In His Kiss is book one in the Unrequited series by Ava Alise. This author is new to me and I was really excited to find out what her style was. And this genre is one of my favourites, so sinking into this story was bliss. I love nothing more than to read a romance where the characters are best friends and discovering these feelings they have for each other. Then all the emotions that come with it. There is the realisation. The denial. The resistance. The struggling. The fighting. The acceptance. The contentment. The belonging. The happy ending. In His Kiss had all the elements of a fantastic romance. The attraction and connection that existed between the characters was decadent, and the evolution of their love story was captivating, stimulating and impressive. New authors bring new writing styles and stamp their own signature on the genre. And I cannot get enough. A brilliant and well presented story that has me craving more. 5 stars.
Beautiful start to this series. I was captivated from the very beginning. I love a friends to lovers story. This was very heartfelt for me. I felt the emotions of the characters with every page. I appreciated the realness of the story, like I can see this happening in everyday life. I can’t wait to read the next installment of the series.
In His Kiss is the first book by Ava Alise I have read. I enjoyed the complex relationship between Xia and Jordan. Having been friends from childhood, as college students they have fallen for each other but neither want to ruin the relationship they have by admitting their feelings. Deeper in this book it deals very sensitively with the subject of depression. This is a touch subject that we have a hard time dealing with even though mental health has become such a hot topic. She does a great job dealing not only with the people who have depression, but the surrounding characters and how they deal with the issue. I absolutely enjoyed the book and am looking forward to the next one in this series.

In His Kiss is the first book in the Unrequited series by Ava Alise. This is a contemporary friends-to-lovers romance- with plenty of angst and drama to keep things interesting.
We meet Jordan and Xia who have grown up together- with a close friendship that has spanned the years. What happens when a few too many drinks leads these long-time friends to cross the ‘friendship’ line- sharing a steamy night where secret longings are revealed. What comes with the cold light of day? Was it just an alcohol fuelled mistake? Is their friendship strong enough to survive? You know what you need to do if you want to find out.
Happy reading!
Thank you, Ava Alise!
This is the second book in this series which is just as great as the first one. This series just keeps getting better and better. I highly suggest you read the first book as well as it is just as great. This is a well written story about Nya and King and the past they had and the future in front of them. They are relatable and made the story come to life. I enjoyed their growth and the chemistry they share. They made such great characters. Nya and King had a past but now as adults, Nya is faced with the lies she told and her new room mate who happens to be King. What will fate have in store for these two? I highly recommend reading this book to find out.
