I could not get into this book. I usually will get hooked on a story within the first 2 chapters, but I couldn’t do that here. I guess it is just not my kind of story.
Witty mystery with a wild crew of geriatrics as main characters.
I haven’t laughed this much in a while!
Loved all the characters and the interactions between the four women!
Good escape book
Good fun read!
This book is a quick read and a great escape from the COVID-19 news. The characters are great and I love the way the authors have pulled them together. I liked this book so much that I went online and ordered the next book in the series.
Great read during these surreal times!
Great job of keeping you guessing where Lily was going. The characters were fun and quirky.
Very readable, original characters and story line!
It started out boring. So I read only 20 pages.
It was fun, but not too heavy. A mystery without murder! I liked that for a change.
Great mystery. Touched on a lot of different emotions.
In for a Penny is about four Grannies with a lot of spunk. Lillian is in trouble and asks her friend Maggie to take care of her home for her while she goes away for a while. Where is Lillian going and why?! Follow the adventures of these grannies, they are definitely not your everyday grannies! They had me laughing along the way!!
Lillian is the last of an old family who had been founders of a little town. After her late husband spent all her money on lotto tickets, she has to pawn and sell family things to keep up her house for the sake of the town. When her best friend, Maggie’s, husband dies, she comes to live with Lillian. She agrees to help Lillian fix up the house to stay on the register of houses viewed by tourists. The local funeral director helps Lillian get a little extra money to bury her husband by means of fraud. Then, the director carries on stealing from the government. Lillian turns herself in and goes to prison without telling Maggie and leaves her to fix up the house and keep it all a secret. The local sheriff, Teague, brings a hippy (Sera) and a reporter (Abby) to stay at the house and the three of them go after the bad guy to prove Lillian is not guilty of all the missing money. This is a humorous, action-packed mystery with fabulous characters.
Lost interest about half way through
Wonderful entertainment. Easy read. Cant put down.
This book was good. The characters were older than most books I read. It was entertaining.
I enjoyed reading this book, it kept me wanting to keep reading to find what was coming next.
Not usually my type, but it was fun. I usually pick books with more substance.
