secondary characters and how her best friend, Erin, plays such a role in her life. You’ll also find yourself laughing out loud at super cheesy pick-up lines, growling in frustration when they just can’t see what’s in front of them, and of course it’s full of passion!
Absolutely recommend reading this one!!
Wow! I expected I would love this book as I love all of this authors books as she has a unparallel writing style that offers unexpected climatic moments & brimming with tear jerking moments that leave you spellbinded. I was escatic as this book may be my new favourite book from Amber Lacie.
The premise of the story gives a glimpse of what to expect & reflects well without giving anything away. The cover is gorgeous & Title is spectacular. I love how the main characters are portrayed with short forms of their names. As usual Author Amber Lacie begin’s the story with a banging prologue that will have your stomach in knots. My heart was breaking just reading the prologue. We continue with Chapter One where it hooks you in & keep’s you at the edge of your spot. The main characters touched my heart so much as I can relate to their anxiety & panic attacks. I fell in love with each character immediately a’s they have there own dynamics that added to the book & eachother. I loved Indie & Lex’s personalities & the banter between these two was so funny & entertaining. Lex’s pick up lines in the bar were the best. A perfect blend of supporting character’s to add to the mix. Overall a stunning piece of writing that captures your heart.Go one-click this fabulous story now as you won’t be disappointed. I volunteerly reviewed an advanced copy of this novel.
Amber has another winning book under her belt. This book will have you crying, laughing and taking a cold shower. The characters and storyline will capture your heart!
Indigo by Amber Lacie – 5 stars
“I’m going to call you Skittles, cause baby, I want to taste the rainbow.”
Lex (short for Alexander) and Indie (short for Indigo) meet at a bar and try to forever try to one up each other with their one liners. There is an instant connection and both Lex and Indie have a past they are stagnant because of or trying to move on from. This book is funny and sweet and heartbreaking and emotional.
This is the first book I’ve read by Amber Lacie and I really enjoyed the way she writes. She writes strong female characters who can hold their own (does Erika already have her own story?) and men who aren’t afraid to show their emotions. The blurb for the book says “Not every girl needs a knight in shining armor. Not every girl needs to be saved. Not every boy is a knight. Sometimes they are the ones that need to be saved…” This was a refreshing story that I would absolutely recommend.
I look forward to reading more from this “new to me” author.
