Then it happened.
One drink led to two, and the way he looked at me told me everything I ever needed.
I wasn’t imagining things. He felt the same way.
He didn’t stop me when I gathered my courage and told him how I felt. He didn’t stop me when I kissed him and he kissed me back.

In His Kiss by Ava Alise is book one of The Unrequited Series. This is a best friend to lovers book.
Jordan and Xia have been friends forever it seems until one night things go beyond the line of friendship. Xia is thrilled because she finally got the courage to tell Jordan how she feels. That is until he claims what a mistake they made. Now they have to try to maneuver uncharted territory. Will they be able to navigate these new waters they find themselves in?
This book was a good read. There was just a bit of angst, some emotion and drama to tie it all together. Jordan and Xia were great characters and I enjoyed following their story! I can’t wait for book two!
I have to say I love when I find a new author like Ava Alise and I am blown away by their writing. In His Kiss was more than I was expecting, these characters had me glued to the pages and holding my breath to see what was going to happen next.
Jordan and Xia have been best friends for years but one night something changed, was this change good or just a mistake? But if two people have been holding on to feelings for one another, is it a mistake?
Jordan and Xia were meant to be together, these two were in sync and you could tell there was love between them. I’m looking forward to getting to know their friends more in their books.
I received a copy of this for an honest review!
This was my first Ava Alise book and I really liked it. Yes, some things were predictable, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t good. I love the friends to lovers trope and this one was no exception. And the secondary characters were also very well done. I can’t wait to read their books.
I will be honest, there were a couple of times that I wanted to throw my Kindle when reading this. Her dad made me so mad I wanted to scream. His secrets weren’t good for anyone. And Jordan’s ex was definitely over the top! Like get a clue honey! Anyways, this was a sweet book and can’t wait to read more from this world!
I love a great friends-to-lovers book and In His Kiss is no exception. Jordan and Xia have been best friends their entire lives and have both been secretly in love with each other, but it’s not until a drunken night in college that the get together. There are twists and turns, and emotional turmoil, but they have a solid base of friendship that will get them through anything, as long as their together. I thought their relationship was so sweet.
Wow what amazing read. This is amazing read that will suck you in tell the very end.
This book has all the right stuff; awesome story, interesting characters, heat, humour and emotion and lets not forget romance. I have to say this book has some sexy moments, drama and great chemistry that made me not want to put this down. A totally entertaining and enjoyable read by a new author to me. Definitely be looking for more books by this author. Happy reading everyone!! 4 1/2 stars
I wasn’t sure which direction to take with this review. At first the book was like trudging through thick mud…it felt a bit slow and drawn out…not quite getting to the point. The characters were extremely frustrating and I constantly cursed at them, but after 80% things start to become clearer and add up. A bit too much drama but life can be unexpected that way…
First off I must say that I love everything that Ava Alise writes. All her books gave amazing characters and storylines that fill your heart. In His Kiss is such a wonderful and sweet story to read. It has the humour I am so use to from Ava’s writings as well as some emotional moments that pull at the heart strings!!!
Jordan and Xia have been best friends forever until they weren’t anymore. They took it one step further and it was epic. Their story however is not always easy but they are always there for each other and the love between them is beautiful.
I loved the side stories in this book also. The supportive characters always add to Ava’s stories and I am super excited to read more about King!!!!
A definite must read!! 5 stars all the way!!!!
Jordan and Xia’s story is amazing! I am so in love! One of my favorite troupes is friends-to-lovers and this one is spot on! I was not able to put this book down! From beginning to end this book is perfect!!
Things to absolutely love about this book!
Friend-to-lovers
Sexy dirty talking hero
Gorgeous inside and out, feisty heroine
Well developed extremely interesting cast of characters
Plot twists you don’t see coming
New Adult romance that actually admits real life difficult adult things happen to people
Mental Health dealt with in a realistic, sympathetic way
Characters who believe in God but aren’t preachy or holier than thou
Minority heroine
Seriously I could add several dozen other things to love about this book but that’s the big ones. In His Kiss was a rollercoaster of emotions I laughed,I ugly cried, and I had all the warm feels. By the HEA I was practically cheating in glee for Jordan and Xia. This is a new adult romance set in college. My biggest pet peeves with college romances is when they get involved in the drama of being 20-something and fail to register the real world. In His Kiss is don’t that book! In stead it’s an extremely well developed look at friendship, family, love, death, and must more. YOU. WILL. UGLY. CRY! There are some very heavy topics in the story death of a parent, loss of a spouse, cheating, loss of a child. I don’t want to spoil the story but all the characters suffer and come out stronger because of it. Jordan and Xia face normal 20-something issues classes, landing a job, taking a leap of faith with a relationship. They also deal with stressors that aren’t as common but still very real to life. This story is worth the struggle of the ride. You won’t see the twists coming. I can’t wait to read about the other characters in this world! And the sexiness, OMG, Jordan! Seriously just read. You need tissues and a safe place because it’s pretty dang hot at times! If I could give it more than five stars I would! #newrelease
Author Ava Alise offers an emotional story of unrequited love between best friends with In His Kiss. Xia and Jordan were inseparable during childhood, growing up right across the street from one another. They supported each other through thick and thin, and even attended the same college, even though they are a couple of years a part in age.
Although they were a bit intoxicated during their first sexual encounter, their feelings for each other were front and center. Overtime, their initial discomfort evolves from platonic into a a full-blown romance. In addition, their respective relationships with their parents and friends, take on a more mature role, while Xia and Jordan come to terms with their new normal.
I enjoyed this book. Xia and Jordan deal with a lot in their young adult lives and handle it with great care. Their sexy times are hot. Ms. Alise is an emotional writer, and her characters are truly genuine and easy to get to know. This is the first book from The Unrequited Series and it can be read as a standalone. The epilogue not only wraps up Xia and Jordan’s story, but it provides a look into Kings life (one of Jordan’s best friends), and it is quite surprising in a clever way. I am truly looking forward to the next book in the series.

Xia and Jordan are best friends. They know each other better than anyone. One night they take things too far and have to decide if they should give a different relationship a try or move on and stay friends. I like both of the characters. They are both level headed and driven. They also have a great group of friends which helps build the story. The book is fun to read and has a lot of little dramas that keep the book moving.
The book also dives into a lot of different topics affecting a lot of people. I like the message the author was conveying by bringing relevant topics to the forefront. Lastly, the author wraps up the story with an epilogue through King’s eyes. King is one of the friends. This epilogue starts the beginning of his story which will be another book.
You know those books you start to read, and you want to devour them? Well this was another one of those for me. I couldn´t put it down and it was so good. This is not the typical story, “I love you but in secret and I have to watch you love someone else” believe me when I tell you that you want to dive in this one with any thoughts, it is really amazing!!
Xia and Jordan have known each other since diapers, they know everything about each other, and with time there was an unspoken agreement, they are friends, best friends in fact and they know that crossing that line might put in risk their friendship and lose the most important person, so times go by and neither of them speak about it. Until one night things got out of control and they both said things that wanted to scream since a long time ago and after that, things are not the same so, what if both take a chance and just dive even if there’s nothing sure?
Well this was a fast reding and my first book by Ava Alise, and now I can say OMAIGAD that ending, was mind blowing, I truly cannot wait for the next book that Ava has planned for us!!!
Xia and Jordan pulled me in right from the start. Best friends who one night take it a step further and than things get complicated, emotional, messy, and heartbreaking. Each page takes you along with their story of trying to find if they both want more or to remain just friends. An amazing read and I can’t wait to read the next one.
Ava is a new to me author, so I was going in to this experience blind, except knowing that In his Kiss is a friends-to-lovers story. Ava’s writing and story telling was addicting. I couldn’t stop reading, and was happily finishing this story in one sitting.
Jordan and Xia dont get alot of friend time as they are quickly thrust into a series of drunkenness, badly worded conversations, awkward situations and a few extra bumps along the road that one has come to expect with a University Romance or friends to lover romance, that could’ve ruined everything, however in true HEA fashion, communication is key, and it truly is an adorably good read.
Jordan and Xia have been friends forever, but only friends. Until it changes one night. Will they be able to maintain a relationship, or even their friendship now that they took that step?
I really liked In His Kiss. It’s a little bit angsty, it’s sexy, and both Xia and Jordan, especially Xia, are likable characters. Writing friends to lovers can be tough, and sometimes the angst is overwhelming in this trope, sometimes best friends suddenly act like they don’t even know each other, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that Ava had enough restraint to not go overboard on the angst or the teenaged emotions that moving beyond friends can bring out in people. I will definitely be on the lookout for more from Ava now.
OMFG!!! JUST WOW!! IN HIS KISS by Ava Alise is OUTSTANDINGLY BEAUTIFUL!! Such an Suspenseful Epic Best Friend to Lover’s story that will Leave you hanging and wanna know what is going to happen next!! Xia and Jordan’s storytelling was Beautifully Written with TWISTS and TURNS INTO the UNKNOWN that will Have your Jaw Dropping several times!!
Definitely a Must Read Book and never a Dull moment page after page since I devoured it in ONE Sitting!!
Ava Alise has a Way with her words and Passion in each of her Books so if you haven’t Read her work…WTF are you Waiting for!!
The well written storyline and the well defined characters captured my attention from the very beginning and the interaction between Jordan and Xia kept me turning the pages until the very last page!
Best friends for most of their lives, Jordan and Xia have never crossed that line between just friends and more. Xia has been in love with Jordan since high school, but never did or said anything as she doesn’t want to lose her best friend. Jordan is late to the party so to speak, and when he finally realizes that he feels more for Xia, its already too late. One night, one night filled with alcohol, one night where they let their problems go, to wake up in the morning with one of them saying “It was a mistake”. How do best friends come back from something like that?
This was just an ok friends to lovers story. TBH I was more interested in the side plot that was going on than what was up with Jordan and Xia… and there was a lot going on with Jordan and Xia. This had loads of drama, a bit over the top, cup runneth over type of thing; and I wasn’t even focused on the two. Glad we did get what was up with the one situation, cuz I was super all up in that plot line, (insert shrug) her parents were more interesting! I give this 3 stars.
Jordan and Xia have been friends for a long time, and they made the decision early on to never cross the line between friendship and more to protect the bond they had. But somewhere along the way the lines between them started to become blurred, secret crushes took hold, and feelings started to join the mix.
But they still tried to maintain their just friends rule… that is until one night after too many drinks and a little liquid courage!
In His Kiss is an emotional friends to lovers story that will give your heartstrings a nice little tug. A friendship between these two was destined to happen, being neighbors and constantly radiating around one another in the same circles, it was bound to happen. At first it was a simple friendship, one where they could count on one another for advice and a shoulder to lean on, but then something shifted between them, and feelings started to grow. But neither were willing to admit how they felt, which pretty much spelled disaster, when they all came to light. Watching these two try to maneuver through uncharted territory and take their relationship down this new path was emotional and trying at times, but good on the heart nonetheless. I really enjoyed this one, it had sweet moments to bring smiles, emotional moments to squeeze the heart, and dramatic moments to keep my eyes glued to the pages… it was a perfect little escape! Highly recommend!
