Ready to indulge her wanderlust, hotel server Louie finds herself stuck in Miami with a broken-down car. Her plans to skip town are foiled until a disheveled, handsome man makes her an offer she can’t refuse—five grand to act as his arm candy for the night. No strings attached. Desperate to get a promotion to VP, but sabotaged by his bachelor status, Marc panics and asks one of the workers at the … the workers at the company’s banquet to stand in as his date for the evening. Lying isn’t his forte, but with Louie at his side, he hopes he’s leveled the playing field.
Louie figures it would just be an adventure to laugh about later. But when his boss also insists she come along on their business cruise, Marc invites her, excited to see her again, even though they are only pretending at love. Charmed by his clumsiness and intelligence, she agrees, only to regret her decision when something continues to build between her and Marc. Something neither can consider acting on because…he’s paying her…and neither is willing to mix money with love.

Indeed is a great and funny story with enjoyable characters. Marc is in need of a date to help get a promotion and Louie is desperate for money. Pretending to be a couple is the perfect way for them to help each other. During their time together, the sparks fly and as much as they tried to ignore it, their chemistry was undeniable. Their clever and witty banter made for a entertaining and wonderful story. I recommend reading Indeed as you will not be disappointed.
Amabel Daniels, ‘Indeed’. (166 pag.)
As an ARC reader I received this book for free and promised an honest review. Here it is.
English isn’t my first language. Sorry for errors.
Rating: 4,5 (of 5) stars.
In general: Romantic ‘feel good’ novel.
Main characters:
– Louie.
Daughter of an independent hippie mother (Hazel). Louie constantly changed residence during her youth. Self made education. Out of curiosity and not knowing what she really wants she has a lot of different jobs.
– Marcus.
Senior analyst at a green energy firm in Dallas. His ambition is to become the new VP of the firm. But his boss (George) wants a married man for the position. And Brice, his competitor for the job, is in a permanent relationship with Ashley, his future fiancee.
Marcus meets Louie in a Sheraton restaurant where she works as a waitress and his firm has a party. There Marcus overhears his boss talking to chairmen of the company that he wants a new VP who’s a family man. So he needs a date immediately.
He asks the first nice looking girl he meets. And that’s Louie. He offers her money and promises her that he has no sexual intentions. The adventurous (but almost pennyless) Louie accepts his offer and joins him at the party. Marcus’ boss and his wife like Louie and they are invited for a short cruise in the Carribean. So the fake date took longer than expected.
Marcus and Louie like each other more and more. But will they fall in love after an escort date based on money and the career ambition of Marcus?
The author, Amabel Daniels, makes the best of a start of the book that’s a bit too good to be true. With funny dialogues, unexpected turns in the plot and a sassy heroin like Louie she creates a well written novel that was a pleasure to read.
R. Huiszoon.
This is the first book of Amabel’s that I have read. I enjoyed it! Louie was strong and independent to a fault. I loved the relationship she had with Hazel. Marc, where to start with him, his job was his life, again to a fault. Watching these two was tough. I recommend this read!
***Guest Review by mom, romance fanatic, and (someday) published author Summer Raines!***
Holy Beach Reads, Batman! This book will make a splash! *throws hands up* Okay, okay. Goofy joke. (I don’t promise it’ll be my last…) The author labeled this book a beach read with a fake date trope, so I brought it with me to the “beach” of our local lake. I read most of it while my other half fished, and the kids played in the edge of the water. It drew me in so well, I had to pretend not to be irritated when I got interrupted!
Seriously. You gotta love a heroine with sass and a trademark smirk. She’s got girl power down to a science and she’s not afraid to flaunt it. What’s better than a smart-ass heroine? A hunky hero who appreciates her wordplay and is smart enough to listen to her opinions.
Meet our hero, Marc, who comes apart at the seams when he inadvertently hears his boss insist that only a family man should be promoted to Vice President. It’s not fair! His marital status should have nothing to do with his ability to lead the company in remarkable new directions. His rival for the position has a girlfriend. He needs a girlfriend. Fast. He rushes through the employee only doors and searches for a server, any server, he hasn’t seen in the banquet hall yet.
Our heroine, Louie, lusts for an adventure in a new town. There’s only one kink in her plan. Her reliable jalopy just became an expensive bucket of bolts. Unwillingly to pay for repairs from the fund she’s saved for a rainy day, she decides her only option is to request an extension on the two weeks notice she’s already given her manager. Before she can ask, the problem seems to solve itself in the form of a sexy stranger who stumbles across her path and offers to pay her for a few hours of her time. One evening only. No strings attached.
Marc is a frenzied jumble of nerves and desperation as he propositions Louie with an easy way to make some fast cash. Despite his disordered appearance and clumsy manner, he’s undeniably sexy. That was temptation enough for her to consider it. Then he ups the ante until she can’t see a reason to say no.
Five grand to be arm candy? And she didn’t have to put out? Yeah, Louie wouldn’t mind adding this exploit to her stockpile of crazy stories! But dressing up and convincing his coworkers that they were in a solid relationship during one dinner wasn’t enough. Marc’s boss decides that she needs to sail away with Marc’s colleagues on a four-day business trip.
Habitually honest person that he is, Marc’s unclear whether he should be impressed or scared of Louie’s ability to gush bizarre anecdotes and be so intimate with a stranger. He only knows he picked the perfect person to help him secure his promotion. There’s only one kink in HIS plan. The yacht’s close quarters and Louie’s lovesick act are making the entire ordeal hard, (pun intended) but he offered her money to spend time with him. Meaning he can’t put sex on the table.
It’s not a pleasure cruise for Louie either. Unfortunately. She wouldn’t mind a little pleasure to relieve her from the torment that is Marc. Add the fact that she feels something real developing between them and she knows she’s in trouble. Can she resist the urge to mix money and love?
Full disclosure: We received an ARC from the author, free of charge.

A fake relationship to get a promotion, or at least that’s how the story started out. As with every story, it has it’s ups and downs. We get to know Marc and Louie and I really like them together. Overall a good read, a couple of glitches here and there, but enjoyable.
Marc needs a date and Louie needs money but, what started out as a one night assignment turned into a lot more. When Marc’s boss insists that Louie come along on a cruise things get complicated. This is a sweet story with interesting characters. I would definitely recommend this book.
This isn’t your typical boy meets girl romance story. Marcus hires Louie to pretend to be his girlfriend for a night hoping it will help him land a promotion. The night then turns into an unexpected weekend trip. The rest of the book they spend getting to know each other and you wonder will they make the relationship real or not. You have to read the book to find out. I really enjoyed it. Louie is a really fun , down to earth girl. Marcus is your everyday nerdy, boy next door workaholic. Do opposites really attract?
