Justice with a vengeanceSydney Rye is missing. All that’s left of her is a depression in the dirt and a pool of blood. Robert Maxim is ruthless, powerful, and determined to find her. April Madden is a preacher’s wife, and Sydney’s mother. She’s willing to risk everything…her sobriety, her marriage, even her faith, to hunt for her daughter. But they can’t find Sydney Rye if she doesn’t want to be … daughter.
But they can’t find Sydney Rye if she doesn’t want to be found.
ISIS has a new enemy, a ghost haunting their territory, infecting their flock with radical ideals. They will do anything to capture her. Their reign depends on this new prophet’s destruction.
Graffiti of a woman’s silhouette, set in a snarling wolf’s profile, appears in ISIS-controlled territory convincing Robert Maxim that Sydney Rye is alive. When women in the area begin attacking their abusers, he suspects Sydney is responsible. But Robert can’t believe she is involved after rumors claim a prophet, a weapon of God, has risen to free women from oppression.
April Madden hears the devil whispering to her; just one little cocktail to dull the pain. Instead of picking up a glass, she throws herself into a quest; track down her missing daughter, her only surviving child, and make amends. Traveling into the Islamic State is fraught with danger and thick with obstacles. April doesn’t have her daughter’s combat training or Blue, Sydney’s loyal, giant dog. But she does have her instincts, tenacity and the voice that whispers; your daughter is alive, don’t give up.

The Sydney Rye series has been downloaded over a million times. Recommended for adults who love brave female protagonists, dogs, and action packed series that you can’t put down until you’ve read them all. If you have trouble with the f-bomb, violence or sex (not graphic but out of wedlock).. then you shouldn’t start this series….it’s just not your thing.

5 stars for Emily Kimelman’s writing style. Haven’t read the series, but this was an entertaining, suspenseful read. Without her presence in the book, Sydney Rye is quite a phenomenon. Guess reading the series will explain that. I missed having closure for this book. Have to read next to see what becomes of this amazing woman.
Surprise ending!
Read the whole series before this one. It gives a whole different meaning to the events.
It was ok, somewhat boring
I have enjoyed the entire series of books Sidney and Gia books are great reads
I love the whole Sydney Rye series.
This was my least favorite of the Sydney Rye series.
the book was interesting as far as the examination of Sharia law; but unrealistic and hard to follow as far as the two main characters went. Ending left me dry and expecting more than a shallow intro for the next book
As Sydney Rye takes a step back, you learn more about the characters of Robert Maxim and Mulberry.
I like these books but I gave this one a low rating because main character Rye only shows up at the end and you have to buy next book to see what happens.
I enjoyed differentiation of characters and was somewhat believable.
Not my type of book.
However I like the earlier books in which the main character was more dominant to the action
I’m always happy when Sydney Rye appears. It’s amazing how quickly I was pulled into the book, remembering every word from the previous book and seamlessly getting into the action. Having come a long way from her Manhattan roots, Sydney is now fighting against the fundamentalism that totally controls women’s lives. The surprise is the steel backbone her mother develops, and we now know where Sydney gets hers! The politics behind the plot are real. I just wish there were women to fight as strongly as Sydney and the tribal women in her book can. The world would be a far better place.
Exciting from page 1 to the end, and leaves me gasping for the next one in the series. This is a heroine to make all others pale.
Excellent read. Good storyline. Good to read in one sitting.
Very different but great!!
It is a little mystical. Centers upon a dream someone has about a girl who should be dead and the wolf by her side.
Loved the book. I have read others in this series.
4i like the series, Sydney is a mess for good reason but always seems to get out of the jams she gets into. She like a real person, makes mistakes, gets lucky but muddles through somehow.
