Wynn family bonds bend but never break. . . . “Kelly Jamieson is an auto-buy for me.”—Carly Phillips JP Wynn: I admit, I’ve made some bad choices—on and off the ice. Now all I want to do is show my team I can control my emotions while I’m playing and redeem myself with my family, especially with my brother, Théo. I hate that I hurt him and I’m determined to stay out of trouble. But the hot … out of trouble.
But the hot bridesmaid at Théo’s wedding is tempting me into another bad decision.
A little flirting and a hook up with Taylor seem harmless . . . until Manny Martinez jumps me on the dance floor and starts beating the crap out of me.
And just like that I add one more bad decision to my résumé.
Taylor Hart: I always thought hockey players were hot. Now I think they’re crazy.
Manny broke my heart when he got traded to another team and left without even a goodbye.
Then he showed up at my best friend’s wedding. All I wanted to do was show Manny that I was over him.
And the groom’s sexy brother, JP, seemed more than willing to be my distraction.
But after the way everything went down, I want nothing to do with any of them.
Easier said than done. Especially when Lacey’s new brother-in-law is always around. . . .
And I keep thinking about the wedding night, when we snuck away to his room for the best sex of my life.

Kelly certainly knows how to give us a great sports romance filled with comedy and sizzle! I was very intrigued with JP in the first book. He was shall we say a player and a bit of a jerk but he has come to redeem himself and tell his story!! Taylor is sweet, smart , sexy and looking of just one night . She knows JP’s track history but that does not stop her when she is on a mission. I loved their story and also cathing a glimpse into all my favorite characters from the first book !!!
~~Michele McMullen ~~
I wasn’t sure if it would be possible for JP to redeem himself after steeling his brother’s girlfriend in book one, but he did! I enjoyed learning more about him and seeing how big his heart really is, his journey in finding love with Taylor. They definitely had chemistry but watching them grow and learn together was heart-warming. I honestly feel for JP right away. It took some time for me to really connect with Taylor, but in the end, she did win me over.
I thought this was a really good addition to the Wynn Hockey series and loved that JP and Theo were able to put the past behind them. I can’t wait to see what Kelly Jamieson has in store for us in the next book!
Known as the bad boy of hockey, JP Wynn has a temper and doesn’t always make the best choices. But, he’s determined to show both his family and his teammates he’s a different person now. A little flirting t at his brother’s rehearsal dinner with a gorgeous bridesmaid never hurt anyone, though, right? Wrong again!
Taylor Hart wasn’t looking for a hookup, but when one presented itself, she couldn’t say no to the sexy as sin best man. It also didn’t hurt that she could make the ex that ghosted her who also happened to be at the wedding a little jealous. But, when a fist fight breaks out, Taylor is out. But is she?
JP and Taylor are thrown together again and again since JP’s brother is married to Taylor’s best friend. And, the more time they spend together, the more the sparks fly and their friendship grows. But, can their friendship grow to be more than the one night stand it started as?
In It to Win It was a really sweet story. JP is the bad boy of hockey . . .but is he really? Once you know him, he’s really a great guy who needs to control his emotions better on and off the ice. He’s made bad decisions, but typically with good intentions and takes and keeps the blame and guilt on himself. Taylor is just a bundle of all around sweetness. She is experiencing a lot of major life changes which is causing her to doubt everything, including her core belief in love and relationships.
Together, this couple has a lot of ups and downs. I loved watching both of them learn and grow about themselves while falling for each other when neither really wanted to be in a relationship at all. I think what I loved best about this romance was the fact that it was an adorable pup that really brings JP and Taylor together and helps to cement their feelings for one another. Byron is the best!
It was a little tricky jumping into the Wynn family dynamics without reading book one, but the book and story were super enjoyable and was a fabulous romance. 4.5 stars!
This is the second book in the series about the extremely dysfunctional Wynn Family, a Hockey Dynasty. Fortunately, the author provides a family tree of sorts at the beginning to help keep all the characters straight. The first book was about Theo, how he rescued Lacey from Los Vegas, and brought her to California, where she pretended to be his girlfriend to throw in the face of his brother, PJ, who he and the entire family believed stole his previous girlfriend. But things are often not like them seemed, and it was PJ that was being used by said girlfriend. In the end, all worked out for the best, because Theo and Lacey fell in love and PJ and Theo have reconciled. However, PJ is still holding on to guilt for that and many other things that were never his fault, but he accepted the blame for.
The book starts with Theo and Lacey’s big wedding (they had already married in Los Vegas) and PJ lays eyes on Lacey’s friend, Taylor Hart, a speech language pathologist, who loves working with kids. They hit it off, but when Taylor tries to make a former boyfriend, Manny, jealous, Manny starts a fight with PJ (a typical Wynn gettogether) and she inexplicably gets mad at PJ. PJ has been working on himself and trying to be a better person and keep his temper in check, but part of his family doesn’t want to let him forget his mistakes, so gets angry at Taylor, thinking that he again was with someone else’s girl. PJ and Taylor are attracted to each other, but misunderstandings keep them apart, until a family crisis in Taylor’s family, leaves her convinced that forever love doesn’t exist, and her dream of love and a family is dead. Yet, she finds herself going to PJ for comfort. (He has also been keeping her dog Byron.) Then it is PJ’s turn to screw up, until Theo convinces him to get his head on straight and forgive himself. At first I did not like Taylor as she seemed irrational, but both characters grow and open themselves to love.
The author has created a fascinating family of characters that will take her through many books. The books are written in an entertaining and compelling voice, which makes them terrific reads. I’m looking forward to the next one.
I read an ARC from NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
JP is the bad boy of the Wynn family. His bad choices as affected not only is personal life but his career. He is determined to stay out of trouble. Then he meets Taylor, a bridesmaid at Theo’s wedding. Taylor knows about JP and his reputation. But that doesn’t stop her from hooking up with him at Theo and Lacey’s wedding. It also doesn’t stop her from being surprised when her ex attacks him during a dance. She has enough on her plate without having to deal with a bad boy. She is determined to avoid him. But fate won’t allow that. Taylor and JP are thrown into situations that require them to be together. Will they have their happily ever after? Or with JP’s temper and bad choices drive Taylor away?
I wasn’t too sure if I liked JP when the book started. He was cocky and he went after Taylor. When he got into the fight with Manny, I did an eye roll. It was typical of how he was portrayed in Play to Win. Then the author did something I wasn’t expected. She started turning JP into a character that I started to sympathized with. He was wracked with guilt over what happened between him and Theo. He was trying to keep his temper in check. His character growth throughout the book was amazing. By the end of the book, I loved him.
Taylor, on the other hand, I didn’t like. She used JP to make her ex jealous and then got mad when JP defended himself. She was judgey regarding him. There were parts of the book where I was eye rolling and thinking to myself “Seriously? What does he see in her?” I did feel bad for her when her parents separated. But when she snooped and had that confrontation with her mother, I was horrified. Her character had almost no growth throughout the book. I did think that JP could have done better than her, honestly.
Even though I didn’t like Taylor, I felt that she and JP had major sexual chemistry and sexual attraction. The scenes leading up to them having sex (at the beginning of the book) were smoldering. The quickie they had during the wedding was amazing. The author then cut the sex off and built up that sexual tension. Which made for an amazing sex scene when they finally went at it.
The end of In It to Win It was interesting. I liked how everything fell into place for JP and Taylor (even if I couldn’t stand them). The author did a great job of wrapping up their storyline as well as a couple of the secondary ones. I also liked how the author set up Everly and Wyatt’s story. Which I can’t wait to read!!
4.5 Stars
JP Wynn is the perennial hockey bad-boy and his penchant for fighting has him in a bit of hot water. Determined to stay out of trouble and turn things around, he really tries to make better choices. But bad just seems to follow this bad boy.
Taylor Hart was drawn into the hockey player circle through her friendship with Lacey, JP’s sister-in-law, but she’s put off a bit when the guy she’d been seeing gets traded and leaves her in the dust without a word. In comes JP Wynn, who sets her blood on fire but then screws everything up beginning with a brawl at a wedding, Taylor swears off all hockey players.
But the night JP and Taylor shared just isn’t forgotten and JP has it bad for Taylor. He’s persistent, I’ll give him that! She plays hard to get, but she really wants him too. A change in living arrangements and her dog help move their relationship forward.
Everyone is happy until JP’s new and better attitude is tested by Taylors ex again, and everything crashes down. It takes his brother Theo to knock some sense into him.
I enjoyed this second book in the Wynn hockey series from Kelly Jamieson. There’s something intriguing about this family that keeps me interested in this series. JP and Taylor were very good together, both in and out of the bedroom, and their conflicts are quickly resolved and it’s full steam ahead to the HEA. But the real magic in this series for me is the crazy family dynamic. Looking forward to more of the Wynn family!

Second book of Kelly Jamieson’s Wynn Hockey series is here 🙂 For the ones who are not familiar with the series, Wynn family is a hockey dynasty. The Wynn family is full of drama and all members of the family are involved with hockey one way or another. First book of the series was ‘Play to Win’ it was Theo and Lacey’s family and thanks to them we get to know the main characters in this book as well. This book is featuring Wynn family’s bad boy Jean Paul, aka JP, Wynn and Taylor Hart, best friend of Lacey.
I hated JP on the first book; because he stole his brother’s girlfriend and kept acting like a cocky asshole. However, after reading JP’s interaction with Lacey and Theo at the end of the first book, I start wondering if the bad boy persona is just a show he puts for the world to see. After the whole stealing his brother’s girlfriend debacle, he is determined to stay away from taken women and all the trouble that comes with it. However, thanks to Taylor and her ex Manny, this determination went down the drain on Theo and Lacey’s wedding. Even though, Taylor is not with Manny anymore when Manny attacks JP, everyone thinks ‘OMG! He did it again.’ He always takes responsibility for his bad behaviors and even though they always have reasoning behind his actions, nobody questions it. In everyone’s eyes it is always because JP is a bad boy. For the first in his life instead of his behavior, someone looks at the reasoning behind his actions. My heart ached for him because of the way he constantly beats himself up when he makes mistakes and he is the one, who cannot forgive himself. As for Taylor, she annoyed the shit out of me. The things she was going through is not easy but the way she acted was annoying in so many ways. They are a perfect match and it was amazing to see how they both grow through the book, realized their flaws and work on them. Of course, just like the first book there is a bit of a Wynn family drama as well but it was nice to see JP’s point of view on the issue, as well as family members.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. JP and Taylor’s story was captivating, heartwarming, sweet and sexy. I hope we will get a chance to see more of JP and Taylor in the future books. Also, since the first book I am really curious about Everly Wynn and guess what next book in the series ‘Win Big’ is Everly and sexy hockey player Wyatt Bell’s story. It will be release on October 1st and I cannot wait the get my hand on it 🙂
Would I recommend this book: Yes.
Would I re-read this book: Yes.
Would I read future books by this author: Yes.
J P Wynn is the person who the family calls the screw up. He has listened to it for so long that he actually believes it. What no one sees is the real J P. He is passionate about hockey and that drives how he treats people. You don’t get to mess with the ones he cares about. Enter Taylor Hart. She is a bridesmaid at Lacey & Theo’s wedding. From the moment they meet, sparks are flying. Taylor has a big heart. She works with kids who have speech problems. She is also trying to convince Lacey and everyone else that love and marriage are not for her. So she has put the one person who sets her soul on fire into the friend category. While J P is dog sitting Byron, Taylor’s four legged friend, they really get to know each other. Neither can admit that it is more till the Wynn family gets involved. You will love the ending!
Wonderful pro-sports, hockey, romance. The blurb gives the reader a good idea of what the story is about. Its more realistic because both of the characters are real with flaws. JP has a lot to live up to with a famous grandfather, brother, uncle and many other family members that all are part of hockey. Taylor is a sweet speech therapist who works mostly with children. She and JP are drawn to one another yet each have issues to deal with. The story gets emotional and even tho JP and Taylor care for each other both are afraid to love. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author.
Another great ‘Win’ for Kelly!!!
In It To Win It is the second book in the ‘Winn Hockey’ series by Kelly Jamieson. It focuses on Theo’s brother JP. (Theo starred with Lacey in book 1 Play To Win. If you haven’t read this yet, you should, preferably before book 2, but it’s not a vital requirement if you haven’t. These are stand-alone titles even though previous characters do show up.
Unlike his brother, who is the GM of the Condors, JP plays for the Golden Eagles. He’s been trapped with the moniker ‘bad boy of hockey’ and his family, due to his quick-fire temper and questionable decisions both on and off the field.
Taylor is a child speech therapist who loves her job, her life and her family. She is looking for a man to share all that love with. But, then she meets JP. They’re both attending Theo and Lacey’s wedding weekend. They share an undeniably and scorching hot chemistry that won’t be denied. Some seriously hot times between the sheets leads to JP being tossed in water almost as hot. JP hates being held to blame when he (for once) was the innocent party, all he did was fall for a sexy girl.
JP keep meeting up though, and eventually they decide to give a ‘fun time’ a go. Feelings creep into the mix though, as they always do, and JP finds it hard to juggle his professional life. Something has to give. JP is in need of some of that straight-talking he gave his brother not so long ago.
Will he listen?
I loved this story, it was a bit of a slow burner despite how it started, and I loved watching JP and Taylor develop a real relationship. Plus catching up with the Winns was fun too.
We also got a taster of the next couple and I can’t wait to see how Everly and Wyatt get together in Win Big, Book 3 coming soon.
This is the second book in the Wynn Hockey series. I haven’t read the first book yet. But I think it can be read as a standalone. I enjoyed JP and Taylor story. I thought these two were wonderful characters and had wonderful characters. It was easy to read and a age turner. This is a well written and romantic story. i look forward to reading more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thought and opinions are of my own. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this story.
What an amazing book! JP was amazing! I really loved Taylor too (even though she annoyed me at times)! They were a match made in book boyfriend heaven! Great chemistry and a wonderful story! LOVED!
My name is JP Wynn and I come from a hockey family. I’m trying to be a better person in my life, that includes my brother Theo, who I hurt badly. It also includes my team. I’m a hot head and have received countless penalties, so I need to get rid of my anger on the ice. You see my coach is my Father and the owner of the team is my grandfather. So now I’m at the rehearsal for my brother Theo’s wedding, and fortunately, he’s forgiven me and made me the best man. When I spot the maid of honor, I see the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever seen. So after the rehearsal dinner we hook up in my hotel room and I can’t believe my lucky stars. The next day is the wedding, and we are trying not to be so obvious around each other. As I hold her close in a dance, Manny, another hockey player from Nashville, jumps me and starts a fight. So I guess I’m still making bad mistakes, in my brother’s wedding!
Taylor Hart had her heart broken by a hockey player. Just when she thought they were moving forward, he leaves for another NHL team without a word. Meeting JP at her best friend’s wedding is great. The fact that he’s interested in her, is even better. When she sees that Manny was also invited to the wedding, Taylor wants him to see that she’s over him. So that didn’t turn out the way she wanted. He actually attacked JP and a fight broke out, at her best friend’s wedding! Leaving abruptly is all she can do and deciding never to see JP again, except that doesn’t work out either. Since she lives close to her best friend’s house, Taylor is always running into JP at their house. How can she move forward when she’s so attracted to him! Also, how can erase from her mind the best sex of her life!
As her other books, this is another hit for Kelly Jamieson!
As all her other books, this is another hit for Ms Jamieson.
I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Oh JP… how I love the bad boy, rule breaker, black sheep who has a heart of gold. I’m a big fan of the author, and when I first started this book I thought this was going to be the first book I’ve read of her’s that I wasn’t going to like. But as usual Kelly brings it!! Although there was insta-attraction, I loved the slow burn and build up, love sneaking under their defenses. I like that Taylor sees right through JP’s facade. She is strong, but her kindness is what really makes her character. Sunshine is a perfect nickname for her.
I really enjoy the Wynn family dynamics. I’m looking forward to more family dysfunction. And Kelly we NEED Uncle Mark and Grandpa Bob’s stories!!!!

This author certainly knows how to write sports romance especially hockey romance and In It to Win It was everything I have come to expect and so much more from the very talented Kelly Jamieson.
Taylor and JP met at a family wedding and the attraction was instant the chemistry sizzling then life got in the way, the timing was all wrong and nothing seemed to work. JP needed to get his life back under control before he could contemplate a relationship but Taylor was the perfect fun loving girl to get him back on track if she could only forget he was a hockey player…….
This is a book with all the feels, it’s about a couple that make mistakes, it has its fair share of sorrow but it also has a lot hope, it’s a romance built around family and friends and I loved every word, it captivated me from the first page to the last line and I’m excited to see where we go next in the Wynn hockey series.
This second Wynn Hockey romance gives us Taylor and JP, and comes with all the wit and fun that I always love about Kelly Jamieson’s books. That said, this one didn’t grab me like the author’s other books have. It was a bit repetitive and lagged at times, and I get that JP’s guilt was a big part of the story, but it got to be a little much after a while. Don’t get me wrong, the story is still good, I just didn’t get into this one like I was hoping or expecting. I think some of my problem lay with the romance. I just didn’t feel it with these two, at least for the first half of the book. Nevertheless, the story does have its shining moments, including a hilarious Christmas gathering, and JP and Taylor did eventually grow on me as a couple. We also get more of the whole Wynn clan, and that’s always good for some drama. So, while this may not be my favorite Kelly Jamieson book, it is certainly worth the read, and I look forward to whatever comes next for this crazy family.
Very fun read! JP Wynn come from a hockey family, he’s been skating on thin ice with his family, dating you brother’s girlfriend before she becomes an ex tend to shine it in the bad light. But in the last book, JP and his brother came to terms with it and began healing their relationship. Fast forward to his brother’s wedding, what was suppose to be a fun pre-wedding fling with the hot bridesmaids turned into a reception fiasco! Taylor didn’t want to be interested in another hockey player, especially since he ghosted her but JP’s charm just is too much to resist, after all what could one night hurt? Bother JP and Taylor have things to work through, neither wanting to commit but attraction can be a strong pull. I enjoyed JP’s flirting, and felt Taylor was a little high strung and quit to jump out of situations but I warmed up to her by the end of the book. Very entertaining, great characters and real LOL moments! Can’t wait for the next installment of the Wynns
Kelly Jamieson is one of those authors that I reach for automatically. Her latest book offering, In It to Win It, is an exciting read. This is the second book from the Wynn Hockey series and it can be enjoyed as a standalone.
Speech pathologist Taylor Hart and professional hockey player JP Wynn find love when they least expect it. They spend one passionate night together after attending the rehearsal dinner of Taylor’s best friend and JP’s brother. Due to miscommunications, they are unable to explore the electricity that surges between them. So they decide to be friends and overlook their attraction. Naturally, circumstances bring them closer together, and Taylor’s dog happens to be very helpful in evolving their relationship into a full blown romance.
Getting to know both Taylor and JP was fun and I especially enjoyed all the hockey action. Taylor’s parents present an interesting twist to the plot, while the Wynn hockey dynasty is one to be admired. Overall, a solid read.
Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.
JP and Taylor seem to have an instant connection. But they’ve both had past relationships that have left them jaded.
With the help of their friends, family and a crazy loveable dog, they might just find they’re forever.
I thoroughly enjoyed JP and Taylor’s story. Kelly Jamieson does not disappoint! 5 stars!!!
As a fan of sports-fueled romances I was immediately drawn to this book and its deliciously flawed hero. Add in an outspoken heroine and you get an emotional tug-of-war that will keep readers cheering this combustible couple on with every turn of the page. Though this book can definitely be read on its own, the anger and disappointments directed towards this hero will make more sense when you see where he and his family first had their falling out. Even if you don’t read the previous book you’ll still find yourself falling for this rough around the edges hero with a heart of gold.
JP Wynn has always struggled to get what he wants, always had to work a hundred times harder than his brother Theo to achieve his goals. It’s led to frustrations and bad choices from him and has him now seen as the black sheep of his family. After his most recent debacle with his brother’s girlfriend he’s feeling especially disappointed in himself and is in the process of trying to better himself. After fights on the ice led to suspensions he’s also training harder than ever to curb his temper and be the star player his team needs. He’s a work in progress when readers meet him, self-deprecating in admitting his faults and his harsh views of himself made me want to hug him a time or two. Yes, he’s made some mistakes, but not everything he feels guilt over was his fault. There were times he was his own worst enemy, taking on more of the blame so others could save face, and it was a reflection of how big his heart truly is. To the world he shows a fun and flirty side, but with family he always seemed to be making amends for something he feels guilty for and it infused each familial interaction with greater depth. When it came to love and sex it’s clear that his initial attraction to Taylor was of the erotic variety. He was looking for just a bit of fun, with the pages going up in flames each time they were together. More intense feelings slowly emerged the more they interacted with each other and it wasn’t until later on that I became fully invested in their pairing. JP might not have been seen as the perfect hero, but he was perfect in my eyes and a highlight of this story in my opinion.
Taylor Hart’s had a rough time of it lately too with having to move home due to financial issues, dealing with the changes in her parent’s lives, as well as her own sad dating life courtesy of a hockey player who broke her heart. It has her wanting to forget about everything, just enjoy her friend’s wedding, but the moment she locks eyes with JP her life will change irrevocably. It’s a combustible connection from the start between her and JP and it leads to a weekend full of erotic encounters that she saw as revenge towards her ex but that ends in a fistfight between JP and her angry ex. Seeing Taylor be so manipulative early on was very disappointing and it affected how I saw her throughout the rest of the story. Though I appreciated her seeing all the good in JP from the very start, I didn’t appreciate her using him and being angry at him for her ex’s behavior. Despite my issues with her Taylor’s still a strong-willed heroine with a crackling connection to JP, one teeming with sexual tension. She’s outspoken at times and gives as good as she gets in her interactions with JP. She’s got a small group of girlfriends, the closest being Theo’s new wife Lacey, and I enjoyed their playful scenes and strong support of each other. On a whole she was a good match for JP, but on my list of heroines there are others who left a more indelible mark.
This was a satisfying addition to the Wynn Hockey series and I enjoyed getting to see the family again and am especially pleased that Theo and JP got their brotherly vibe back as their scenes were extremely heartwarming due to their honesty. The balance between action on the ice and off was nicely done too as the hockey world was vividly depicted to make my pulse pound during games before putting a blush on my face during JP and Taylor’s sizzling encounters. These encounters were nicely spaced to keep them fresh and readers longing for more in a connection that built slowly while taking them both down a winding road to HEA. Along with a memorable main couple readers get to see an equally appealing cast of secondary characters that promise more sexy and sporty stories to come!
