What’s better than being a prince or a super-secret spy? A prince who IS a super-secret spy. Benedict was born into royalty, but trained to become Specialist Six. Yet, his family didn’t know…except for Cas and Benedict’s valet, Paul. After a near-miss with death, he realized just how little he’d be missed if he had died. He’s literally a ghost.
In walks the new Quartermaster. One brilliant and delightfully awkward man named Felix. Benedict is intrigued from the get-go. He knows better, so he hides behind his trained persona to allow for distance. Felix, who’s rightfully offended by the barbs Benedict is slinging, is not a fan. That lasts for 24 hours, and then they can’t fight the chemistry anymore.
Despite Benedict’s reservations, Felix joins him in his next mission. Someone has stolen the crown jewels, and Felix found a lead. A crazy road trip ensues. The action is fun to read. I enjoyed their banter. Besides being a secret spy, Benedict was also a secret sweetheart. He was constantly encouraging and supporting Felix. He wanted to help Felix learn to trust, not just him (Benedict), but also himself. Felix was capable of more than he thought.
This is the fourth book in the series. As with the previous books, it covers the two weeks before the ball, from Benedict’s perspective. It meets up with the brothers at the ball. We see some familiar scenes play out, but from a different point of view. I like how it gives it more depth and meaning. While it can be read as a stand-alone, I would encourage you to read the entire series. It’s such a delight!

4.5 Stars!
In His Court is Prince Benedict’s book, the fourth in line to the throne and a veritable spy for his country! Again, you can totally read these books in any order you prefer and I’m sure you’ll find something to love in each of them.
This one, because of Benedict’s profession and the fact that the Rosavia jewels had been stolen, was more action-packed and dare I say, a little Bond-like, and very enjoyable. I absolutely adored Benedict, he was definitely not what I expected or who Felix thought he was. It took me longer to warm up to Felix, who was a nerdy genius working with Benedict and had a huge chip on his shoulder. I totally got why, but I wasn’t too happy by how Felix totally judged Benedict by his reputation and jumped to conclusions over Benedict’s reasons for not wanting him on the field risking his life. Still, they had great chemistry and I enjoyed watching them work together later in the story.
Kieran Flitton did such a fantastic job with this story. I love how perfectly he’s captured all the princes and their significant others. Very recommendable!
Benedict and Felix are total opposites from totally different backgrounds. Prince Benedict’s been training since childhood to be a secret operative often putting his life in danger. Felix is a super intelligent genius that’s top secret job is assisting the royal’s behind the senes. When the Crown Jewels go missing they go on a secret mission together utilizing Felix’s photo memory to help find who took them and where they are hidden. Will Benedict recover the jewels or will he discover something even more precious…This audiobook is definitely intriguing and full of action, suspense, humor and delicious hot romance! You’ll love the intense chemistry between these characters along with the quirky way Felix shows his feelings to Benedict! Oh and I absolutely loved Benedict’s uppity cat! I definitely recommend this audiobook to anyone looking for a Royal HEA! I also thought narrator Kieran Flitton did a fantastic job with the voices!
In His Court is the fourth book in the Rosavia Royals series. Each book in this series is written by a different author and focuses on a different prince within the Rosavia royal family. The books can easily be read as standalones as well, but the characters from the other books do make a quick appearance.
In His Court is what happens when a James Bond thriller is mixed with a fairytale romance. Prince Benedict is not only a royal, but the top spy of his country. Danger and covert missions is his life, but as exciting as that is, there’s something he’s missing: love. Felix has always been the outcast. A child genius who’s never fit, Felix is finally living his dream by working for Rosavia’s intelligence agency. When Benedict and Felix meet, there’s immediate sparks—there’s no denying the attraction that simmers between the two men. When the Crown Jewels are stolen, Benedict and Felix must learn to work together and retrieve the priceless items no matter what the obstacles.
This is a sweet, cute romance with a lot of thrills and shenanigans. The spy plot and action scenes were exciting and fun, and reminded me of a James Bond movie. Don’t overthink the way the covert operations are run (it isn’t realistic but it is entertaining) and just enjoy the action and banter between Benedict and Felix. The romance between the two men is really lovely, and I enjoyed watching it grow and develop into a beautiful love story.
Kieran Flitton narrated the audiobook and he did a fantastic job. I love how smooth his voice is and the different tones and accents he can do. The characters were all distinct and it made it really easy to follow along in the audiobook. He narrated the action scenes with energy and excitement, which really added to the overall performance. The audiobook production was well done with no errors.
Loved it.
In His Court had a different flavor than the first three books in the series – not in a bad way, just different. I will say that I wasn’t sure about Felix and Benedict at first, but it didn’t take long for me to warm up to them and settle in to enjoy their journey. That said, Max Rowan didn’t make their journey exactly easy. This one is full of danger and intrigue, and these guys have their work cut out for them if they want everything sorted in time for the ball. I really like the balance between romance and intrigue, and I’m always a fan of some well-timed wit, so I certainly enjoyed that. I’m thoroughly enjoying this series, and Max Rowan doesn’t disappoint with Prince Benedict’s story. Each book in the series is connected but still works as a standalone, although, I would highly recommend reading from the beginning to get to know the entire royal family, their quirks, and their pets – those cats are a hoot and even occasionally steal the show.
In His Court by Max Rowan is the fourth book in the Rosavia Royals series. This is an exciting adventure of a read – suspense, action, espionage, heat, and even humor. Felix and Benedict ste so exciting and fun and the story had me glued to the pages. Amazing story and characters – loved it!
This is my favorite book in the series! Prince Ben the spy and Felix the tech genius. Their meeting wasn’t ideal, but they just can’t fight it. Their adventure is exciting, funny, just all the feels! Highly Recommend! You will not be disappointed!!
Prince Benedict fourth in line to the throne and vital member of the nation’s security team. He was paired with Felix to trace and find the stolen crown jewels. There was an instant attraction that these two felt for one another with constant bantering back and forth.
This story dives into the spy and espionage more and just a little of romance. There are a lot of twists and turns waiting for the outcome of both the mission and the romance. I definitely recommend this book.
Spies, lies, secrets, and love…
Prince Benedict – hiding a big secret about what he really does for the family. Who knew one of the princes would be a spy? Skiing down mountains, climbing trees, retrieving jewels. What is not to love about his life? Truth is, Benedict is lonelier than he cares to admit. No love to call, no love to travel with, no love to go home to.
Felix Wright is a superior genius with four degrees and a head for intelligence. You’ll never know he’s never actually been in the real world.
The crowned jewels were stolen and Benedict’s vacation is cut short. He arrives at the complex with his valet only to discover there are a few changes. There is a new guy named Felix.
Naturally, he does a quick sweep of Felix’s appearance. Becoming attracted, Benedict quickly turned to the business at hand.
What better way to not admit to any attraction? A little banter among colleagues to keep things exciting.
The race is on to find the Crown Jewels two short weeks before the ball is to begin. Nothing more embarrassing for the family than not having the ability to protect what’s precious and priceless.
One action packed page after another. Lots of sexual energy, intrigue, thrills, the usual sweetness and a HEA for the nerd and the spy.
**I received the ARC via Gay Romance Reviews for my honest feedback.**
This one was my favorite in the series!!
I was drawn into the story of Prince Benedict and Felix right away. Unique characters with depth that had me believing in them both and their mission.
I really enjoyed the writing.
Action packed and full of emotion.
Happily recommend!!
In His Court is the fourth book in the Rosavia Royals series. I loved both Ben and Felix and how they interacted together. Ben is a specialist in the secret service but everyone thinks he’s in the army and Felix also works for the secret service. If this was a bond film, Felix would be Q and Ben would be Bond. Only in this case, Bond ends up in a relationship with Q. I thought it was a wonderful story as they both try to find the Crown Jewels and who took them. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I’ll be honest, as I read the other books, I started wondering if Ben was a figment of everyone’s imagination. I stayed up late reading. Lol. I made me so warm and fuzzy when Ben met Felix. My favorite moments in books are when the two main characters see each other for the first time and it’s fireworks plus a little.resistance!!!
This one hit different. Good different.
Where romance novels would normally capture your heart and squeeze a little, In His Court engages your mind with intrigue and genuine plot. Surprising but very VERY welcome.
The sex was toned down (though still hot in the 2-3 scenes of naked fun) which left ample room to enjoy the boys and development. It helps that the author has a background in government security as that brought the world to life.
As for the lumps and bumps – they were few and forgivable. The biggest gripes I had were that there wasn’t really any reason for Felix to immediately hate Ben at their first encounter. And sometimes the story created drama from something that already felt resolved. But despite the fish-out-of-water flip-flops of emotional insecurity that seemed a little contrived, you’ll still derive immense pleasure and satisfaction from the story itself.
And we’d be remiss not to consider that countering the minor faults was a MAJOR positive:
The dialogue. It was REAL. Honest. You’ll find yourself devouring giant swathes of wordplay that you would say too, were you in the same position as the boys. Particularly Benedict’s analytical thoughts juxtaposed against moments of naked honesty. So refreshing and simple. Though if you ever find a pair of 22 year olds as mature and ready to talk about their feelings as Ben and Felix, you give them my number stat!
And that Ida von Tarr woman is so righteously satisfying to read getting her comeuppance. You just know she’s going to hell.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll squeal every time you go to pick this book up and you’ll feel completely justified doing so. Dive in without a backward glance.
I was gifted an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Again
I love a sexy nerd and spy mashup, and Felix and Benedict are outstanding. I want to be in their court again and again. They simply shine together. Their strengths complement beautifully and I adore the bickering, especially how Felix doesn’t give Benedict an inch. His nickname never failed to make me smile. “You’re everything I never knew I needed.” Felix and Benedict made me melt. I fell in love with their brains first but adore Felix’s bravery and Benedict’s honesty. They are the whole package. Intrigue, danger, and answers lie ahead in this fast-paced yet delightful book.
Another great addition to this wonderful series. Prince Benedict is a spy who hides behind the facade of the lazy, playboy prince. When the crown jewels are stolen, Benedict is on the case with Felix, a genius with trust issues. They are each weary of the other but each is exacyly what the other needs. Felix can see beyond Benedict’s facade to the real him and Benedict really helped Felix build his confidence. Their banter is great! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This is the fourth of five concurrent stories, each story focusing on one of five brothers (the Princes of Rosavia). The books are numbered in order from eldest to youngest Prince, but the stories all take place at the same time and can be read in any order. This story focuses on the 4th in line, Prince Benedict, and his enemies to lovers (albeit the enemies part doesn’t last long) relationship with super-genius Felix. It’s James Bond wrapped up in a royal romance, and it is very different than the other 4 books. The plot is interesting, the characters likeable, there’s lots of action and most of it takes place outside of and away from the palace, which is a refreshing change. The story ties up a number of loose ends that were left dangling from prior books, so there’s a satisfying sense of closure as well.
We know very little about Benedict from the prior books, other than a perceived public persona as a lazy, screw-up rivaling or exceeding that of rebellious youngest Prince Wren. In fact, Prince Benedict is most notable for his conspicuous absence, so it’s a bit disorienting when we are thrown in two feet with him in the midst of some spy-action at the start of the book. The premise of a Prince being a highly trained operative constantly in harm’s way seemed false, but the reader is likely not here for realism (the whole suspension of disbelief thing exists for a reason). There’s a little less dimension to Benedict and Felix than some of the MCs in the companion books, but the enjoyment from this book is driven by the action not the introspection, and the action is great, the characters are sweet and funny and you root for them all throughout the book. Overall, this book is one of the stronger of the quintet and a very enjoyable read.
* I received an advanced reader copy of this book and voluntarily agreed to provide my review, which reflects my independent opinion.
No spoilers of any kind included.
In His Court was awesome and I’ll leave it at that because if I say anymore I’ll be giving away spoilers.
This is the first time that I’ve read anything by the author Max Rowan and I got to admit I’m hooked on this author’s work so I will definitely be reading more in the future.
So yes I do recommend this book.
*An ARC was provided by the author, publisher or a promotional service and I have chosen to publish a fair and honest review*
Similar to the others in the series, you can’t help but immerse yourself into the world of royalty. Benedict has trained his entire life as a spy and he’s assigned to find missing jewels. He’s teamed up with the brilliant Felix, and the two butt heads immediately. I loved how this story played out; with tons of action, quirky and funny back and forth between the two men as they got to know each other and eventually fell in love. A great read!!
This is the first I’ve read by this author.
In His Court is a good, suspenseful read. The cloak and dagger stuff is well written, has a smooth flow, and kept my attention from start to finish.
Benedict is a good, strong character, and I enjoyed getting to know him. His place in the grand scheme of things is exciting in its complexity, and at times I had to remind myself of his age.
Felix’s character was a little harder to get to know. The bit of backstory on him helped me understand his outlook and attitude, and I liked him, but it took a little longer to love him.
I ended up loving them both separately and together. They are a lovely couple, and the sexy times are very well done. Their case, their romance, and their HEA are believable and satisfying.
I look forward to more from this author.
