Ink is indelible.
So is love, at least in theory.
He’s an over-inked, reformed bad boy and she is the slightly older, seemingly out of reach woman who’s head over heels (actually knees over shoulders) in love with him. Almost as much as he is with her.
Somehow, they have remained oblivious to their mutual attraction for five years.
One night, they take the plunge. Love conquers all, right?
plunge. Love conquers all, right?
They expose hearts and bodies, expecting a happily ever after until a terrible secret is revealed—during climax.
Anything worth having is worth bleeding for—and boy will they bleed—but will it be enough to drain the taint of that secret, or will it be fatal for both of them?
Some things are more permanent than tattoos.

Overall, I enjoyed their story. These characters will put you through the ringer, so be prepared. At times I wanted to yell at them. So many things could have been avoided had they actually communicated! This was my first book by Verlene Landon and I plan on reading the next one.

First, I love the concept of this book, there’s so much chemistry with Erika and Walker that it’s explosive. Every author’s first book is worth taking a chance on just to watch them grow through their writing and this was not different.
The storyline was a little hard to follow at first because the POV switch so often, even in third person, that I felt like I was reading a tv script and was a little overwhelmed, but the plot was too good not to keep reading. As I progressed it seemed to flow better.
This wasn’t light and fluffy, the characters were raw and beautiful.
I loved falling in love with Erika and Walker’s journey, and everyone just wants them to be happy. Walker is this sweet, real, and healing tattoo artist that is wrongly judged, where Erika is the moonlight to his darkness. I loved watching their characters develop and grow. The emotions that pulled from me with this book were just… gah! I loved every moment of it.
Overall I enjoyed reading this HEA and am looking forward to reading books from the rest of the series.
Older woman, tattoo artist, second chance, slow burn
Loved this book! I’ll admit there were a few times I wanted to slap both main characters for their stubbornness, BUT…I still LOVED it!
This is my first Verlene Landon book but will definitely not be my last. I feel terrible now that it took me so long to read this gem.
Okay so first, I don’t recall reading a book with so many POVS but I loved it and it totally worked for me. Next, i couldn’t put it down, it had so many jaw dropping moments I actually gasped at one point!
I loved the story of 2 broken people who very clearly need each other to survive. The problem is neither of them believe themselves to be worthy enough for the other.
Even with the love and support of family and friends they still struggle.
It’s a roller coaster ride that will make you angry, sad & happy. The steam level is just right for me with just enough to make you want more but not so much that it takes away from this amazing story.
I can’t wait to start book 2 in this wonderful series! I will definitely recommend this book!
Erica loves Walker; but on the path to their happily ever after, they encounter a lot of bumps. Enjoy their journey.
This book, I couldn’t put it down. I started this book this afternoon and finished it early this evening. You get slammed into this story very quick already routing for something to happen. Just when you think it’s going to… it’s gone. UGH! I felt the itch of need burning in my soul for the result you aren’t sure is going to come. It was frustrating but by three quarters into the story I was determined to finish, as soon as I could. The characters are down to earth and relatable. Walker is a ex bad boy, with lots of sexy tattoos and Erika is an older woman that has a past of her own. This book wasn’t without complications, what good story doesn’t have some twists and turns. But if you are looking for a kick start to your emotions in a good way give this one a shot. I promise the itch will be scratched but maybe not like you think.
Wow! I couldn’t put it down. It was really well written and had several different POVs. There were some parts that I got very emotional over. As others have said the characters didn’t spend a lot of time together, but still a good read as they had to deal with and face their own problems and overcome them.
You’re gonna need a box of Kleenex for this one, but it’s worth it. Erika is a woman with a secret that hurts the man she loves. Walker, unwilling to listen to reason, hurts her in return with words spoken in anger. But they have a chance to work it all out with the help of loving friends and family hell bent on making sure they get an HEA. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll scream at Walker and Erika for being idiots and enjoy every minute of it!
