Hannah Donovan is not my type.Intellectual and career-focused, she’s a lawyer, and an intimidatingly beautiful one, at that. I’d rather pump iron than open a book, and the only reason I’d go to court would be for a traffic ticket. She’s the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever seen. So how can I turn down her plea that I pretend to be her fiancé for one weekend? But I never expected our pretend kisses to … expected our pretend kisses to feel so real … or for it to lead to a wild night in bed that will forever stand out as the highlight of my sex life.
Our performance convinces everyone, but it was never meant to be more than a fantasy. A short term gig before reality sets back in.
I can’t imagine ever being good enough for her, but I’m hooked. And now I’m determined to do whatever it takes to make this fake engagement real.
Each novel in the series is a STANDALONE romance with a guaranteed HEA!
And don’t miss Bar Bites: A Man of the Month cookbook featuring recipes, slices of life, and an all new short story!

I loved Hannah and Matthew!!! It’s sweet and sexy and their chemistry is off the charts. How I love a fake relationship that turns into so much more. I think these two are my favorites, but then again I feel this way after each book! I love how each book can be a standalone but also love catching up with the gang of The Fix on Sixth!
Matthew, our favorite gym owner, and Hannah, Easton’s bestie, start off as pretend couple. This of course doesn’t last long. Can this couple make it once the truth comes out? This was a good, fast-paced read. 4.5/5 stars.
In Too Deep by J. Kenner is Man of the Month book 10. Hannah Donovan is just steps away from starting her own law firm with Easton a long time friend and colleague. The only problem is that the money she was supposed to be able to invest has gotten tied up due to some issues at her former employer. Her only other option require her to be “settled” and since she hasn’t had any sort of relationship in months her options are thin. Her friend, and Eason’s girlfriend, Selma, has an idea though, her brother Mathew.
Mathew Herrington is a successful gym owner with passion and drive. But he is also a drop out and knows that someone as intelligent and put together as Hannah is out of his league. Not that he hasn’t wished otherwise. When Selma tells him Hannah needs his help he is afraid that he is going to get burned, but that doesn’t stop Selma from making her idea come to fruition.
What starts out as awkward friends, progresses quickly to friendship and passion. As they spend more time together something more blossoms, but can Hannah realize that she can have it all, career and love? Can Mathew let go and find that he is not the drop out that he has in his mind and has more to offer? These characters were ones that once together become more than the sum of their individual parts. The complexity of the characters that Ms. Kenner creates continues to impress and book 10 in this series is just as good as book 1.
Overall I had fun reading In Too Deep by J. Kenner and enjoyed Hannah and Mathew’s adventure together as they found themselves in each other.
(I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book I received for free from the publisher in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)
“Hannah reached out her hand for his, and the simple gesture tugged at his heart. That sense of being a team. Of having a partner in the world. Someone you loved and loved you back. For this weekend, apparently, it was his to enjoy. Too bad it was all fake.”
Lawyer Hannah Donovan finds herself in a sticky situation- to get her inheritance, she has to prove to her parents that she is in a stable relationship that they will approve of. And sweet chivalrous gym owner Matthew Harrington is just the man to help her by pretending to be her fiancé. Matt has no problem “pretending” to adore Hannah, but as their act evolves into a real connection, he thinks she deserves more than he can offer. Can Matt get the wife & family he wants when Hannah has no room in her life for anything outside her career? Find out in this cute fake fiancé story, tenth in the Man of the Month series.
It’s time for Mr. October! Matthew is yummy! I got invested in Hannah and Matthew’s story. I really liked them and they definitely had chemistry. Hannah deserves to reach her dreams. She wasn’t counting on Matthew because he could alter those dreams. The canoe ride was so romantic and swoon worthy move on Matthew’s part. My heart went out to Hannah because of the situation she was in with her family. Glad she had Matthew and her friends in her corner. This is the tenth book in the series and can tell you I’m sad we’re getting towards the end. I love this bunch trying their hardest to save the bar.
We’re down to the last three books of the ‘Man of the Month’ series by J. Kenner, and it’s been quite a ride so far. In Too Deep carries the baton of great stories or yet another month and one more sexy as sin guy. Book ten has Hannah and Matthew as the focus of the story, they’ve both been in other books but now it’s time for their tale, and to get the whole insider look at it, you really need to read the others in this series.
Hannah wants to start a new law practice with Easton from All Night Long #9 in this series, but in able to do so, she needs to get her hands on her inheritance from her dad. Unfortunately, it’s tied up, and the only way to get her hands on it, is the show her mom and step-father that she is ready to settle down.
But, in order to do that, she needs someone to pretend with her. A fake fiance is in order. Easton’s girlfriend, Selma has the ideal candidate. Her brother Matthew.
Matthew is more than happy to help out. MORE THAN HAPPY. It is his dream come true. Well, apart from the fake part that is. He’s had a thing for Hannah for a long time and would love to think he was about to get the chance to show her how he feels. For real. But, that’s not what Hannah’s looking for.
Can he keep his feelings hidden?
What will happen when Hannah starts to harbor feelings of her own?
From pretend to full on love affair, this book held my interest throughout. Matthew was sweet and kind, and Hannah sassy and sexy. These two played off each other brilliantly, the chemistry was spot on.
Only 2 more books to go. Griff is next in line and I’m looking forward to reading his story.
Oh wow, we’re almost done with the series and man I’m so invested. I have followed each story from the start and in every review I state the same thing, Each book keeps getting better! I’m so enjoying this series so much, hate to reach an end!
In this book we meet Hannah and Matthew. She needs to convince her parents, rather her stepfather, she is happy and in engaged so they can give her inheritance. Matthew is more than willing to play the part of her fiancé to help her get her money. But playing pretend can sometimes back fire on you. After both becoming good friends and get combatable with each other, soon they realize how much they enjoy being together.
I loved these two together and their story. Both have goals, both know what they want yet I loved how they realizes their goal can only feel complete having each other. I felt their connection, felt that spark. But As always J Kenner gives us a great steamy and Hot story for us to devoured!
I totally recommend this whole series. I personally haven’t been able to pick a man of the month, every month I end LOVING the feature man. lol
The connotative meanings when it comes to the title for Mr. October’s book has a number of implications in regards to the hero and heroine, and as the story line progresses, it’s clear that both characters are in too deep, whether it be due to the complications of their fake romance feeling a little bit too real or the fact that the hero is quite smitten with the heroine and has a difficult time downplaying those feelings or it could be the reasons behind Hannah’s need for a fake engagement or even what she has to wade through with her mother and stepfather that has her extremely frustrated and panicked.
Regardless of the culprit, figuring out a way for both of them to get what they want is their highest priority, and when Hannah and Matthew figure out that they might just be on the same page when it comes to what they truly want from one another and their ‘fake’ relationship, which means that they need to find a way to turn fantasy into reality without anyone catching on to how their engagement started and that there’s more at stake than they ever thought possible when Matthew agreed to Hannah’s plan, even if he felt she was out of his league.
The fake engagement, fake relationship trope is one I know well, and while there seems to be a lot of romance stories that center around this plot line, most that I’ve read lately bring something fresh and/or unique to the story, which is all I need to not make what I read feel so monotonous. In Too Deep works its own distinct angle when it comes to the structure of the story and the reason behind the need to role play as an engaged couple, and it’s clear what the hero and the heroine have to gain from their arrangement, even if what they realize perhaps complicates things…it’s a complication that, I think, they’ll both end up wanting and in some ways, needing.
There’s only Mr. November and Mr. December left to meet, which makes me curious about the finale and how J. Kenner is going to give her Men of the Month boys and their significant others the sendoff they deserve…I can’t wait to find out!
4 Poison Apples
This is the tenth book in the Man of the Month series. This book is Matthew and Hannah’s love story. Matthew is a gym owner and Hannah is a lawyer. I enjoyed seeing their story evolve from the ninth book. Every story starts somewhere and this one starts with Hannah needing a fiancé to make her family believe she is responsible. Matthew stepped in to help but the feelings seem to change as they fake their relationship. I love this series. I can’t believe we are already on the 10th one.
We are getting so close the end! In Too Deep by J. Kenner, is the tenth book in the Man of the Month series and a fun one to read! Though each story can be read as a standalone, there is a bit of character and story buildup in each book.
Hannah Donovan and Matthew had such great chemistry, but all Hannah wanted was to be able to go into a new business with her best friend. But to do so she needed to have a fake fiancé. Easy, right? Hannah is smart and very focused. Matthew runs a gym and is a good guy but does not think he is good enough for Hannah.
The more time they spend together, the more they enjoy themselves. They are very convincing, maybe too convincing. Now Matthew is wondering if this could really be more. I found In Too Deep to be a much lighter and fun read compared to the other books in the series. This is a quick and fun read and would suggest reading the entire series.
Read and reviewed for Reviews From The Heart.
Happy Reading!
I really enjoyed Hannah and Matthew’s story. I’m not always impressed with the “fake fiancé “ premise but this one was different. They both had different backgrounds but managed to make it work through any insecurities that they had. I’ll be sorry when the series ends and I don’t get my The Fix on Sixth monthly fix.
Coming into the homestretch for this Man of the Month series! In too Deep is Hannah and Matthew’s story.
Hannah’s in a bit of a conundrum. She needs the money set aside from her father’s life insurance policy, but that requires her to jump through many hoops set up by her mother and step father. Enter Matthew.
Matthew’s had a serious crush on Hannah for a while and acting as her “fake fiancé” gives him an opportunity to get to know her better and hopefully be the start of something “more.” What could go wrong? How about a lot?
I really like the relationship between Hannah and Matthew. They were fun, sexy and pretty much perfect for each other!
What I didn’t like was the lack of discussion about Hannah’s past relationship. And of course the relationship with her mother and step father… there wasn’t really any resolution to the situation.
I am looking forward to Griff and Brent’s stories!
Hannah needs to find a boyfriend/fiancé that will live up to her family’s expectations in order to get her inheritance. When she hooks up with Matthew to lie to her family she gets more than she bargained for when the two click and passion ignites. But will their plan crash and burn when both admit that the feelings are real? Or will the two choose each other over the inheritance? With great characters and a storyline that was enjoyable to read this was a great book. I’m going to be very sad when this series ends.
Easton and Hannah have been friends for many years and have decided to open law firm together. Hannah quits her other job but her boss makes it where she can’t touch retirement until she retires. That was how she was going to pay half for building they found for the law firm. Her father who was a cop left her a life insurance policy worth $50,000 but her mom and stepdad won’t let her have it without being in committed relationship. She’s single, what is she going to do? Hannah’s friend Selma comes up with idea of using her single brother as Hannah’s fiancé, will it work? Easton’s Will she ever get the money or will expectations change? Will she have to forfeit her dream?
Each time a new Man of the Month book pops up on my kindle I immediately download it and begin reading. I know I’m going to get a quick escape into this fun little world that J. Kenner has created. Now, each book can be enjoyed as a standalone, but I do recommend the series overall as well.
I really liked Matthew. I thought he was a fun book boyfriend. He’s smart-even if he doesn’t think so-sexy and sweet. I really liked watching him fall for Hannah throughout the book.
Hannah was a bit tougher for me. There was one thing I thought just didn’t add up for her and it was in the back of my mind for most of the book. I won’t spoil anything, and I did adjust to it, but it just didn’t feel like it made sense character wise at the time. I was happy with her in the end.
There’s definitely an attraction between these characters and I absolutely thought my kindle was going to melt from their sexy times. They made a fake relationship believable because that attraction was already there. They clicked outside of the bedroom as well, which is just as important.
The writing here was smart and conveyed a lot in a short time span. I think the pacing worked well. I enjoyed this installment of the Man of the Month series and I look forward to the next book. This was a quick read for sure and one I recommend.

This series is seriously hot! Book 10 is the story of Hannah and Matthew and in book 9, Hannah and her friend Easton decide to open their own law practice. Hannah quits her job and due to a loophole enforced by her less than stellar boss, she cannot access her retirement funds, which she needs for start up. Hannah’s father died when she was young and left her the money from a life insurance policy, administered by her mother and stepfather. They have decided that they will not release the funds until Hannah is in a stable relationship. Enter Matthew and all his hotness. I felt that a few of these books were going off the boil but this one, has simmered right back up again.
I LOVED this read!! From the very first page it drew me in, and held me there until the very end. Hannah and Matthew were perfect together. Each had some insecurities, but they helped each other overcome them. Hannah’s parents??? Ugh. I honestly have no words on how much anger they drew from me. I loved catching up with previous characters from this series, and can’t wait for the next book!!!
Make way for Mr. October! This book gives us a story of hidden agenda, pompous parents and finding your HEA when you least expect it. I have so far loved this series and couldn’t wait for this book. I do have to say that I felt this book was a little rushed but it was still a good book for this series.
Hannah has recently decided to change her career and become partners with her best friend but so far nothing is going as planned. She has one last shot to get the money she needs but it requires bringing Matthew in on her plan.
Matthew is ready to settle down and start a family, but he never expected a fake fiancé. When his sister gives him the idea, he is hesitant because he already has unrequited feelings for Hannah.
Neither of them expected this to be more than a farce and are now unsure how to move forward. They must decide to go all in or bow out.
Matthew and Hannah’s story was a good one. We’ve met both of these characters before, they played a prominent role in book #9 of the Man of the Month series since Matthew is Selma’s brother and Hannah is Easton’s best friend. I loved the fact that Matthew as going to play Hannah’s fake fiance.
These two had a lot of chemistry and I know it wouldn’t take much for them to make the farce reality. The writing is good, but I would have loved more story about them and their relationship and what will happen with Hannah’s family. This was another good read in this series! I can’t believe we are getting to the end of all of these wonderful couples. It was a good read.
Final Score – 4 Stars!
Hannah is starting a new law firm. If only she had the money to help sign the leas as her mom and stepdad are holding it hostage. Matthew is the owner of a gym. He’s a man who is just looking to settle down at this point in his life – wife & kids included. What happens when a meddling sister intervenes? A true friends to lovers story that’s what!
Loved Matthew & Hannah’s story. It was the perfect wind down to the Man of the Month series as there are just 2 bachelors left.
