Hannah Donovan is not my type.Intellectual and career-focused, she’s a lawyer, and an intimidatingly beautiful one, at that. I’d rather pump iron than open a book, and the only reason I’d go to court would be for a traffic ticket. She’s the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever seen. So how can I turn down her plea that I pretend to be her fiancé for one weekend? But I never expected our pretend kisses to … expected our pretend kisses to feel so real … or for it to lead to a wild night in bed that will forever stand out as the highlight of my sex life.
Our performance convinces everyone, but it was never meant to be more than a fantasy. A short term gig before reality sets back in.
I can’t imagine ever being good enough for her, but I’m hooked. And now I’m determined to do whatever it takes to make this fake engagement real.
Each novel in the series is a STANDALONE romance with a guaranteed HEA!
And don’t miss Bar Bites: A Man of the Month cookbook featuring recipes, slices of life, and an all new short story!

We are already on book #10 in the Man of the Month series! I would definitely recommend reading book #9 before you read this one!
Hannah is starting a new law firm but doesn’t quite have the money. Her mom and stepdad are holding it hostage until she settles down so what do we do? We get a fake fiance which comes by way of the best friend, Selma..it’s her brother!
Matthew is the owner of a gym and a guy who is just into his own head. Matthew really is his own critic and it takes Hannah to help him get out of the headspace.
I was really smitten with Hannah and Matthew and the journey this story took me on! In Too Deep was hot and so very good!! Bring on book #11!
When I started reading I couldn’t put it down.J. Kenner is magnifysent writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this books.
How quickly this series is flying by. The time span of this book is pretty short. It almost all happens after Mr. September is crowned until Mr. October (Matthew) is crowned. It’s almost a continuation of the previous book since Selma (Matthew’s sister) and Easton (Hannah’s business partner) play a secondary role in this book. This truly is an insta-love story considering Matthew and Hannah have no real backstory. Loved that Hannah wasn’t afraid to be the one initiate their intimacy. My biggest issue and why I didn’t give this one five stars was an unresolved issue and the ridiculousness nature of said issue.
Another great book to be added to the Man of the Month series! All I can say was “I KNEW IT!” I called it. I knew Matthew secretly had a thing for Hannah…No I promise I will not give away any spoilers. But yay! Okay, back to my review 😉
J. Kenner does another fantastic job bring us more characters that circle around The Fix. I love Hannah and I felt her angst and anxiety when all she wants to do is start a private practice with her best friend.
Matthew is some how (you will find out on the “How” in the book ) thrown in a stunt to be The Man in Hannah’s life. I adored how these two grew closer. I am completely hooked with this book and I am excited for the next book. Eeek! Just two left! I loved every single story that has come along.
Mr. October is sweet, dependable and oh, so sexy. Hannah is in a bind, she needs a fiancé to convince her mother and step-father she is worthy to receive a sum of money left by her father for her. Her good friend Selma, volunteers her brother Matthew as a likely candidate. Matthew has built a successful business but doesn’t see himself as worthy since he dropped out of school. He is drawn to Hannah’s confidence and compassion. As these two put on a show for Hannah’s parent’s, will fantasy become reality? Or will their own doubts and insecurities keep them apart? I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
5 Star Review In Too Deep (Man of the Month #10) by J Kenner
This is the tenth book in the series and is Hannah Donovan and Matthew Herrington’s story. In Too Deep is an extremely well written, fun quick story which grabbed my attention from the start.
Hannah is the best friend and new law partner of Easton Wallace. Everything is going well in their plans to establish their new practice until it isn’t. The money she planned to use from her pension fund suddenly cannot be accessed and her mother does not want to release her inheritance from her late father unless she is in a committed relationship.
When she spills her woes to Easton’s girlfriend Selma, she comes up with a plan to get her brother to help Hannah out.
Matthew has always been drawn to Hannah and vice a versa. The chemistry between Hannah and Matthew sizzles and I absolutely adored Matthew.
However it isn’t as smooth sailing as it could be. Matthew is now at a point where he is looking to find “the one”. Hannah doesn’t feel she is ready to settle down, especially since she us trying to build up their practice.
The books in this series can easily be read as stand alone, but since they are not that long and a quick and easy read I would recommend you one click them all.
This has been a fun series to read and I am excited and sad that there are only two more books to come; looking forward to Mr. November.
What do you do when find out everything you want goes against what you thought you wanted? How do you turn it around? This and more goes through Hannah’s brain as she deals with her parents and everything that can come tumbling down around her. This author gives us a great story where even when things don’t go quite like planned it still works. I love these to characters who have done all the right things in life but life had other plans for them.
Great addition to the Man of the Month series. With each book you get to know the entire family of characters as they interact on the different books. Loads of fun and fast moving books make it a great series to enjoy.
“He’d felt it—felt her—humming through him. Like he’d walked too close to a transformer, and his body had begun to buzz from the electricity in the air.”
Another great read that will have you turning the pages faster and faster since you will be so committed to these characters and wanting to see where their journey takes them. What appears on the surface is opposite personalities…yet when you really look they are both loyal, career oriented, passionate and like minded.
“Her body was gloriously sore, and she was wonderfully relaxed. Her only regret, in fact, was that there wasn’t going to be a repeat performance. They’d set down strict rules, after all.
This book has humor, passion, friendship, strength, regret, hope, deceit and acceptance. What happens when you feel you are being forced to please others in order to make your dreams come true…you fake it…or are you being authentic to yourself…
Looking forward to the next Man of the Month book Light My Fire. I can’t wait to meet Griffin. This series just keeps tugging at my heart. I’m sure Griffin won’t disappoint.
Hannah Donovan needs my help ….. she is the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen so how can I turn her plea down when she asks me to be her fake fiancé for the weekend. Hannah Donovan has dreamed of having her own law firm so when her best friend Easton Wallace offers her a partnership the only thing she needs to do is come up with her half of the start up costs, that shouldn’t be too hard her father left her an insurance policy when he was killed in the line of duty but her mother and her stepfather have put conditions on her getting her hands on the money she needs to be in a committed relationship that they approve off and the only person she knows who may help her is me but will I be good enough for the girl I have only ever admired from afar and will our pretend kisses end up meaning more than I could ever hope for……..
I love this series of short reads and for me Hannah and Matthews story is the best so far, the chemistry is sizzling and the storyline is powerful. I’m sad that we are book 10 and that means only 2 more in the Man of the Month Series, I will be sorry to come to the end of this journey with such wonderful couples.
IN TOO DEEP by J. Kenner is book 10 in the Man of the Month series. This is the story of Matthew and Hannah. I have read the other books but feel this can easily be a standalone book.
Hannah was at a dead in job and quit to go into business with Easton Wallace. But she needs some of the money that her father left to her but to get it she must prove to her mom and stepdad that she is setting down roots and is committed in a relationship. Selma Herrington who is with Easton volunteers her brother Matthew to be Hannah’s pretend love.
Matthew always thought Hannah was the most beautiful women ever and can’t turn down her plea to be her love for the weekend.
But as we know pretend sometimes works to be real.
IN TOO DEEP is the tenth instalment in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult MAN OF THE MONTH romance, novella series focusing on a fund raiser for the popular Austin, Texas bar known as The Fix. This is businessman and gym owner Matthew Herrington, and attorney Hannah Donovan’s story line. IN TOO DEEP can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary although I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion.
SOME BACKGROUND: The Fix on Sixth, a local Austin hangout and bar, is in desperate need of renovations and a quick influx of cash so a plan is put into motion, by a group of regulars, a plan that includes a Man of the Month calendar competition, a recipe book, and a reality show aimed at rehabbing the bar.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Hannah and Matthew) IN TOO DEEP is a fake fiancé romance that follows Hannah Donovan as she struggles in the face of a more powerful force. Hannah and her best friend and fellow attorney Easton Wallace are about to embark on a legal partnership but the money she had hoped to invest in their business is currently controlled by her mother and step-father, money she inherited but her father controls. Hoping to convince her parents that her ‘relationship’ with Matthew is the real thing, Hannah and Matthew offer up a fake engagement but to no avail. What ensues is the building romance between our leading couple, and the potential fall-out when Matthew doesn’t measure up to her parent’s expectations.
IN TOO DEEP is a quick read; a sexy and flirty, heart warming and inspiring tale about two people caught in a fantasy of lies. The premise is engaging; the romance is spicy; the characters are energetic and spirited. The story line ends without a satisfying resolution- I am hoping the author has plans for a more complete happily ever after.
In Too Deep is the next installment in the Man of the Month Series, which is Hannah and Matthew’s story. Hannah is an attorney at a dead end consulting firm and has just quit to go into business with Easton Wallace, the ex judicial candidate for the upcoming election. He dropped out of the race after meeting back up with Selma Herrington, where they have picked back up on their long lost relationship. Selma has talked her brother Matthew into pretending he and Hannah are in a relationship so she can get a $50,000 life insurance check from her dad who was shot in the line of duty when she was a baby, that should have been hers long ago, but her mother and new stepdad are trying to control her life, therefore won’t give it to her until they see fit. She needs that money for the partnership she’s entering with Easton. Overall, I really liked this couple together, the chemistry was pretty commanding, definite dominance on Matthews end, and both wanting to succeed with their new businesses, but also want a family life. I found Ernest to be a complete ass, and although her mother supposedly loves her she doesn’t have a backbone when it comes to her husband, which drives me nuts. The whole cast is back making cameos in this story, Matthew is the one this time who is up for MOM, given how built he is, should be a no brained on who wins. Short quick read for your summertime beach reading. Kept my interest throughout the book. Looking forward to Beverly and Griffith’s installment.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
