OMG, I loved this book. This one isn’t the easy afternoon read. This one you need to give yourself plenty of time and a lot of quiet time to read this one. It is well written. This is the first Patricia D. Eddy book I have ever read but it will not be the last. I enjoyed reading this book it has lots of twists and turns. Since I don’t do spoilers you need to get this book to see those twists. I encourage you to get this book!!!
He’s the richest man in Boston. With a single look, he can have any woman he wants. Except her. Elizabeth won’t give him the time of day—except to tell him she’s so far out of his social circle, she might as well be from another planet. So once you navigate through the accounting babble the story line is interesting and the sex is hot, but for me it was the characters.
Alexander- Supposed to be a Dom, and is far from it, his personality is weak and placid, in fact he is almost submissive.
Elizabeth- Continues through out the book the notion that she is not used to his rich life as she is so poor, yet she was brought up in a rich household and talks about her lavish childhood. She is annoyingly needy and weak and clings to Alexander but keeps telling him she is strong and doesn’t need him.
I found this book more like a BD documentry, clinical and almost immature.
I think this is one of the best BDSM books out there. It is a mature and beautifully crafted story about a thirty something woman’s first experiences in the lifestyle with a sexy, sensative Dominant. Elizabeth and Alexander are characters that you want to meet and befriend. They are down to earth, considerate and passionate about their beliefs. The sex scenes are not tawdry and rough. They are careful, tasteful and sexy. Alexander is patient and attentive to Elizabeth as he guides her through her submissiveness.
The storyline surrounding Elizabeth and Alexander’s relationship is part of the obstacle in their lives. Elizabeth is in danger and Alexander is determined to protect her. It is a suspenseful and intriguing drama that is all consuming for the characters, especially Elizabeth who has concerns with falling in love with Alexander. She can’t completely get a handle on her feelings until whoever is trying to kill her is caught and her legal issues solved.
This is one of those books that stays with you after the last page. I totally recommend it!
This was a new to me author and I was definitely pleasantly surprised. What a great story. It was different from my normal reads/listens so I wanted to give it a try. It was sexy, exciting and romantic. The audible narration made this even better. Elena and Shane were perfect performing as Alexander and Elizabeth.
Great read!
Great read
A lot happened to this couple. I was disappointed in the rest of the series.
I really enjoyed my first read from Patricia D. Eddy. In His Silks is more than just your average D/s story. There is plenty of suspense and intrigue in this story as well. Superb steamy scenes (and I do mean superb). Elizabeth has misgivings about entering into a relationship with a super hot, rich British man. She’s been beaten down by past relationships and doesn’t see herself as others do…worthy of love, worthy of caring. She is strong, she has backbone…she couldn’t possibly be a sub. But Alexander sees a very different Elizabeth and his goal is to help her see how truly strong she is amidst all the chaos currently in her life. I look forward to more in this series.
I love the way that Elena Wolfe and Shane East narrate this book. They add so much to what is already a very good story.
I cannot begin to tell you how good this story is. It is beautifully written and the D/s elements are not some kind of add on, they flow within the story. I love the way Alexander treats her, just love it. So well written and to be honest I wish it were longer as I could stand to hear more about these two and how they carry on. Go listen to it/read it, it’s that good. Can I give it more than 5 stars?
This is the first book in the Restrained Series. It’s amazing how this author can write as well an erotic romance, a romantic suspense or a paranormal romance with equal success! I loved Elizabeth and Alexander’s story. They share an instant attraction and a strong chemistry. We can feel their attraction. I loved both main characters and also the secondary characters. This story is beautifully written, sexy, suspenseful and captivating. The story also is filled with consensual BDSM scenes well written. I love the ending. Now, I can’t wait for the next book in the Series. The narration is perfection! The author has made a wonderful choice with the narrators. I love Elena Wolfe’s voice, of course, and I absolutely love Shane East’s voice as well! Both suit perfectly this story. I have listened to this story in the Romance Package, but I have also purchased this audiobook to keep it. This story could be a great movie.
I loved this book! Alexander was so sweet and the story kept me on my toes and turning pages! Definitely recommend!
This was the first book of Patricia Eddy’s I’d ever read. I know enough about BDSM to understand the differences and I loved this book initially because the differences were treated tastefully and with just the right amount of narrative.
I found that her writing style appealed to me and have since read a couple of handfuls of her books, each just as good if not better than the last. This book, being the first, sticks in my head as having characters that were quite captivating. I loved that Alexander didn’t mince words and used lots of British slang which I loved. I used to joke, thanks to an ex, that I was part British, so all of those blasted comments did not phase me.
I’ve read reviews of this book, somet before I ever saw a word of it, that said they were disappointed in the BDSM in the book. Please understand that one good thing about BDSM is that it is different for each person that is involved in it. For some it is like Alexander, who keeps his kink in the bedroom. And for others, it is like his brother Nicholas, who lives it daily. Seeing those differences in the two brothers was interesting, and I compliment Ms. Eddy for a job well done. It is not often that people understand the minutae that populates kink well enough to cite the differences without being judgmental. I was pleased to see that Alexander acted like a true Dom and not just some dominant male pretending he was something he isn’t. Protective, strong, loving – those are the characters of a Dom. And his actions, because he is NOT a Master, are confined to the bedroom (I know the difference). And Elizabeth is a dream – strong, opinionated, wth a backbone – the perfect sub for him. AND, the story has a cat in it, which means I am totally enamored now.
I read an ARC of this book through Hidden Gems, but would have purchased it anyway had I been aware of it. Funnily enough I now have it on my Kindle AND have borrowed it on KU when I forget I own it. smh Thank you Patricia D. Eddy for a wonderful story. I can’t wait to see what else you’ve come up with.
Do you like/read 50 Shades of Grey? If so, then you will LOVE In His Silks because it is sooo much better. Yes the man is a billionaire, and yes the woman is unsure of what she wants at first and this story does involve BDSM, but thats where it stops being the same. In His Silks is all about Sane, Safe and Consensual control in the bedroom. Alexander Fairhaven makes sure to repeat the fact that Elizabeth Bennett can use her safeword whenever she wants (and even encourages her to do so!) and constantly asks her if she is okay and wants to go further during the Scenes. Other than the bedroom, Elizabeth is given control of all other aspects of her life and the support from Alexander to be independent. Besides the steamy BDSM scenes, the story is full of life, and immediately pulls you in. I finished this book in a matter of hours. Fully recommend this for those interested in erotic/bdsm-themed stories.
Elizabeth and Alexander will take your breath away with their heartstopping fantastically thrilling roller coaster ride. Elizabeth is not having herself a banner day – her bosses seem to believe that she somehow monumentally screwed up on her clients taxes even though she knows that is 100% BS and in a total CYA move they fired her. So that’s how she finds herself walking in the rain with all her things in that sad box they give you when you get sacked… but then world throws her a lifeline in the form of Alexander Fairhaven. When the cities most handsome dashing billionaire scoops her out of rain in oh such a chivalrous way, Elizabeth is not really sure what to make of it. Men like him date sophisticated woman of certain tier of women, not woman like her with her pitiful bankbook and goodwill duds. Even more pressing of a concern is the fact that it appears there may be more to her getting the boot from her job at CPH than meets the eye. The more she looks and digs the more it looks like her former bosses were involved in a a widespread embezzlement scam that they are trying to use her as they scapegoat for. Alexander could just tell from the moment he saw Elizabeth standing in the rain that she was something special. It was kismet and from then on perusing her was not only a given but vital. She is beautiful sure which frankly he can get anywhere – but what really has him so enamoured is her spirit. She is smart, driven and has fire that he wants beside him in the world – and under him in the bedroom. His need to make her is Sub is driven by her desire to have a Dom. She is resistant as she doesn’t realize that being a Sub is not about giving up power but rather exchanging it for pleasure beyond measure. When Alexander learns of the problems facing her from her previous employer he is enraged especially when it begins to threaten her and he will do anything to protect her. They are partners through and through and to find a way to their HEA they will need to work together.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.
Great writing and wonderfully crafted characters. Super hot chemistry!
This is clearly a Contemporary Romance with intrigue and a touch of BDSM in it. Most importantly, it was a fantasy story, there is no question about it in my mind.
Elizabeth Bennett worked with numbers and a have a photographic memory, not a good combination when your employers are not exactly good people. She , as a character, was consistent, interesting, strong even with the things that happen to her. She also have self-love issues that annoyed me a little bit.
Alexander Fairhaven was a very wealthy man with a company that he runs with his brother Nicholas. He is also a Dom and Nicholas is a Master, or that’s how they label themselves in this story. As a character Alexander never left anything in doubt for me, not only because he was an alpha male, but also because he was consistent in his behaviour.
I enjoyed reading this book. The time-line was so good that I didn’t even notice I’ve spent hours reading in bed. Of course I had a headache and my eyes hurt later *laughs*
Some say you learn something new everyday. I’ll say I didn’t knew about silk play in BDSM before this book. I know for sure I haven’t read any book so far that includes it and the curiosity made me research a little bit.
The writing of this story was well done. I had no problems with the language even though there was quite a lot of accountancy related terms, all were well explained and easily understood by context. I doesn’t help that I’m studying to be an accountant.
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book provided by Hidden Gems*

I couldn’t put this book down!! Did a binge read and didn’t sleep. Loved the suspense. But mostly loved how Alexander and Elizabeth interacted with each other, SO HOT!!!
I loved this book.
