“Hot and humorous.” —USAToday.com Petite, kind, brilliant, and young, Stevie is nothing like the usual women bodyguard Shen Li is interested in. Even more surprising, the youngest of the lethal, ball-busting, and beautiful MacKilligan sisters is terrified of bears. But she’s not terrified of pandas. She loves pandas. Which means that whether Shen wants her to or not, she simply won’t stop … not, she simply won’t stop cuddling him. He isn’t some stuffed Giant Panda, ya know! He is a Giant Panda shifter. He deserves respect and personal space. Something that little hybrid is completely ignoring.
But Stevie has a way of finding trouble. Like going undercover to take down a scientist experimenting on other shifters. For what, Shen doesn’t want to know, but they’d better find out. And fast. Stevie might be the least violent of the honey badger sisters, but she’s the most dangerous to Shen’s peace of mind. Because she has absolutely no idea how much trouble they’re in . . . or just how damn adorable she is.

I always have a great time with all the shifters and I know one thing for certain, I am never bored when I read them. There is a lot of moving pieces throughout the book (as per usual with a Laurenston book) that I truly believe for maximum enjoyment, you should read her previous books. There are so many great characters that you want to know them all since almost all of them are in each story. I mean you don’t have to, but come on, why would you not want to read them? Everyone is so awesome!
Ahhh I love these crazy badger sisters. They have rock solid loyalty to each other and I giggle a lot when they fight with each other. The one thing that I wish we got more of, is Stevie and Shen time together. There’s a ton on Stevie and her two sisters, but I really felt Shen was a secondary character instead of a main one. The parts they were together were all kinds of wonderful but I just wish there was more togetherness. What’s hard is that there is soooo much drama and chaos that surrounds the sisters that there was a time or two that I forgot about Shen. But I still dig that happy panda who likes to hang out in a tree while munching on his bamboo. Seriously, so adorable.
I can’t wait to read Max’s book. That girl is scary crazy and it’s going to be fun watching her fall in love. Talk about gird your loins!
The Honey Badger Chronicles #2, I didn’t get a chance to read the first book in the series but after starting this one I didn’t feel it absolutely necessary to read the first. It explains well enough how the three sisters came to be especially since one is full honey badger, Max very protective and very violent, the oldest, Charlie, is half wolf and basically a helicopter mom for the sisters, and the youngest sister Stevie is half tiger and she’s… well this is her book.
Stevie is a former child prodigy in science and music but like many geniuses she has extreme social and anxiety issues. Shen was initially hired to be the bodyguard for a sixteen year old child prodigy, Kyle who lives with the sisters and whose only real friend is Stevie, but when Stevie gets asked to look into one of her ex-boyfriends because he may or may not be experimenting on hybrids like her Shen feels it’s his duty to protect Stevie.
The plot takes a roundabout way of getting to the point because the characters keep getting distracted by other things, like all the sisters having to go in to see psychologist, someone hugs Stevie she freaks out and shifts and almost tears a house apart, there’s a death in the family and they have to deal with honey badger drama, and of course there is the romance between Stevie and Shen. Shen is physically attracted to Stevie but he had a hard time reconciling the fact that he is older and she’s freaking brilliant and he’s not. Stevie doesn’t care the cat part of her has already claimed him as hers it takes her literally throwing herself at him before he gets the message.
Overall, it was a great book. If you’ve read Shelly Laurenston before you know her style humor if not you are in for a treat, as long as you like strong, foul mouthed, sassy, crazy women who can hold their own in a fight, and in Max’s case fight dirty. I love Laurenston’s female characters and the guys aren’t too shabby either they are strong enough to hold their own against the women and smart enough to understand them. Her writing is adventurous, humorous, and hot as heck, I still have a bunch of her books I need to read but every single one that I have read I’ve loved.
Manic! Hilarious! Shelly Laurenston does it again. In a Badger Way is the crazy wonderful tale of genius tiger/honey badger hybrid Stevie MacKilligan falling in love with cute panda shifter Shen Li. I love the MacKilligan sisters and their insane brand of love but Shen never sees it coming. This story will leave your sides hurt from laughing and your heart filled with love. A must read.
I laughed my ass off reading not just this book but all the books in the badger series. So. Much. Fun.
I want a panda shifter.
Shen is adorable & hot & funny and Stevie was a hot mess but so funny with it.
The chemistry between Shen, a panda shifter and Stevie, a tiger badger shifter hybrid is off the charts. This is a wacky wild ride. Stevie is probably my favourite of the sisters, and I’m really glad I dived back into this series.
Laugh-out loud funny in particular scenes. I read the series out of order and still enjoyed the book. I want to go back and read Charlie and Max’s stories again!
love it and she is on my auto buy list
*4.5 stars*
Hilarious, shifter romance…
Every time I pick up a book by this author, I’m careful to have lots of time and an empty bladder because I know I will be laughing hard and not wanting to stop… Honey Badgers “don’t care” may just be their life motto as Stevie and her sisters bluster, fight and love their way. This is a romance and Shen and Stevie have their moments but the witty banter and crazy, off the wall capers between all the characters are what makes this story shine so bright. Simply put, they are all insane. From Max who isn’t afraid of blood and gore (and causing it for a good cause!). From Charlie who can bake her way out of any trouble (even though she loves to cause it). To Stevie, a science/music prodigy, easily startled and laugh-out-loud crazily destructive. Shen quietly eats bamboo, and supports his unexpected new love, throughout the many, many ups and down and insanity-level hysteria that drives this story to epic entertaining heights. I would call it a shifter free-for-all with just enough sweet, romantic elements to call it romance.
If you are in a reading slump this read will catapult you out of it, one chuckle and guffaw at a time!
*I happily reviewed this story
**Thank you to NetGalley
OCD anxious tiger-honey badger hybrid Stevie with laidback badass panda Shen? I noted in a previous review that Shelly Laurenston seemed to be making her female heroines of her shifter books bigger and badder with each new book – I just did not expect that she would do make the heroine in this one physically bigger and badder. Opposites attract in this novel and that, along with an illegal genetic lab fight, turns this into a truly weirdly memorable story.
I love Shelly lauenston her books are great always look forward to new ones
This was amazing! I just love the three sisters! Stevie and Shen are wonderful together! I had some laugh out loud moments, a lot of them, and my husband kept looking at me like I was losing my mind! Laurenston’s crazy shifters are very entertaining with action, humor, romance, suspense, mystery, and of course, shifting!
Awesome loved it.She writes with humor.
Stevie has issues. Her issues have issues. But it doesn’t matter because she also has sisters and Shen. However, does Shen know he is hers?
In the Badger Way is second in Shelly Laurenston’s The Honey Badger Chronicles series. I enjoyed that Ms. Laurenston decided Shen needed crazier in his life. He is so laid back and Stevie is so not. He doesn’t quite understand how Stevie has made her way into his pants and his heart. I thought it was so adorable that he thought he had a say. And for all her crazy, Stevie is a force of nature. She has decided Shen is hers and makes it so. I love that Ms. Laurenston continues the crazy that permeates this world. I found myself laughing out loud at the antics of Stevie, her sisters, and their friends. I also found myself impressed with just how close-knit they were. They had each other’s back and I loved seeing how far that protection went. Ms. Laurenston continues to bring the crazy but it always seems so logical.
I found this latest addition to this series to be well written and enjoyable. The sense of community was only surpassed by the sense of fun. I thoroughly enjoyed Stevie and Shen’s tale and cannot wait to see where Ms. Laurenston will take us next.
Five Shooting Stars and Shining Star Award
She never disappoints!!! The only question is when is the next one coming out?!
Loved it and can’t wait for the next book!
Shelly Laurenston has another hit! All of her books are a guilty indulgence.
Her stories are laugh out loud funny with great characters you return to time after time.
I highly recommend this book and author and this was wonderfully entertaining
Love this series. Shelly is a great writer and I love all her books.
Very disappointing; I thought it would be much better based on the reviews I read, but I couldn’t force myself to finish it. I read lots of shifter and paranormal tales for the entertainment value, not expecting great literature, however this was not even entertaining.
