Secrets.Lies.Betrayal.Murder.I’ve gotten away with it all, but that won’t last forever.I’m Bryce Chandler, FBI agent and member of the Circle of Justice, a covert organization that metes out retribution to those who’ve escaped the system without punishment. For the last year I’ve been deep undercover, doing unspeakable things to secure my place in the mafia world. These days I barely recognize … These days I barely recognize the man in the mirror, but Anthony Corsino is finally in my crosshairs.
He’s entrusted me with the one thing he loves most—his daughter, Layla. She was just another detail of the mission, until she was suddenly so much more. I never meant to fall for the enemy, but I couldn’t resist. I’m in too deep. My brothers are determined to get me out, but I can’t let them interfere. It’s my job to put down the target. However, when I do, I’ll lose the only woman I’ve ever loved and the only good thing left in my life. If I don’t, I’ll lose myself.

All of the Circle of Justice books can be read as stand-alone books, but if you have read the others, you will recognize Bryce from the sneak peeks you get in Aim. I absolutely recommend reading the other books as well as this one! You won’t regret it if you like a little suspense with your romance like I do.
Bryce Chandler is under cover with the Circle of Justice on a case that no one else thought they were able to infiltrate: the Corsino Mafia family. He began using the alias Bryce Collman. He used the Collman last name because of the reputation the Collman family had with the mafia in the past. Bryce knew his mission, and nothing would stop him from achieving his goal of killing Anthony Corsino, the head of the Corsino family. That is, until Layla rocks his world on its axis. As much as he wants to fight his feelings for her, he ends up losing that battle, epically. When someone is trying to kill Layla, Bryce puts his mission on hold to ensure her safety.
Layla is the daughter of a mob boss who keeps her in the dark to try and make her still believe he hung the moon for her. Yet as the chips begin to fall, the secrets start to come out. Daddy Dearest is no longer the wonderful man she believed him to be.
I enjoyed the fourth installment of LP Dover’s series Circle of Justice. Just like the others, In the Crossfires, did not disappoint with the action, suspense and the massive plot twist! The plot twist will have you questioning everything!! Once again LP Dover had me staying up until the wee hours of the morning just so I can find out what happens next.
I am impatiently waiting for the next installment in the Circle of Justice series!
This is the fourth book in the Circle of Justice series, and the action just keeps on coming. Bryce goes in deep with the mafia with the intent to take out one of the big fish that has been on their list for a while. When he does succeed, through a series of events Bryce ends up with Layla, the big fish’s daughter and in charge of keeping her safe. Now, Bryce knows in order to keep his cover safe, he needs to treat Layla like any other mission, but that proves hard. What happens when Bryce starts to fall for Layla? Will he be able to finish his mission or will his feelings get in the way?
Just like the other three, this was such a super action pack, suspenseful story. With the perfect amount of danger, mystery, and some ok naughty times. I give this 4 stars.
**********Contains Spoilers**********
I’ve read this book multiple times as well Armed & Dangerous Series as a whole but I’ve never actually gotten around to posting a review so here goes. I really enjoyed this book. Bryce is undercover with the Corsino Crime Family to take out the head of the family Anthony Corsino, as he’s gotten away with some truely horrible things. I really liked the connection between Bryce and Layla and their chemistry is off the charts. At the start of this book Bryce has been in New York for 3 months taking out guys who happen to be on the Circle of Justice’s hit list as he’s posing as Bryce Colman while being stealthily followed by members of the Corsino Family. He finally gets a meeting with Anthony Corsino, when during the meeting Anthony’s daughter Layla barges in his office saying that her uncle Michael has been taken so Anthony is ready to wage war on the other families to get him back but Bryce tells him that he’ll be able to find him using his skills which is how he gets his in with the family. Bryce and Layla feel a connection as soon as they locks eyes but she’s is also kind of scared of him as she doesn’t want anything to do with any guy that is part of the mafia as they’re all ruthless power hungry a*seholes and Bryce is there for a job and even if she isn’t like her dad, she’s still considered his enemy and a sure fire way to get himself k*lled. Anthony leaves Bryce with Layla together on more than one occasion which they both find odd as Anthony supposedly loves his daughter but would be okay to leave her with an unknown so he has to be up to something. I loved the friendship between Layla and Faith. Man, Layla really threw Bryce for a loop as he really wasn’t expecting her and then having to constantly lie to her would’ve been horrible. The mafia is completely f*cked up way to grow up in and be apart of, it’s completely twisted and hard to know who to trust, even people in your own family could st*b you in the back. I’m looking forward to reading Layla’s brother and Faith’s story in the new crossover series next. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to anyone who likes suspenseful, steamy romances with a HEA.
WOWSIE. I can’t believe I haven’t read any of the others. I love Romantic Suspense and this fulfilled my suspense loving heart. This is not my first LP Dover book…more like my 9th or 10th. She never disappoints and always leaves me wanting even more.
Bryce Chandler is deep undercover for the Circle of Justice, under the name Bryce Collman to his enemies. While in New York he gets the opportunity to meet with the elusive mob boss Anthony Corsino, who has been on the to be killed list for some time. Anthony needs Bryce’s help to find his brother Michael, who has mysteriously disappeared. Fearing the worst, Bryce finds information as to where Michael’s body may be found. After discovering it is Michael, Anthony decides that his daughter Layla will need extra protection. Layla was guarded by her uncle Michael and takes the news of his death to heart. Not wanting to be around other mob families and making pleasantries, she soon finds out Bryce will be her date.
While at the gala she runs into Julian Cartwright who has been after her for some time. Ruining any and every past possible relationship for Layla, she wants nothing to do with him. It also doesn’t help that Layla found out that Julian’s mother Penelope was given to the Cartwright family after one of her family members was held hostage for her hand in marriage. Layla is out on the dance floor dancing with Julian when all of a sudden, he falls down dead from a gunshot. When panic ensues who will make it out alive and who will leave in a body bag? Will the mob princess be able to fully love the assassin after finding out his order was to kill her dad?
This was the 4th book in the Circle of Justice series by L.P. Dover. You don’t have to read the others in order, but of course it helps with the timeline and knowing some of the back story. This was my first book in the series for me and I fared pretty good. Though I now want to go back and read what happened to Bryce’s other brothers. Bryce’s twin is Ian Chandler and his book is Aim. If you want suspense and not knowing who is really good and who is really bad then this is your book. I was fooled, I thought it was two other people who weren’t involved. I am also trying really hard not to give away the juicy details. If you like romantic suspense THIS IS YOUR BOOK!
“In the Crossfire” is the fourth book in the Circle of Justice series and it is the story of Bryce Chandler and Layla Corsino. Bryce is deep undercover and has been for a while, he goes by the name of Bryce Collman. He has been put in charge of protecting Layla, which kind of complicates things because she is the daughter of Anthony Corsino, who just happens to be his target. Bryce doesn’t mean to fall for the enemy, but talk about being in between a rock and a hard spot, wow.
This book is loaded with passion, romance, suspense, angst, friends and family. If you love suspenseful romance then you have to read this series. Each book can be read as a standalone but I bet you will want to read them all after you read one.
Five “lemon drop” stars for this one and I cannot wait for the next book in this series!!
This is the 4th book in the series and although it can be read as a standalone I would suggest reading all the books so that you get to enjoy all the characters and the series. I was so wrapped up in this book that I could not put it down.
What is worse than falling for the mafia’s daughter? being an FBI agent & falling for her!
Bryce & Layla will have you so wrapped up in their relationship that you will not want to put the book down.
Another great edition to the crossfire series. This time up was Bryce and Layla with lots of drama, suspense, romance, protective vibe and mafia mentality. Action packed and kinda sweet too.
Layla saw something she liked and she knew just how to get it.
That woman has some serious tenacity! I have always enjoyed a smart heroine and Layla is that and so much more.
Her father and brother have always kept her somewhat ‘protected’, oh she knew deep down the truth of her family business but chose not to acknowledge it. When push came to shove though she wasn’t about to be put on a shelf.
Claws extended she set out to get the truth and maybe a little something just for her while she was at it.
Bryce was undercover, finally, he was in a position to complete his objective. He had a plan in motion, easy in, easy out. That was until all heck broke loose. In a change of circumstances, Bryce finds himself fighting to protect the life of an innocent while simultaneously fighting his growing need for her.
These two were a perfect fit for each other. They clicked as a couple from that first moment. I really liked how Layla was the aggressor, it was fun to see the tables turned.
This was easy to follow with a solid story line that touched the edge of suspense without over the top scenes.
The chemistry between Bryce and Layla was the perfect mix of push and pull. Kept me entertained and rooting for Layla.
I read a comp copy and this was my first venture into this series. Will be reading more of it. The supporting cast is just as intriguing as well as at times a bit infuriating.
Suspense, mystery and deceit all wrapped up in one fantastic continuation of the circle of justice novels. The characters, the suspense, and all around theme will have you hook, line, and sinker.
This book was a much anticipated book of this series. The plot is one that will suck you in because the unknown. It keeps you sitting on the edge of your seat, making sure to hold on so you don’t fall off. The way the author weaves mystery, romance and all around romance into this book is epic!! The author continues the world of undercover agents and makes you longing for what is to come.
Bryce and Layla are constantly dancing around the unknown and mystery in their world. They both have secrets. They both are not giving all of themselves to each other. It is a constant dance of uncertainty between them. But, they get past it all and get exactly what they deserved in the end.
Wonderful story of second chances and overcoming obstacles.
What is a man supposed to do when he accidentally falls in love with the enemy? Bryce Chandler has found himself in this dilemma when he is sent undercover to take out the head of the Corsino mafia family. Meeting mafia princess Layla Corsino was never part of the plan but when it becomes obvious that Layla is in danger Bryce can’t walk away. Never having had a connection with a man this intense, Layla Corsino knows that she is going to do whatever it takes to get Bryce to love her even if it means they are both caught In the Crossfire.
In the Crossfire by L.P. Dover is a stand-alone book that is part of the Circle of Justice series. This is an action-packed story that is full of mafia crime, gorgeous FBI agents (two of which happen to be twins), and lots of wine. Like most mafia stories money flows freely and resources are not an issue for the characters involved, even the ones that are just humble government employees. The characters are a deep loving bunch in a calculating organized-crime sort of way. In the Crossfire is entertaining and sexy and a great 4-star summer read.
Bryce is an FBI agent and a member of “the circle of justice”, who is about to go undercover on a dangerous mission in order to get closer to his target who is a mafia boss. Layla is a mafia princess, who is under no illusion to whom her father is, but she does not know all of the terrible crimes he has done. This is a well written flawless story which is a definite must read, and is filled with twists, secrets, action, danger, and love. I was intrigued and hooked throughout, and highly recommend for all.
I have been waiting for Bryce’s story and I am so excited for his story, I loved hearing about him from the others as well as him appearing in the story. So I couldn’t wait to read his and it didn’t let me down, it was amazing. I fell in love with Bryce and his story.
I loved the set up and plot, it was very interesting. I loved the twists and turns that came with this plot. Many times during this I had the massive thought of this is not going to end well. All the way through the story I was thinking this won’t end well for Bryce or Layla. It kept me hooked and on the edge of the seat all the way through. It was amazing. I fell in love with the story and plot.

Wow. Now that was a roller coaster of a book. Secrets and deception. The mob again the FBI. Mob Princess and a FBI agent fall in low. This book had a lot of twists and turns !!Really good read!!!
Highly addictive!! This forth book in the Circle of Justice series can be read as a standalone as I did but I enjoyed it so much I now have to go back and read the first three!! Dover has always impressed me with their books and this one truly didn’t disappoint.
Bryce is a wonderfully dark and sexy character. He is well trained as a FBI agent and killer, undercover in one of the biggest mafia families in the city. He has one goal in mind and that is to take down the boss. But what he didn’t expect was the boss’s Layla who is was assigned to protect by the boss himself. He fell hard and now he doesn’t know how to manage it all. He is lost in a world that is all consuming on his soul and he now has a light in Layla to see him through but how can he take down her father and keep her? The twists and turn, the suspense and the emotions are on overdrive in this book and you will be completely lost in it.
I definitely think this book is a must read and you don’t have to read the whole series but I am wishing I had now. Very enjoyable!!!!
Whew!! I love LP Dover and In the Crossfire is perfect! It has everything!! Layla and Bryce are amazing – their connection was great! The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat – and the heat between the two characters was off the charts! Do NOT miss this one!! LOVED!! FIVE STARS!!
This is the first book from this series that I have read, and I will definitely be going back to read them. I loved following Bryce and Layla’s story with all the different twists and turns. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Even though I had not read the previous ones to this I could not resist this one because of the promise of what lay inside tempted me due to what I love to read. Having only read one other by this author I remember enjoying it so I ventured in with anticipation. Bryce is undercover so right away I know curiosity will begin plaguing me especially since of what he does do. He will also fall for the biggest thing ever or should I say it will bite him good with the form of part of his mission-Layla. You will be quickly paying close attention to this because you too want to know all the W’s. It will fill you with high energy thanks to the direction this goes along with heat to burn the path. This one is worth the read and not one to be put down while reading.
In the Crossfire has given me everything I love in a book. We have mystery, intrigue , slow burn, romance and steam! Bryce is a trained killer for the Circle of Justice under the guidance of the FBI . He has been undercover for a year in New York City infiltrating a mafia crime family the Corsinos. He is smart, calulated and skilled what he didn’t count on was Layla Corsino wiggling her way into his life! Layla is smart, sexy , spunky and full of surprises. She was born in to this family and certainly does not agree with many of their choices so when her father finds her in danger and appoints a man to protect her that she has never met things are about to get interesting . When Layla sees what she wants she will do her best to get it !! Loved her sass and determination .
This story has so many twist and turns that you may need to keep notes..lol. Get ready for a crazy ride and find yourself rooting for the good guys once you figure out who they all are !!!

Wow! What an another amazing read by L.P. Dover! Liked the characters and their chemistry. So much action! Lots of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat wanting me want to read more and more!
“It’s obvious I’m a target. I don’t want you being in the crossfire. It’s safer for you to be away from me.”
Most definitely a recommended read!
It’s hard not to get caught up in the Crossfire
L.P. Dover has written another intriguing book. How does FBI agent Bryce Chandler get caught up with Layla Corsino a mob bosses daughter? This book has excitement and several twists and turns. I was caught up in the story immediately. Pick up this book and get caught up in the excitement. I can’t wait to read more in this series.
