Indebted to the Vampires (The House of Durand Book 1)
By Erin Bedford
5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the story Indebted to the Vampires (The House of Durand Book 1) by Erin Bedford. I love vampire stories, and this is a good example of the reason why. I loved reading about Piper. She is in need of a job and so takes one from the temp agency as a maid. I liked that Piper is a woman who is not afraid to speak her mind, even if what she says does at times get her into hot water. Her wit had me either smiling or laughing out loud. She soon finds out that her current employers have a secret. What could happen if she finds out their secret? This story has some steamy moments that will make the temperature in the room rise. Piper’s employers are mysterious, handsome, and charming. The book is told from Piper’s and her employer’s POV. The story has a sensual atmosphere and kept me turning pages to find out what would happen next. The author has done a wonderful job of writing a story that made me feel like I was right there with Piper and the other characters. Don’t miss out on an amazing story that you will not want to put down until you have read the final page. Highly recommended reading.
To avoid living in her car anymore, Piper takes a job for a housekeeper. From the moment she enters the mansion, it’s like she’s stepped back in time. The butler is the epitome of a stiff upper lip while his disdain for her is evident. Her mouth drops to the floor when she discovers not one but six of the sexiest men she’s ever seen. She’ll clean, do laundry but she draws the line at sleeping with her bosses, no matter how much she fantasizes about doing just that. When she discovers her bosses are vampires, she tries to leave but cannot because she can’t afford to pay them back for the vase she broke on her first day. She’s indebted to the vampires and she’ll stay because for the first time in her life, she’s got a family to call her own.
I was so excited to read this brand-new series by Erin Bedford. A brilliant author no matter the genre, she writes enthralling vampire romance. Piper is a clumsy heroine with a snarky inner dialogue. I laughed, swooned and nodded my head as she tries to maneuver through the ins and out of cleaning for six vampires. The sexual tension between Piper and the six vampires is thick and I can’t decide which vampire she’ll choose. My favorite is Rayne but it could also be Antoine. Maybe she should just live out her reverse harem fantasies and give the reader exactly what they want. Can’t wait for the next one in the series.
My Rating: 5 stars
I have read a lot of Erin Bedford’s previous release and thoroughly enjoyed them all. This one was no different! I love the way she develops her characters and I love how she can cross genre seamlessly! I love vampire stories and this was a fantastic take on them!! Keep up the amazing work!
This is another hit it outta the park from this author. Working as a maid is not something anyone looks forward to but we do what we must to survive. This is a good story with an interesting MC . I love when a book gives a reader humor, romance and good characters all together. I enjoy this author’s writing and I think that others will too. Try it. I recommend this as a good vampire story for all. Happy Reading!

I really loved this book so much!!!! just reading this first book in the series I know the series is a keeper and plan on buying the whole series!!! Really good author I can’t wait to read more by her. If you love 1 girl and 6 guys all trying to get her to fall for all them books your like this book. Besides that there are so many great things in this book I can’t put into words that well how much I love this book/series already!!!! 🙂
Piper needs a job so she joins a temp agency. They assign her to the Durand home as a maid. She first meets Wynn and cannot stop thinking about him. There are six brothers who live in the house. Piper finds all six brothers sexy and intriguing in their own way. The oldest is Antoine and he is head of the household. The rest of the brothers are Marcus, Wynn, Draconius (Drake), Allister, and Rayne.
Piper accidentally finds out that they are vampires. She is a little scared and decides to leave. Antoine convinces her to stay. She has many sexual fantasies involving the brothers. Towards the end she meets Valentine who is from their Sires’s house. He is not a nice person/vampire. The book was a fun and entertaining read. There were some hilarious moments. The interactions with the characters were witty and sizzling. The author has created wonderful characters. The story flows well with an ending that leaves you wanting to read the next book. I definitely look forward to book two in this series.
Piper needed a job and working for Master Antoine Durand, Marcus, Wynn, Allister, Drake, and Rayne seemed too good to be true. What could go wrong? Antoine and his vampire “brothers” hire Piper as their maid but don’t expect to become attached to the tiny little spitfire of a human. This funny and exciting story was interesting as romances were blooming and both Piper and the “brothers” held back from overstepping the line that Antoine had set. Intrigue and danger add a bit of drama to Piper and the Durand household. Fun read!
Down on her luck and forced to take a job as a maid Piper (FMC) finds out quickly exactly who shes working for and when she brakes a priceless vase things get more complicated for her. A house full of Vampires – Antoine, Marcus, Rayne, Wynn, Drake and Allister. Temperamental, sarcastic but at times oozing with charm and sexuality they dont make her life easy. Thats for sure!! I love Pipers quick wit, comes backs & internal monologues. Some are really funny. There are plenty of sexual tension in this book but its a slow burn (which i liked). Im loving reading it though and after that ending i cant wait to see what happens next
When a young woman gets a job with an agency to clean the home of a wealth man she gets more than she bargained for! After accidentally breaking a priceless vase she finds herself “indebted “ to the owners (five gorgeous… Vampires) this is a good read with plenty of sarcasm and humour to keep you reading (this book does end on a cliffhanger) I’d recommend this book and look forward to reading more.

This is book one of the House of Durand series and sees the main character Piper Billings forced to take a live in job as a maid, after a long list of failed jobs from a temp agency. She lost her full time job and has been forced to live out of her car, to make ends meet, so she has no choice. Meeting the butler Darren and then one of the masters of the house Wynn, her usual clumsy self, ends up with her knocking into a table and knocking over and breaking a very expensive vase, worth millions! When she finally meets the true master of the house Antoine, she is in debt and desperate, and now in a posh mansion full of very handsome men, all six of them! Antoine, Wynn, Marcus, twins Drake and Allister, and the youngest one Rayne.
What she doesn’t know, is that these men have an important secret that they don’t just trust to anyone. Her outspoken manner and clumsiness brings about loads of amusing interludes. No matter how much some of the household try to take advantage of her sexually, she pushes back against each and every one of them. She does find them all extremely attractive, in different ways and while in her alone time she may be having dreams or fantasies about some of them, she doesn’t realise that they are vampires and can smell and hear just about everything she thinks is private! Each of them has different special abilities in addition to being vampires and blood brothers. Rayne can read any of their thoughts and Piper’s are getting him into a twist!
When she accidently figures out their secret, when she should have stayed in her locked room, whilst they had a party night, they find she reacts completely differently than they expected or have ever experience in the past. They have gone through a lot of maids in the past, as none have manage to stop themselves from getting into bed with the men of the house, even going into their basement daytime sleeping beds and cosying up to one of them! Attempting to leave once she knows their secret isn’t going to happen, so she better get used to it! Problems get even worse when two visiting vampires come to the house for a meeting, both progeny of their same sire, who lives in a house where they believe humans are for food or to kill! She gets told not to open her mouth, but some of the comments being made about her, whilst she is within touching distance of these guests, are too much for Piper to put up with.
She may have put herself into an even more dangerous position, as an unclaimed human in the vampire world, she is considered a piece of property, no matter how much she may disagree with that! This was previously a novella in a boxset, but has definitely been fleshed out to three hundred pages of sexy vampires, a clumsy yet snarky maid who won’t put up with any guff from her bosses, and lots of fun interactions. She is teaching all of these vampires that human women are not playthings and she has an attitude to match her mouth, even if her brain doesn’t stop and filter it first, and no matter how her body might betray her reactions to all of them! A start to an obvious reverse harem story, but with some fun and games thrown into the story as certain characters clash. A modern woman and a house full of men from a different century and belief system is bound to bring about some conflict and a fun read. This is book 1 in a new series and so it does end with a cliffhanger. The plot is brilliant, and I loved the characters, they have a wonderful sense of humor. This certainly looks like it’s going to be a brilliant series.

Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters were intriguing. This story of Piper went looking for a job and was given one, she could not refuse. She was hired as a maid for six billionaire vampires. Piper was very clumsy breaking things. Piper did not know that they were vampires.

This is part of a series and end in a cliffhanger. Piper acts like an immature and oversexed teenager while the vampires are arrogant bossy and bullies and it was hard to relate or like any of them while I found the relationship between them lacking and boring at times. Piper is clumsy, selfish and whiny most of the time without much of a personality and she was very annoying. I did not feel that the story line had much depth to it and it really had a lot of promise in the beginning. I won’t be reading the remainder of the series as this book just did not capture my attention.

This didn’t go where I thought it would and I am still trying to decide how I feel about that since I was left on edge and wanting more. It’s a slow burn for sure but don’t expect anything substantial to happen here in terms of steam. There are lots of fantasies that have added on to the tension and longing. The mystery and suspense is what grabbed me and I loved the main character as she is no pushover. It does end on a cliffhanger but it was done so well that I am going to quickly pick up the next book.
Piper is desperate. The temp agency won’t give her any more chances if she screws up this live in maid job. She has no money, no friends and is living in her car. The house is more of a mansion and there are six distractingly hot brothers who live there, but Piper is determined to make this work. Then the flirting starts and strange things begin to happen that put her on edge. Piper is a wonderful, strong character who quickly has an unexpected effect on the Durands. She doesn’t react to anything as expected and it throws the household, and it’s occupants, off kilter. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.
This was a fun and entertaining read! Piper was both funny and yet annoying at times, and really made me laugh. The vampires were super hot and I love how it was told from different POVs. Though there was a lot of chemistry between them and Piper, it wasn’t too steamy of a book. This was an enjoyable story.
I received a free advanced review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my fair and honest opinion.

“Indebted to the Vampires” by Erin Bedford started its literary life as part of the “Realms & Rebels” box set (a paranormal RH compilation), in the form of short novel. This version has been reworked and lengthened to a full novel that reach almost 300 pages, which allow a more in deep exploration of all the characters involved.
The FMC, Piper is a young woman in desperately need of an income, which eventually drives her to accept some janitor opening provided by her temp agency. The house to clean, turn us to be a mansion, inhabited by six mysterious, rich and enticing guys, and filled with valuable objects, whose real price she cannot begin to fathom, which becomes painfully clear as she breaks a vase and has to come up for the cost, this is not Rome, cost are not always paid back in money .
As the title leads on this is a reverse harem story, but despite of the title, which to be honest I rather dislike, as it puts the reader into a single direction that doesn’t do justice to the story…. thus, despite the title, this is a very good constructed story, with a female MC that, regardless of being ‘trapped’ in a house full of ‘monsters’, can (and does) stand her ground and manages to get out the best of a bad situation, and find a family & home in the process.
The book depicts different POVs, even if not all (male)characters contribute equally to the plot and offers a couple of surprising twists that increase the interest of the reader. Regardless of the paranormal reverse harem setting this is a slow-burn story that focuses on Piper and her situation and how she deals with it. A good story; just beware of cliff-hangers ahead.
I liked this book so much I didn’t want to put it down. From the moment Piper walked into her new job with her clumsy self and her inability to keep her mouth shut, I wasn’t too sure what her employers would do. It left me very intrigued to see what happens next.
