This book grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go till you’ve finished it! Great plot, realistic dialogue, and fascinating characters (flaws and all). Besides the superb writing, I appreciated that the love scenes WERE love scenes and not porn. I also appreciated that the author allowed our imagination to fill in the blanks of the psycho attack instead of making the reader a sick voyeur to its details. Brava, Ms. Weeks!
I loved the introduction of Sara and Jason. What a great Set of characters in this book they are well developed and engaging and have a very real connection. The storyline has lots of suspense and adventure, and kept me interested and thoroughly entertained from start to finish.

Surprising happenstance and unsettling mishaps, swirl with the formidable trials and challenging tribulations, spinning alongside the deadly twists and wicked turns, putting our characters through their paces, testing them in ways they could have never imagined. Shenanigans, escapades and mayhem rule the roost displaying the drama, turmoil, intrigue, abduction, danger, spiraling suspense and unnerving situations, along with a double dose of trouble with a side of sass, makes one intoxicating masterpiece. Blurred lines and crossed boundaries, expectations weighed and balanced, blasting this bad boy into the eye of the storm, breaking it down, launching it into a frenzy with a life-changing realization. The characters, banter, dialogue, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, blend and flow, transforming into genuinely charismatic personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and depictions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Amazing job Nancy, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
In the Shadow of Greed: Book 1 (Shadows and Light) is definitely a story about an intense romance. It is also a crime thriller with suspense at every corner. The McNeil brothers are quite a hot trio of law enforcement. Jason McNeil is the youngest, He finds his love in one Dr. Sarah Tu, whose sister Hannah he was not able to save from a serial killer. Through that case, Jason develops a connection with Hannah that is unbelievable, but not. Betrayal is at the heart of this story as much as greed. Through it all, the love shines through and conquers all. The McNeill family’s love for one another keeps them strong and bound tightly together. In turn, the siblings share that love with their spouses.
This book is a delightful, suspenseful romantic crime drama. It sets a high bar for the next book in the series. I look forward to it.

Sarah Tu, PhD and her best friend, her sister Hannah, were supposed to have a getaway together with friends. Sarah was working late and Hannah stayed home, waiting for Sarah to arrive. Instead, a man entered the house to rape and torture Hannah. Hannah spent the rest of her life in a facility. Sarah was followed one night while on her way to visit Hannah, and almost run off the road. Shortly thereafter, Sarah and Jason, the detective working on Hannah’s case, were both targets of bombings in their offices. This drew them together and they found that they were also romantically interested in each other.
Sarah is brilliant and working on top secret projects. Was she targeted because of her work? Who was behind the bombings? What did they want?
We find a diabolical genius who is pure evil. Also, guiding both Sarah and Jason, was Hannah, providing instructions postmortem.
There was a lot of action in this book. Also integral to the story is an abundance of suspense, intrigue and unbelievable acts of courage. While this a romance is part of the book, I think the reader who prefers more action, as opposed to romance would enjoy this book more.
An awesome story full of suspense, action, tension, and love. This fast-paced, page-turner grabs the reader’s attention from page one. The wonderful characters were well-developed and believable. The plot was engaging and suspenseful. I loved the wild ride that brings Sarah and Jason together. I look forward to more of the McNeil family
In the Shadow of Greed by Nancy C. Weeks is a well written story that will captivate you and keep you reading well into the night. Dr. Sarah Tu is a brilliant mathematician who becomes absorbed in her work projects to the point of neglecting her family, mostly her sister Hannah. After arriving late to meet her sister, Sarah finds that Hannah has been attached by a madman and is in a coma. Jason McNeil is investigating the attack. Jason finds himself in a strange situation because Hannah is communicating with him telepathically. This communication helps to form a bond with Sarah who is immersed in a project to disable a computer botnet. Danger, suspense, drama and romance all happen in this story that will have you wondering how much is possible when you are on the Internet!
I received an advance reader copy of this book and I always review every book that I read. I highly recommend this book. It will keep you reading to the very last page. Enjoy.
Get ready for an edge-of-your-seat, nail-biting suspenseful read! So much action and suspense! I could not put this book down. Sarah and Jason go through so much but thankfully come out in the end with a HEA. I loved getting to meet the McNeil family. I always enjoy reading about a close-knit, ever-caring family. I look forward to the next book, In the Shadow of Evil.
READERS, if you have never read anything by Nancy C. Weeks, I highly recommend you read this book. I absolutely loved this page turner that I couldn’t read fast enough. This book centers around Sarah and Jason, but Hanna plays an integral part. Hanna is actually who brings these two amazing characters together. After Hanna is brutally attacked, she falls into a coma. Jason is assigned to the case and Hanna communicates with him, as we find out during the reading of this book. Although Jason and Sarah are the main characters, we get to meet both of their families, which I can’t wait to read more abou, especially the McNeil brothers. I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say, you really shouldn’t pass this book by. If you want a book that will have you reading past your bedtime, this perfectly fits the bill. This book had me laughing in parts, crying in parts, cheering in parts, and smiling in other parts. If I could give this book more than five stars, I would. I CAN’T wait to read book two in this series. Grab your copy and get ready to fall in love with the McNeil brothers and this author’s work.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
This is the 1st book in the Shadows and Light series. This is another brilliant piece of writing from an exceptionally talented author.
She has you sitting on the edge of you seat with suspense, tissues boxes are a must be it for wiping your eyes from laughter or tears.
The characters are beautifully introduced to you, the chemistry is just electric. Throw in a bit of physic abilities, cyber crime, drama and you have an exciting book to read, mind you, you won’t be able to put it down. The story line has been very well researched and that alone is a credit to the writer.
I cant wait for the next exciting episode for this brilliant author. Thank you for allowing me to read this. I’m very grateful.
