“My heart beats only for you.”
Angsty rock star romances always make my heart race, and when you add some pulse pounding danger into the mix, I am a total goner!! INCOGNITO is my first book by the mega talented Siobhan Davis and it truly struck all the right notes!!!!
THE STORY:
This is the tender-hearted tale of a beautiful aspiring dancer named Dakota Gray whose dreams of attending Julliard crashed and burned when unspeakable tragedy rocked her world. Now one year later, she is enrolled at the University of Iowa, valiantly trying to put her life back together. But her heart is still weighed down with so much grief, pain and sorrow. Dancing on the rooftop of an abandoned building every night is the only time her soul takes flight, enabling her to escape the crippling emotions assailing her. But then one evening out of the shadows steps Levi, who just so happens to be the magnetically handsome hottie who recently planted a scorching hot kiss on her to stick it to her jerky ex ! Then gave her the ROYAL BRUSH OFF!
“Levi Quinn” had no clue that his beautiful midnight dancer, whom he’d been watching from afar, is actually “Blondie” from his accounting class. He may have screwed up big-time with Dakota, but the memory of her sweet lips beneath his is permanently emblazoned on his brain. And he wants more!! But unbeknownst to Dakota, he is no ordinary college student. In reality, this arrogantly smexy bad boy is really world famous pop star Shawn Lucas who is hiding in plain sight on campus, trying to stay one step ahead of a crazed stalker.
As it turns out, living incognito at the U of I just might be the best decision he’s ever made. For the hefty price of superstardom not only put him in grave danger, but he has lost his musical mojo a well. But watching Dakota dance each night soothed his damaged psyche and reignited that creative spark inside of him,
“There is something so alluring about the way she dances, something that speaks to secret pain, that calls out to me.”
Although they both try to resist temptation, the chemical attraction soon proves impossible to deny and love and passion ignite! Can these two lost, kindred spirits find sweet harmony together, or will secrets and lies, and dark, sinister forces, once again shatter their hopes and dreams?
MY THOUGHTS:
Holy Hot tamale…INCOGNITO was fanfreakingtastic! If you love a WILDLY ADDICTIVE rock star romance with SMOLDERING PASSION, THRILLING TWISTS AND TURNS, and JUICY DRAMA GALORE…then this book is a must read!
This is very much a “slow-burning, love conquers all” kind of romance, featuring two tormented artists who are struggling so mightily to find their way in the world! The scorching chemistry between Shawn and Dakota just SIZZLES off the page as these two soulmates set each other’s worlds on fire!! And the sex is flaming hot!!!
I just love me a swoon-worthy rock star BBF, and Shawn sure fit the bill! He’s so strong and virile, and OOZES charisma, but this former addict’s life is not nearly as idyllic as it may seem. More than anything, he craves normalcy but as one of the most recognized pop vocal artists in the world, that’s a feat impossible. However when treacherous circumstances put Shawn on the university campus, and in Dakota’s orbit, this burned out rock star falls head over heels in love…and feels musically inspired for the first time in ages!!! Sighhh…despite his own emotional upheaval this gorgeous, guitar-strumming hero is just so darn sweet and chivalrous toward Dakota, and he COMPLETELY STOLE MY HEART!
As for Dakota—a fascinating fusion of “fiery and sweet, mischievous and sad” —she is an extremely relatable heroine. But SOB…oh how I ached for her! The poor girl is haunted by a past that continues to plague every facet of her life and her home life is less than happy. Her most cherished dream is to become a dancer but an unspeakable tragedy forced her to put those aspirations on hold. However, when she meets Shawn, he opens up a world of brand new possibilities! And, despite the fact that everything about this enigmatic hunk screams HEARTBREAK, she can’t help but crave every magnificent, rock-hard inch of this sinfully sexy popstar in disguise.
I really enjoyed Siobhan Davis’ writing style. The narrative is engaging, the characters embed themselves deep inside your heart, and I was really swept up in the vibrant Midwestern campus setting! She also sensitively explored some hard hitting topics with much sensitivity and finesse. And one of the biggest draws of this story for me was how the powerfully seductive allure of music and dance was woven throughout as these two headstrong lovers embarked on their slow, sultry romantic tango. It’s oh so breathtaking to bear witness to Kota becoming the muse this jaded rocker has been desperately searching for, whilst Shawn becomes the balm to her bereft, grief-stricken soul. But with the ever present danger looming overhead, their future is far from certain! And when all the secrets and lies, danger and treachery come to a head, brace yourself for a heart-stopping climax guaranteed to LEAVE YOU BREATHLESS!
Ultimately, this story was STELLAR from start to finish. That said, it did kind of bug me how the heroine kept jumping to the wrong conclusions about the hero, propelling him to grovel until she would listen to reason. And secondly, the story did fall prey to some clichés at times (such as the catty female side characters, the mean, despicable daddy, and the WAY OVERUSED trope of the high school boyfriend cheating on the heroine with her disloyal bff). However, in all honesty, these kind of superficial conflicts are par for the course in college romances, so I will give the author a bit of a pass on that front since the rest of the plot was so compelling!
BOTTOM LINE:
INCOGNITO is a sweet, sexy and suspenseful rock star romance that I highly recommend!
After reading all books of the Kennedy boys series and enjoying them i wanted to to know if Sihoban can also write a rockstar romance.
I’m proud to say she can. Because i got a really intense story about a broken girl and mysterious Guy. Even if both of didn’t meet in the beginning of the Story i would say their love story developed in the right way and time.
But there had been moments were i was bit annoyed by our hero because in these moments he knew what he had to do but he just doesn’t did it. But also while reading i really enjoyed How Shawn had found in to his Role more and.
Miss Davis wrote a rockstar story which showed that fame is not only positiv. And our male protagonist makes a really interesting Journey to him self.
They way in wich the story was told was really grate because every other person besides our protaganists got his own place to shine in there own way.
But at some point i had the feeling the story got to good and that soon something bad must happen.
In these story grief is a theme again in a special way and i liked the way the author dealt with it.
Most time while reading i was totally drawn to this story. Because the style of writing.
It was hard to but the book down because i waned to know how both of them act in the next chapter.
Also it was easy to get the thoughts and feelings of both our characters.
Dakota is a young woman who is a very talented dancer, who is a bit shy at same time. But also she always find a way get what she wants.
Shawn was an amazing character even if he was famous he stayed on the ground. He definitely was able to handle hard Situation in a good way even it he made flaws. He fights also for what is important to him.
In the these book was a good read. The auhtor showed that fame is not easy in the most times. But being in incognito also. It was a really nice and emotional read. It was easy to get in to the situation and there were a lot of humor and feeling involved. Four of five stars from me.
I will not be giving away any spoilers of any kind because I do not like to do that!
So this is all I’m going to say about this book and that is I thought it was a very good story. I enjoyed reading it and getting lost in it pages. And I’m going to leave it at that. Siobhan Davis most definitely knows how to weave her stories, she definitely knows how to capture her readers attention and keep them hooked the whole time they are reading her books. Great characters and wonderful realities in all her books!
So yes I do recommend this book to anyone who’s interested in crawling into this story and getting lost within its pages.
Incognito by Siobhan Davis is a brand new stand alone New Adult romance. Told in dual POV, this secret identity rock-star romance was my first introduction to her work. It was emotional, angsty, didn’t hold anything back be it light or dark aspects of the characters and was a refreshing romantic read.
Dakota has been through more than any college student should have been through. She lost her sister her senior year in high school, is dealing with issues with her parents, gave up her position at Juilliard and is only just settling in to life at the state university.
Shawn/Levi has been through more than any young rockstar should. At his young age he has already been addicted and gone through rehab, is estranged from his mother and younger half brothers, and now has a murderous stalker to deal with. Hence his “Incognito” role at the state university as Levi, accounting student, not Shawn the pop star.
The moments of raw emotional pain that both of these characters experience is palpable through the pages, as is their passion for their art and for each other. The way they manage to keep working through the roadblocks life throws at them is a testament to their love. Complete with a happily ever after this was a wonderful romantic read. Enjoy!
Incognito was my first Siobhan Davis book and it was AMAZING!!!! As far as the fact that this was my first book by this author, I know, I know… I am questioning what rock I just crawled out from under myself! If this is what I have to look forward to, I am seriously going to need to take a month off my blog commitments and catch up in every book she’s written because I freaking LOVED Incognito. Without repeating the blurb, or giving a spoiler-esque review, I am going to make it very simple – pop superstar hero and a small-town college heroine meet under extreme circumstances. And a whole lot of angst and sexiness transpire from there. Trust me, nothing I could write regarding the synopsis of this book would be better than the one Siobhan wrote for us! Instead, allow me to tell you why I loved this book so much!
Incognito was so many things that I am only going to touch on a few of the ones that I loved in this review. However, should you read it for yourself, I have no doubt that you will be able to add considerably to my list. First and foremost, Incognito was extremely well written. I often find that while I read, I critique books or get lost in the mistakes that have been missed in the editing and/or proofreading process. Therefore, I don’t always enjoy the story as much overall. It’s hard to see your own mistakes when you’re writing, and that’s why its so important to hire someone to go through your story objectively. I cannot tell you how much I value a book lacking excessive errors. When I don’t have to put my work cap on or highlight the crap out of a book, I feel like the authors deserve attention kudos and that’s the reason I am addressing my feelings in this review. I read an ARC of Incognito and would have expected to find some measure of mistakes as they are often still in the process of having a second edit (or in the hands of a proofreader). I was impressed by how well-edited Incognito was and was thus able to surrender to the story itself.
Incognito’s plot was equally brilliant and beautiful. Possessing an excellent combination of angst, sweet and sizzle made this enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance a perfect choice for any reader. Now, Rockstar romances tend to be some of my favorite reads and it was that link that had me jumping all over the story when I first read the blurb. I do have authors that I automatically one-click each book they release, and I have heard of Siobhan before, but never had the chance to grab a book she’s written. That all changed when I read the blurb for Incognito since I was so intrigued! Now I can tell you that this book truly delivered a plot that kept me turning pages for hours on end. The story was mostly unpredictable and the things that I figured out ahead of time were trivial.
Another major seller for me was how much I loved the characters in Incognito. That includes both the primary and secondary characters. Incidentally, some of those secondary characters I loved enough to hope I will get to read about them being on the receiving end of their own HEAs! As far as our hero and heroine of Incognito, they had amazing dynamics! Shawn was the sexy as sin Rockstar, who had reached the point in his fame where everyone looked at him as a meal ticket. He was jaded and justifiably so! His surly nature seemed to be limited to Dakota but the sparks that flew every time they were together nearly ignited my kindle and made the eventual surrender all the sweeter. I loved how Shawn stepped out of his comfort zone and took chances with regards to Dakota that he hadn’t with any woman in his past. While he is partly to blame for issues that arise between them, he also doesn’t hesitate at making things right between the pair repeatedly. As far as a heroine, I loved Dakota. She is beautiful inside and out but her snarky side was fabulous! She wasn’t a pushover and called out everyone the same way I do! She is incredibly strong which is deftly exhibited as we delve farther into her story. Dakota’s family tragedy was shocking for me – I truly didn’t see that twist coming. Both hero and heroine showed character progression, yet Dakota’s spoke to me the most. If I had experienced half of the horrors that she found herself living, I am not sure that I would’ve been able to get out of the fetal position – much less go away to College! She continued to be hit while she was down again, and again until I expected she would break. Only Siobhan took Dakota on a journey I wasn’t expecting, and I loved that there was no formula for this romance. (Or at least no formula past boy meets girl, boy likes girl, HEA ensues! ) As a romance novel, I expected passion. Yet, the passion I expected in Incognito was superseded in intensity and I loved just how sexy the story got! I literally needed a change of panties and a cold shower before I had gotten halfway through the book.
As I stated above, there really are more reasons to read Incognito and I have just touched on a few important ones to me. If you are like me and just finding Siobhan Davis, don’t pass up your chance to read this story. I already one-clicked several more titles by the author just based on my love of this book. If you are a longtime fan of Siobhan then you know that everything I wrote about in this review is already true. As a matter of fact, I am surprised you even read the reviews but regardless, don’t miss Incognito!
4.25 STARS
In the aftermath of a devastating tragedy, aspiring dancer, Dakota Gray, abandons her dream of attending Julliard in favor of sticking close to home—a noble, yet misguided attempt to repair the remnants of her shattered family. But that doesn’t stop Dakota from falling to the rhythm of her heart. Emotion seeping through every movement, she dances with abandon atop a deserted roof—and always at the stroke of midnight. Dangerous, though it might be, Dakota’s midnight ritual helps to unleash the anguish that holds her tightly in its grip.
With a crazed stalker on the loose, rock star, Shawn Lucas, hides in plain sight when he shrouds himself under the cloak of a college student named Levi Quinn. And with a security team that’s working diligently to take the stalker down, Shawn/Levi enjoys some much needed normalcy while rediscovering his musical roots. In the process, he discovers a mysterious midnight dancer who quickly becomes his creative muse. Little did he know, that she would soon become so much more!
Despite Shawn’s desire to cross a line with Dakota that would draw her further into his orbit, his protective nature has him struggling to maintain a safe distance. Hence, Shawn/Levi’s push and pull behavior leaves Dakota feeling angry, confused and completely off-balance. And though their romance is slow building, when this couple finally does give in to temptation, things heat up really fast, setting their union ablaze!
With each passing moment spent with Dakota, Shawn/Levi feels the weight of his deception continually bearing down. And just when he’s about to finally come clean, a myriad of events threaten to expose the truth before he’s even had the chance. Add to the mix an interfering nemesis and missed opportunities to adequately communicate, and the future becomes shaky and unclear. But a truthful revelation, coupled with a swoon-worthy moment, just might lead to the HEA their story deserves.
Boasting a unique, intriguing premise with interesting, likeable characters—two of whom we’ve been introduced to before—“Incognito” pulled me in right from the very start. It’s an engaging story that touches on some heavy topics, but does so in a very respectable way. Their romance hits all the right chords and their chemistry is off the charts. And the element of suspense is definitely an added plus.
My biggest issue is over the use of miscommunication to drive the plot forward. I personally find this tactic irritating and unimaginative, but this opinion is across the board and not just limited to this specific book. Trusting in those who have a proven track record to the contrary, is also a familiar trap that has befallen many book protagonists. But in Shawn’s case, his trust was blatant and naïve, and I could see the resulting fallout long before it actually occurred.
That said, “Incognito” is still quite an enjoyable read and one I would highly recommend. Siobhan Davis has quickly become one of my favorite “go to” authors, and I’ve yet to read one of her books that hasn’t garnered at least a 4 star rating, if not a 5. And this latest release of hers is certainly no exception.
After reading this story it’s hard to believe that it has taken me this long to read one of Siobhan Davis’ books, but I’ve got to say that this was perhaps the best introduction into her beautifully captivating storytelling and I cannot wait to see what else she has to offer.
Incognito by Siobhan Davis is a slow burning romance with the perfect amount of suspense to captivate any readers heart and will keep them hook, line and sinker until the very end! This is a story about a rockstar in hiding who finds himself falling for a beautiful college student who gave up her dreams of being a dancer after tragedy struck her family and a year later she is still trying to find her footing in shoes she never expected to wear. For her life will never be the same and the last thing she anticipated was falling for a man who had a secret. Together they rediscover themselves and find a connection like no other. Their love story pulled on all of my heartstrings and I couldn’t help but root for these two right from their first encounter!
The romance and suspense certainly kept my on the edge of my seat in anticipation and I couldn’t put it down! This story certainly had a lot of heart and I strongly recommend one-clicking yourself a copy right now!
Holy fricking cow this book was just amazing!! This is definitely not one of your usual rockstar romances. The pop star in hiding was something that peeked my interest and Dakota’s story just had me in tears. The world building and characters fit so perfectly together that you can imagine sitting in the room and watching what is happening in front of your eyes
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book. Absolutely LOVED this book! The storyline, characters, writer, EVERYTHING was so wonderful! I loved this so much! This author is a wonderful storyteller, I didn’t want to put it down. READ IT!
Another great read from Ms. Davis. Everything you want in a contemporary love story: believable characters, drama, twists and turns, hot scenes. Loved the two main characters- Shawn, the young rockstar in hiding and Dakota, the would be ballerina forced to lead a different life, due to unforeseen circumstances – a terrible tragedy which struck her family. The story obviously revolves around our young couple , however minor characters also play a huge role. Dakota’s friend, Tabs adds a touch of humour with her honest, no nonsense, slightly over the top wisecracks. Really appreciated the banter. It takes the edge off the dramatic side. Ms Davis always manages to get the right balance in her story telling.
Unputdownable as ever.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC from the author herself.
Another great book from Siobhan Davis.
Shawn is sexy and sweet. Hes an artist/ popstar who is lost and not loving where life is leading. When you have a life that comes with money and fame, people want something from it, from you…. they just dont want you alone…
My heart went to Dakota such tragedy rippled through her life. She’s a strong young woman who is trying to find a way to be happy and unafraid.
When you let your heart open and share what threatens to weaken you, you instantly become stronger.
I really enjoyed reading this book. This is a sweet and sexy rocker meets ‘small town’ college girl story with just a bit of steam. Both parties have been exposed to similar negative past experiences, and still manage to discover their love for one another, despite that fact. If you are a fan of rock romances with a bit of looming danger and overcoming the odds, you’ll enjoy reading this story.
OMG, Davis knocks it out of the ball park again! I absolutely loved the fire between these two characters. And in total Davis fashion she took this story and twisted and turned it around on you. Just when you thought you knew which direction it was going to go she pulls the rug out from under you and leaves you to pick your jaw up off of the ground. Don’t believe me? Check it out for yourself! I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.
5 INCOGNITO STARS!! This book was off the charts for me, I loved everything about it. There was so many feels, suspense, sexy times and fantastic characters. Shawn is a sexy as sin rock star and Dakota is a beautiful college student that is broken from a tragedy. These two have a story to tell you and it is unforgettable. This author has weaved the perfect story that sucks you in. Do not miss this incredible story.
Siobhan Davis is a new to me author, after reading the blurb to Incognito i couldn’t wait to dive in. I love college romances but i haven’t read too many rockstar reads. So i was very intrigued to how this story would work……
Work out it did, i loved the mixture of the two Genres for this stand alone HEA story.
Shawn/Levi needs to go into hiding after receiving a lot of threats and it’s only escalating to break-ins at his home to serious death threats. He and his management team think it’s best for him to go incognito. They set him up with a fake persona and enrol him in college. He’s suppose to get his head down, keep himself to himself and plan his next album. Little does Shawn know but his life is about to change. And that comes in way of his new muse…….
“My midnight dancer”
Dakota is a broken soul, she’s haunted by a traumatic past. She isn’t living the life she wanted for herself. She is just going through the motions of life trying to be there for her family and be something and someone she just isn’t. Her only reprieve from this life and the only time she lets herself be her true self. Is at night when she takes herself off to an abandoned warehouse and dances on the roof!!
I love going into a story blind, i hate reading reviews where they write the plot out start to finish. So i’m not giving anymore, i really don’t want to spoil the intrigue and mystery. To this breathtaking and passionate college/rockstar romance read. I will say that this won’t be my last Siobhan Davis read. I’m really looking forward to getting to know more of her stories.
This book was a great read! I’m definitely a true fan of Siobhan and love all her books! This story was page turner for sure. I really, really didn’t want to put it down. I thought about it even after being forced to take a break and go back to real life. I was so caught up in Kota and Shawns story I would of liked to of stayed home from work to finish it in one sitting. This college/pop star story was unique and different with a twist from anything I’ve come a crossed lately and I really enjoyed it! Looking for a little hint of mystery and suspense but mostly romance? This book would be good for you!
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance complimentary copy of this book.
Final Score – 4.5 Stars!
Shawn is a rock star in hiding. He’s overcome addiction but now that he’s on the brink of a new normal – there’s a new threat that is not only trying to undermine his recovery, but want to hurt him as well. His security team decides that he needs to lay low and step out of the spot light.
Dakota is a young college student. Tragedy marks her life and she’s had to give up her dream of dancing. Her family hasn’t fully recovered and neither has she. Her father is ambivalent and her mother has disappeared into herself. Lost and alone, Dakota’s only solace is dancing on a rooftop a midnight – a way of expunging her fears and longing for who she once was.
Neither Dakota nor Shawn have any interest in romance – however, their mutual attraction and chemistry cannot be denied.
Siobhan Davis formulates that perfect mix of romance, danger, and suspense with her latest masterpiece. I was glued and engrossed in this story and never wanted it end. INCOGNITO is a slow-burn, utterly romantic story about two lost souls who are both in hiding and struggling to find their true selves.
This is my first book by Siobhan Davis and most definitely won’t be my last. Ms. Davis tells a wonderfully written and captivating story with endearing characters you can’t help but love. This heartfelt romance filled with a great mix of tragedy, grief, angst, secrets, suspense, danger, and steamy scenes with some plot twists thrown in, will keep you turning the pages in this rock star romance story.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
This book is a college romance like no other. Dakota is suffering from a loss that makes her whole world shift. Now she is at a college she didn’t plan to be at, in a major she doesn’t care about. She is basically just existing. That is until Shawn shows up and changes everything.
Shawn is a young rockstar who has grown up in the spotlight. He is finally trying to grow up and change how he has been living. Shawn is out of rehab and living a clean, groupie free life. That is until his new stalker breaks unto his house and he must go into hiding until they are caught.
I enjoyed the connection that these two characters have. They are like magnets that keep getting pulled together, even when they fight it. How Dakota allows herself to show the emotions she been hiding is heartbreakingly good. Also, I love the close friendships that Dakota has with Elsa, Tabs & Daisy. This book has so many happy emotions, heart-wrenching scenes and some on edge, look over your shoulder bits.

Oh Em Gee! Incognito absolutely rocked!
Siobhan Davis has written another fabulous book! Incognito is her latest standalone romance, and I became completely engrossed from the very first page. The storyline was refreshing and full of twists and turns. The characters were well developed and engaging, as well as the secondary characters, like Tabs. It was also great to see Devin and Ange, from Ms.Davis’s book Inseparable.
I have read a lot of college and rock star romances, and I was happy to see that Incognito was different than the standard rock star plot. Shawn/Levi was a complex character who was hiding from a stalker who was threatening him. He soon realizes that he doesn’t like who he became, and soon starts to find himself while taking classes at a college in Iowa. Dakota is going to school to become an accountant after tragedy struck her family. She is still in mourning and dances every night at the same time to express her feelings. Shawn/Levi and Dakota are not in the best place in their lives to be in a relationship, but their feelings for each other is what helps them get through their difficult times.
A fabulous story!
