From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Julie Ann Walker comes an epic story about sacrifice, friendship, and the awe-inspiring power of love.Maggie: Ten years ago, Cash Armstrong stole my heart. Then he promptly joined the army—dragging my best friend with him—and left me crying on the front porch in a red sequined prom dress. Now he’s back. They’re both back. Cash, the one who … he’s back. They’re both back. Cash, the one who still has my heart. And Luc, the one who saved my life.
Cash: How do you know if you’re at the end of the beginning or the beginning of the end? That’s what I’ve been trying to figure out since a traumatic brain injury made me “unfit to serve.” I’m back in New Orleans, and picking up the shattered pieces of my past means I must confront where my life’s journey began… and where it all might end.
Luc: Long ago, Maggie May was mine. Not mine in the way you might think. She was mine because she was my only friend. Then Cash came along and we became brothers by something stronger than blood. We became brothers by choice. When tragedy struck, I was forced to make a decision that changed all our lives. I thought, after ten years, it was safe to come back home. I was wrong…

As Luc, Maggie and Cash’s haunting story of friendship and love comes to a close, I am left stunned, gutted and practically speechless. There are just so many emotions bombarding me that I feel I am suffering sensory overload. I will say that nothing I read or thought while reading the first two books in this series left me in any way prepared me for the actual conclusion. Truly remarkable, amazing and not to be missed. I do suggest that: 1. You have a box of tissues at the ready, 2. You have a good supply of your preferred comfort food (or comfort beverage) of choice on hand and 3. You have freed up ample time to rest and recover from your emotional reading experience. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Phew, what a story this turned out to be! A week has passed since I finished volume 3 of the “In Moonlight and Memories” trilogy and my emotions are still all over the place. Cash, Maggie and Luc, their friendship and love are so fresh and real in my mind, they stuck with me and I suspect they will stay for a good while longer. I do need a break from reading for a while, just because I need more time to process, before I am “free” to take in another story. This, ladies, should tell you what an incredible trilogy this is. It’s not a light read, so be warned. You gotta be in the mood for it. But once you start reading, I promise, you’ll witness a truly epic love story.
The final volume of this fabulously told tale digs into your heart and doesn’t let go!
All the pieces of the mysterious puzzle come together in an amazing feat of master storytelling. The suspense that has been fueled throughout doesn’t just fizzle out – there is no anticlimax here!
So all the ‘i’s are dotted and the ‘t’s are crossed and there is most definitely an HEA… for some!!
Despite its three volume epicness, I didn’t feel that the story had been ‘padded out’. All content is relevant to the much bigger picture that is beautifully crafted over the three separate novels.
There is no question that the reader has to invest in all three books AND read them in order so although there are cliffhangers, you need not worry as all volumes will be released on the same day!!
An absolute MUST READ!!
The three volumes in Julie Ann Walker’s new trilogy In Moonlight and Memories are meant to be read together. The story flows seamlessly from one to another and together they are a complete whole. While I knew what was coming from the first sentence, it still wrecked me when we reached the inevitable conclusion. Told in alternating points of view (Cash, Maggie, and Luc) we see what all three of these characters are thinking and how they are all tied together. I felt in love with these characters, and the city that defines them. Be prepared with the extra-large box of tissues when you start book three, you’re going to need it. But keep reading, the end is worth it.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
In the final book of this trilogy, the reader finally sees the whole of Cash’s plan. It comes to fruition in a beautiful manner and the reader understands why Cash behaves the way he has. Luc and Maggie gain a deeper understanding of his motivation, and Cash gains a deeper understanding of the purpose of his life. Healing, redemption, forgiveness and truth abound in this volume and the author finds a way to get to the heart of what really matters in life and in love.
This book pulls at the reader’s heartstrings. Keep a box of tissues handy for parts of this story. Once again, the pacing is perfect, and the tension stays tight. Maggie’s friends and family really come through for her, Luc, and Cash in several different instances during this story.
This is a beautiful book, split into three volumes. Even the chapter counts continue on consecutively from one book to the next. This book has so much heart. It is well worth the read. Ms. Walker brings New Orleans to life in a way few authors can, and takes family, friendships, and love along for the ride as well!
The entire series is a melancholy tear jerker! I would never read anything so sad. Book three was a tear jerker and very realistic…. too realistic for me since I experienced something similar. I read this entire series without even knowing what it was about prior to starting it. Julie Ann Walker weaves a spellbinding tale which will make you feel just about every emotion possible. Its definitely an emotional roller coaster. It was a well written haunting read which left me feeling pretty shaken for more than a week.
I sit her stunned, slayed, and overcome with emotion. This book wraps up this epic saga, this story of characters who became my friends, became real, and who allowed me the privilege of coming along with them as they journeyed through this part of their story. They had a lot of life happen, and I was there with them. For the highs, for the lows, and for the memories and moments. Their story packed an emotional punch, and will stay with long after I have read it, and long after I write this
Luc, Maggie, and Cash make some big decisions. Luc finally is unable to stand for less, waiting on the side. He asks for what he wants, and push for want he needs. He is respectful, and willing to back away, but he needs some answers. The characters mature past their childhood in their relationships with each other, but the one thing they all hand onto, is the deep and true love and bond they share
This story concludes with a wealth and wave of emotions, and is truly beautiful for it all
I don’t think I can come up with the appropriate words for this final volume of an epic love story. I’m blown away by its power and intensity. Maggie, Cash and Luc are characters that you want to know. They are real, down to Earth, full of adventure and love for each other. Reading their story leaves an indelible mark that is to be treasured. Oh, and make sure the tissues are still close by, you are going to need them.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Heading into the final volume of this trilogy, I thought I was mostly prepared for what was to come. Man, did I lie to myself! I’m not even going to bother summing this one up, because if you haven’t read the first two by now… well, you’re missing out on what has turned out to be a surprisingly beautiful story about love and friendship. I won’t lie though. Keep the Kleenex handy. By the the time I finished this book, I was crying like nobody’s business and feeling rather bereft, yet I was also left with a sense of joy and hope for new beginnings.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I loved all the details about the place
Each book in this series got better and better.
First let me just say that, I am recommending this entire trilogy. The writing is amazing. The characters are captivating. The story is enthralling. I had to spread the books out a little due to money concerns but, will definitely read them all again straight through. And yes, this time I’ll have the Kleenexs closer at hand. Honestly, I could not put this last one down.
One of my favorite authors.
Amazing series.
All I can say about this story is WOW! This is a love story to the moon and so beyond. This is not just simply between a man and a woman, no to easy. Nor as simple as two men loving one woman… not even close. No, this is a story of a man loving his friends and they love him through all his memories and so much more.
This is a story that if you can handpick your family that is this trio. Now, Luc and Maggie met at fourteen and became fast friends just after she lost her parents in the hurricane. During a time when no one else could connect with her and her family was getting worried. This kind and gentle soul with an all-around kind heart was there for her.
At sixteen, Cash moves to town and steals Maggie’s heart. On prom night though senior year he leaves her on her auntie’s porch in her prom dress broken-hearted and Luc takes care of her. A couple of days later without warning the two boys both join the army then go radio silent on her. In this book, we do not find out why they left her behind and go off or radio silent.
Secrets of the past are revealed both Cash and Luc are trying to be selfless and give the other room to get together with Maggie if that is what she and he should want. Until finally Luc can’t take waiting and wanting her and declares his love and later gives her an ultimatum. Time for Maggie to grow up.
Most of the book, Cash can leave a bad taste in your mouth until you see what he is up against. Then, you start to see his edges aren’t so rough and his heart not so harden. You start to see a man who genuinely loves his friends and is trying to do the best he can. In the end that is all, he has them.
No matter what his faults they always have and always will forever love, Cash. I would say at about chapter ninety get a box of tissues. You will, in fact, need them out. I did not read the first two books in the dark on a few things but not badly. Still enjoyed.

I could not stop once I started each volume. The author caught me as soon as I read the first page. I have recommended this to all my “stay-at-home” book club
members. Read in order 1-3.
This Book should be made into a movie.
This is the 3rd book in a series that must be read in order as each book picks up directly were the previous one ends. Great story of friendship, love, and forgiveness. Well written and the characters are brought to life. Keep the tissues close by. I was glad I was alone reading this last book so I didn’t have to explain the tears running down my face as I was reading.
This book was amazing. It was an awesome conclusion to the story complete with heart ache, heart break, healing, some adventure and love, just so much love in every form.
I knew how the story was going to end but my heart still broke. I figured out Cash’s “plan” about halfway through the series and thought it was pretty clever.
Despite Maggie getting her HEA my heart still hurts at the end of this story, but that is the beauty of an amazing story it tugs on your heart and makes you feel all the emotions.
