5 INCUBUS stars! This book is a very good combination of the fantasy world & the Greek mythology.
Dear goodness of the readers please has mercy of me because Incubus by Celia Aaron has stolen my soul! This book is absolutely perfection. It left me with a big book hangover. Every page has me at the edge of a heart attack. I love the way Mrs Aaron combined the underworld and the Greek mythology. The concept is original and refreshing. She mixed the best of both worlds.
As a fan of the mystical and fantasy I enjoy this book like a little girl in a candy shop. Who doesn’t love vampires, demons and immortals?
This time Mrs Aaron created a fantastic world. I wonder what inspired her to write this book.
The story and the characters are well developed. It is told from both sides and it goes smoothly from past to present. I fall deep into the story. I imaged every scene. It was like a movie was playing in my head. I almost felt it real. That’s the magic created by a great author like Celia Aaron. Her writing amazes me every time. She can write her “to do list” and I would love it.
An incubus plus and immortal is a rare combination that made the things more interesting.
Here the heroine has made a mistake that lead her to lose her position as a warrior maiden in the service of a goddess. She will do anything to recover it. Lilah trusted the wrong man. But she will rectify her situation. She just needs to find Roth. The powerful incubus is her key to go back to the life she misses, to go back to Mount Olympus, her home.
“Danger was always the headiest aphrodisiac.”
Lilah will learn many things while spending time with the infamous incubus. She will not make the same mistake. She is determined to keep the walls that protect her heart but Roth will destroy each one. He is not what she expected.
“You will drive me mad, female… I loved the feel of her soft, warm body pressed against my hard, cold one. The very scent of her was an aphrodisiac.”
Roth is the hot dream of any woman with hot blood. During his life, as an incubus, he has bedded many women. The beast inside him is always hungry for sexual release. Until both crave the only woman that has not shown interest in them. She is more interested in writing his life than experiencing his sexual skills.
“Roth possessed me, claimed me with his wicked tongue and hard chest.”
Roth will let her stay with him and he will show her what his world is. There is something about Lilah that smitten him. It was like she was becoming his personal kind of drug. Her petite figure tamed the incubus inside him. The attraction is so intense that it clouded his senses. He will trust her. He will need her. She is the only one who can satisfy the beast.
“I relished the sheer power she gave me, enjoying her look, her scent. She was my goddess, and I was nothing more than a supplicant.”
Living with Roth will be a bittersweet experience for Lilah because she will discover the man behind the beast. She will meet the real Roth. Like her, his past haunted him.
“He was so gentle. Raw and unbelievably powerful at one moment, and the next, he was treating me like something precious, fragile even. I’d never know this kind of male before.”
Lilah and Roth will learn to trust each other. They desire what is forbidden. And at some point they will surrender to their desires. They will share lust and passion. Their worlds will collide in a sweet way. But bad deals and bad decisions could take them apart. Fighting will be their only choice.
“I would gladly lose myself in her. She already possessed my heart. The incubus would fall in line.”
Brownie points to this masterpiece because the story is set in Paris (Vivre l’amour).
Prepare yourself for a wonderful journey. Let Roth seduce you. He will make you crave things that you only read in fantasy books.
I have good vibes that Elena (aka Lilah’s best friend) and Paris (aka sexy vampire) deserve their own book.
“Since love grows within you, so beauty grows. For love is the beauty of the soul.”

Well, well, well…ladies and gentlemen, what we have here is some of the finest entertainment between two book covers you could ever hope for.
You like PNR, you’re in luck…
How about some Greek gods/goddesses and immortal demons, yep, they’re in there…
Werewolves and vampires (*shivers), we got those too…
Tie that all up with a bow in a love story about a sexy and dangerous immortal incubus and a bada$$, exiled, immortal female warrior on a mission, and you have hours of delightful escape.
Yes, there are some dark elements. The clashes between these deities are heart pounding, edge of your seat, watch through your fingers moments, but you can’t look away…immortals are so brutal !
I absolutely loved Incubus, something so different from the dark tales I’ve come to love from Celia Aaron, but I truly believe it’s a winner! PS…I think there’s more…she left us with some bread crumbs into the next episode!
Five stars all the way. My favorite genre will always be PNR but, dark pnr is even better. So this was obviously a no brainer. Loved Roth and Lilah’s story. Amazing characters that were beautifully written and so addicting.
AHHHHH!!!! My first full 5 stars of the year!!!!

Oh boy. I don’t even know where to start.
I love Celia Aaron’s writing. I was introduced to it by Blackwood. I have had this on my TBR list when I first saw it coming out. I finally got it and I am blown away.
Her world building of the Greek Gods and Goddesses was amazing. I love it. I also have a huge lady boner crush on Apollo. I did have one going for Ares but then he showed his ass and that stopped my lady bits from tingling for him.
Lilah once fell in love but only to feel first love betrayal sting. No longer a maiden of Artemis due to her transgression, she will do anything to get back on the Goddess’s good graces. Even if that means pursuing Roth de Lis and the bounty on his head.
Roth and Lilah is a slow build with much sexual tension. I loved it!!! I don’t think there was one thing I hated about this book.
Roth may have been an incubus but he can have my heart any day of the week. Unless Apollo beats him to it.
Even though I started this on Saturday I only got to chapter 7 before I became busy with Wy’s birthday get together. Sunday I had time to myself but my brain thought it would be a good time to sleep. So I didn’t get to pick this up till around bedtime which then I had to force myself to put it down and get some more sleep. That I think was around 1:30 in the morning. Finally finishing it today and I am utterly speechless. I expected to like the story but not as much as I did.
Now… what the hell am I suppose to read now?
Love Celia Aarons work and as what I have read previously is of a contemporary nature (The Acquisition series) I was excited to see what she would produce in regards to a paranormal offering.
“Incubus” was a really great start to a new series.
It did initially take me a short while to get into the groove with this, but when I did this was magic in motion.
I really do feel this may have been more to do with the fact that I have not read this genre for a while so I was a bit out of whack overall.
So anyway incubus is about Roth de Lis an Incubus and Lilah, once the warrior of the goddess Artemis, expelled from her home on Mount Olympus after falling for and succumbing to the charms of a male.
Lilah will do anything to earn her place back at her goddesses side.
Including making a deal with the god of war Ares (despite him being a psychotic nutter) to bring him said Incubus, Roth de Lis. using herself as collateral (so not smart.)
After locating and tricking her way into Roth’s home which he shares with his delightful butler a jealous harpy of a succubus and an enchanting Nymph and With a totally biased stereotypical opinion of Roth, Lilah soon learns her preconceptions regarding the incubus are way off base.
So I found Incubus to be a delightful tale that once I got into my stride made for some very easy enjoyable reading our two main characters were both extremely likeable and along the way, we are also introduced to some very intriguing secondary players.
This was so very different from what I have read of this author previously and let me just say, Celia Aaron, can so do paranormal, she didn’t disappoint here and she so rocked this genre, throwing the ball right out of the field.
I also was really digging the fall hook line and sinker for each over vibe that Incubus gave off it made for such a refreshing change.
Don’t get me wrong this is no insta-love tale but when these two eventually connect I got tingles down to my toes, every time Roth whispered Carissima I melted into a puddle of goo.
And when he chased after Lilah wanting to save her well let’s just say my heart was pitter-pattering like a big ole softie of a girl. (which I so am )
So it’s safe to say, I have absolutely no problem recommending this to my fellow paranormal lovers.
Overall I found this to be a really enjoyable and positive experience and I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Should just mention that Incubus is available free on KU.

Wow….just finished this fantastical romance…and just, WOW. I will probably go back & edit this review later as I’m a little drunk on the book right now, lol. First off, Celia…..freaking adore her writing….love all her books….so when I find out she’s doing a paranormal romance?!?!? *dead* Paranormal is my first love, I fell into the whirlpool of romance last year-so to combine the two? Combustible. Second, that cover…it’s freaking gorgeous & I would pretty much give a kidney for it to be signed and my “shelf of loves”;) Third…..the story revolves around the Greek Gods…mythology.. and it was so beautiful & interesting to read. Lilah is one of Artemis warrior maiden (yup, as in virgin, as in forsaking men) and she truly loves her Goddess but yearns for more. In the story there are many flashbacks which explain how she gets cast out of the warrior fold, and normally? I don’t like constant glimpses into the past, but it’s CELIA and she is ah-mazing, lol….I found myself anxious for the next piece to be shown to be….completely enthralled by the ways of the Gods. And Lilah…keeping with Celia’s theme of kick-ass chicks, she does not disappoint! Even without her godly powers, Lilah uses e everything in her repertoire to stay alive…she’s cunning…she’s witty….she’s highly resourceful. Loved her, freaking loved her. Roth….ages old Incubus….hella powerful…and pretty much over it, lol. Until Lilah, until he feels again…more than the hunger the demon inside screaming to be sated… he is genuinely interested in her, ALL of her….and he knows her seeking him out isn’t quite what she says it is…he knows it means trouble for him. But he could care less, he will do anything to keep her around. The chemistry isn’t just on him though, she feels it too…she is aroused in ways she never knew, introduced into a world of sexual hunger & need. Totally not going to spoil this freaking fantastic read so if you want to know what happens? Buy this, devour this, because you will love it!!!!
4.5 stars
If you have any doubts about the abilities of this writer to charm, sway, and notice you…keep reading. If you have already fallen for one or all of her characters…keep reading. Either way you won’t be disappointed.
Incubus has such an unusual story that it’s hard not to be drawn to it. To be drawn to the allure of such a creature…
I was not only lured in by the author but by the blurb. Soon after starting it, I began to experience all the effects the Incubus has to offer. Lust began to cloud my mind. A need to fulfill his every desire. I am still ready to serve him. I have a feeling you will too.
It was a delight to read and absolutely left me in the state of a succubus. Guess I will need to work on that!
I absolutely hope there is more where this came from because there are so many characters I want to know more about.
reviewed for Sweet Spot Sisterhood
When I started writing this review I was really conflicted because this is such a good book, it hits everything you could want in a paranormal romance. But anything I seem to come up with didn’t seem to hit the mark. So here is what I came up with after an hour of debate.
Incubus is the start of what is shaping up to be the start of a wonderful series. Roth and Lilah are an unexpected couple which to say it takes a long time for them to get there. This wonderful story takes you from Mount Olympus to our world, to Hell. Lilah and Roth are complicated beautifully written characters that bring the paranormal world to life. This is a must read! I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.
I’m very picky when it comes to paranormal reads but Celia Aaron has once again demonstrated her skillful versatility as a writer.
The story of Roth and Lila was well written, and the characters well developed. Their Greek mythological romance was engaging and easy to follow read.
3.5 stars!
I have to start this review by stating that this is best read if 2017 for me. It was so much more than I was expecting. I truly believe that this story is a MUST ADD to anyone’s reading list (I have added it to my favorites file, and read it twice in three days).
This is 56 chapters of romance, epic adventure, and a story spanning centuries. It is a mini Iliad/Odyssey. If Homer were alive today and wanted to write an adventure romance novel, he would scrap his ideas because Celia Aaron had already beaten him to it! In this story you also get mini crash course in Greek mythology. We as readers get to interact with (among many others): deities, wolfs, vampires, gods, incubuses, succubus, nymphs, and Voltaire himself!
The story starts out with Lilah, an immortal who is hunting the allusive Roth de Lis in a supernatural night club, Red Handed. We are introduced to her in the most delicious way. We find that she is strong, determined, brilliant, and beautiful. She can kick a** and think her way out of any situation (she is a warrior maiden, after all). Lilah was banished from her “elysian homeland” for breaking her deity’s (Artemis) rules. Throughout most of the story Lilah is determined to get back to her home world and back into the arms of her beloved Artemis. This story is her adventure of meeting with different God’s, following their challenges to do just that. What Lilah was not expecting, was Roth.
Roth is an immortal as well, maybe the most powerful incubus in the world. He is known the world over for his “love of the flesh… and ability to please.” One night he goes in search of this new woman who is tracking him down to get answers to his questions: Why is she trying to find him? What does she want? And who sent her? He gets these answers and so much more.
Lilah and Roth come to an agreement and this is where the story truly begins. The story is written in dual narration, but also hops back and forth between the present and the past; the story is linear, just in different centuries. It was so great to read a bit of the present and just when you had a question about the past, the story switched and you got to read the answer to your question. I loved the portrayal of Apollo in this story, he really came to life and I was pleased with the liberties that this author took with the different deities personalities. The secondary characters are just as amazing and really add to the story. It is not often that you find a story that could be carried by the secondary characters unaided (if needed). It just proves the brilliance of this story and this author.
I could go on and on but it is best if you just read the story for yourself. I will say this, the first time I read the story I felt it was mostly an adventure read, but the second time I read it I felt it was a great romance. It can be both as it crosses so many categories, and takes you on the adventure of your life. I will leave you here and wish you a safe journey as you embark on this wonderful adventure.
Holy Hot Fantasies, Celia takes the precise perfect blend of magic, mythology, and romance, oh my goddess I love it.
Interesting, sexy, read, with the perfect amount of action.
