A fresh and sexy new series from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Skye JordanI’ve got one hell of a life–the business of my dreams, a close-knit family, and the title of elusive but most-eligible bachelor in town. The only thing I’m missing now is my heart. I gave it away as a teenager and never got it back.I didn’t think I’d see that girl again. She was my best friend, my first … girl again. She was my best friend, my first love, the person I couldn’t wait to see arrive in June and couldn’t stand to see leave in September. But the summer she turned eighteen, she flew off to Paris and never looked back.
When she resurfaces twelve years later, I don’t want to want her. I don’t even want to care. I really just want my fucking heart back so I can move on with a normal life–marriage, kids. Hell, I’d settle for a cease-fire in my romantic life.
It turns out we’ve got a shared interest in her grandfather’s land. This could be the perfect opportunity to settle the past. Or it could be the biggest mistake of my life, the one that destroys my heart for good.
Books in the Wildfire Lake series can be read as stand alone novels.

Laiyla has returned to the town where she used to spend her summers. She quickly discovers not everyone is happy she’s back, especially her ex Levi, who’s heart has hardened to steel when it comes to her. She has a lot of work and relationships to rebuild if she wants to earn their trust again.
Levi and Laiyla have a past and she unintentionally hurt him years ago which he has never forgot about. After seeing him again she knows he’s the key to the happiness she’s been looking for. Both will need to let go of the past before they can look forward to the future. This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I’m excited for the rest of the series!
What a great start to a new series by one of my favourite authors. From the first chapter, I was hooked. At first, I wasn’t sure what to make of Laiyla, but she grew on me the more I learned about her. Loved this story about Laiyla and Levi. And I loved Chloe and KT, Laiyla’s best friends. I am really looking forward to reading more from this series.
Wildfire Lake series is off to a fantastic start. This second chance romance grabbed me at page one and didn’t let go. A story of young love, strong friendships and second chances set in a small town with wonderful characters makes a wonderful story. Laiyla and Levi are a perfect couple and I loved their story. Can’t wait for the next book! I highly recommend all of Skye Jordan’s books!
It has been a while since I have read a book by Skye Jordan but I remembered loving her science fiction/paranormal books written under the name of Joan Swan so this was a pleasant surprise to see on NetGalley. In Too Deep is the first of what looks to be trilogy. I will say that she has only gotten better over the years as a writer when she already wrote a compelling read years ago. This story has one of the most intriguing prologues I have read. I couldn’t figure out from the first few pages where this story was going when it did not match up with the description. However, seamlessly it all fell into place wonderfully. It is described as fresh and sexy and it certainly is that.
The back story of Levi and Laiyla is given without anything important missing or being redundant. Then their story moves right on steamrolling into a fast paced but not instant love story. They have a history which has always gotten into the way of their present lives even a part. The friends and family are incredible with me unsure who I want to get their story next. Only I know that I want it to be soon.
The only drawback of the story is the overuse of a certain four letter word. Really these are college educated people they should have more words int hoer vocabulary to describe how they are feeling then that one word. It probably won’t offend many but as an educator I wish that they could have expanded their word usage.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Skye has done it again. This is book one in a new series and I’m so excited for it. The prologue introduces us to three strangers that survive a natural disaster and cements their bond as friends. Then we get the first story and it’s so good. The chemistry is off the charts and the storyline is captivating. I couldn’t put it down. Skye has a way with her words that grabs hold of you and keeps you glued to the book until the very end. I’m anxiously awaiting the next stories in this series. All the characters seem so real and I really enjoy that in a story. Skye definitely has another winning series!
Laiyla and Levi were sweethearts, but when she turned 18, she went to Paris breaking Levi’s heart. Now 12 years later she is back and Levi realizes his feelings for her have not changed.
I love reading second chance romance, and this one of the best. There is a strong chemistry between Laiyla and Levi, but despite that things are not easy and there is a lot of push and pull going on between them, keeping you hooked.
We also meet Laiyla’s two best friends in this book, and though they are absolutely different from each other, I loved the bond between them. Can’t wait to read their stories.
What a great start to a new series!! This book grabbed my attention from the very beginning and was hard to put down! I loved that there was no long drawn out unnecessary drama either. Skye also did a great job setting up a new series while not letting it distract from Levi and Laiyla’s story. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series! I would absolutely recommend this book!
Received an arc for a honest review.
I love a second chance romance. Laiyla and Levi are given that chance in this heartfelt story that will make you laugh cry and cheer for the underdog to win. Laiyla is a pleaser even when she it makes her unhappy. She finally breaks out of that pattern, with a little help from her friends, or the biggest risk of all, to open her heart. I loved this story and so will you, welcome to Wildfire Lake!
I loved this story. Skye Jordan wrote a heartwarming second chance romance that had it all! Great characters, great friendships and lots of swoon! What more could you ask for.
This is the first book in the Wildfire Lake series. A story about friendship and a second chance at romance. It is well written and intriguing, Warren sets the perfect tone for the friendship that develops between Laiyla, KT, and Chloe. Through her words you can see the bond that these three very different women form. You can feel their camaraderie, love, and respect for each other…we could all do with girl friends like these. For their 30 birthdays, they decide to meet up in Wildfire Lake. Laiyla used to spend her summers there with her grandfather, it is where she met her first love Levi. She hasn’t been back since she was 18. In the 12 years since they were together, they have successful careers but have never really been successful at love. The minute they meet again, the chemistry between them is tangible and has certainly not lessened with time. However, despite their chemistry not all is smooth sailing…can they get over the feelings of guilt and distrust that linger? The push and pull of their relationship is palpable. In addition, there are a variety of personalities in this book, some you will love and others you will love to hate. This book is a great introduction to the series, it will keep you engaged from start to finish. I know I can’t wait to see if KT and Chloe get their stories. Highly recommended. Advanced copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Another easy and enjoyable read by Skye Jordan. This book follows Laiyla and Levi. The 2 were childhood sweethearts for years when Laiyla would spend her summers with her grandfather at Wildfire Lake until at the end of one summer when Laiyla broke up with Levi, went to Paris and never contacted him again. Events have Laiyla returning to Wildfire, the 2 are both single but the hurt still runs deep with Levi and as old feelings return can he trust her again with his heart and will the people of the town ever forgive her .
I really love first love, second chance romance. This one is really good.
The story starts with the meeting of three women then jumps forward a few years.
Laiyla has to go back to one of her favourite places from her childhood and deal with some challenging things. Doesn’t take her long to come face to face with her first love and the story unfolds from there.
Both Laiyla and Levi haven’t ever got over each other and their tale is lots of fun to read. Their chemistry hasn’t abated and they instantly feel that connection. Their a fun couple with heaps of passion. The story unfolds nicely and the secondary characters add a lot to the mix.
It’s a very satisfying story and I think KT and Chloe’s stories will be just as good.
This is your typical second chance love story with a ricking origin!! I loved the beginning with Laiyla and her friends!!!
An emotional journey that I loved! This second chance romance gives you all the feels. The love between Levi and Laiyla is magical. Throw in the humor and camaraderie of the gals and it’s a perfect book!

This new series from Skye Jordan is off to a great start. In the prologue we learn how Lailya, KT, and Chloe forge a long lasting friendship. Now, seven years later on the cusp of their thirtieth birthday, they are finally able to reunite and spend a week together celebrating. Laiyla chose to have the get together at Wildfire Lake where she spent summers with her grandpa while growing up, and where she fell in love with Levi Asher at the age of seventeen. Leaving him and never looking back was the hardest thing she ever did, now that she’s back and hires him to take on the project to restore her grandfather’s marina, those old feelings resurface with a vengeance.
I absolutely adored Levi. He’s everything I love in a hero. There were times when I wanted to shake Laiyla and tell her to get her out of her ass, but in the end, she managed that on her own lol. Reuniting after twelve long years, the sparks still definitely flew with these two. I could feel their chemistry leaping off the pages. Skye Jordan knows how to bring characters to life and how to weave a story seamlessly. This is second chance romance at its best, and I can’t wait for KT and Chloe’s books.

(Dual POVs)
The book starts off with the back story as to how three girls meet and become close, in the midst of a cyclone. Fast forward seven years, the girls are meeting for a reunion and Laiyla chooses the location of her late grandfather’s cabin. Laiyla hasn’t been back to her grandfather’s town in 12 years. It doesn’t take long for Laiyla to run into Levi, her first love, in the small town.
This book started off slow for me. It took a minute for me to get into it, but it ended up being a quick and easy read. That boat scene was off the charts Some aspects of this book reminded me of the Notebook. It was a summer love between Laiyla and Levi, who were both teenagers at the time. Laiyla is from a wealthy family, and her parents hold very high standards. I enjoyed how this story progressed and I’m interested to find out about KT and Chloe’s stories!
Favorite quotes:
”What was your bet?”
“That you’d never come back. You just cost me twenty bucks.”
I want her. All of her. All the good, all the bad, all the maddening, all the perfection. -Levi
”I hate to interrupt, but if I’m the topic of conversation, I feel the need to make sure the facts are correct. It was her first three orgasms, at least that night. I lost count for the rest of the summer.” -Levi
”You wait,” I demand. “You fucking wait for me, Laiyla.” -Levi
This is Skye Jordan at her best. She writes so you feel deep emotions and care about her characters. This story is a second chance, my favorite. It’s also a story of grabbing ahold of your own destiny and breaking free to do what you really want. I found it a well written story of friendship, coming home and finding joy. Please note this is written in alternating first person.
Laiyla Saxon is a highly intelligent, capable and talented woman who is overshadowed by her success driven parents. She’s their only daughter and they have a highly successful worldwide hotel chain she’s part of. In her past she spent summers with her Grandfather on Wildfire Lake running free at the rustic family resort. Here she had friends and learned of love from Levi Asher who lived in town. Her parents sent her off to Paris to go to college after high school and never got back to visit because her parents kept her away learning and climbing the ropes of the family business. During a vacation 6 years ago she visited a self-actualizing retreat on a South Pacific Island trying to once again figure out how to break free of her parents. While there she met Chloe Hart and KT and they ended up bonding surviving a hurricane at the resort. Now they’re having a shared 30th birthday reunion at her Grandpa’s Wildfire Lake Resort. Grandpa died and left the place to her but she hasn’t been back because it hurt too much. Arriving she finds her parents have let to slide to ruin and the town hates her. She meets her first love Levi when the dock she’s standing on collapses under her.
Levi has had a hole in his heart since Laiyla left town and never returned. He’s tried to move on and now is a successful construction engineer and co-owner of a development on the lake with his life long best friend Mitch Fielding. When Laiyla returns he finds himself drawn to her and hopes to get closure so he can move on.
I found I really liked these characters and their journey to healing and working together to restore the resort for the town, choosing the family atmosphere over high end development that her parents want. There is so much heart in this story. I also found that although I am not a fan of reading first person, this story is written alternating between Laiyla and Levi and I found I really liked knowing what was in each of their hearts.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
And just like that I’m ready to pack my bags and move to Wildfire Lake! And I don’t think I’ll be the only one. In Too Deep is another terrific contemporary romance from Skye Jordan. An entertaining second chance romance between Laiyla and Levi, friends who spent the summers together when they were teens, until Laiyla left one year and never returned, until now.
I really enjoyed the way Ms. Jordan set this story, and the trilogy, up, with an edge of your seat meeting between Laiyla, KT, and Chloe, 3 young women who go on to become best friends. Reuniting for their 30th birthdays sets the stage for Laiyla and Levi’s reunion after more than a decade. While there was a bit of drama surrounding Laiyla’s return to the small town where she spent her summers, and a little bit with Levi as well, I liked that this was a pretty easy, angst-free read. The setting and the story make it a perfect stress-free summer read, which I think all of us can use!
It was nice to read a book that didn’t drag out any misunderstandings or differences between the couple. Although there were a few things Levi and Laiyla had to work through, they never became so bad they couldn’t be over come. And I loved that Laiyla was the one to do the “grand gesture”! It’s usually the hero who has to apologize or do something to convince the heroine he’s worth another chance. So this was a nice change of pace! Theirs was a second chance years in the making, and I’m so glad they found their way back to each other.
I’m very much looking forward to Chloe and KT’s stories!
In Too Deep was the perfect beginning to the Wildfire Lake series. I loved Laiyla and Levi’s second chance love story. My favorite part was the pub scene at the end of the book. I also like that this series centers around the friendship between Laiyla, KT, and Chloe. I can’t wait to read their stories!
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary Advance Reader Copy.
Jordan is back with a vengeance. The Wildfire Lake series can tempt hearts as easily as it can break them. Laiyla, KT and Chloe start their friendship with a bang and drag our emotions along for the ride. First up is Laiyla’s story. In Too Deep is a tale of friendship, a journey of second chances and a look at an enduring love. For Levi and Laiyla, the one that got away could be the start of a new beginning. Despite the bumps and bruises that Ms. Jordan delivers to the heart, she never misses the chance to make hearts smile. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
