Tonight I’m tangled in my blankets of clouds.
This is action-packed from beginning to end. It grabs you and doesn’t let go. I am aware this is the third in the series, however, it can stand alone. It only makes me want to go back and read the last two novels. This novel concerns Adam Blake. He is on the run trying to protect his daughter from a lethal and notorious mob boss. He goes to his local favorite diner to see Pete Bradshaw and his pretty, young Granddaughter Callista Martin. She’s just completed her Masters Degree in Music performance. Calista is off to begin her musical career. Adam is very smitten with the pretty, young girl however, he knows Calista doesn’t belong in his world of danger and keeps his feelings to himself. Adam drives Calista home. A blinding, white light, headache makes Adam crash into a tree. Adam then hears his daughter Anna’s voice is in his mind pleading for him to come home. Adam and Callista go to Adam’s house only to find the horror that awaits them. I confess. I didn’t exactly understand all that was happening. I did reread some paragraphs to understand the characters connection to each other. The reason for that is I didn’t read the last two books. I definitely will do. The story is somewhat convoluted but flows beautifully with action-packed, heart-wrenching scenes, you will not soon forget. I liked the paranormal aspect of the book. It makes the story more intriguing and mysterious. I read the book twice b/c I thought I didn’t understand what was happening the first time. I didn’t mind. I liked the book anyway. Lol. I loved the romance between Adam and Calista. The scenes with Calista and Adam will break your heart and make you cry. I loved the ending. It should have had a soundtrack. Lol. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and will not be my last. I look forward to reading her last two and ill gladly read them twice. Lol. I received a complimentary copy of this book for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
In The Shadow of Malice is an action-packed thriller romance drama! I could not put the book down. The action begins in the first few pages and carries on to the very last page. Adam Blake is a man on the run trying to protect those that he loves. This has been his life, and he does not know how to live otherwise. Through a few twists in this phenomenal plot with surprises at the end, In The Shadow of Malice delivers an awesome dramatic punch just as the first two books in the Shadows and Light series did. Each book in this series is very different but takes you on a ride that necessitates buckling up from page one. I can hardly wait for book 4, In The Shadow of Pride!

This author has quickly become one of my favorites for romantic suspense books. I have to say Jennie and Jared are still my favorite couple of hers, but In the Shadow of Malice, she introduces us to a new book boyfriend, Adam Blake. This book will have you flipping the pages to see what’s going to happen next. This action-packed read centers around Adam and Calista. He was just giving her a ride home from the diner owned by her grandfather, but things change quickly, after one phone call. I don’t want to leave any spoilers, but I highly recommend this author and especially this series. Grab your copy and see what happens. I bet you’ll love little Anna, Adam’s little girl.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
I received a free ARC copy in exchange for my honest review. This is my own opinion and was not influenced by anyone.
Shadows and Light book three is In The Shadow Of Malice. Nancy C. Weeks has a thrilling, suspenseful book that I could NOT put down. I am now a huge fan.
The book opens fast and hard like the accelerating car that Adam drives off the road. My head was spinning trying to figure this story out. The story slowly peeled away each layer to reveal another twist and deeper level to the story. My emotions were all over the place. I was at the author’s mercy.
Any quick summary I could give of this would not do it justice. There are so many moving parts. All of the characters had depth to them. I have not read the first two books in the series YET, but I plan to next. I didn’t feel lost not knowing the stories in those books since highlights were talked about throughout this book as well. The stories are interwined.
Adam and Calista were a powerful couple together. He was driven to protect the people he loved, even willing to sacrifice himself to achieve that result. Calista who thought she was weak was a very strong woman. She fought with everything in her to protect Adam and his daughter, Anna. She also provides strength to Adam even when he doesn’t realize he needs it. They fit each other perfectly.
I was initially kind of worried about this story being called “paranormal.” I think I was thinking it would have elements of fantasy. This story uses telepathy to assist Adam and Calista on their quest. The subject is taken seriously and is believable.
I definitely recommend In The Shadow Of Malice by Nancy C. Weeks. You will not be disappointed in the choice to read it.
A lot of family drama goes along with intrigue, mystery, secrets and romance in the fast-paced plot. From the get-go this book drew me in as I quickly became invested in the main characters. The author takes the reader on an amazing journey in this book and it’s one I didn’t want to end.

This book is the third in a series. I think it’s best to read the first books because there are a lot of backward references. That said, this book could be read and enjoyed on it’s own. Almost from the first few moments of the book, the accelerator is activated and the reader is pushed against the back of their seat. The story moves in a whiplash fashion and doesn’t let up until the end.
If you like books with a lot of action and family intrigue, this book is for you. I recommend this book because of the violence and brief sex acts.
Nancy C. Weeks writes a masterful suspense story in her latest Shadows and Light series book, In the Shadow of Malice. A rogue member of an East Europe crime syndicate, Ludis Vasnev, is out to kill Adam Blake and all his family if he has to in order to get the disc he is sure Adam’s mother handed off to Adam. That disc is very incriminating and Ludis wants it badly. The hero Adam Blake and heroine Calista Martin find themselves in much danger but Calista refuses to leave Adam no matter how much danger there is. Adam needs to protect Calista and all his family. I liked how tough Adam was and how determined Calista was. I was surprised to find out that Adam is really part of the McNeil family. The McNeils are featured in the first two books in the series. I found the psychic aspect of the story to be super interesting and it really enhanced the storyline.
Another “I couldn’t put it down” romantic suspense! It was supposed to just be a ride home from work between almost strangers . . .
