Luke was my first love, my first kiss, my first everything. He always swore I was his reason to live but he lost himself in the army then I lost him.I never thought I could be with anyone after him, but I was.I never thought I’d go back to the small town where we grew up, but I did.Running back to my family as a thirty-year-old widow was never in my life plan. But for the sake of my children I … for the sake of my children I returned home to the memories I had fought so hard to leave behind.
What I didn’t know was that Luke was back too. With only one thing on his mind. Me.
But there is something he doesn’t know and our son can’t wait to tell him what he’s missed.
Our past brought us back together but if we can’t learn to trust each other again it will tear us apart.

I loved Nora’s books so I went back to her first and whoa mama! Nora can writing- I just love her flow, settings, building and development of characters, all of it! This book is all about second chances for a single mom and the love of her life, surrounded by her family.
Lily is such a strong woman, mother and we find out towards the end badass! Luke gets hurt in Afghanistan and breaks it off with Lily and we find out if he can stop running away.
I just loved this book and now can’t wait for more! Nora built not only a great setting for these future novels but all of the side characters I’m now hoping and wishing for with books!!
Overall, I give this 4.5 stars and 3.5 steams
Small town, second chance romance is right up my alley and In My Heart delivers a deliciously complicated romance invaded from every angle by hurtful memories and nosey well meaning family members. Lily is coming home with her small children to her family after tragically losing her husband. I admire her courage and keeping it together and upbeat for her adorable kids. Lily is a strong female lead and I really liked her through the whole book. Her family is enormous and I will admit having a little trouble keeping them all straight in my head. I enjoyed the openness and clear affection they all have for each other and their “adopted” family members as well. Luke being one of those adopted family members and lifelong bff turned boyfriend to Lily. Being an Army Ranger ended badly for him and he’s worked hard to get back to the old Luke. The romance was a slow burn that caught on fire while the couple navigate rebuilding their relationship. The story kept me involved with a bit of a mystery and action! My heart was warmed and I laughed at many scenes with the children. I am very interested in the next book about Lily’s twin sister Rose and what shenanigans the family get up to.
The first book in the Sweetbriar Hearts series a well written story with a great storyline. This is a new Author to me and it looks like this is a new Author. I will be watching to see if there is more to come in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Book 1 in the Sweetbriar Heart series by Nora Everly is wonderful. This is Lily and Luke’s story.
Luke has return to this small town to deal with some issues he’s recently faced. Lily lives in Sweetbrair raising her small son.
This wonderful small town romance Is about second chances, forgiveness, overcoming past mistakes and love.
Highly recommend
“In My Heart” is one of the most romantic books I have ever read and the perfect start to Ms. Everly’s new series, Sweetbriar Hearts. Luke and Lily were the perfect couple and life was good to them until tragedy struck and they were torn apart. Lily was heartbroken when her heartfelt letters to Luke were returned to her unopened. She wondered how she could possibly go on without him in her life, but she was certain that she would always love him.
Luke had many demons to slay before he would be worthy of Lily’s love again. The years they were apart were hard for both of them and he regretted how he had treated Lily the last time they were together. Luke missed so many special occasions with Lily that he could never get back. He would do anything to see Lily smiling at him like she did when they were younger. She was his angel, his soulmate and his better half and he prayed that she would give him a second chance. Now that he was home, had a job and was managing his nightmares, he knew it was time for him to man-up, grovel and beg for Lily’s forgiveness.
Great second chance love story.
Very emotional with heartbreak and steam between these two characters. I couldn’t put this book down once I started reading it. Tears can flow from the reader throughout this book. The love is overflowing. I absolutely loved this story.
This was a cute read. It started out great. I really liked the premise of the story, I liked the characters, I liked the big family aspect, I liked the mystery. But I must say that the story really began to drag about a third of the way through. There was a lot of back and forth between taking it slow and professing their love; I got bored with that. And I ended up skimming the last quarter of the book because, while I wanted to finish, I was tired of it.
That being said, I liked the writing and I think that Nora Everly has a lot of promise as a storyteller. I am interested in these characters, and I will look for the next book in the Sweetbriar Hearts series.
