Fall. Autumn. It doesn’t matter what you call it, I hate it. I despise pumpkins, Halloween, and the overwhelming sense of dread as the cold and damp move in. But when my new chauffeur drives up in a hearse, Halloween carols blaring, I realize there will be no escape from the holiday. Penny is the self-proclaimed Queen of Fall. And it’s her mission to turn me into a pumpkin spice fiend. PennyFall …
Penny is the self-proclaimed Queen of Fall.
And it’s her mission to turn me into a pumpkin spice fiend.
Penny
Fall is the best time of the year! I love pumpkin spice everything, cozy scarves, and nostalgic movies. But most of all, I love Halloween.
My quaint home town of Harrogate is the perfect place to celebrate the holiday. We’re the original Halloween town. We have celebrations all month!
I should be more excited, except that I’m going back to Harrogate after failing to make it as a journalist in Manhattan.
Instead of living out my dreams, I’m living in a dilapidated Victorian house with creepy identical twins, a black cat named Salem, and a snobby ghost. I also have a new temp job with a sexy, but grouchy billionaire who is determined to make me quit.
Garrett is in desperate need of some Halloween cheer. But as much as I want to take him in the back of my hearse and have my way with him (okay that’s a little creepy!) I can’t be distracted by his washboard abs.
I’m up to my eyeballs in debt.
The mean girl from high school is now my mean coworker and is trying to wreck my life.
My mother wants me to write a juicy tell-all about Garrett and his huge family.
Yep, I’m going to trick the cold-blooded billionaire.
I know I need to stick with the plan and weasel enough information out of my boss to write a killer article for a big payday.
But when Garrett says in that deep, sexy voice, “Nice costume.”
Instead of playing a trick, I’d rather give him a treat!
This standalone, full length romantic comedy has no cliffhangers! It features plenty of steam, the largest selection of hot brothers to ever grace your e-reader, and a multitude of Halloween innuendos!

Penny McCarthy returned home from Manhattan having failed as a journalist. On the train, she meets a young boy travelling alone and she shares her lunch with him. He is going where she is, so she carries him off the train, only to be accosted by a tall man with broad shoulders. She chews the man out for letting his young son travel alone like that! But he turns out to be the child’s brother, who she is unaware has been trying to get his brothers out of a cult and to safety one at a time. Davy adores Penny by now and cried nonstop when Garrett pulled him from her arms and left. When Garrett’s brother called him while he was driving home with Davy, Garrett lost his license for talking on the phone in the car. Now he was at the mercy of his brother’s whenever he had to drive somewhere.
Penny had arranged to live in a haunted Victorian house with two strange identical twins, part of the foster family she used to live with, but the housing was free and she loved the old place where she used to live as a child. Since she landed a temp job as an account manager at Svensson PharmaTech with Garrett Svensson, her mother, now an editor at the Vanity Rag, a high-society tabloid, wants her to take advantage of her position to write an in-depth expose on the family’s embarrassing secrets and scandals. Although Penny grudgingly accepts the task at first, she is definitely uncomfortable about it.
After the shock of finding out Penny – the woman who berated him at the train station – is his new temp, Garrett tries to make the most of it. Garrett hates pumpkins, Halloween, and Fall. But the bubbly, happy Penny loves it all and wants to share that love and Halloween cheer with her grumpy boss. But when his new “chauffeur” – Penny — drives up in a hearse to pick him up, he realizes the “Queen of Fall” has taken over the season! She is fun-loving and feisty and everything a man like him needs to live a joyful and happy life – even if he is resisting every step of the way. And as she and Garrett get to really know each other, she doesn’t want to betray him with the juicy expose her mother wants. His family has already been betrayed by others and this would more than likely shatter his trust in her. What will she choose to do? And what will Garrett do if he hears about it?
This was a fun book, watching the grumpy billionaire experience a woman who loves life unconditionally! Will she be able to push his boundaries and help him enjoy everything around him? Grab your copy and see what changes are in store for him!
Seasonal Romantic Deliciousness!
OK…Now I need to go back and read the previous books in the series because I’m so into this author, her writing style, and the series setting.
The two main characters, Penny and Garrett are a deliciously dynamite together and the supporting cast are there to make sure the story is well colored and to keep everything moving along nicely.
Definitely recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and pleasure. Peace.

Once again Alina Jacobs creates a storyline that you cannot put down. I literally brought my iPad out with me so I could read on my dinner as I didn’t want to miss out on this book. Was in my mind all day long and was killing me to put it down and do things I had to do. Plus this book is written in such a way that not only does it draw your attention from the beginning and hold it but you can tell the author has a great imagination with that many characters to work with. The characters and the storyline are written where they feed off each other and I absolutely love this family, book, series and author. Totally want to give it more stars as it totally deserves them so go grab your copy today. Happy reading!!
I loved this holiday themed romcom. I thoroughly enjoyed the chemistry, banter and sparks that zipped back and forth between Penny and Garrett. Both these characters were very amusing. Garrett with his Scrooge-like attitude toward everything Autumn & Halloween and Penny”s passion for all things fall created a delightful base for this funny and fabulous read. Toss in a memorable setting and a entertaining cast of secondary character including a black cat and a ghost, and you have yourself a delightful book packed with holiday charm, humor, heat and heartwarming romance.
Tricks and treats. I would love to actually be there to take part in all those Halloween festivities. I may not survive to participate a second year, but what a way to go. Garrett is one of the brothers that I’ve been most looking forward to seeing get his own story. I knew there had to be more going on under that curmudgeonly exterior. And there is a lot more, including family secrets that are making me desperate to learn even more about the Svenssons. (Hint, hint: I need another book about them already.) Penny is just a nut. But she’s exactly my kind of nut. I clicked with her; I don’t know how to explain it any better than that. Together, Garrett and Penny had me laughing so hard I almost couldn’t breathe. The Svenssons seem to be a case study in Murphy’s Law, because if it can go wrong for one of them, it will and in the most spectacularly public way possible. I’ve only just finished reading this book but I’m dying for another one. NOW!

This is long so be prepared to sit for a while or take breaks. The writing is somewhat confusing at times but it could be the way this particular author writes. I will tell you that her characters are quirky and you will laugh at the antics.

When I read a book by Alina Jacobs, I know exactly what I’m in for – plenty of laughs, innuendo, banter, and steam. I also know that I’m going to get too much of a good thing and all of those will start to feel repetitive towards the end, but I will have enjoyed the journey. This book is no exception to that; there is some great fall-themed humor and a relaxing lightness to the story that makes it easy to get hooked.
The story follows Garrett, one of the brothers we’ve seen featured in the series. It can easily be read as a standalone, but if you’ve read other books in the series, navigating the complicated family dynamics will be a lot easier. Garrett is a serious, cranky sort of guy who has a softness he doesn’t show the world. When he meets Penny, she is funny and feisty, all things he doesn’t realize he wants. Penny slowly breaks down Garrett’s gruff exterior. The only problem? She’s supposed to be writing an expose on his family.
This book is a great Halloween-themed romantic comedy. There’s a haunted house, baking, a hearse, and plenty of tricks and treats. If you’re like me, you’ll greatly enjoy the first two-thirds of the book then wish it was a little shorter (by the end I was rolling my eyes every time I heard that Garrett was rolling on a condom). Making these books shorter would ensure they were a 5-star read every time, but I have greatly enjoyed the series. I’m curious to see who the next brother featured is – there are certainly plenty to choose from.
