Alex has been the big brother, best friend and protector to his college friends Jessica, Kelly and Erin. As a favor to his dad, Paul, he takes to dinner Alyssa, and finds out she works for him at the club. Alyssa moved to Chicago to start a new chapter in her life, to forget about her childhood and a bad relationship. Alex is a Dominate who is not looking for another failed vanilla relationship. He needs a submissive, is Alyssa the submissive he is looking for? Only problem, Alex doesn’t mixed business with pleasure, but decides to see where his feelings lead him. Alyssa struggles with Alex’s rules at times leading to punishments, until he shows her with rules comes freedom.
This BDSM was sincerely tame. And I didn’t really care for the main characters. The girl was much too much of a wimp, and the Dom needed to put his foot down.
Another emotional addition to what is becoming one of my favorite series. This one focuses on Alex, one of the owners of Top Floor, and Alyssa, a girl that grew up on “the other side of the track” and has the internal scars to prove it. The opposites attract is huge in this one. Alex grew up in the lap of luxury with two doting parents and anything his heart could ever desire. Alyssa, on the other hand, grew up with a mom who’s only thought was for herself. The only reason she even had a child was because she thought it would be her meal ticket. In spite of this, Alyssa is strong, independent, caring, generous, and not at all bitter about the world she is determined to not drag her down. I loved the way they learned from each other about what it meant to find love and happiness and what really matters in life.
Alex is different from other Doms due to the fact that he doesn’t fly his dominant flag proudly. He is worried about what others will think if they find out about his desires. This added a new dimension to the story that kept it feeling original. Their relationship is full of half-truths and secrets, not jut the one’s they are keeping from each other, and that adds to the drama and emotional ups and downs. There are places in the story where I wanted to reach into the story and smack one of the characters. There were also places where I wanted to reach into the story hug one of them. Their backstories make them real enough that it’s easy to forget they only characters in a book. I love that all their insecurities, desires, hopes, and fears are laid out for the reader so the deeper connections can be made. These are the kind of people I would love to hang out with. I also love that the cast of characters is recurring since I loving seeing how each relationship develops over time. I can’t wait to see who gets their HEA next.
Believing in something good
—>>> Review Rating: 4.5 out of 5 star – Alyssa’s new start in the big city gets a running jump when she is paired with the son of a man who has been a father figure of sorts for her growing up, beginning with a new job, a new apartment, and a boss she is immediately attracted to. As a favor to his father, Alex agrees to show Alyssa around town, but he did not realize the impact she would have on him. When she realizes he is the also a co-owner of the new BDSM club she had just successfully interviewed at and begins to dodge his attentions when things get too close between them, it is only a matter of time before they give in to the way they feel. Many trials soon follow for them, made more difficult because of their work situations, but with the loving support of Alex’s closest friends and his father, they manage to sort themselves out into a great HEA. Alyssa’s character is amazing and very telling in how she is so prideful throughout the story. The secondary cast of characters are just as intriguing, and I hope to read their stories as well!
This is story of the 4th of 4 friends in the ‘Windy City’ series: Alex & his woman/sub, Alyssa.
This is a solid addition to the series, Alex has hovered in the background in the previous 3 books, a good friend, pleasant, supportive & a Dominant. And now, with Alyssa, it’s his turn to attempt to find his ‘one’.
As always, Ms Stone provides steam, angst, a plot that intrigues & well written characters readers care about, are invested in & root for a HEA for the couple.
Maybe a #5 ‘Windy City’?
My fingers are crossed . . . .
This is a full on Dom waiting for the right sub. Alyssa and Alex have a story that will make you cry, a full on Dom waiting to meet his own sub, but Alyssa has independence issues which Alex needs to decide is she the one. This is the story to get lost in the highs and lows make this a fabulous read. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review.

Indebted Heart is the third book in the Windy City series and can be read as a standalone. I however have loved all the book in this series so far and think that your missing out if you don’t read the first two. Plus it adds a little something to each book to read them in order. In this one we meet Alyssa who is new to the city and determined to make it on her own. The last thing she ever expects is for Alex to come into her life and want more than she is ready to give to anyone. Also, Alex is a dominant and while Alyssa has a submissive nature she has yet to explore it. Will Alex be the perfect one for her to try to discover this side of her? She will first have to get over her self doubt and her childhood. I thought this book was amazing and I loved watching Alyssa grow. I really loved this story and can’t wait for the next one.
Alex and Alyssa aren’t the playful, innocent kids that once were. He’s all Dom, and she’s looking for a D/s relationship, only not with the man she least expected – her boss. Can their hearts meet in the middle? Loved their explosive, hot story, especially with Alex in charge!
I am so in love with this series! Each book just gets better and better! This time it’s about Alex, a Dominant who is also a Club owner and is always deemed as the single best friend among all his friends. He would like more out of life, but he is crazy busy with work. When Alex meets Alyssa, a young woman who his Father knows from the past, he is instantly smitten. But when he finds she is working at his Club, he knows she needs to be hands off, but can he do that? Their chemistry is chart topping and he isn’t sure if he can hold himself back. Alyssa has had a very rough life and feels she never wants to owe anyone for anything, but she is also Submissive and hopes one day to find a Dominant who can understand that she needs her independence as well. Can Alex show her that she can have both in her life? This story really held me captive, so much so, that I read it in one sitting. I was just so into these characters that I believe they will always hold a special place in my heart. I’ve loved Alex’s character from the first two books, and this story just proves why. This was a truly enjoyable read and I can’t wait for the next book in this fabulous series!
This book starts out with Alex’s Dad asking him for a favor. His Dad has a friend who’s daughter is moving in to town and he would like Alex to show her around. Harmless right? What could go wrong? Alyssa is just a beautiful, young lady that Alex is now in charge of. Or is he? So good.
