I was living a lie. I couldn’t be caught in my deception, or my family and friends would abandon me. But my fears became reality and I was cast away as if I were garbage. Then this man, a stranger, took me home and showed me that love can take on many forms, that I’m not filled with sin or doomed to go to hell because I’m gay. He showed me that I’m not broken. I don’t need to be fixed. What I … I need is to be nurtured and cared for.
This man showed me that it’s okay to be his boy and to call him Daddy…
Seth was a good Christian son raised in a very conservative church.
He learned early on that the world is evil and filled with sinners—but the most horrible thing you can be is gay. When his shame is discovered, he’s shipped off to a special camp that fixes deviants like him. Years have passed since then, yet he still runs from himself every day.
Malcolm was a good Daddy for almost ten years before his boy died.
No longer daring to be too close with another man again, he’s avoided clubs and old friends that remind him of a life filled with a joy he can no longer have. Unable to find a purpose in his lonely existence, he spends night after night in a dive bar at the edge of town. However, witnessing a scared young man being harassed by two bullies jolts him out of his misery.
No one messes with someone vulnerable and helpless on his watch…
Note: In the Name of the Father is a full-length novel with angst and a slow burn romance between an older daddy and younger boy. You can expect lots of hurt/comfort, a daddy with some kinky tricks up his sleeve and a sweet HEA.
Possible triggers: Extreme past abuse involving both physical and emotional trauma.

I loved this “Daddy” comfort book. The whole trilogy is fabulous.
What a heart-wrenching story!
Morticia Knight lays the foundation for an incredible romance in the first book of her Father series. In the Name of the Father tells the heartbreaking story of Seth, who is attempting to escape the nightmare of his past and claim a life for himself. And Malcolm, a daddy who has tragically lost his boy to cancer, and has closed himself off to any possibility of a future with another man.
Delivering a very emotional performance, Nick J. Russo gives his all in the audio version of In the Name of the Father. As Malcolm grows to accept he can find love again, he shows Seth a world beyond his wildest imaginings. Mr. Russo’s expressive voice truly shows the journey both men are making, and I’m looking forward to hearing him narrate the rest of the books in the series.
Morticia Knight is crafting a powerful relationship between the two men, and I’m anxious to see where these intriguing characters go from here.
My first book by this author, but not my last! It was an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish but such a wonderfully written book you just had to read it cover to cover. We all hope that our family would love us and always be there for us no matter what…but sometimes sadly that doesn’t always happen. Growing up Seth’s life revolves around his families church and their beliefs, when they realize he is gay, they send Seth to therapy, because it is the only answer. Church camp is beyond horrible and when given a chance Seth runs away. On the run miles from his family and the possiblility of returning to that camp, Seth is working and just barely surving when he meets Malcolm, Malcolm has lost his partner and is not looking for someone new but he can’t help but offering a helping hand to Seth. Together they build a friendship that could lead to a relationship that has the possibility to heal their pasts and give them a life and love they both deserve if they are both willing to fight for it.
I am. . . .no, that’s not right.
I have a . . . .nope, not right either!
Okay, so!
I am a fan of Ms Knight’s Kiss of Leather books and the Sin City series. Her standalones ain’t too shabby either. The blurb for this book grabbed me, so I bought it and dived in.
And I came to a monumental revelation when reading this book and I feel so BAD that THIS book bares the brunt of that!
I have decided, I am NOT a fan of Daddy/boy books. I LOVE age gaps, I love BDSM books, I love one guy larger than the other, and I love the Dom being either the larger or smaller guy.
BUT
When they start calling him Daddy, I tend to switch off. I KNEW this was a Daddy book going in, it says so in the blurb, but this poor book seems to be the straw that broke me!
HOWEVER!!
If you can get past that bit, it is a bloody good book!
Seth was bought up in a religious household and when they found out he was gay, he was sent away to be “fixed”. That “fixing” was awful reading, it really was. You don’t get it in real time, just in Seth’s recollections and reactions to things Malcolm does or says, but still, it’s shocking that this still goes on.
Malcolm’s history is no less painful, he lost his boy ten years ago and has been alone ever since. Finding Seth alone in the bar being bullied, was the straw that broke HIM, and Seth falls very nicely into Malcom’s life, home, his bed and mostly importantly, his heart.
It’s very well told, with the emotional connection between Seth and Malcom growing much faster than the physical one, but I think HERE, it’s right and proper that it does.
I did enjoy it, Ms Knight, really I did but for the Daddy bit. Sorry!

**same worded review will appear elsewhere**
wonderful, captivating book with great characters and a pull-you-in premise. Highly recommended.
Awesome to the third power! The writer put dynamite into this story and blew my mind sky high! If ever there were two me that desperately needed each other it’s Malcolm and Seth, the main characters of Morticia Knight’s ‘In the Name of the Father’, Father series Book 1. We have one man who had suffered extreme physical and emotional abuse as a child raised in a very conservative church and one ‘daddy’ whose ‘boy’ died, leaving him sad and alone. He is catapulted into protector mode when he witnesses Seth being bullied. He soon discovers bullying is the least Seth has endured in his young life. Never had I been grateful for a writer’s trigger warning as Seth’s story unfolds. A story that leaves Malcolm determines to protect, nurture, and love Seth. How I pulled for these two. I’m particularly thrilled with the beautiful pace Morticia kept throughout this story. She allows the characters to grow towards one another in a way that is suitable for a daddy kink novel involving a character that had suffered as much as Seth. That had to be one of the best feats of writing this millennium! I am so pleased and impressed with this beginning of what could be a very beautiful story. Well done, Morticia Knight! Very well done, indeed!
I was given a free arc copy from the author for review.

4.5 stars
Seth cast away from his small town, Bible hugging, abusive family for being gay is living in a sketchy motel when he runs into Malcolm who offers him his spare bedroom for the night. Malcolm can see right away that Seth is poor and is a target for criminals and has an instant desire he can’t resist to help the young man even though he has sworn off getting close to anyone after losing his would of been husband. Seth suffers from internalized homophobia after years of abuse and mind control and yes a lot of what comes out of his mouth at first is horribly insulting but luckily Malcolm ignores it and one night letting Seth stay over turns into longer.
I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was well written and good character developement. I Iove both the MCs and thought they had great chemistry and made a great couple.
I did feel like both the declarations of love and the first sexual encounter was out of the blue. Like going from 0 to 60. It didnt feel realistic. Especially with both their hurtful pasts.
I would recommend it and I’m going to dive right into the next book.
3.5
This is the first book in the Father series.
This started out really slow, and took a while for me to get into the story.
Malcom meets Seth in his usual hangout, and saves him from two bullies. From the start he is attracted to him, but realizes that he has had a very hard upbringing, so treats him like a friend.
Malcom had moved on from finding another boy, and had given that part of his life up after losing his boy Everett ten years ago.
Seth is innocent, and because of his religious upbringing has been taught that being gay is a sin. He has been through conversion camps trying to cure him of being gay.
Some of their inner dialouge really annoyed me.
This is a slowburn and their romance takes time to develop.
Nick Russo has made this wonderful book come alive.
Malcolm and Seth are such great characters to be in with whilst reading but to hear Nick actually read it and give them an actual voice just seem so right.
The angst in Malcolm and the softness in Seth and Morticia words, I just can’t recommend this audio or book enough.
Can’t wait for the rest of the series.
In the Name of the Father by Morticia Knight is the first book in the Father series. This contemporary m/m romance features an age gap, Daddy/boy dynamics and the start of healing past scars/finding love after loss. Malcolm and Seth are great characters and I love them together. This is the first book in their story so I am excited to read more, but this book feels satisfying in its ending, no cliffhanger.
Seth’s backstory broke my heart and some of the topics that were covered in the book were very sensitive and hard but I thought that the author handled them really well. I loved that Malcom was patient and careful with Seth. The chemistry between them was amazing and I can’t wait to read the rest of their story.A very beautiful hurt/comfort love story.
A Beautiful and Powerful Love Story
This book took my breath away. The love story between Malcolm and Seth was gorgeous and powerful. Both men are broken and mired in grief: Malcolm for his partner who passed away too suddenly, and Seth from the extreme abuse he experienced growing up. When they meet, both men find salvation and healing with each other.
The Daddy kink was perfect in this book. Malcom was the epitome of a Daddy Dom – nurturing, protective, and head over heels for his boy. And Seth was just the sweetest boy – he needs his Daddy to function and feel whole. I adored their dynamic and loved the sex scenes between them.
Overall Rating: 5 Stars. The writing was gorgeous and the characters had me invested in their happiness. I love this story.
This is a very good story. It is sweet and angsty, a slow burn but when these two get together they ignite like a wildfire. My heart went out for Seth and all he endured. The story is about his abuse and though we do get some of it its not in graphic detail but enough to let us know his pain. Malcomb is a very nurturing man and has been through his share of pain.
The characters are amazing. The storyline interesting and keeps you wanting to read. I cannot wait to read the next one!
I enjoyed this story so much it was like sucking on a honeystick! Sweet and delicious!
If you like Daddy Kink, age gap, a second chance at life, and a sweet steamy romance this is for you!
In the name of the Father was a Phenomenal Book, I could not put it down. I read it within two days. The storyline about Malcolm and Seth will have you falling in love, even you crying at times. Morticia Knight is a genius when it comes to writing age gap books.
A Sweet Introduction to D/s
This is a wonderful romance in which a young virgin is taken in by an older man. They explore a new relationship with all the tentative moves to becoming a couple. Mistakes are made. Misunderstandings happen. But luckily an HEA is achieved.
When you’re at the right place, at the right time, good things can happen! Malcolm and Seth met just when they needed each other the most. The story is about their learning to trust enough to realize that fact. Malcolm’s loss and how he handled it is tragic. What Seth went through growing up was an abomination. Parents are supposed to love, care for, guide and nurture their children. Their journey is a rewarding read. Nicely done. I don’t like cliff hangers, but I’ll wait. I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.
Malcom loved Everett, thought his life was complete and then Everett died from cancer. Malcom couldn’t move on with his life for ten years. Then he meets Seth who’s father made him feel like he was evil for being gay. Malcom feels protective and wants to take care of Seth. I enjoyed this book . It’s different from other books I’ve read.
I received a free copy of this book. This is my honest and voluntary review
What an absolutely amazing story. I just couldn’t put it down. Two damaged souls. Malcolm is the older man still grieving the loss of his boy after ten years. Seth is the younger man so afraid and insecure due to his fanatical upbringing by his church. The storyline is excellent and I loved Malcolm and Seth. This boy needs his daddy as much as this daddy needs his boy. This was my first time reading anything by this author but not the last. A definite must read
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is an emotional, slow-burn MM romance with a daddy undertone & I enjoyed reading it although I will admit that I found it heartbreaking to read in some places. The story-line & plot is interesting, well-written & intriguing with unique characters with opposing personalities that continue to develop throughout the story-line to ultimately complement each other.
It is about: a man (Malcolm) with a memory of a lost love comes into contact with young man (Seth) with devastating memories of past abuse/torture & realizes he has found the “one” & will have to proceed with caution to win his heart.
There is: drama, some intrigue, mild twists, memories, abuse, hope, concern, fantasies, attractions, inner-turmoil, explanations, trust, declarations, contentment, love, happiness & a HFN ending. I look forward to future books with anticipation.
My heart was completely captured from the very first page of this beautiful, grab-you-by-the-feels, powerful, fascinating, fantastic, lovely, tender, charming, smoking hot, amazing, and totally awesome tale. Sean and Malcolm were just what the other one needed, no matter how hard they tried to fight the chemistry between them. I would DEFINITELY recommend getting this marvelous gem immediately!
