She’s been hired to ghostwrite a CEO’s autobiography…
Yep, that CEO. The one who broke her heart.
When Kate’s agent gets her the job of writing Trent’s autobiography, she almost balks. The charismatic founder of his own outdoor clothing company dumped her when they were in college. But she needs the money.
Trent’s been so busy lately, he completely forgot he was supposed to be writing a book, … writing a book, and the draft is due soon. He wants Kate as the ghostwriter: she’s experienced, and she was always smart and hard-working. They can keep things professional, right?
In funny and touching ways, the project gives them a fresh perspective on the past, even prompting a road trip to Trent’s hometown that uncovers forgotten feelings. But will they both have the courage to start a new chapter in life?
This second chance romance includes a free Hallmark original recipe for Guacamole Grilled Chicken Club Sandwiches.

This was a sweet, clean romance that will warm your heart. When two people with a past are thrown together again, they struggle with their past while getting to know each other again. Old hurts can be hard to overcome, but a little work and patience may pay off. Have they changed enough to be able to make a relationship work now? Time will tell…
I’ll admit I really didn’t connect much with this book until more towards the end. The HEA was very good!
I received a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.
Wonderful, heartwarming read about a second chance romance. I loved this because it’s a billionaire romance with heart. Very sweet. It gave me all the warm fuzzies and almost made me want to go hiking. *wink* I especially loved that the heroine is a writer.
This is such a good book.
It’s an engaging & moving
second chance romance.
Kate, has always loved to read
& write. To pay the bills for now,
she is a ghostwriter.
When Kate is offered a job to
write a book for a new client,
she is stunned to learn it’s her
ex boyfriend, who she hasn’t
seen in many years.
Trent, is a CEO of an eco friendly
sportswear clothing line.
With the pressures of a deadline
for writing his memoir, his PR
hires a ghostwriter.
When Trent arrives to meet with
the person who will be writing his book, he is shocked to see who is standing there, waiting for him.
The question is, can they work
together or will their pass break-up
get in the way?
I loved everything about the story!!
I loved this! The characters were likeable and we didn’t have to wait a long time for the backstory to explain why things didn’t work out between them when they were younger. It was obvious from the beginning that they enjoyed each other’s company and had a flirty but friendly vibe going on. The ghostwriter storyline was unique in my reading experience and it was used with terrific effect for worldbuilding and to move the action forward. I wholeheartedly recommend it!
I voluntarily read an advanced review copy provided by the publisher and I offer my honest opinion in response.
Sometimes Love needs a second chance because it wasn’t ready the first time around…
Second chance romances are a delight to read. If two people are meant to be together, it’s Kate and Trent. In college 15 years ago, Kate and Trent were in a relationship that had all the possibilities to go to the next level. But they were both in different mindsets and they could not align. So they went their separate ways.
Kate is smart and savvy but lacks the confidence to make the final leap to put her unfinished novel out into the world. So she settles to become a successful ghostwriter. It is safe and comfortable and pays the bills. She is offered a ghostwriting assignment for the autobiography of a very successful CEO of a multi-million dollar company. She is super excited until she finds out who it is, Trent. Trent who dumped her in college to have adventures around the globe.
When Trent meets and realizes that Kate has been offered the task of doing his autobiography, he is taken aback. Not just with her beauty which is a given, but at how much she has changed since college. He has the dilemma of deciding whether it is a good idea for them to work together given their history. He also realizes he made the worst mistake in his life by letting her slip through his fingers.
I adored watching this couple baby step their way in getting to know each other through fresh eyes. Everyone deserves a chance to make their mistakes right. A true relationship is when two people who are not perfect refuse to give up on each other. A beautiful touching romance on giving a second chance to love again.
It’s been fifteen years since Kate saw Trent, and she still doesn’t know why he suddenly broke up with her on her college graduation day. Now in dire need of another ghostwriting job the last name she expects to see on her agents contract is Trent’s.
Trent has done whatever it took to make Get Outdoors Apparel one of the most successful companies in the world and in the process he’s given up his passion for all things outdoors. The book deal he signed for his memoirs is due in just weeks and he needs help; fast! Thankfully his assistant has found him a ghostwriter.
Cute story, and I wanted so badly for these two to figure out a way to work things out, yet it seems like Kate made all the concessions to suit Trent’s life, and helped him to see what he had given up, including her. But what sacrifice was Trent making for her? It was hard to see how these two would ultimately make a relationship work when their interests are so diverse.
I received an ARC and voluntarily offer this review.
If you love anything Hallmark, you will enjoy this clean romance about second chances.
Kate, a ghostwriter and Trent, founder of an outdoor clothing company, were sweethearts in college. But all that came to an abrupt stop when he left her.
Fifteen years later, Trent is a successful businessman. Busy with work totally forgetting he had promised to write an autobiography.
In comes a blast from his past, Kate.
Past hurts are hard to overcome, but as proximity seems to spark old flames, will they have a second chance at love, or was the first chance the only one they’ll have?
I was entrusted a copy of this book by the publisher. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
