Justice with a vengeanceSydney Rye is missing. All that’s left of her is a depression in the dirt and a pool of blood. Robert Maxim is ruthless, powerful, and determined to find her. April Madden is a preacher’s wife, and Sydney’s mother. She’s willing to risk everything…her sobriety, her marriage, even her faith, to hunt for her daughter. But they can’t find Sydney Rye if she doesn’t want to be … daughter.
But they can’t find Sydney Rye if she doesn’t want to be found.
ISIS has a new enemy, a ghost haunting their territory, infecting their flock with radical ideals. They will do anything to capture her. Their reign depends on this new prophet’s destruction.
Graffiti of a woman’s silhouette, set in a snarling wolf’s profile, appears in ISIS-controlled territory convincing Robert Maxim that Sydney Rye is alive. When women in the area begin attacking their abusers, he suspects Sydney is responsible. But Robert can’t believe she is involved after rumors claim a prophet, a weapon of God, has risen to free women from oppression.
April Madden hears the devil whispering to her; just one little cocktail to dull the pain. Instead of picking up a glass, she throws herself into a quest; track down her missing daughter, her only surviving child, and make amends. Traveling into the Islamic State is fraught with danger and thick with obstacles. April doesn’t have her daughter’s combat training or Blue, Sydney’s loyal, giant dog. But she does have her instincts, tenacity and the voice that whispers; your daughter is alive, don’t give up.

The Sydney Rye series has been downloaded over a million times. Recommended for adults who love brave female protagonists, dogs, and action packed series that you can’t put down until you’ve read them all. If you have trouble with the f-bomb, violence or sex (not graphic but out of wedlock).. then you shouldn’t start this series….it’s just not your thing.

I had been hoarding a bunch of the Sidney Rye novels and I decided that was foolish. I am binge reading the rest of the series and loving them. A strong female lead, fighting for right as she navigates her own life. Much stays the same, but much also changes and evolves, keeping these stories interesting instead of repetitive. I don’t put them down until done, unless my eyes cease to focus.
I don’t leave long reviews for Sydney Rye because I find Myself usually a emotional wreck after reading a book. This book like all the others takes you on a journey. I was worried about this story. It had some ups and downs but Emily knows how to tell a story that has you scared but wanting more. I was not disappointed at all. After 8 books how much more can Sydney get into? How much more do we need to learn? OH so much more. I found out stuff I didn’t know I needed. This book was a great one and left me wanting the next book. Great job
I enjoyed the storyline but was a little disappointed that Sydney was not involved in much of it. There were twists and turns, ups and downs and lots of searching. Definitely a great read!
While the book might have been a little confusing it was fairly fast and interesting. Most women are glad that we were not born into those cultures and it is always good to have people rise up if they are oppressed. I could have done without the details of Nadia’s enslavement, it was handled in a soft manner. By that I mean that the readers didn’t need any more info than they got about the sexual side of it.
I have mixed feelings about this book. Part of me wants to give 4stars because it was so action packed, I read it in one day!!! However, part of me wants to give it 3stars because it was pretty much about everyone else except my beloved Syd and Blue!!! So, I guess it’s a 3.5stars.
While I did like some of the back stories of the other characters, I would have loved to have known more about Syd and Blue and everything that was going on with them, which was apparently ALOT!!! With Syd on drugs again and Blue becoming a pops, why would the author keep us die hard fans in the dark like that. That makes no sense and, frankly, kind of irritating. She better have a good reason for that to be revealed later.
This was a very good book and having read other books by this author although not about this character I know I would read most of not all of her books. Her characters and story lines are so real.
Sydney Rye novels are always so good, you can really feel for this woman & what she’s been through & continues to go through, but deep down inside she really is just a wounded girl trying to do her best in this inhospitable world.
Very contemporary with believable characters. Can’t wait to read the next two.
Fun but too much fantasy.
Love this series. Anticipating the next one already.
This is a good series but the heroine is almost superhuman, kind of too good for belief. Otherwise an enjoyable series, I just liked the beginning when she wasn’t as sure of herself and made more mistakes.
I love this author!!
met my expectations
Was not as good as the first book very little of Sydne in it
Great books
Liked it.
Love this series
Anything Sydney Rye is interesting, action packed and fun to read!
Did not like the ending.
This is #9 in a series. Unfortunately I did not read the first 8. Coming in as I did the book is good but definitely frightening that this is still going on in the world today.
