This is the first book I’ve read of Lindsey Kelk and I’m not sorry. In Case You Missed It is such a feel-good romance about Ros whose come back home after a few years abroad and how she navigates all the changes at home with her parents, friends and ex-boyfriend … wanting it all to be the same and yet not knowing what she wants at all.
It’s classic “there’s no place like home” theme. Lovely book.
I loved it.
In Case You Missed It Straight out, I loved this book! Truly was waiting to jump into it every day! This was my first read by Lindsey Kelk, so it was a welcome, wonderful surprise. Laugh-out-loud moments (more than 5, which is huge to me!), romance, endearing characters AND a vast amount of “true to life” dating situations, good and bad. It’s Brit romcom at its finest!!
Swoops you up and fills your heart with such joy.
It might be the funniest and most relatable of ALL BOOKS EVER.
Like a modern day Bridget Jones. Laughed so much, the characters were relatable and felt real. The ex was so obnoxiously bad that I cheered at the end. Absolutely loved it. If you love Bridget Jones you’ll love this book!
Lindsey Kelk is the queen of funny romcoms.
Cute story. Easy to relate to Ros.
In Case You Missed It was my first Lindsey Kelk book.
Lindsey Kelk is funny!! Thanks to the author chat, I got to see that her book is hilarious because she has a wonderful sense of humor.
The story revolves around Ros and her return home after living in the US for a few years. She’s looking for a job and a place to live, desperate to reconnect with her friends while seeing that they’ve all moved forward in life while she was gone. She ends up with a job that connects her to a young gamer that just made me laugh. I don’t want to spoil it but I looked forward to all her interactions with him.
I don’t know if I’d classify this as a romcom. It definitely has romance, but it’s more about Ros figuring out her life and her experiences with her friends. So like chicklit-com.
ICYMI had plenty of quirky British humor and listening to it with a British narrator made it even better. I was driving in my car laughing out loud because of some of the things that happen to Ros. I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for some outrageous visuals and good laughs.
Do you need to laugh? I always do. And I think (know) I’ve just found a new-to-me author to binge.
Thanks to a couple of friends for introducing me to Lindsey. I’m fairly certain eating and reading her books is not encouraged. I smiled, I laughed, I choked on dinner.
This is my kind of heroine. Ros has quirky, self-deprecating humor and the propensity for finding herself in a kerfuffle. Her life on the outside looks shiny and bright but secretly she’s a bit of a hot mess. And I can relate.
She reunites with friends, family, and ex-boyfriend, Patrick. He’s dreamy but her friends can’t stand him. And also, maybe she has a ridiculous and adorable meet-cute with a married guy in the bathroom?
This is a perfect romcom to read. I’m so excited to find another author with a backlog for me to dive into.
A fun romantic comedy that’s particularly strong on the comedy side. If you like to see a young woman learn to stand up for herself and also enjoy some pretty wild physical comedy (not sex, just madcap antics), this zingy London-based story will hit the spot. Thanks, Lindsey Keller, for the pleasant breaks from American political strife.
A fabulous, uplifting read!
Have you ever read a book that you wanted to absolutely love but only ended up liking? That would be my stance on In Case You Missed It. This is why I would only rate it 3.5 stars that will be rounded up to 4 stars. The writing is really good and storytelling is worth the read. But the plot and subplot should’ve been exchanged.
There were several reasons that I felt that this book would’ve been better if the heroine hadn’t ended up with who she did. It wasn’t that this person was a huge douchebag, the fact is that I think someone else in the story would’ve made a better match for her than someone who’s already entered her life and left it.
Overall I would give this author another try with a story that isn’t about second chance romance. Thanks to HarperCollins and Netgalley for the ARC.
I read through a few of the reviews for In case Your Missed It before I sat down to write this review, which is something I don’t usually do. However, I was curious what others thought. There are some widely mixed reviews, it looks as though either readers loved this book or hated it. So my advice, if you are reading this review is to just go pick up the book. If you wanted to read it, then go ahead and read it, make your own opinion about it.
BUT… if you are looking for a review here you go.
I really liked In Case You Missed it. The story was interesting, a great way to lose yourself in a book for a few hours. An easy read with relatable characters. Ros is quirky and fun, she feels like someone that you could just meet and be friends with. I love that in a character. And John… oh sweet John, you just need to read it to know why. I love him. In case You Missed It is just a great Rom Com, no doubt about it. It was just a pleasure to read.

This book is brilliant. I laughed so much reading it and found it tough to put down. In Case You Missed It is about Ros who has recently moved back to England after 3 years in the States and is living with her parents. She finds that a lot has changed in those three years with her family and friends. What follows is fun, funny, sweet and a fantastic tale of friendship, finding yourself and love. The characters were great and I found myself cheering on Ros through her adventures. I really enjoyed this one from Lindsey Kelk and will be sure to read more from this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for an ARC of this book. The opinions here are my own.
If you forego sleep, you can read this hilarious PG15 second chance romance set in London about a radio-producer-turned-podcast-producer in twenty-four hours and it will be well worth the loss of sleep. I had a paperback ARC and this voluntary review is my own opinion.
Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins for gifting me an eARC of this book. These opinions are my own.
3.5/5 Stars
After being out of the country for three years, Ros arrived back to the UK frustrated that everything has changed. While she’s stuck thinking about the past, she’s missing what’s right in front of her.
I found this book (like most rom-coms) to be fairly predictable but honestly that’s part of what I enjoy about them. It takes a bit for me to laugh and this one had some great moments that had me giggling. Ros is put into some interesting situations, especially where her parents are concerned. I fell hard for John’s character from the moment she stumbled upon him in the best rom-com kind of way!
My biggest complaint about this story was Ros’ character, I found her to be a bit whiny. While she might not have been the most lovable character, I still enjoyed the overall story.
I thought that this book had its moments. I found the basic plot/story appealing but this book failed to maintain my interest and I found myself having to return to it rather than just read through it. I have to say that I really didn’t like Ros much. I thought that she was entirely too clueless, too self-centered and way too immature. She was supposed to be in her thirties but I felt she came across as maybe in her early twenties. Another problem I had was that even though this is clearly labeled as a rom-com, the romance was at best a secondary banana to Ros and her life drama. This is a very annoying trend this year and I do not like it and am very unhappy about it. This is my candid review that I am posting of my own accord.
I’ve enjoyed books with unlikeable characters before, see any book by Ruth Ware, but Ros takes the cake. From the moment we first hear about her ex, the obsessing starts, and all we read are endless pages of obsessing over a less than stellar guy. When they meet up, he’s exactly the jerk all of Ros’s friends warn us about. And why would you pass over John? Talk about not giving a guy a chance in favor of another toxic decision when you are claiming how grown-up you are.
For me, the writing was okay, but there were a lot of stumbles along the way, such as “lifetime-long”, when I think lifelong would suffice. While that might seem such a small thing to gripe about, other things such as, “through the menopause” and “Brewdog after Brewdog after Brewdog”, make it feel sloppy. Paired with an utterly unlikeable main character, it gets tedious. I didn’t see the tagline when I requested this from Harper Collins, or I would have steered clear. This one wasn’t the book for me, but others have enjoyed it, so this will be hit or miss for readers.
This book was so refreshing. It was about second chances and growing and believing in yourself.
Ros takes a job in Washington DC leaving behind her friends, family and boyfriend in London. After three years in the US, she returns home for a fresh start, or so she thinks. Nostalgia gets the best of her and she starts falling back into things she glamorized in her mind. Her parents are too focused on each other and her friends have their own lives and Ros just wants it to go back to the way it was before she left. In doing so, she tries to get back with the boyfriend she had before she left and takes a job that she really can’t put her heart into.
Her friends are such an amazing part of this book. They want all the best for her and even have to talk to her about some hard truths to get her to open her eyes.
It feels like she is settling and not taking risks, not being her real self.
I really enjoyed the growth of Ros and her character. The ending of the book was pretty profound when she realizes that being wrapped up in the past won’t let her move forward. This book was very cute and such a great read. Thank you to Netgalley, Harpercollins and the author for an early copy of this book.
