A fresh and sexy new series from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Skye JordanI’ve got one hell of a life–the business of my dreams, a close-knit family, and the title of elusive but most-eligible bachelor in town. The only thing I’m missing now is my heart. I gave it away as a teenager and never got it back.I didn’t think I’d see that girl again. She was my best friend, my first … girl again. She was my best friend, my first love, the person I couldn’t wait to see arrive in June and couldn’t stand to see leave in September. But the summer she turned eighteen, she flew off to Paris and never looked back.
When she resurfaces twelve years later, I don’t want to want her. I don’t even want to care. I really just want my fucking heart back so I can move on with a normal life–marriage, kids. Hell, I’d settle for a cease-fire in my romantic life.
It turns out we’ve got a shared interest in her grandfather’s land. This could be the perfect opportunity to settle the past. Or it could be the biggest mistake of my life, the one that destroys my heart for good.
Books in the Wildfire Lake series can be read as stand alone novels.

To say this book starts out with a…bang…is doing it a grave injustice. Laiyla, Chloe and KT meet at a retreat (as guests and instructors) and become friends thru an experience that changes their lives. I won’t give any clues as to what happens; I just suggest you read the story. I will say: whoa.
This experience bonds these three women together and they remain very good friends thru the years. They finally manage to get together again at Laiyla’s late grandfather’s place. It is here that they create their new destinies. If I say anymore, I’d be giving spoilers and the author does an amazing job of weaving their story, and a tale for the ages, that was fascinating to me.
Mainly this story is about Laiyla returning to the place where she spent wonderful times with her now deceased grandfather, and the boy who made an impact on her life, Levi. Long ago, Laiyla left town and never returned. Broke Levi’s heart but it seems both have tried to move on. Yeah. That didn’t work out too well for either of them. But they are back together again so watch out!
There are tons of quirky small-town characters in this book and they certainly make life interesting for Laiyla AND Levi. Chloe and KT start to have a bit of their story unfold – at least I hope their stories will come next! – and these three women, and the men who will round out their trio, have me hooked. I need to say that Laiyla’s parents are not folks that I would like (great writing on the part of the author) and the townsfolk are certainly protective of their own. It makes for a great beginning for what I hope for in a series and loved Levi and Laiyla.
The perfect quick summer read. You get a small town, second chance romance with a touch of angst. I really love the way it starts with inner monologue our (h) Laiyla. She is on a retreat to find herself. It made me giggle. And then the wind starts blowing…
In Too Deep is second chance romance between teenage lovers who are from different worlds. It’s been 12 years and Laiyla is still dealing with many of the same issues she had as a teen.
I loved watching this couple find true love again. They had a few obstacles to overcome, but when it’s right, it’s right. Now about her BFF’s I adore them. Can’t wait to read their stories!
In Too Deep is the first book I have read from Skye Jordan and I was completely hooked the moment I started reading and throw in the fact this book is a small town, second chance romance and I am completely sold!
First off, I LOVED the prologue to this story. I loved the introduction to Laiyla and her two instant friends, Chloe and KT all thanks to being stuck in a cyclone together. These girls are serious friendship goals and I want to join them!
Laiyla has been living in the city and travelling the world, but now that she is almost 30 she is returning back to Wildfire Lake where she spent her summers as teen at her Grandfather’s cabin and the place where she met her first love. Of course, when she returns after years away she doesn’t want to run into one person, but Levi just so happens to be the first person she sees again.
I loved Laiyla and Levi’s relationship. It was fun, hot and emotional. They have tons of chemistry between them, even after years apart with no contact. Now that they are both in the same place can they continue what they had as teens or is there no chance for a future?
In Too Deep is a MUST READ and I can’t wait for the next two books in this series!
This is book 1 in the Wildfire Lake series. In this one we are introduced to Laiyla and Levi. While growing up Laiyla wanted for nothing except for her parents to put less pressure on her and actually let her figure out what her dream was. As a teen she gave up the things and people that mattered the most to her in order to try to win her parents approval. Now as an adult, she has never felt like she has gotten nor that her life is her own. On a trip away she meet’s 2 women during a catastrophe that no one saw coming and made friends for life. They may be completely different but they have a bond that ties them together like sisters. Years later, they decide it is time to meet up again for their birthdays. Not realizing that it will change their path’s or their future dreams. Levi and Laiyla were best friends and teenage sweethearts until she walked away in her effort to please her parents. He has never gotten over her, but he doesn’t believe she will stay this time either. Can he realize that people can change and trust her with his heart or will he stay locked away and crush what they could have?
I was a little leery about reading this one but I love this author and thought, why not? I am so glad that I did! I was sucked into this story right from the start and left wanting more when it ended! I loved these women! They are definitely different personalities but they compliment each other and make you laugh and love them. Levi is this strong, resilient man who you can’t help but love and feel horrible for at the same time. But then you have to realize both perspectives. My only drawback was I wish Laiyla would have stood up to her parents sooner but I also get why she didn’t. I really can’t wait for the next one and I really want the one after that!!
This is the first book in the Wildfire Lake series. It starts out with three girls, Laiyla, KT and Chloe who all meet on vacation and end up forming a unique friendship in the middle of a dangerous tropical storm. Fast forward six years, and they’re getting together to celebrate their thirtieth birthdays at the property at Wildfire Lake that Laiyla’s grandfather left her when he passed. She hasn’t been there in twelve years, and when she realizes how run down the business side of the property has become she’s being pulled between the pressure of selling it to her parents and the desire to keep it and bring back what this place used to be.
It’s been twelve years since Laiyla walked out of Levi’s life and took his heart with her. He’s traveled, owns a successful business, and has tried moving on from that teenage girl with no such luck. Now she’s back, and bets have been placed on how long she will stick around this time. One week? One Month? Forever?
First book by Skye Jordan and I really liked it! This book was a quick and easy read! It was cute, sexy, and a little angsty. I love that there was a focus on friendship throughout the book. The three girls have a strong connection considering they haven’t seen each other in person in the six years since they all first met. I love Laiyla’s character. She’s beautiful, strong and independent, but has overbearing parents who continue to overshadow her. Levi is sweet, sexy, a little broody, and has a huge heart. He cares deeply for his family and as much as he tries to stay away from Laiyla, his love for her runs deep. This was a very cute second chance romance. There wasn’t a lot of angst in this book, but there was some push and pull between Laiyla and Levi. Jordan kept me hooked throughout the book wanting to find out what happened next. In Too Deep really set up the next two books in the series and I can’t wait to find out who KT and Chloe fall for!

A fabulous start to Wildfire Lake, In Too Deep is a second chance romance and so much more. I loved the characters and the story and can’t wait to read more.
“With you, I’ve never been able to think short-term. With you, it’s always been forever.”
In Too Deep is a small town, second chance romance. We are following Laiyla who has been under her parents’ thumb all her life. She always follows their rules and does whatever they wish of her and that included leaving Levi behind 12 years ago to go to Paris. Levi was her first love and vice versa. Hearts were broken on both sides and now Laiyla is back in town to spend some quality time with her best friends at her deceased grandfather’s cabin at the lake. But what she finds when she gets there will tear open festering wounds, make her come to terms with who she has become and who she wants to be, and a certain handsome contractor with a few bones to pick with her.
The first 15% of this story took me a while to get into, but as soon as Levi hit the scene this book hit warp speed for me. I couldn’t get enough of their back and forth banter and their undeniable chemistry. Can we just talk about that smoking hot boat scene?! Whew!
I also very much loved the female friendships in this book. KT and Chloe knew when to hold Laiyla’s hand and when to tell her to stop being an idiot like any good friend does. I cannot wait to read KT and Chloe’s books. The small scenes we got between Chloe and the gorgeous cop Xavier had me drooling.
This was my first Skye Jordan book and it sure as hell won’t be my last!

CW-there are some themes of dealing with and overcoming grief
good book. I like all her books
Loved this story of friendship and second chance romance. In Too Deep is the first in a new series by Skye Jordan and has everything you’d expect from this author – realistic, relatable characters, friendship, humor and a steamy, angsty rekindling of romance between Levi and Laiyla. I can’t wait to read the upcoming stories of KT and Chloe!
Love Second Chances!
A new series by Skye Jordan. A Second Chance romance. Long Lasting Friendship.
Leaving home and your high school sweetheart is never easy… Coming back home to face the choices you made is a bit hard. But with the support of your best friends, you can conquer the world… and possible find your way back to where your heart belongs.
Skye Jordan will once again win you over with her amazing story of love and strength. The journey Laiyla has to go through to find her happiness is just the feel-good story I needed right now and Levi is the guy you will fall in love with and understand why the romance remains! I can’t wait for the next 2 books in the series!
Skye Jordan is off to a running start with her new series. It is an excellent second chance romance that introduces current book characters, as well as upcoming book characters that you can’t wait to learn more about. In Too Deep is about connections with the people in your life who make it complete. The characters were very real and believable. It was a page turner from beginning to end and I can’t wait for more in this series!
In Too Deep is the start to a new series (Wildfire Lake) and a second chance romance–and I have to say, both of those facts have me pretty excited 🙂 Second chance romance, when done well, can be a lot of fun–and when that second chance romance is populated by secondary characters who you also want to see get an HEA? That’s pretty much a win-win in my book!
Laiyla and Levi didn’t work out the first time around for the classic–mainly because it’s the most believable–reason; they were too young the first time around and their lives weren’t quite their own yet. Of course, by the time the story proper begins (there is a prologue almost seven years in the past) Laiyla’s nearing thirty, and as such should be beyond the reach of her parents. She isn’t, though–she’s still working for their hotel business–and Levi is 100% right to question if they should even bother this time around either. No one’s getting any younger, and he’s the only one of his siblings to not be married and starting a family (can I just say–I *love* that this time it’s the guy who really wants kids?) and yeah, if she’s not going to be on the same page then no, they shouldn’t even get started again.
So, Layla’s got some thinking to do. And some growing up to do, and some standing up for herself–and for Levi to do. If only he didn’t keep distracting her with sexy times…gosh darn him 😉
In Too Deep is a steamy, sexy start to a new series, and I can’t wait to return to Wildfire Lake to watch Chole and KT (OMG, now I *really* need to know what KT stands for!) find their HEAs–fingers crossed that it’ll be with a cop and an ER doctor, respectively… 🙂
In unrelated news, man, do I want to go on vacation. Curse this cursed pandemic, getting in the way of my own lakefront vacay…

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I really enjoyed this book. A life long friendship is formed between three almost perfect strangers during a cyclone. This friendship survives distance and the trying times of that life seems to throw at you. When these friends finally come together they will help each other find a way to let go, new beginnings, to take chances, and even to find love all while building a new business.
4.5 Stars!
Laiyla Saxon grew up in a wealthy family that owns a chain of hotels. She’s a city girl living in Los Angeles, and on the outside she appears to have it all. Brains, beauty, and a fabulous career, but on the inside she’s struggling and frustrated with where her life is at. For years she’s let her parents control her, and living up to their expectations has become exhausting. Her hopes and dreams were suffocated, and she can’t remember the last time she was truly happy, but if she really searches her heart it would be the times spent with her grandfather at his cabin in California, and with the local boy there who’d once been her everything. When she returns to Wildfire Lake to tie up some loose ends will she find herself and figure out where she really belongs?
Levi Asher lives in Wildfire and has a wonderful life, except he’s missing that someone special to share it with. He gave his heart away as a teenager, and never got it back. Laiyla was the one that got away. They spent eight perfect summers together and then she walked away and left him feeling completely shredded. It’s been twelve years, and now she’s back in Wildfire, but for how long is anyone’s guess. They have a history that ended over a decade ago, but she still makes him feel out of control. He’s never felt this way about anyone else or had this intense of a connection. He still wants her, but knows he can’t survive her again. Will she stay in his past or become his future? Will they finally get their shot at forever?
In Too Deep (Wildfire Lake, #1) by Skye Jordan is a sexy, emotional, heartwarming standaone romance about friendship, first loves, second chances, and unbreakable connections. I really loved this story and can’t wait for more books in the series!
** spoiler alert ** She is desperate for her parents approval. He doesn’t want to leave his home town. Will they find their way back to each other? Will she finally be free?
I LOVED this second chance romance. At first, I’ll admit that I thought she was prissy and spoiled, but then when we got further in and we see her start to spread her wings, she was completely different. I loved how he was steady. I did think that he probably shouldn’t have pushed for so much, so soon, but I understood where he was coming from. Cannot wait for the next book in this series!
This is one of those sweet second chance love stories. I loved this story. Laiyla and Levi are both such strong characters. The story is well written, the characters are well developed and realistic.
When Laiylas grandfather passes away he leaves her his property and house on Wildfire Lake a place she spent each summer, a place she had loved. Her parents are not happy that the property was left to her and not to them, but then her grandfather knew that her mother had never liked the place so he left it to the person who had loved it as much as he had.
When Laiyla finally takes the time to go and visit the property she is astounded at the state of it. Her father had told her he hired someone to take care of everything. It is a good thing Laiyla has two really good friends that are willing to help her out.
Running into Levi was not something that she was hoping for, she had left him years ago and had never looked back, so seeing him again was a shock.
Levi was not expecting to see Laiyla so when he saw her standing on the dock at her grandfathers place he just hd to go and see her.
This one is a page turner, it just sucks you right into the story. I love a book that pull emotions from me and this one certainly did. I got angry at some characters, and felt sorry for Laiyla. I laughed because the humor in this book is great.
The love scenes can be a little steamy so I would not hand this over to a younger reader.
If you love a great romance story, that is so well written that you feel like you are a part of it, then this is the book for you.
Skye Jordan has done it once again with In Too Deep, the first in the Wildfire Lake series.
In Too Deep tells the story of Laiyla and Levi and their second chance at love.
When Laiyla was young, her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her grandfather at his cabin on Wildfire Lake. There, she met Levi and over time, a budding romance happened between the two. But at 18, Laiyla left him behind to pursue other things. Now, 12 years later she is back and wanting to take over the legacy her grandfather had left when he died, only to find it in ruins. As Laiyla and her two friends, Chloe and KT, try to rebuild the place from her childhood that meant so much to her, can she also rebuild her relationship with Levi?
4 Returning Home Stars!!!
There’s nothing better than a new series by one of my favorite authors and I’m happy to say Ms. Jordan has created characters, a town and a series I’m full on in-love with!
This book starts off with a bang! Laiyla is a woman that spent her Summers on Wildfire Lake with her beloved grandfathered and crushing on Levi the local boy that she left behind when she left at the end of the summer years ago and to never return. Imagine her surprise when she comes back to what she thinks will be an idyllic vacation with her two besties that she met years ago to the place that holds her best memories only to discover nothing is as it should be! And even better, who does she encounter first in a moment that had me laughing out loud but her girlhood crush but Levi!
There’s so many things to love about this book… the strength and love of friendships formed at the edge of a disaster, discovering that you’re so much more than a label assigned to you, that if you want something it’s worth the physical labor to make it happen and that sometimes young love turns into a forever love.
This book has all the things I love about Ms. Jordan’s writing… a story that engages all my emotions and has me unable to put the book down. I loved how Levi and Laiyla’s animosity turns to the love they always wanted with each other, the strength of the girls friendship proving that even when it looks like a lost cause there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, that plans you thought were what you wanted can change and for the better without even recognizing the switch because it seems like the natural thing to happen and most importantly that when you decide what you want and are prepared to stand your ground it’s the payoff of a lifetime!
I’m so ready for KT and Chloe’s stories because I can’t wait to see what Wildfire Lake will bring both of them!!
Skye did it again! She took a second-chance romance and created a page turner. We rooted for these two characters as we waited to see how their romance turned out. This was a great way to start out a new series, and I can’t wait for the next book!
**My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.
‘My stomach seizes and my heart skips. “Levi?” I still don’t quite believe it. I’m not prepared to face him. Not in the least. “I’m touched you remember my name.” ‘
Laiyla can not believe it. Her first 5 minutes in town, and she runs into her teenage love. What are the chances? She’s been gone 12 years, but no man has every compared to Levi and the love she felt for him. And she’s never really been happier than she was during her summer visits to this little town.
Levi can’t believe Laiyla is really back. The question is for how long? He feels he can’t even think about letting her back into his life, or his heart.
Laiyla has a lot of convincing to do to get the people in Wildfire to see that she is back to do good not harm to the town. As far as what do about Levi? Laiyla knows she is still in love with him. But can she really give him the commitment he wants? Which means turning her back on her past career, life and what her parents expect of her.
I loved this story! It was my first read by Skye Jordan. I look forward to reading more!
