In the Company of Like-Minded Women explores the complexities of bonds between sisters and family at the start of the 20th century when women struggled to determine their future and the “New Woman” demanded an equal voice. Three sisters are reunited in 1901 Denver following a family rift many years before. Each sister faces critical decisions regarding love, work, and the strength of her … convictions. The success of Colorado women in gaining the right to vote in 1893–twenty-seven years before the passage of national suffrage–and their continued fight for women’s rights, provides the background as the story unfolds.

The characters were well developed. I felt like I knew each of them personally.
An interesting look at the sufferage movement from a grassroots perspective.
An inspirational story about strong women participating in the suffragette movement in Denver. The characters are non-traditional feminist women who support each other. The three sisters go through sister drama and come out the other side with greater love and appreciation for one another. The daughter of one has the opportunity to see wonderful modeling of what women can be. It’s a fun story about a period and place that I knew little about.
Very inspirational and informative?
Each of the characters offer insight and wisdom. While none are perfect, they are wonderfully human as they examine their convictions and have the courage to evolve. Truly, a delight to read.
Loved the historical perspective. Great strong women characters. Enjoyed the true references to the Denver, Boulder, and Colorado places and times.
I really enjoyed this book! It was a great period piece and I really enjoyed reading about Colorado during the late 1800s early 1900s!
Great characters, and a well-written story.
Strong female characters. A good read.
This was very entertaining. I read it in a couple of days.
Loved this book!
What a wonderful story of three women who are independent and their journey to rekindle their relationships with each other.
I thought this book was good, but a little rambling. I did enjoy the characters, but the last page was a great way to tie it all up. It just too long to get there.
A story about estranged sisters reconnecting in early 1900’s. Women had just gotten the right to vote in Colorado & Wyoming. Learn a bit of what life was like when women were just beginning to demand some independence.
A great reminder to appreciate the strong women who have gone before.
Good period story. Enjoyed it very much.
A wonderful read for women. About distant sisters, historical, very human, likable characters! Don’t miss it. Also interesting facts in women’s rights!
I liked the characters, but found things a bit too ‘neat & tidy’ at the end – loose ends tied up too predictably.
Enjoyed the characters. Left me wanting more about the sisters. Enjoyed the Colorado history. The women characters were well written. Each chapter was from a different characters viewpoint.
Interesting book of women at the turn of the century, their lives, and suffrage.
