This was a nice, clean non-Christian book by Harlequin. Which is actually surprising for me. In the past, the few books I’ve read from them had me giggling at certain scenes. Or even better, reading them aloud to husband who told me to hush. Problem with that is that he thinks that ALL the books I read are like that. They aren’t.
Anyway, the story is really quite sweet and charming. The characters were likable and believable. I have not read any of the previous books in the series so I’m pleased to say that this is a standalone book. I could tell there were other romances along the way, but in no way, shape or form did I feel lost or confused. All the other characters just melded and were part of this story.
Now that I’ve read this book, I am definitely going to be seeking out the other books in this series. I’m intrigued to see how the other couples got together. Plus, I want to see what else Carol Ross has written.
Two thumbs up on this book!
I received a complimentary copy of this book or advanced reading copy, with no requirements for a positive review.
I really enjoyed this one. I loved the small town setting in Alaska. The could picture the beautiful landscape with the vivid descriptions. I really liked the characters and Iris’ family. I felt for Iris because she feels like odd man out when it comes to her adventurous family. She puts unnecessary expectations on herself, but she’s in for surprise in this book. Flynn is ready to make his move, but he may be a little too late. This book had a very unexpected twist that had the emotions flowing all over the place. This book is beautiful story with a little bit of heartbreak, but with an ending that warms the heart.
In the Doctor’s Arms is the 6th book in the Seasons of Alaska but even though I had not read the other books in the series, that certainly did not keep me from enjoying this one. I found it fairly easy to become familiar with the characters and the back story.
It was easy to love both Iris and Flynn and quickly get caught up in their storyline. I thought they were both relatable, their relationships with the other characters were natural as were their conversations. The descriptive writing by Ms. Ross made me feel like I was visiting Alaska and I could relate to Iris wanting to explore life outside of her town and making a life of her own. I share her dislike of the outdoors although for very different reasons.
The author penned a sweet story with well developed characters and she did it so well I want to read more of her work. If anyone is looking for a quick weekend read I highly recommend this one.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and was under no obligation to write a review. All opinions are my own.
In the Doctor’s Arms is the sixth installment from Carol Ross’s series, Seasons of Alaska. I have not read the previous books in the series and did not feel lost by not reading them. So, in my opinion, this book can be read as a stand alone. However, I would love to go and read them to see what had happened prior.
I enjoyed In the Doctor’s Arms. Iris and Flynn’s story is so sweet and heartwarming. I loved their chemistry together. I found myself giggling at some scenes. There was an element of suspense added to the plot that really made me want to find out what would happen on the following pages. I had no problem reading this book in one sitting.
I am giving In the Doctor’s Arms four and a half stars. I recommend it for readers who love a well written clean and sweet romance.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. This is how Iris and Flynn get together and what Iris has to overcome and deal with her fears as it turns out. The Alaska life and how the family and friends are there for each other.
In the Doctor’s Arms was a sweet and clean novel that dealt with many issues, including the lingering effects of bullying, the importance of family, the art of forgiveness, and much more. The author handled these issues while infusing plenty of lighthearted moments and a wonderful second chance romance into the story.
This novel is book six in the Seasons of Alaska series and I was impressed that I was able to jump right into this book without any confusion, even though I have not read any of the previous novels. There are many characters and family members in the story. It is clear that some of them have already had their happily ever after stories, while there are others who may get theirs in future books. Regardless, I was able to immerse myself into these characters’ lives and enjoy the people and the setting.
I liked these two main characters and it was interesting to get to know them in this book, while also learning what each of them had been like in high school. Their romance was very sweet.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
It’s always a pleasure to travel back to Rankins, Alaska with Carol Ross, and this trip was especially sweet! She presented us with a character who adores her family, but hates everything they stand for and finds herself feeling guilty and like she doesn’t belong because of it. She’s tried everything, but Iris is just a disaster and it drives her crazy. Reconnecting with Flynn has her opening her eyes to magical possibilities, but can they find the strength to overcome the adversity they are going to face? The setting was magical, the family ever-loving and the connection between these two was oh-so-sweet. I loved everything about Iris and Flynn’s story!
Iris James is back in her hometown in Alaska and everyone hopes it’s for good … except for her that is! She’s the youngest in a huge family of nature lovers, and she absolutely hates being outside among the things she’s terrible with. She’s looking forward to getting through her brother’s wedding and then hopefully getting the job she’s been dreaming of back in Washington, DC.
Doctor Flynn Ramsey stupidly let Iris get away back in high school when she had a crush on him, but during his studies and hard work to get him to this point in his career, he’s grown up and learned a lot about what’s truly important in life … and she’s it! He’s hoping to use this time together to convince her that she’s the one for him … only this job situation and finding out she hates Alaska is really screwing up his plans!
I have read a couple of Ms. Ross’s books and they have all been amazing. In the Doctor’s Arms was just that. It was funny, sweet, and you will need tissues. So very Heartwarming and heartbreaking.
All the books in this series stand alone.
Flynn and Iris have been friends for a long time.
But no she’s back in town for her brothers wedding. Flynn made a mistake once, and this time he’s going to show Iris what she means to him.
Iris James is only home temporarily, and that’s for her brothers wedding. She has some job opportunities ahead of her. But will Flynn change her mind?
See what happens and buy the book.
