I am sooooo glad I found Loreth Anne White books!! I literally could not put this story down either. She made me think, laugh, cry, and feel. The mystery she weaved was an interesting one. Of course, one of my favorite things to read about is second chance love. White created a wonderful dynamic between Blake and Megan. I rooted for them throughout the whole book. I CRIED towards the end – and you’ll find out why. Without giving too much away, I’ve never been so happy to reach the end of the book to find out what happened. My little heart almost couldn’t take it.
The way White describes things really makes the reader think. She really puts you into the setting. I cannot wait to read another Loreth Anne White book!
Pick this book up! Especially if you enjoy second chance love, romantic suspense, and/or mystery type books!
I originally gave this book 4 stars but after having a few days to ponder it, I upped it to 5. Loreth Ann White is one of my favorite suspense authors. She managed to capture my attention and keep it for the entirety of the book and then she has my thoughts for days after as well.
I loved this story, the characters, the personal struggles and the way it all played out.
Loreth Anne White brings readers a romantic suspense to devour. True crime authors should never write about unsolved cases. What about when the unsolved murder is your sister’s?
I highly recommend this book to fans of the contemporary romantic suspense genre.
A real nail-biter and impossible to call since so many people had reason to want the victim dead.
Talk about atmosphere, mood, and some of the best characters! Welcome to a small marina on the coast of Oregon where crab and sunsets bring in the visitors.
Meg, a famous writer, has moved back to finally solve the rape and murder of Sherry, her sister. But her return brings back memories people would like to keep buried. No one tells the whole truth, even years later people prefer the story that makes them look good. Blake and his son Noah are the good guys, but who else? There’s Tommy, Sherry’s ex boyfriend, Dave deputy sheriff whose father “solved” the crime, and the others. Sally, Emma, Geoff, Henry and Mason…all with their own secrets….and one ready to kill.
Small towns bring security and family and good friends…unless you are different…..then you are an outsider even if born and bred in this haven.
I fell in love with young Noah, carrying such a burden on his thin shoulders. Meg is stubborn and scared but she keeps on digging. Geoff is Blake’s brother and has come home to tell a truth about his new life.
This book moves fast yet lingers on the small town good things that makes the bad things seem even more shocking.
The action scenes are so real, so deeply moving and the ending is a two part ending.
This is rated 4.8……highly recommend.
From page one you are pulled into a captivating story that takes hold of your mind and catapults you through such an emotional journey to finding the truth about a murder that happened over twenty years ago.
Loreth Anne White has such an intelligent way of telling a story. I’ve always thought her voice was unique and In the Waning Light proves that still to be true.
I’m not going to speak much about the actual story – the blurb gives a good description – as it would give away too many secrets that are a big part of this book. The reader needs to experience them as Meg Brogan (the heroine) a true crime writer as she writes and experiences them during the book. The author doesnt write what I call conventional romantic suspense. What she puts a reader through is torture until that last page. When I say that I am not meaning it as a bad thing just you have no idea of which way something is going to go until the end.
