Can Shawn help Dakota move forward from her past? Will Shawn be able to write his new album to satisfy his producers? Will Shawn’s stalkers get close to him and ever be caught?
I really enjoyed this story, it wasn’t just a boy meets girl story, there was so much more. It was a rock star trying to stay alive and meets the girl to change his life for the better and he could save her life for the better and the suspense aspect made it even better because I love a good romantic suspense. And this one is great. This is a first for me from Siobhan Davis and I can’t wait to read more from this author.
**I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book**
My first book I read from this author was Inseperable and then I needed more so I started reading her Kennedy Brothers series! Siobhan is becoming one of my favorite authors as well!
I loved Shawn and Dakota’s story. I couldn’t wait to read Incognito and was so excited to see a glimpse of some side characters from Inseperable. Incognito takes place as a college romance with some crazy suspenseful twists and turns that you don’t see coming!
I am voluntarily reviewing a complimentary copy of this book.
I don’t typically read musician love stories, but considering I’ve read everything this author has written I was excited to even read something I normally wouldn’t. I quickly and easily fell in love with the characters, along with their snappy attitude towards each other which was only there to mask the growing attraction. Both characters have issues they’re trying to deal with or overcome in their lives, but when they come together it’s perfect…and I mean perfect as in they complete and heal pieces of the other that they themselves were unaware was needed. Great story and lots of crazy things going down, also I loved how the author Siobhan connected this standalone to a previously written Inseparable, well at least the secondary characters…I totally didn’t even connect the names to them being attached to the other. Extremely clever!
I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read for me. Partially because I didn’t want to put it down when I had the chance to sit and read.
You will fall head over heels in love with Shawn. I can’t even imagine what it’s like being thrown to the wolves at the young age of 15, but he’s overcoming it all. He has a lot of obstacles to overcome.
The minute Dakota walks into Levi’s life he knows that he needs to stay away, but he can’t. There’s a pull to her that he can’t fight. It’s like an addiction. He wants more of her. Can he be the guy she needs?
Dakota is going through the motions of living. She hasn’t been the same since that dreadful night a couple years ago. She isn’t living for herself and by doing that she’s losing pieces of herself. She tries to stay away from Levi because of his hot and cold behavior but he’s hard to stay away from.
This is a great story about true love trumping it all. Love isn’t always easy for everyone. You have to fight for what you want. You also have to learn who is with you for you and not what you can do for them. Love this book Siobhan Davis!! I cannot wait to read your next book!
Looking for a romance between two opposing people who got attracted for each other? The classic story of the average girl who falls in love with a famous one? Suspense, stalkers and threats? Incognito blends all the possible plots and clichés resulting in a great book.
Shawn is a famous singer, a rock star, who has taken full advantage of the motto of sex, drugs and rock and roll. Reaching fame at age 15, he made the wrong decisions that took him straight to a rehab and shook his relationship with his mother. Now the only thing he wants is to leave it all in the past, focus on his music and live a more peaceful life. But his new tranquility is at stake when threats against his life are made and his house is invaded twice (in the second time he is in place, which creates the opening scene of the book, very well written and tense by the way). His security team then decides that while the danger lasts it would be better if Shawn disappears for a period. Out of scene the music star with long blond hair. In his place comes a boy with short hair, dyed dark and contact lenses. Goodbye Los Angeles and the music industry, Hello Iowa and Accounting classes. Shawn the star turns Levi the ordinary boy. During that time away, he will take the time to try to create some material for a new album since he is not happy with the direction his career is taking. Settling into his new penthouse in Iowa, he discovers that every night at the same time, a figure dances on the roof of the neighboring building, and unable to deflect that view, every night he waits for his midnight dancer, his muse, that already made him write a song
Dakota’s life literally imploded overnight. Her sister is gone, her mother is trapped in her own mind, her father is more distant every day and her boyfriend betrayed her with her best friend. If all of this is not enough, she is choked by expectations that were never her dreams, but that are expected of her now. Goodbye Juilliard and the dream of dancing. Her life now boils down to honoring her sister and following in her footsteps. Studying accounting, graduate, work at her father’s office and most importantly, do not engage in distractions, especially boys. This is Dakota’s expected future. This is the legacy imposed by her father. But the burden of this may be too much for her to bear.
One day, walking through university, Dakota bumps into Levi, and their first impression is not the best. She is completely attracted to him. He gets annoyed at the way she looks at him. She knows it can turn out to be a distraction. He does not understand how she can arouse feelings in him. The two dislike each other. And with relationship being the last thing to get in the minds of these two, they will find that this dislike has a different name, and however much they try to flee, fate has united them. But with the lies surrounding Shawn and the traumas of Dakota, will those two have a happy ending?
Shawn / Levi has his reasons for not wanting to involve Dakota in his world, it’s understandable, but it’s also fairly predictable that this situation would get out of control. I liked to see him portrayed in a human way, he is a boy before he was a rock star, and with everything that has happened, his maturation and growth has been noticed. The way he supports Dakota and takes care of her when she needs it was interesting to follow along with the development of this novel. The interaction between muse and artist can melt some hearts. When he finally finds his midnight dancer, all the pieces fit.
Dakota had her share of suffering in this book. I hated her father (I understand that each person reacts in a way to mourning, but he was despicable), I felt sorry for her mother, I suffered and I cried for her sister, I hated her ex- boyfriend and her ex friend, laughs a lot with the new friends and I sighed at her relationship with Shawn / Levi.
The book is filled with tension, after all there is a stalker, we also have the character we love to hate that will try to break apart the couple, we have second chances between friendships and relationships, a cute couple and characters very complex and well written. The journey of Shawn and Dakota has its ups and downs, but it is undeniable that they truly love and know each other, one is the foundation of the other, and no matter how much disagreement they may have, in the end, they were able to find something really important : each other
4 1/2 out of 5 Stars
I loved this book because it was it was so heartwarming and made love feel so real! Dakota has put her life on hold when her family suffered a huge tragedy. Shawn’s life has been threatened to the point he’s going into hiding to get away from the stalker and give him a chance to unwind a little. Both characters end up in accounting school though neither of them really wants to be there.
I think the best part of this book was that their connection was so instant and they both fell so hard before either of them would admit it. This is the first book for me by this author, but I can promise it won’t be my last. The characters were crafted so well that I felt like I knew them. Like I was watching their lives rather than just reading about them. The story flowed seamlessly and I enjoyed every page!
One of my favorite scenes was when Dakota and her friends are bagging on Shawn right to his face without really knowing it’s him. Such a great comic relief moment in a book with some definite heavy themes.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a story with some angst, but that is really just about love at the heart of the novel!
Incognito was a great 5 star read. This was my first read from Siobhan Davis and I loved it, I was pulled right in from the beginning and didn’t want to put it down.
Dakota has a tragedy that she is trying to move forward from but her mom’s illness doesn’t help the situation. Dakota has enrolled in a local university that allows her to come home on the weekends to help her mother. Her father is another story, very frustrating man.
Shawn is a famous singer and his life has been threatened. In order to investigate and find out who is behind the threats Shawn is put undercover at the same university that Dakota is attending to keep him safe.
Shawn isn’t looking for a relationship but when he meets Dakota there is something about her that draws him in. He also finds a muse that helps him write, his “Midnite dancer”. Dakota is also trying to keep her distance but keeps finding herself running into Shawn at unusual times, almost like fate has put him in her path.
Shawn finally gives into his attraction and these two have some steamy moments. Can they get a HEA? Will they find out who is stalking Shawn?
There is so much more to this great read. I had some LOL moments and some teary eyed moments. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next. The secondary characters were great. If your looking for a great romance with suspense and mystery then this is the book for you. 1-click and get started today.

I enjoyed this book a lot! The story of a pop star in hiding who falls for a beautiful dancer pulled me right in and I stayed up all night to finish it. I loved Dakota and Shawn and the supporting characters are great too. I was hooked on this sexy, well-written romance from the start and I can’t wait to read more by this author.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
This story is all about Dakota, a dancer who has suffered a terrible tragedy. And Levi, or is it Shawn, the bad boy rock star. This book contains tragedy, lust, kidnapping, death threats and a great love. This book has it all and the love scenes are hottttt!. I will read anything this author writes. She is fabulous. If you haven’t read her Kenned Boys series, you are missing out on a fabulous series. I loved them all. I highly recommend this book and a very definite five-star read for me.
Since my first Siobhan Davis read, she has been an author I will dive into the moment I get her next release on my Kindle. In other words, I’m a big fan. Incognito screamed out to me more than the average Siobhan Davis read, though, as rock star romances are some of my favourites. In fact, they’re probably my biggest weakness.
Unfortunately, I was moving house when this came through to my Kindle. I had wanted to dive straight into Incognito the first moment I could, yet I had to hold off until I was able to update my Kindle and was done with moving things around. It was a painful wait, especially when I could see other people were reading and enjoying this one, but it was worth the wait.
You see, once I started reading Incognito it quickly became another Siobhan Davis read that I had to complete in a single sitting. Once I started, I could not put it down. The story sucked me in and left me wanting more, leaving me turning pages at a rapid pace as I ignored the world around me.
All in all, Siobhan Davis has given us another winner.
If I’m being completely honest, of her first two books that are complete standalones, I loved Incognito so much more. Sure, Inseparable was an enjoyable read – yet it pales in comparison to Incognito. This may just be personal preference because Incognito is more in line with the storylines I like, but I’m fairly certain a lot of people are going to agree that Incognito is an even more powerful standalone than Inseparable.
Whilst I’m on the topic of Inseparable, before I go deep into this fan girl review, know you get a bit of cross over with this one. Did you want to know what happened to the Inseparable characters a few years down the line, did you want to know what comes next? Well, the characters appear in this one. You do not need to have read Inseparable to understand their role in this story, but it is a nice little insight for those who wanted to see the ‘what came next’.
Now, onto the good stuff.
As I’ve mentioned repeatedly, I’m a big lover of rock star romances. Mix a rock star romance with one of my favourite authors and I had extremely high expectations for this one. Fortunately, it more than delivered. Whether you’re a Siobhan Davis fan or a rock star romance fan, I’m positive this story will grab you tight and refuse to let go.
You see, although I adore rock star romances, I sometimes feel as though we’re not given anything new. With Incognito, we take a step back from the norm in the genre. Sure, we see some of the usual rock star romance tropes, but Siobhan Davis brings her own spin to the story. We have the usual abundance of emotion that you find in a Siobhan Davis read, we have scenes that are more in line with your typical college romance rather than your typical rock star romance, and we have an overall refreshing story.
Things are a little bit on the insta-love side of things, if I’m honest, and it did take me a few chapters to fall completely in love with the romance building between our leads, but once the story was going I was addicted. I feel in love with our characters and the drama that surrounded their lives, I feel in love with all the different emotions that came to light as we learned more about the different situations, and I feel in love with all the different events that played out. There was plenty of everything to keep you hooked – drama, some humour, emotion, action, and plenty of the wonderful romance Siobhan Davis is known for.
In fact, I’m willing to put this down as one of my favourite rock star romances. It really stood out as something different, ensuring it will remain with me for quite some time. Having read so many rock star romances and having some long-term favourites it is hard for any new book in the genre to knock my number one spot down to second place, but Incognito certainly earns a spot in my top ten. Actually, it earns a spot in my top five.
Without a doubt, Siobhan Davis has done it again. I could wax lyrical all day long about how wonderful this story is (or, at the very least, I could try, but I’m dubious about my ability to sound like anything other than a mess of a fangirl), but whatever I say will pale in comparison to the feels you will get throughout Incognito.
As I said, if you’re a fan of Siobhan Davis or rock star romances you need to read Incognito.
Incognito, like all of Siobhan’s books are just plain amazing. Siobhan manages to make you feel for the character and makes you grow to love them. Within the first page of Incognito, I was sucked in to Dakota’s and Shawn’s story.
Dakota I have got to say is one of my favorite NA heroines. She’s so strong. I love how she doesn’t take any BS and really grows up in the novel. There are so many demons she has to fight. I love how she is courageous in growing and really achieving her dreams.
Shawn I have to go say really took a while to grow on me. Shawn was one of those heroes who I really wanted to bang in the head and then hug him at the same time. However, Shawn’s heart of gold really made me fall for him. I can see what Dakota saw in him.
The romance and suspense in this book really added a lot to this book. I really love the forbidden element in this book. Shawn and Dakota are so wrong for each other yet they are so right. Their qualities really make them perfect for each other. They are stronger together. Another thing I love about their love story is the steaminess. I like how there is real emotion to the sex scenes. There was great chemistry in the pages, but it didn’t feel forced. The suspense in this book really threw in some nice unexpected twists. I really like how there are lies and deception. Siobhan does a great job resolving the conflict.
The secondary characters in this book really added a lot. I really loved seeing Devin and Angelina from Inseparable. But, man the best friends and some of the people Dakota and Shawn encounter are truly really cruel. However, the good thing was there wasn’t any OTT drama.
In summary, another amazing book from the diva Siobhan Davis. I really enjoyed this book and I hope she continues to write more new adult contemporary romance.
This is my first read of Siobhan and she knocked my socks off! Where has this author been all my life? Incognito is not just a rock star romance but a suspenseful journey where two seemingly unlikely people find that one person that completes them so thoroughly and effortlessly. That heals their soul and helps them find their wings again. Gah just utterly brilliant!
I always try to pay homage to my favorite aspects of a book. I loved everything about this talented authors work. If I am going to pick one – which seems unfair like picking a favorite kid – I’m going with these amazing characters. What stood out to me first was how relatable, complex, witty and endearing ALL these characters were. Our hero and heroine were magnificent. Shawn has pretty much lost himself to the industry, to the temptations of stardom. Dakota is still raw from losing her sister and having to change up the role she plays to her own family. So unique – absolutely loved them. The supporting cast was spot on – although not all likeable individuals they still had a crucial role in how the story played out. Shows how creative this author is!
We were given the perfect mix of humor, loyalty and the feels which gave this story intensity. Angst so beautifully written I felt it down to my toes. I knew from the ‘sniff’ we were in for a treat with these two. The push and pull that created the perfect amount of uncertainty. The build up of suspense was the absolute perfect touch. The complex story was just so surprising and intelligently written. This is no flimsy novel made up of sexual tension and hormones. This is a brilliantly planned out story that grabs you from page 1 and kept me on the edge of my seat.
As you can tell I am completely amazed and hooked on this author’s work now. It’s not every day you pick up a book by a new author and fall in love – today was my lucky day for sure!
I really enjoyed Dakota and Shawn’s story. The suspense and mystery is amazing. Their love for each other is eternal. And as for Dakota’s dad, for shame!
Another 5 Star Read!
Incognito is one of those books that consumes you and has you reading late into the night. Siobhan Davis never fails to deliver the unputdownable stories her readers have come to expect. Due to the way Siobhan Davis writes, you soon become lost in the story and feel like you’re there with the characters going through what they’re going through. You can’t help but fall in love with Dakota and Shawn who will take a small piece of your heart with them when you get to the end of their story. Even now, over a week later, I’m still thinking about this amazing couple who help each other to heal and find themselves again.
“That hidden inside this shell of a person somewhere lies the real Dakota Gray.” – Dakota
For me, I feel the storyline of Incognito wasn’t reminiscent to any of Siobhan Davis’ previous books. I find each standalone/series to always be unique, but just as addictive. As for Shawn, what better way to go incognito then surround yourself with people who would never expect to run into a famous singer around campus. Daisy may be his biggest fan, but she would never in a million years expect to meet Shawn, so it doesn’t even enter her mind it could possibly be her celebrity crush when he seems familiar. The plot for this story is so simple, but also so creative and believable. It just shows how talented Siobhan Davis is.
“Because, for the last few years, I’ve lost all sight of the real Shawn Lucas.” – Shawn/Levi
We also get to say hello to well loved friends from Inseparable as Angelina and Devin pop up several times. I loved getting to see what they’re up to now, and I’m so glad that Siobhan Davis allows Devin to show that possessive side of his when it comes Angelina. After reading Incognito, I immediately jumped into Inseparable so I could revisit the emotional roller-coaster ride Devin and Angelina take towards becoming the special couple they are now.
“Maybe we were meant to meet at this juncture in our lives. To be there for each other.” – Dakota
Dakota says the following about a song written by Shawn; “That was beautiful, and it conveyed so much emotion. Like it was sad and haunting and then heartwarming and uplifting at the same time. And definitely romantic.”. I feel this also says beautifully the journey this 5 star read takes you on. As with any of Siobhan Davis’ books, I can’t recommend this one enough. And if this is your first book by this very talented author, then I can guarantee you’ll become addicted and want to read every book she’s written!
*I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book and all opinions are my own
After several attempts on his life, Shawn was forced into hiding. Posing as a college student wouldn’t be a big problem in the small town especially when he keeps his head low. But then, there was Dakota. Our girl who dreams to dance in Julliard but because of a tragedy ends up staying at home, studying a course she didn’t want to do and taking care of her parents. She was trying to put her life back after a tragedy struck her family.
Dakota has no time for romance, but the moment she met Shawn – sparks flew. Shawn should avoid girls and be careful not to get close to anyone because of his troubles. But Dakota is different – the harder he tries to avoid her, the more he craves for her. Before he knew it, he was falling hard already.
I like Dakota. I love the way she cared for her family, especially her mom. She’s an easy girl to like. Shawn, on the other hand, is sometimes exasperating. He’d get close to Dakota, then remembers that his life is currently in danger and he needs to be careful, and stays away from her. It was a limbo initially for the both of them, but I was just glad it was over (not too soon though). The friends that surrounds the both of them are simply the best, especially Dakota’s friends. They were well-diversified. As for Shawn, I’m glad he found a friend when he needed it the most.
It’s sweet, sexy and swoony. It has its down moments at times, I got tired of them coming around, then separating, but it was all worth it in the end. I love the mystery that surrounded the novel. It was a surprise in the end. I didn’t see that coming now.
This is the second book I have read by Siobhan and I really enjoyed this book too!
Incognito is a college age romance. While this isn’t my most favorite genre, I really liked this story.
I liked that the characters, even though they were young, had life experiences that made them mature.
This story of Dakota and Shawn/Levi is fast paced. It has the perfect amount of steaminess, angst and romance. I love the bit of mystery and suspense! It kept me guessing till the end and I still got it wrong! Make sure you really read the words and go slowly….you will see hints and bits revealed that will give you clues!
Dakota’s back story is epically tragic. Siobhan gives you her backstory slowly. But when it’s finally revealed it will gut you! Dakota is truly strong and brave!
Levi/Shawn starts as the typical bad boy, arrogant rock star. But boy does he really perform a 180 once he meets and interacts with Dakota! I had a bit of dislike for him when I started reading, but I fell in love with him just like Dakota did at the end!
I really enjoyed seeing past characters being part of this story too, but don’t let that discourage you! Even if you haven’t read Siobhan’s stories, this is a total stand alone!
Another well done story by Siobhan! I cannot wait to see what she comes out with next!!
This has been the best book I’ve read by Siobhan Davis so far! Very well written, very focused on one plot instead of several, great pace and a fantastic love story. The trope of an incognito rockstar hiding out and meeting the love of his life, never revealing who he is, has been upgraded to a very emotional and riveting love story.
Shawn has known fame and fortune since he was fifteen. Suddenly thrown to fame at such a young age made him vulnerable to the crazy and materialistic world in Hollywood. His mother was his manager but at some point she had to resign and leave him to his whoring, drugs and booze. At the start of the story, he is hiding in Iowa because he has a stalker trying to do him serious harm. So far, there have been shots at a red carpet event, a kidnap scare, and several invasions into his Hollywood Hills mansion. He’s hiding in plain view, as a UI accounting student, posing as Levi Quinn, while his security team investigate and flesh out the culprit.
Dakota is living in heartbreak. Her biggest dream was to go to Juilliard and study dance, then dance in the New York stages. When her sister is murdered, her parents are destroyed, and she feels obligated to take her sister’s place, study business and take over their father’s business. She hates her studies but she wants to honor her sister’s memory. She’s taken with Shawn, but she had a bad breakup and is off men for a while.
The book is multi-layered and all the layers meshed together so well. Dakota has an ex-boyfriend who cheated on her with her best girlfriend and they are frequently seen around, the guy trying to get on with Dakota again, and the ex-girlfriend throwing abuse at her. Her friends Elsa, Tabitha, and Daisy, are the supporting cast and the ones who help her deal with all the heartbreak she will suffer in this book. Levi (Shawn) has the heartbreak of being estranged from his mother and wants to make up, but needs to stay away so as not to endanger her with his stalker.
When Levi (Shawn) meets Dakota he’s entranced by her sad blue eyes. He felt the connection because he also has darkness in his life. When he discovers she’s the mysterious girl who dances every midnight on the roof of the building in front of his condo, the bond is sealed and he’s hooked. He had been having trouble composing, but Dakota has awakened his muse and the music is pouring from him.
Shawn’s security team is headed by Devin, from Inseparable. He’s now married to Angelina and they have two kids. It was great to revisit old friends and see how well they’re doing. Devin feels very connected to Shawn, due to their common past vices, and he goes above and beyond the scope of his work to help Shawn out.
The book has the passion of a love story, the tension of a stalker about to attack any time, the suspense as Devin’s team investigate feverishly, myriads of bodyguards, and of course, an annoying woman who won’t take no for an answer, same as Dakota’s ex-boyfriend. As events occur, and the persons close to Shawn start to get affected, the tension increases, and the fear of being found out and left by Dakota takes precedence. The author did a brilliant balancing act of the stalking events, the sexy times and the mushy times between the characters to build up both themes in the book, the passion and the suspense. As with previous books, there were several elements that were over the top, but I see that the writing is getting tighter and the dialogues getting better. This one book was entertaining and fun to read.
Let me just start off by saying it was such a relief to read a story with a musician where the hero isn’t a major playboy or well, super cocky! I have quickly become a fan of Siobhan Davis the more I read her books. And Incognito had me hooked the entire book! Not only do we get the romance but a bit suspense as well.
One of the many things that I loved about Incognito was that the relationship between Shawn and Dakota took time, which made it much more real to me. Their attraction for each other in instant, but what followed felt genuine to me. Shawn and Dakota have their own pains that they’re getting through and well Shawn is hiding a whole lot more. And we all know it’s a matter of time where the truth comes out and you’ll be wondering what the downfall will be like.
Shawn made it so easy to love the guy, he has owned up to his mistakes and wants to make amends, but he also wants his death threats to stop too. And since going into hiding seems to be the best idea, I couldn’t wait to see Shawn take on the full romance role once he sees Dakota for the first time. He’s such a romantic, guys, it’s ridiculous, I couldn’t stop swooning over this him. He’s as smooth as they come and darn right near impossible to be mad at. Obviously, I’m never a fan when someone withholds the truth, but I couldn’t’ find it in myself to be super upset about it either.
Dakota understands tragedy and has been breathing it for quite some time. Her pain was unbelievably heartbreaking and it was just neverending … But I gotta say that a few of the people in her life are absolutely horrible, completely toxic and undeserving of her in their lives! When it came to Shawn, I wasn’t a fan of her quick assumptions and the whole “I was played” card. Not that Shawn was perfect in this area. But I don’t like games and when you tell someone to stay away and expect them to talk to you … yeah, that makes ZERO sense. Figure it out, girlfriend.
Incognito was a completely well-rounded story. I love a good rockstar story and this one definitely stands out there on their own! I really enjoyed the suspense of this story and some of the other topics that were discussed that everyone could relate to. Once the ending came around, things got angsty and dramatic real quick. it was nearly overwhelming. But it didn’t stop me from moving forward and finishing the read. Definitely, recommend this different kind of rockstar romance, I think fans would enjoy it!
**I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader’s copy.**
This is not my first Siobhan Davis book, and I definitely hope it’s not my last.
This book follows the story of Dakota, a university student with a sad back story/family situation and Shawn, a pop-star in hiding as a university student with his own troubled past and a stalker threatening his life. This story follows Dakota and Shawn’s love story through mutual attraction and avoidance, undeniable affection, and just the right amount of drama.
This book contains a few of my favorite things: drama, sexual tension, and a strong attraction. A super attractive bad-boy type hero is always a plus for me, too. Do yourself a favor, and read this book!

I really loved this book. I really felt for these characters. I was so hooked , I hated to put this book down. Dakota and Levi/Shawn had great chemistry. I also loved the secondary characters, Dakota’s friends and Devin and Ange. I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.
