Like an anchor wedged in the lake floor, Grace Stone’s heart is submerged in the past. Drowning in guilt over the role she played in her father’s and sister’s deaths, Grace prays that launching her water survival program at Camp Moshe will properly honor their memory and enable her to move on. But success depends on Grace risking everything on the man hired to rebrand the Christian camp.Kye … Campton’s usual confidence wavers when his extreme sports campaign lands him in hot water with the cautious instructor and it becomes increasingly evident that Camp Moshe’s fight for survival is against more than a declining economy. Will Kye be able to save the camp—and Grace—from a saboteur determined to close the camp at any cost?

As someone who both attended camp as a child/teenager and later worked as a camp counselor, Stacey Weeks’s In Too Deep sounded like a great read. And I wasn’t disappointed.
At first, Grace and Kye have opposing opinions about Campe Moshe, but it doesn’t take like before they’re supporting and trusting each other. The attraction is almost immediate.
The character development in Grace is excellent as we learn about the tragedy in her past and what drives her. Kye is also well developed, yet I wish he would have shared with Grace about his ex-fiancee at some point in the book, and we, the readers, would have gotten more of that story.
But the suspense it the book is spot-on. Someone is trying to destroy the camp with some pretty harrowing stunts, and Weeks keeps us guessing right along with Kye and Grace. This is a book I recommend to anyone in search of a quick and engaging read with likable characters and some tense moments.

So much guilt. How many of us have things we regret or feel guilty about from our past? Then you can relate to Grace. She has deep deep dark grief from her father and sister’s death.
Kye has a job. He’s to turn the camp Grace runs into a profitable venture. But the two butt heads from day one. His plan is an extreme sports water camp. Her plan is to teach people how to save themselves if they get in a situation that they could drown.
Who will win out?
I started the book thinking it would be just a cute romance novel with a tiny bit of mystery. No real suspense. I was wrong. This is definitely a suspense novel. There is a saboteur trying to close the camp at all costs and Kye and Grace must work together to save it. Can they overcome their different views of what they want the camp to look like? Will their attraction and the sparks win out?
A great book that I recommend.

This is a great story about trusting God. I enjoyed getting to know Grace. She has held on to guilt over a tragedy for way too long. I felt her sadness as she recalls that fateful day. She questions herself over and over of what she could have done differently. How many times have you wanted to go back and change things in your life? I loved that she was determined to get her program funded that could save lives in the water. I’m not a big fan of water at all. When I was sixteen I almost drowned at the beach. A stranger saved my life and risked his as we kept getting swept further out to sea. Her program would have helped me that day because I don’t know how to swim.
Kye is a great character with a desire to keep his uncle’s camp open. I know how important camp is for kids. They get to make friends, enjoy the outdoors and feel a part of something. There is trouble brewing with finances and Kye is feeling the pressure. I laughed when Kye and Grace disagreed on almost everything to do with the camp. The author weaves a great mystery into the story which had me guessing till the end. It is not a coincidence that a bear stumbles into camp or a fire starts in the kitchen. Someone is out to close the camp down and it is a race to find out who it is. Danger lurks in the woods and hides in unexpected places in this intriguing story.
There is romance in the story but it is clean and the author does a good job of bringing faith into the relationship. I really liked the ending which had some great life lessons. The greatest sacrifice you can make is to give your life for another. That is illustrated very well in the story and allows Grace to let go of the past. It also shows Kye how compassionate Grace is. The other lesson I liked was trusting God and never giving up. If you are looking for a nice clean story look no further.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
Page-turning suspense
You were warned. This is your last chance to leave!
As an introduction to this author, this book certainly does not disappoint. Once started, it is impossible to set aside until the mystery of Camp Moshe is solved. Kye Campton, interim director, comes highly recommended. If you have a company that needs fixing, he will fix it or the future of that business is bleak. Here he is at Camp Moshe, with a head lifeguard that has a new program she wants to implement, staff who are related to the man that wants to buy the property and a camp board that is waiting to see if his ‘fix’ will put this concern back in the black financially.
What you have is someone or several folks who do not want this to succeed. The shenanigans start to become dangerous and people are getting hurt. Can Kye figure it out before someone is killed? If this book is any indication, I need to be on the lookout for more fabulous writing from this author!

In Too Deep by Stacey Weeks
This book was interesting and an easy read. Enjoyed the characters and setting. The story line kept my interest. The inspirational message was well presented. Enjoyed the book.
This rugged boys’ camp in Canada has a female swim instructor, and she steals the show in this contemporary novel. Grace Stone wants to make sure no one dies from an inability to swim or stay afloat, as her sister did when they were young. Guilt over her painful past pushes her to take risks as she tries to help get things ready for the new season at Camp Moshe. But so many hindrances occur that Grace and the interim director, Kye Campton, wonder if someone is attempting to sabotage their efforts. Plus, they sense an attraction for each other, which they try to avoid since he’ll be leaving soon and she is intent on getting her water survival program established and applying for a grant to teach it around the province. The interesting characters and compelling suspense make this book enjoyable to read. The outdoor setting and sports make it a great summer read. Guys should enjoy it too. As the main characters grow and surprise themselves, their hopes for the future seem dashed—but maybe it’s not too late. They learn to trust God no matter what. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.
Guilt has a way of overtaking our lives, especially when we blame ourself for something that happened. It has a way of either paralyzing us with fear or keeping us locked in a cycle we can not break free from at times.
Grace Stone has dreams and a desire to do something because of the tragic death of her father and sister in the past. Kye Campton just wants to complete his current job as acting camp director in order to move on to his next job.
Both have suffered in the past, but have to try and work past their guilt and hurt. These two characters are like water and oil. Yet both ultimately want to save the camp. The interactions between Kye and his mother as well as Grace and her family bring this story to life.
Add in a bear, some unexplained things that seem like accidents and the plot thickens. I could not put this book down. I wanted Grace and Kye to find their future together free of the pain of the past.
So check out this book for yourself.
