Loved the descriptive telling of this story. Felt like I was there…
Couldn’t leave it alone. Good read.
great start, then lost energy.
Anticlimactic
Totally enjoyed the book. It was an easy read with lots of twists. Hard to put down.
This is a suspenseful piece of fiction ….not a true mystery as much as a loom at one person and how she alone pieces together a tragedy involving Isabelle.
Neve meets Isabelle on a drizzly evening in a bridge and tries to talk to her but the girl jumps. And the next thing you know, irresponsible, drinks too much, says too much, Neve has keys to the cottage…of Isabelle.
Have has never really grownup and taken life seriously as she lives with her married sis and loses her job. But the cottage gives her a way out…..leaving London for a tiny dark place with bars on the windows, few neighbors and little money.
Neve grows on you as she tries to deal with the cottage, her neighbors and the fact poor Isabelle had lived in fear . Her mission is to suck it up, clean the place and sell it. But somebody or something is trying to scare her, just like Isabelle. The plotting is good and the suspence keeps building as Neve looks to solve the reason Isabelle was afraid.
Neve becomes quite the determined grownup and keeps on pushing. The reasons behind Isabelle’s fears becomes real, tragic and sad……and bravo for Neve rising up to the truth, shocking as it is. This ends on a good feel, not happily ever after, but realistically a good feeling at the end.
Ok but not s real nail biter. More like the author tried to make the main character like Bridget Jones when she actually came off as a little whiny and self absorbed. Not a very cohesive narrative or strong plot. Just ok.
Excellent reading. I’d highly recommend
Couldn’t put it down
I love suspenseful books set in Cornwall. Kept my attention and interest.
Really good quick read that keeps you guessing.
Great story with an unexpected twist at the end. I really enjoyed it.
Whereas I found the POV in first person narrative a bit amateurish and therefore somewhat irritating, the story itself was good and the plot was not an evident unfold.
Characters are realistic, as are the situations they find themselves in.
This was an enjoyable read.
Pretty slowwwww
would make a great movie
The author did not spend time developing the plot in a way that leaves the reader wondering about many unanswered questions. The ending felt slapped together.
Good read with an unexpected twist
Real good
Loved this book and was totally unprepared for the “who done it” at the end! I had no idea and for me that was a biggie! I read a lot of thrillers or mysteries and can usually tell half way through the book who is the guilty person…but this book leads you so many different directions I could not tell! Its a great read and one I had a hard time putting down!
Beautifully written, suspenseful, and riveting to the surprising end.
