Letting go is so very hard
I guess after you raise your mother keeping control becomes second nature and a way to survive. Well until the only thing worth surviving for is insisting on you relinquishing the reins. This book is a wonderful addition to the Windy City series. The author made this book so very realistic and I felt like I could just walk into the club and join them. I loved how the characters moved together to create this awesome story and how the author was able to infuse such emotion into the book. I especially enjoyed the way the characters pushed through the bumps in the road and found their HEA. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Dteamy and heartfelt.
Indebted Heart is the third book in the Windy City series. It could be read as a stand alone, but I feel like this book is much richer if you read the series in order. Alyssa is new to the city and determined to make her own way, but she was not expecting Alex. Their connection sends sparks, but will she be able to give in to her submissive side enough to please Alex?
Oh my, this book was just so good, from beginning to end, and I absolutely loved it! Alex and Alyssa stole my attention and I couldn’t stop thinking about their romance, even after I finished that last page! Alex was amazing, so kind and concerned, definitely a natural protector. I was actually surprised that he wasn’t more stern with Alyssa, but I loved that he gave her the independence she needed. Alyssa had me worried, sometimes, because she always seemed to push him away, had so many elusive layers and a huge wall to crumble before she let Alex get close. I thought she was a little manipulative at times, but it was in attempts to protect her heart. Their interactions had chemistry crackling between the pages and their scenes were a steamy delight. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend this series if you’re looking for a well written, emotionally driven, contemporary BDSM romance!
Ms. Stone is one of my favorite authors, and her Windy City series has captured my heart over and over again! This story again, has real life characters. They could be sitting next to you on the El, in a restaurant. The way Ms. Stone takes us through the build-up of a relationship, their dialogue, their struggles, their attraction (hot attraction), she nails it time after time for me! This is a series of books that I will read again they are That Good! Thank you for the wonderful entertainment Ms. Stone!
Alex and Allysa are brought together by a favour. Each has something that the other needs. But there are a lot of secrets, bumps and more that make this relationship a real challenge. Their D/s journey is intense, complex, compelling, heated, chemistry, laden and a wonderful read.
Another well written instalment in this group of friends lives
Alex and Alyssa are both strong and determined characters who have one heck of a battle to find their form of a D/s relationship, as well as to overcome the baggage life throws at them. I very much enjoyed their story, especially the fact that Alex wasn’t all perfect and infallible, though personally I might have made him grovel a LOT more than Alyssa did. However that might just have led to cutting my nose of to spite my face!
I love how these books blend ‘real life’ alongside both the developing relationship of the couple AND the BDSM relationship. You end up feeling as though you should be out with the group of friends each Friday night, being an emotional support when needed and offering advice. Whilst each book is stand alone, I would advice reading them in order just to gain the maximum understanding and enjoyment.
The BDSM is fairly low key and only in the bedroom, so this is suitable for those new to the genre, those who don’t like too much BDSM play or those who enjoy any level of kink in their books. It’s well written, with great characters and an engaging plot and I’m more than happy to recommend it.
Feels like I waited forever for Alex’s story. Getting glimpses of him with his friend zoned college friends I was thinking he wouldn’t be that stereotypical dumb a$$ when it came to matters of the heart. Was I wrong. It is steamy, full of love, friendship, family and acceptance. What I enjoy most are these are feel good books with a side of kink that are perfect for a Sunday read. Always an enjoyable escape.
The third book in the series and I keep repeating myself but these books are great. They are well written and not the mention hot.
What I love about Measha Stone’s writing is that her characters are so complex and developed. She puts a lot of detail and thought into the motives of the characters and their relationships. And her characters are likeable and not perfect which makes it easy to relate to.
Alyssa kinda broke my heart. She was a lot stronger and capable then she gave herself credit for. Loved how Alex took care of her and supported her in her dreams. I did wanted to smack Alex in the head for not telling everyone about the club. What was he thinking.
(less)
Alyssa and Alex make a very topsy-turvy couple but their story makes for interesting reading. So many little twists and roadblocks in their way, yet they fight for each other. The end has a turn that made my heart bleed, quite literally. I don’t think I’ve rooted for a character the way I did Alyssa.
Thoroughly enjoyable and definitely a re-read for the future.
I loved this so much as Alyssa proves her worth in life and Alex being such a strong Dom and protecting her with every decision carefully made oh and Paul what a sweetheart.
This had such good beautiful moments with so much passion and understanding and faults these to will melt your heart I am so happy and watching them go through everything day by day was all the things.
Can’t get enough of this series. Third in the series and even more emotionally driven than the first two. The author focuses on Alex and Allysa yet is able to weave in the close knit group of friends in such a way the reader feels like you should be receiving invites to their get together. I was ready to offer my support when characters ran into relationship problems, either as a shoulder to cry on or a swift hit upside the head. Such is this author’s ability to bring characters to life n your imagination. This is what Friends would be like in the non-comedy, non G-rated version – wonder where we’re going to dinner next week…
This is by far my favorite one in this series. I cried!!
Alyssa is so strong and smart that it breaks your heart that she cannot see that in herself. She is so used to taking care of herself that she doesn’t understand that caring people don’t expect anything in return for being a friend. What a sad but satisfying lesson to learn. I fell in love with Alex and Paul. I couldn’t help but laugh when Paul reveals a little of his marriage behind closed doors to Alex. Hee hee… This is a great series to read.
I read and reviewed a copy of this book.
Book three in the Windy City series. I am so loving this stand-alone series of interconnected characters. Having read the first two books, I think you’ll get a lot more out of the stories if you read them in order, because the Alex we have seen in the past is not quite the Alex we see now. Alex is part of the ever-expanding friend group. He keeps part of his life-the BDSM part-as secret as he can from his friends. Alyssa has moved to Chicago; she is desperately in need of a fresh start. Alyssa is a self-contained woman, but this is due to a lack of care & consistency in her life. It was great to see her blossom with friends. Her slowly developing relationship with Alex was just what she needed to become who she truly is. Worlds collide all over the place in this story, and I had fun watching it all unravel.
I received a copy of this book. My honest review is voluntarily provided.
This story shows how much damage a neglectful childhood can do to a person.
Alyssa packs up her meager belongings after her mother dies and moves to the city.
Convinced her education is only good enough for waitressing, she follows the recommendation of a friend and applies for a job at a BDSM club, balancing trays and customers egos.
The sparks start flying the minute the owner of the club sees her.
But being a submissive and a stubborn survivor make for stormy times ahead. Add to that a Dom falling hard and fast, feelings of unworthiness, a meddling poser, helpful friends, and you have another love story in the making.
Alex is looking for what the others have, but his life is like a rollercoaster rise. His job as an executive and his part ownership of the new club in town. Alyssa is moving to Chicago to get a new start on life and be near her benefactor Paul. She has a job interview at the new hot bdsm club in town which gives her a good chance at something. She gets the job and meets Alex. Unbeknown to her he is Paul’s son. Their journey will show you the real Alex but is ready for Alyssa. She comes with some bagage and a pestering ex that can destroy what she has in her life. A wonderful intense story.
In the third book, it’s Alex and Alyssa’s turn. She’s had a horrible childhood that left her doubting herself at every turn. The only bright spot in her young life was the man who almost hooked up with her mother but turned out to be someone who took care of her in the best way he could. Little did she know that he had a son who turns out to be Alex. And while in previous books, we see a care free Alex, in this book, we find out he has problems also. I’ll be honest, there were times I wanted to reach through the book and slap each of them upside the head. She keeps secrets from him and he keeps things from her and they find out how damaging that can be. Will they be able to stay together? What happens when Alex says things that instantly hurt Alyssa? I think this has been my favorite so far and I can’t wait to read the next book.
Wow. This is the third book on the Windy City Series and they each keep getting better and better. Alyssa who comes to the city for a job at Top Floor and falls for Alex the first time she see him, having no idea who he is related to. They do have there ups and downs and then her old Dom shows up t9 add to the problems, but love will win out. Enjoy this wonderful sexy book.
Another heart warming story in this series!
Alex and Alyssa is wonderfully written and is full of the ups and downs.
This is a delightful kinky romance!
This is Book 3 in the “Windy City” series and I was totally glued to my kindle throughout the entire book with the great character and plot development! Alex and Alyssa was a very likable couple and the chemistry was off the charts HOT which kept me totally engaged until the turn of the very last page!
I had felt sorry when Kendra and Kendrick got together but not any more, I am so glad Ms. Stone wrote Alex’s book straight after Secured Heart. Alyssa is just what Alex needs, someone to nurture just as his Dad has done (appropriately) since she was a little girl even though Alex didn’t know she existed. I say each book was my favourite and now I have decided I love them all equally and although it is helpful to have read the previous books and follow the characters it isn’t vital and each can be read as a stand-alone and enjoyed for the individual story. I am so looking forward to the next in the series.
