A new, sexy standalone novel from #1 New York Times Bestseller, Vi Keeland.
Terminated for inappropriate behavior.
I couldn’t believe the letter in my hands.
Nine years. Nine damn years I’d worked my butt off for one of the largest companies in America, and I was fired with a form letter when I returned home from a week in Aruba.
All because of a video taken when I was on vacation with my … because of a video taken when I was on vacation with my friends—a private video made on my private time. Or so I thought…
Pissed off, I cracked open a bottle of wine and wrote my own letter to the gazillionaire CEO telling him what I thought of his company and its practices.
I didn’t think he’d actually respond.
I certainly never thought I’d suddenly become pen pals with the rich jerk.
Eventually, he realized I’d been wronged and made sure I got my job back.
Only…it wasn’t the only thing Grant Lexington wanted to do for me.
But there was no way I was getting involved with my boss’s boss’s boss. Even if he was ridiculously gorgeous, confident, and charming.
It would be completely wrong, inappropriate even.
Sort of like the video that got me into trouble to begin with.
Two wrongs don’t make a right.
But sometimes it’s twice as fun.

Love when a new Vi book pops up on my kindle. I have been waiting to read Inappropriate ever since I first read the blurb. Ireland comes back from a bachelorette party with an termination letter from her news anchor job due to lewd behavior. During a drunken night, she writes a tell off letter to Grant, CEO of Lexington Industries whom own Broadcast Media where she works. Grant and Ireland start a funny correspondence and eventually Grant gives her the job back. They start a relationship and have the best banter. Ireland is a smartass, but Grant seems to like that and find refreshing. Due to deep seeded issues and past hurts with Grant he normally only sleeps with women a few times then moves on, but something changes within him when it comes to Ireland. This book however, would not be what it is without the supporting characters. Mia and Pops! Mia was a hoot and the relationship between Grant and his Pops is enduring!! This was a 5 Balls read for me!
Vi Keeland always has the best “meet cutes” and this one was no different. The beginning of this story had me literally laughing out loud.
Grant and Ireland were both very interesting characters both having had difficult pasts they held back and fought getting involved. But their chemistry was so strong that it was hard to fight.
From start to finish thru all the surprising twists and turns it was packed full of emotions with the sweetest romance with a side of banter!! The author gave us flashbacks of mostly Grant’s story. The emotions I felt reading Grant and Ireland’s story was sometimes more than I could take.
Secondary characters just deepened the story. Loved Grandpa, Grams, and Ireland’s bestie. A story of forgiveness and moving on. An amazing epilogue rounded out this incredible read!!
I haven’t read a Vi Keeland book that I didn’t absolutely love!!
I love that she doesn’t do the whole Froo-Froo lovey-dovey stuff.
You get REAL! Raw. Emotional. Sexy. Witty. Funny. You get Heart & Soul with her books! You get “damaged” characters, you get heartfelt memories, emotional outbursts, and a love like no other. You get a love that’s strong and can withstand all the heartache of the past.
I love Grant! Loved getting his back story a piece at a time. It’s emotional so it’s better in small doses. Lol!!
I love the present too because Grant is one major dirty talker! Love it! Right from the beginning he had Ireland blushing and swooning, and he will do the same to you!
I love Ireland. She’s strong and independent and a great female lead.
All this makes this the perfect office romance read. Amazing book, great start to 2020!!
Inappropriate is a great read. I was hooked right from the beginning. Ireland is bold and funny. She blurted out and did some funny things. She also has a great business personality too. She is a prefect mix of fun and business. Grant is her boss and he gets a email from Ireland when she’s drunk and pissed off about being fired. He is intrigued by her. He’s her boss so he has to tread lightly with her. I liked Grant. He went above and beyond to get Ireland’s attention. These two had great banter and chemistry. They both have a pass that were not that great. Grant gets daily letter that he doesn’t read and I was curious on who they were from. He never read the letter so that made me wonder even more. When that all came out I was surprised and kind of just wanted to give Grant a hug. This one is definitely one you should one click.
4 1/2 Stars!
4.25 stars– INAPPROPRIATE by Vi Keeland is a stand alone, contemporary, adult, erotic romance storyline focusing on newscaster Ireland Saint James, and businessman Grant Lexington.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be a trigger for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Grant and Ireland) using present day and memories from the past (Grant) INAPPROPRIATE follows the office romance between newscaster Ireland Saint James, and businessman Grant Lexington. Ireland Saint James returned from a destination bachelorette party to discover she had been terminated for violating an immorality clause on her employment contract. Drunk and heart broken, our heroine will email her boss telling him exactly what she thinks of his company policy. Enter businessman Grant Lexington, and the man with whom Ireland will fall in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Grant and Ireland, and the potential fall-out as a surprise announcement sends Grant reeling, and away from the woman with whom he had fallen in love.
Grant Lexington loved Ireland Saint James’ spunk; her tenacity to say what she wanted to say without worrying about what others were going to think. Giving Ireland a second chance meant pulling said ‘spunky’ woman back into his life, a life of which he never expected to find happiness or love. Ireland Saint James is good at her job, but an overzealous employee, and technically her boss, reported her immorality resulting in dismissal and more but back at work, Ireland would discover that her reluctance to ‘date’ Grant Lexington is matched by his determination to get to know our heroine better.
The relationship between Grant and Ireland is a forbidden boss/employee but technically there is no policy addressing their concerns. Grant and Ireland’s early years are heartbreaking and sad but Grant’s past has shaped his present, and it is his future of which Ireland struggles the most. Hoping to take things slow, our couple will find themselves one another’s plus one at numerous events, events that will bring our couple closer together. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
The colorful secondary and supporting characters include Ireland’s roommate and best friend Mia, and her fiancé Christian; Ireland’s immediate supervisor Harold Bickman; Grant’s sister Kate Benton, and their grandparents; as well as his PA Millie; and Lily, a young girl from Grant’s past.
INAPPROPRIATE is a story of family, friendship, heartbreak and love. A story of loss, mental health, acceptance and moving on. The premise is engaging, emotional and powerful; the characters are energetic, captivating, broken and lost; the romance is fun, flirty, sexy and hot.
Vi did it again, another beautiful story! Ireland Saint James is such a spitfire and I love it! I love how she is unapologetic who she is. She goes for what she wants. Grant is dedicated to his work. He has a plan and that is to focus on life and not fall in love! This story drew me in from the very beginning and refuse to let me go! There was so many emotions that I felt throughout this book. Grant and Ireland has such fantastic banter, the chemistry between them is undeniable. In true Vi fashion there is twist that you do not see coming but worked so well for the story. The story did a great job of giving Grant’s back story and made you be more invested in their relationship. This was a beautiful romance and the story unfolded in the perfect manner with perfect pacing. This an absolute must read! Well done Vi!

You know how the saying goes regarding book covers, and Inappropriate’s lush one couldn’t have been more appropriate. We also loved the fitting title for Keeland’s latest contemporary romance standalone and as per usual, her deft storytelling never fails to excite. So without much ado, we were hooked! How could we not be when the cool, calm and collected heroine was on the brink of a meltdown. And curiously when she has no idea whom she was letting off steam with.
Okay, onto the story itself…we can’t mention too much, but we do love it when the opening of a new paragraph grabs us like this one did! We don’t think we came up for air after reading the first chapter and by the end, we were reaching for the tissues to dry our eyes! We knew straight away we were in for an entertaining read!
“Did anyone ever tell you that you have an arrogant smile?”
Observing how hard-working Ireland Saint James tries to put her supposedly wrongdoing right had us in fits of laughter, but this is serious business. Not only is she about to defend herself but also captivates the boss of bosses with her sass! Yeap, this gal isn’t one for being intimidated by the likes of anyone, much less when her predicament for future employment is on the line. Regardless of her complicated past, she’s strong, smart and courageous and more importantly to our minds of thinking, has let bygones be bygones.
“Lunch? Screw you. Better yet. Screw your whole damn company.”
Drop-dead gorgeous CEO of Lexington Industries, Grant Lexington. He has every reason to be wary of relationships, his backstory touching our hearts. We couldn’t possibly explain without letting on and although we weren’t surprised that he hadn’t been able to move on, what we loved more than anything was his interest in the less fortunate. However, his stance regarding certain committees is a tad contradictory since he’s been bending over backwards for other good causes. Is there a method in his madness? Wait and see ‘cause like us, his sister had her doubts.
“A committee on women’s initiatives? Seriously?”
Instantly attracted to each other, Ireland intrigues the pants off him, no pun intended…and she in turn begins to warm to this guy who’s built a wall around his heart. Hmm, she’s got a couple of tactics up her sleeve which might just work wonders. Guess what they are lol! We loved this woman to bits. She’s just what we look for in our female characters and here the author delivered hands down.
‘Ireland Saint James. You seem like a handful. A woman I should steer clear of, that was for sure. Yet I felt compelled to learn more.’
It’s not disputable. Keeland is the banter queen! She has such a great knack of writing stories filled with lots of heart-filled storylines equally matched with eye-watering laughter. Grant and Ireland are people you would love to have as your friends. She writes such strong, independent and feisty gals which we love. The men…well what can we say, she knows just how to please us!
“You’re going to smoke my cigar”
“Does that bother you?”
“Of course not. You’re welcome to wrap your lips around my Cohiba.”
Vi has certainly gone to town in Inappropriate with snappy comebacks, heartfelt remarks and laugh-out-loud moments. Delving into some pretty complex mental health issues which for anyone who’s suffered them will instantly relate to, she’s told the story with the utmost sensitivity.
“I want more with you. But I’m not sure what I’m capable of, Ireland. I won’t promise you something I’m uncertain I can deliver…”
Great character and plot development, we loved Grant’s family, especially Kate and his grandfather. We loved the boat building references, seeing as one of us has been in this world and how could we not mention the steaminess! Goodness, a hanky at hand to make your e-reader screen visible wouldn’t be a bad idea, either. Vi’s story is a beautifully written breath-catching read which flows impeccably; however, we did find the ending a tad predictable. That being said, our reading enjoyment was never spoiled and we can’t recommend it enough. Bravo!
On a side note, we could have quoted this book until the cows came home!
Inappropriate was a great read. I really liked it. It gives you all the feels! I loved Grant and Ireland. I loved their banter. The chemistry was off the charts! They were just perfect together. Definitely a must read!
Unputdownable read full of love, hope and forgiveness. Lana~White Hot Reads
Grant and Ireland have the best banter. This book is not what I expected. The beginning starts off with a bang and keeps you hooked throughout the whole book. Grant really likes Ireland and not sure how to handle his feelings for her. He struggles in the fact that he thinks he doesn’t deserve happiness when the past 7 years haven’t been happy. Inappropriate is a must read!!! Another really good book by Vi Keeland.
I absolutely LOVED this book!!! I feel like I have said this before, but this is hands down my new favorite book by Vi Keeland! I don’t know how she does it, she is such an amazing storyteller. Grant is well, he is spectacular! Marred by some extremely painful events in his past, he certainly wasn’t looking for what he finds in Ireland. I honestly adore everything about him! And Ireland, she is funny, sassy, sweet and everything Grant needs even if he didn’t see her coming. All it took was a bit of inappropriate behavior and their paths were set to clash and now neither of them will ever be the same.
Every time I sit down to read a new Vi Keeland book, my thoughts are always “can she top the last one?” The answer is yes, yes she can! I absolutely loved this story. It has a little bit of everything, love, lust, romance, heartache and suspense that builds up with each chapter until it’s finally revealed and wow is it unexpected! I had moments of laughing out loud to holding my heart and smiling so wide I must’ve looked like a crazy person, or someone who was just thoroughly enjoying the story.
I have a bookcase that I only purchase paperbacks of books I have absolutely loved, mostly I just have them on my kindle but this book, definitely one for the bookcase!
What an amazing read. It’s definitely an emotional storyline that’s sexy and funny. You can’t help but fall for Grant, he’s confident and arrogant but in the best of ways. I adored Ireland, full of spirit and a perfect match for Grant. Their chemistry is scorching hot and their banter is off the hook funny and flirty. You’ll be hooked from the first chapter until the end. My new favorite book by Vi Keeland.
Inappropriate by Vi Keeland is so packed with feels that you’ll seriously want to savor every moment and every word.
Keeland has a distant ability to deliver a story to her readers that is romantic and suspenseful and full of life lessons all at once.
Ireland and Grant are definitely my top faves of all her characters, and I know they will be yours too.
These two have chemistry and banter, but most of all depth and humanity.
“No rain. No flowers.”
May we all find our flowers after the rain.
5 Stars
This is a snappy and fun workplace romance with a twist, but it is also an emotional story of forgiveness and healing.
On-air reporter Ireland St. James is shocked to find out that she is being terminated due to a private short social media video while on vacation. Her response might be bit risky but eventually leads to some positive things. But now she is on the radar of her boss’s boss, Grant Lexington.
He is the CEO of finance of the company that owns her news station. And Ireland’s emails and circumstances intrigued him. Next thing he knows he is trying to date her, even though he has sworn off relationships. He knows it could be seen as inappropriate, but there is just something about the smart, savvy, and beautiful Ireland that he cannot seem to forget. And he is charismatic, confident, and persistent.
But there is more to both of their stories and history that has affected them. They both have some trust and other issues to deal with.
There is an underlying mystery as we get some flashbacks to his past, while also getting present-day points of view of both Ireland and Grant. I loved their witty rapport, and they definitely had sexual tension and chemistry. They pushed and challenged each other. They both were scared of their attraction and attachment. I liked that they took the time to actually learn about and try to know the other person. But Grant’s secrets were deep and painful and have kept him living in limbo for years.
Will Ireland be the one to finally break through Grant’s defenses in order to try a real relationship? Or will she end up heartbroken?
This book had so many layers. The characters had such depth in their backstories and their personalities. I really loved these two together. The side characters were also interesting and were important both for the plot and some comic relief. I was full of tension and my heart hurt as I could tell his story that was gradually revealed was going to be powerful…and it was.
This is so much more than a sexy rom-com or a workplace romance. While there is fun, flirting, and steamy moments, there are also sad, heartfelt, difficult, and emotional times. But ultimately it is about forgiveness, trust, moving on, and living life to the fullest. I was pulled in from the beginning and did not want to put it down until I was done. And I am left feeling like I took an emotional journey with these characters, but also had a lot of fun along the way as well.
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
This is one of those books where someone is hiding their secrets. In this particular case, the secret isn’t something that would necessarily destroy the relationship if discovered, but it does have a big impact on why the character feels the way they do. It’s a secret that slowly works it way through the book for the reader as we get glimpses of the backstory throughout. The book alternates between POVs, and also has flashbacks in time. The characters are wonderful. She is a hard worker who, on a drunken night sent a pretty bad e-mail to her bosses bosses boss. (CEO of the company, whom she has never met in person.) He is said boss and instead of getting angry about the letter, he found it amusing. Thus is desire to delve deeper into this mysterious woman. He also happens to be a sexy, powerful wealthy man. A man with secrets. These two have a fun and flirty banter. They simply mesh well together, but wouldn’t be inappropriate if the two hooked up? While this is a fun book to read and for the most part pretty light-hearted, there is a heavier underlining throughout. We know something happened, but when you find out exactly was that is, you will be heartbroken. This book is well written. Hard to put down. Easy to read. There is some sexual content. Due to this and the more sensitive subject matters, I would recommend this for mature readers.
I freaking ADORED this story! OMG…Ireland and Grant’s slow burn just about scorched my kindle. Loved Ireland’s feisty attitude and self assurance. She could hold her own and then some. Grant was confident, take charge but also he was broken and gun shy relationship-wise. Their story was addictive because I fell in love with both characters – genuine good people who deserved good things in their lives. Of course, we have a few twists thrown in there but I loved the emotions, sweetness and healing. Beautiful story.
AND
Let’s all take a second and bow down to Queen Vi! I mean…damn! This book made me laugh, it made me cry, it also pissed me off a little and every other feel in the book as well. So good! Beautifully written. Simply put, she nailed it. As she always does! There’s a reason she’s the queen, and I always read her books. They’re always good. I don’t care what trope, they are always amazing. Such a great read. I mean…I cried. I never cry in books. So to get that kind of reaction from me…well, it’s worth all five stars easily!
Again!
I have no words.
You would think by now that i would accept the fact that I’m going to absolutely love everything Vi Keeland writes and then the next book comes out and i seem to be surprised of how much i loved it or how speechless i am when it comes to saying what i feel for the book.
Grant and Ireland was amazing together, from the time i saw the blurb to the very on of the book i loved everything about them.
I loved Ireland, she was funny, smart and a delight to read, i loved her in the beginning for what she says to Grant and then i love how understanding and loyal she is in the end.
Grant he caused me so have so many emotions for him, nothing bad but more my heart was pounding from what he went through. I loved him so much and with Ireland even more he became something else.
Without rain nothing grows, learn to embrace the storms of your life.
Inappropriate is about a woman who is terminated from her job, for an unsuitable video that went viral, and she emails the CEO and tells him exactly what she thinks of his policies. Well, that’s the short version and it already had me wanting more. I think its funny when alcohol plays a part in the thoughts when sending these emails and lucky for Ireland, her boss’s boss’s boss thought it was slightly funny too. There is a little back and forth with the telecommunications in the beginning but mostly this story is about the relationship between these two and how they navigate through the issues they both bring to the party.
Grant Lexington is not your typical CEO. He’s not only comfortable in the boardroom, he also likes to be on committees as well as being handy with the tools. You could say he was juggling a few balls! Most of us have baggage when starting a new relationship, but Grant’s truly was full and sad. What he sees in Ireland though is a chance, a change of something new and exciting and also a little scary. Probably because his feelings for her are instant. Ireland is a little more reserved in her actions towards the ‘playboy’ but as they spend more and more time together, she sees only the best in him.
I adored Grant, I genuinely did. He was smart and attentive and knew exactly what he wanted. What I loved the most was that he was human, and he had deep emotions that effected how these two could come together. And when he stuffs up, he makes up even better. Ireland was the perfect choice to help Grant handle being in a relationship again. She had patience and understanding that some women wouldn’t. She was his equal on all parts that mattered. If you are looking for a romance with a decent amount of wit to angst, and a satisfying epilogue then look no further, you have found your next book to read right here.
A slow burn office romance with a tortured hero and a sassy heroine that are perfectly matched. He was barely living, so haunted by ghosts of his past. She was full of life and wanted it all. Together they will become whole.
When Ireland Saint James loses her dream job over something posted on her private social media account, she’s not going to hold back letting her boss know exactly how she feels. Liquid courage lent a helping hand. Once she wakes up from her alcohol induced bravery, she quickly modifies her drunken e-mail with something a bit more professional. Luckily her boss is willing to overlook her candor.
Grant is immediately intrigued by Ireland and her sass. She quickly becomes the woman he cannot forget. He never mixes business with pleasure, but he willing to break all his own rules just for her. Besides, he is the CEO…he can do whatever he wants, right?
Ireland is reluctant, but Grant is persistent. He wants her and he’s willing to take it slow as long as she’s willing to agree to a date. They both have heavy baggage. You’ll be delving into their tragic pasts and it is heartbreaking.
Their relationship slowly develops through respect and mutually explosive attraction. Ireland wants a happily ever after, complete with a dog and a family. Grant isn’t sure if he is even capable of an actual relationship. This is a journey because life is messy.
This story is well-written and told with flashbacks which provide us with insightful backstory. It is emotional and off-the-charts sexy. The author gives us wonderful characters that are strong, yet flawed. You’ll love them anyway. I was swept away by the way that Grant pursued Ireland. His head said one thing, but he lead with his heart. Grant will have to do battle within himself to get the forever he deserves.
A story of forgiveness and giving yourself a second chance to find love and happiness. Their relationship was fun and filled with humor. He is possessive and has no problem telling Ireland just how much he wants her. His dirty talking is on point. Ireland does not hold back with speaking her mind. It makes for some interesting conversations.
A story that will shock you but leave you with a full heart by the last page.

Vi Keeland has done it again!!! She always seems to rock my world with each new release she writes.
If you are a fan of Vi’s books you are going to LOVE Inappropriate. It is one of my favorites to date. It has everything you have come to expect from her books. It is funny, steamy and packs a punch in the emotions column.
This is a fast paced story, but it lacks for nothing. I was completed entertained all the way through. From the first page to the very last. I even kept trying to turn the page at the end, just because I wanted more of their story.
Inappropriate is a standalone novel and no other book needs to be read to enjoy this book. It is told in Dual POV. This is an office romance story, but it was so much more than that. This was a story of healing, forgiveness and moving on. I thought the flow and pace of the book was spot on. I always love Vi’s writing style She knows how to get to the heart of the story without rushing it or slowing it down too much.
In this story we follow Ireland and Grant’s story. Ireland is a broadcast journalist who has just come back from vacation to a form letter saying she was terminated from her job. Ireland was a sassy and independent heroine, who wasn’t going to take this lying down. Grant is the CEO of Lexington Industries, his families company. He is also one who says aways from anything like commitment. Many call him a grouch. So when one day he finds an email from an Ireland Saint James pretty much telling him off, he can’t help but write back. From here starts a fun and sexy story between two people who have more in common than they know. I loved Ireland and Grant’s characters. Their banter was funny and their chemistry was off the charts. I loved how Ireland never let him steam roll her. I also loved watching the growth in Grant’s character. This is definitely one of my favorite couples of Ms. Keeland’s.
I really enjoyed all the side characters we got to meet as well. I felt they were just as important to this story as Ireland and Grant. Each lending a hand when needed and also some comic relief when the emotions were running high.
I would 100% recommend this book to all romance readers. If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading a Vi Keeland book, then I just say….WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??? Inappropriate is the perfect starting place. Once you pick up one of her books, you will want to read ALL her books!!
