Five stars just isn’t enough. There are a few characters that I absolutely LOVED in my years of reading. Those that have stayed with me beyond the final words of “The End.” Two of those are Mason and Scarlet. Mason is so misunderstood by almost most of his family. His cousin is one that gets him and encourages him. His mother is the driving force behind him wanting to run in the opposite direction. She has a plan for him and won’t consider he has a mind of his own. While that’s parenting for a two year old, it’s not so much for a grown man. Mason has to fight for what he wants and is getting tired of doing so. It’s better to cut his losses. Scarlet is my hero in a way. She has no filter but that can get her into so much trouble. She has a chip on her shoulder the size of Mt Rushmore. Her childhood was unconventional in that her mother passed away when she was very young. Her father and three brothers didnt treat her any differently than another brother but she was a girl. So she learned to work on engines and get her hands dirty. Her secret hobby is one I’ve always wanted to do myself. So is she any less a woman? Not at all. Her closet shows it. Lol.
When the two of them get together, Mason has a huge wall to get around with Scarlet. She grew up with not much where as Mason did. Scarlet has some resentment about that. It’s not until Mason breaks things down for her that she realizes how full her life was growning up. It doesn’t stop some of those feelings to bubble up every now and then, though. That along with her verbal diarrhea can get her into situations where she may not be able to come back from.
I adored Mason. I have read the previous books in this series(not that you need to but why wouldn’t you) and have been looking so foward to his story. I knew there was so much more to him than what his mother had forced on him. He doesn’t hold the same opinion of status that she does. He really could care less. His love of community is shown through his job as a civil engineer and how he sees his town growing. Mason wants that not for himself but for how it will benefit others. That’s how his great grandfather, Pops, saw him.
Thank you Samantha Chase for giving us Mason and Scarlet. Thank you for giving us Pops. And thank you for making me want to move to Magnolia Sound.
4 stars
Samantha Chase delivers the perfect beach read in In Case You Didn’t Know! It’s the third book in the Magnolia Sound series and although I somehow missed the first two, I was easily entranced by the magic of Mason and Scarlett and the Sound.
Mason grew up in the lap of luxury, never truly wanting for anything, except maybe love and unconditional acceptance from his appearance driven family. He learned early on to fall in line with the plans his family, especially his tyrannical mother, had for him. It was just easier to go along to get along but now he’s a grown man and enough is enough! Moving out and getting his own place was the first step to finding himself; but handling the odd inheritance his grandfather left him just might be the biggest step he’s ever taken.
Scarlett’s childhood left something to be desired, like a constant supply of food, shoes and maybe the occasional dress, for a little girl in a house full of men. After losing her mother at only four, Scarlett knew that her dad did the best he could but he was out of his element raising a girl, so she became a tomboy, following in his footsteps in the family owned garage. She now finds herself more comfortable with an engine than people, especially rich people. Mason Bishop type people.
In Case You Didn’t Know brings us the classic “wrong side of the tracks” story but it’s so well done that it’s charming, not tired. Mason is the sweetest guy ever and his intentionally corny lines are completely adorable. While Scarlett’s prejudice annoyed the heck out of me, Mason just kept charming away the massive chip on her shoulder. His gentleness and southern charm and her fiesty but fragile personalities were perfect for each other. Much to love about this book!

Loved this thrilling, emotionally exciting, action packed and engaging romantic journey filled with witty banter, fun laugh out loud moments and undeniable passion… a fun and entertaining visit back to Magnolia Sound and I am looking forward to my next one!
Mason was part of the founding family of Magnolia Sound. He spent most of his life being told what to do by his parents. Who to see, what to wear, what school to go to. Finally at his wits end he has a major blowout with his mother and moves into his own place. The weight is lifted off his shoulders now that he is out on his own. At a concert a few weeks later he runs into a girl he knew from high school. She gives him the cold shoulder at first but he keeps pushing to get her to talk to him.
Scarlet is from the wrong side of the tracks, or so she thinks. She has no idea why Mason is talking to her. She is poor and his family is very rich. When he asks her to meet him after the concert she automatically says no way. Mason leaves it open ended hoping she will change her mind. When he makes it to the exit and finds she has come to meet him he is ecstatic. Their evening together turns into more than either had expected. Scarlet still has reservations about their different family dynamics so she keeps her family in the dark about their relationship.
When an inheritance comes with responsibility and hard decisions, standing by your family gets in the way, they drift apart again. Will Scarlet see his reasons? Will they be able to rekindle their relationship and plan for the future neither was expecting?
There is a strong chemistry between these characters you can practically feel jumping off the pages. You find yourself hoping they can make it past the divide of rich and poor that has been part of this small town forever.

Mason is so much more than I thought he would be. I wasn’t a fan of his in Mallory’s books, but started to like him in Sam’s book. Now I love him. I love all his corny pick up lines. He really has come into his own. I also love the improvements in Beau and Grace. Scarlett was a nice surprise. I like that she wasn’t a girly girl. I can’t wait to hear all about the baby. Hopefully in the next book. I’m thinking Courtney and Dean need a book!?!?
Ohmigosh!! I think is my favorite book in the series so far! I loved getting to see Mason claim his life back & not allow his parents to control him. And Scarlett….I couldn’t imagine a more perfect woman for Mason! I absolutely LOVED watching them get their HEA!!
In Case You Didn’t Know is my favorite in the Magnolia Sound series! Mason’s story was well worth the wait, and possibly the one I’ve been the most anxious for. I’m so glad he finally ventured out on his own, where he can make his own choices. I adore Scarlett and her strength is inspiring, proving that you can overcome obstacles. Their chemistry is off the charts, and the fight to get the girl is worth the lack of sleep if you start this book after bed time…hypothetically, lol.
Another great read!
I don’t know how Samantha Chase does it, but this is another fabulous book in the Magnolia Sound series! Scarlett is a girl from “the wrong side of the tracks” and Mason comes from an affluent family with a snobby mother who doled out her love based on accomplishments and status. But Mason’s grandfather knew there was more to Mason and he left the Mystic Magnolia to him to help him see the value within. Mason knew Scarlett in middle school, but she “knew” he was not in her league. So Mason has to work to convince Scarlett to give him a chance. The way these two “flirt” had me laughing while I understood their insecurities. And all of this is set in the charming town of Magnolia Sound, where we visit with past hero’s and heroines.
As usual, you’ll fall in love with these two and thoroughly enjoy the journey to their HEA.
I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely.
I absolutely adore Samantha Chase’s books!!! Full of love and steam, and a perfect romance all-around.
I received a copy for review purposes.
Magnolia Sound is one of my favorite communities. Every story Samantha Chase has introduced new characters and wove the other members of the community into the stories. I enjoyed getting to know all of them.
In the beginning of the story Mason was told that when it’s the person you’ll know and Mason was hit with that knowledge like it was a sledgehammer when he ran into Scarlett. Then he had to put in the work to get her. Scarlett is a self proclaimed snob in reverse. She has a prejudice against people with money and she has a struggle between her attraction to Mason and her feelings about the family he comes from and their wealth. I really love these characters and their growth throughout the story.
I abso-friggin-lutely LOVED Mason and Scarlett. I was skeptical of Mason when we first met him in Mallory and Sam’s story, but got excited about him in Sam and Shelby’s story. Sam was able to show us that there was a lot more to Mason than the perfect image Mason’s parents had presented to the world. Now that we have Mason’s story, I was not disappointed! He is such a great guy – and yeah, he looks perfect on paper because his parents made sure of it, but there’s a lot more ambition and heart to him than you would think.
Scarlett was a sassy-pants, talks-faster-than-her-brain-works, take no prisoners heroine. She didn’t grow up in a fairy tale and has strong feelings towards those who did. Interestingly enough – it seems that her brothers don’t have that view on life – but the baby of the family (and only girl) has clearly shaped her perceptions. She is ultimately unsure of Mason. She wants to like him, wants to love him, but her prejudice against his “perfect life” seems to get in the way. And Mason can handle it – at least at first… but what if every time a challenge arises, Scarlett throws their differences right back in his face?
Samantha Chase nailed this dynamic of right and wrong side of the tracks story. How people grow up certainly influences how they see the world and in this case, those differences are pretty glaring. Can Scarlett see past the pretty picture and learn to really see Mason for who is is and who he wants to be? Can Mason figure out how to handle Scarlett’s fiery passion and get past her defenses? And perhaps most important, can these two handle what life throws their way?
This is a fabulous addition to the Magnolia Sound series – the more stories we get, the more I wish this was a place I could go visit!
Ms. Chase finally gave us the tomboy heroine I’ve been waiting for. While Scarlett had a few assumptions I didn’t I could relate to her character so well. I like that we got to see the growth Mason went through in this book. This is a great small town romance. If only we could visit Magnolia Sound.
Another perfect beach read from Samantha Chase! I HIGHLY recommend that you read this as a series. It is just so much easier to get the full experience & background of these characters.
Mason was originally the character I was least interested in (in the first .5 book of this series)… but he has GROWN over the course of the series. I always love the “wrong side of the tracks” romance and this one delivers. I love the chemistry between the two characters and the way they work through their seemingly different views on what’s next for the town and their own relationship! I can’t wait to see what comes next in this delightful seaside town!
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
In Case You didn’t Know This is the 3rd book in the Magnolia Sound series and it was a my favorite so far. It is a great story of 2 people who are from opposite sides of the tracks but the chemistry is so overwhelming they can resist each other. While Mason and Scarlett both struggle with their own insecurities which makes the story all that more captivating as they work thru their issues. The story has wonderful surprises that you don’t see coming and squeeze your heart a little. Diffently one of those stories that keeps you hooked from page one until the end. Samantha Chase did an amazing job on this one.
In Case You Didn’t Know is book three in the Magnolia Sound series. Mason and Scarlett’s story is just what I was waiting for. This story is one that hooks you from the start, and you just cannot put it down. An excellent story not to be missed!
I love it. From character to character, scene to scene and cover to cover, this story is one of my favorites from Samantha Chase and of this year. I finished Mason and Scarlett’s story four days ago but I continue to think on it and just smile. It is so good!
Mason has to be one of my favorite characters. In Magnolia Sounds first story we met him and I didn’t like him!! Haha with each book we got to know the true Mason and I absolutely adore his character, quirks and personality. Scarlett is fierce and so relatable and I love her independently, as a daughter, sister, friend, and with Mason. The part of this story that makes it so incredible though is seeing Mason and this less affluent side of town develop and start to evolve. This community and the struggles, love, anger, friendship it shared with us is incredible. Then, as a bonus we have an animal shelter and volunteering with dogs throughout the story Pops presence and legacy is felt and I think he would be incredibly proud of all his grandchildren!
Thank you Samantha Chase for the chance to read this story and share my opinion!
Mason Bishop is finally making moves to live his own life. He’s gotten his own place and is no longer along himself to being a puppet to his controlling parents, especially his mother. Whew, is she a piece of work.
He runs into an old school acquaintance at a concert, Scarlett Jones. It takes quite a bit a talking for him to get her to spend some time chatting with him. Scarlett doesn’t think she’s good enough for Mason, because he comes from ‘money’.
The more she got to know him they more Mason showed her the truth to ‘the grass isn’t always greener on the other side’. Mason was amazingly patient with Scarlett with all her insecurities.
I must also give kudos to Scarlett who went above and beyond with Mason’s Mom. If I was in her shoes I don’t think I could of done the same thing. I think it showed how much she truly loved Mason.
I loved these two as a couple. Mason found someone who accepted him for himself and didn’t try to control him. I think they both found a great support person in Scarlett’s Grandpa.
I also think this book was written in a way that it would be a stand alone even though it is Book 3 in the Magnolia Sound Series….but I highly recommend you read this whole series as it’s pretty awesome.
Samantha Chase has given us the golden boy of Magnolia Sound and boy does he go above what I thought he would be like. I love that he has met a woman who is not into him for his money or what his family can do to her. Seeing him with Scarlet is like a new person waiting to jump out and really live. He does the same for her showing Scarlet what she is capable of becoming. Once again Samantha Chase brings us to this magical town with hope of new beginnings, love and second chances. Loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
I’ve been waiting for Mason’s story since book 1, and Samantha did NOT disappoint! Filled with twists and turns, and the perfect amount of drama, this book was perfect.
It’s definitely an opposites attract read, and there couldn’t be a better heroine for Mason that Scarlett. She’s fun, spunky, and has so much sass you can’t help but fall in love with her. She speaks her mind, sometimes before thinking and ends up regretting it, but she has such a relatable personality. I have to admit one of my favorite scenes is her putting a certain secondary character in their place, but also helped mend relationships that were on the rocks. Mason was amazing. We see his character grow even more in this story, and it’s awesome to see him become this amazing man, without guidance or being under someone’s thumb.
I’m HOPING I saw some sparks between a few secondary characters, and that we aren’t done with this series yet :).
This is an amazing story I would highly recommend!!
Audible Update:
I SHOULD have known!!!
I have been a fan Samantha Chase’s latest Magnolia Sound series from the very beginning. Each of the pairings in the series have been spot on, and I have loved them all. Now, we get to Mason. From the very first book I was not impressed with him as he was introduced. I had thought he had let his parents, especially his mother, walk all over him. I could not at this time, see him as the “hero” material in any book. Buuut, as I previously stated at the beginning of this review: I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN!!! HOW WRONG I WAS!!! From the very first word in this book, I fell a little more in love with Mason. He and Scarlett…utter perfection!! Each damaged enough with insecurities, to heal the other. I could not put the book down, I just kept reading. Ms. Chase just drew me in and showed me the actual character that Mason had.
My absolute favorite character in this series is Zeke, the patriarch great-grandfather. I fell in love with him in the intro novella Sunkissed Days. I had never met any of my grandfathers, but, my wish would have been to have one like Zeke!! He was in my opinion a great man. That being said as I read this book, I began to realize just how much like his great-grandfather that Mason actually was. Sorry, Ladies, you will have to read not only this book but Sunkissed Days to figure out what I am talking about. I refuse to give anything away. I will say though, I built up to a new respect and love (sorry/not sorry Scarlett) for Mason.
I was gifted with an e-copy of this wonderful book, I loved it so much I also bought the audio version of the book. I really can’t wait to listen to it because, in my case anyway, it brings the book so much more to life to me.
AUDIO UPDATE: OMG!!!! BRAVO Carly Robins!!! I FLOVE this story even more now after listening to Carly Robins narrate it!! She TOTALLY brought it to life to me.
Thank you for reading my review. I know you will enjoy this book as much as I have, so what are you waiting for, go hit that purchase button at your favorite retailer.
Thank you, Ms. Chase for sharing your spectacular story telling talents with your readers. I cannot thank you enough for the hours and hours of reading enjoyment you have given to me and others over the years. PLEASE keep up the phenomenal work in the future.
