“This book was full of twists and turns and I loved the hell out of it!” -Abstract BooksHe was a vision of power and privilege.Ruthless arrogance personified.A total stranger and an irresistible challenge.I approached him in a busy casino and felt the sting of his brutal rejection. Then I did something incredibly brazen. Impulsive. Reckless.I stole from him.The object was inconsequential, only … stole from him.
The object was inconsequential, only worth a handful of dollars.
I didn’t do it for the money; it was about making a statement.
I went back home thousands of miles away without giving him a second thought until I spotted those quicksilver eyes glaring at me across a busy nightclub.
It was too impossible to be a coincidence.
Yet, there he was, seething with a violent promise of retribution.
He thought he’d intimidate me.
Hunt me down and make me pay.
What he didn’t realize was I don’t scare easily.
My name is Giada Genovese, and I’m a goddamn mafia princess.
**Impossible Odds is the fourth book in The Five Families Series but can be read as a standalone novel. This book is a mafia romance containing adult themes and may not be suitable for sensitive readers.

This book has such an interesting concept where the Mexican cartel meets the mafia princess. It certainly is an exciting tale and one that intrigued from the beginning, I was literally hooked and found the fast pace of the story perfect.
Giada Genovese is the daughter of the consigliere to a mafia don. She is headstrong, confident, and sexy but unsure of what she wants out of life. Primo is a Mexican cartel assassin, the second in charge of the head of the cartel. He is brash, super confident, determined, and a super spunk. When he meets Giada, well let’s just say there may have been some sparks but no fires were lit, then! I really liked both lead characters and while Primo made me want to shake him occasionally with his hot and cold attitude, I still liked him. The chemistry they had was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
The descriptions of Guaymas was so vivid I now want to travel there. Actually, all of the character and setting descriptions are terrific. Each helps you to visualize the story as you read.
This story has it all: a delicious bit of darkness, great romance, mafia as well as the cartel, interesting settings, a touch of humor, and some incredible twists and turns you don’t see coming. I totally recommend this book.

This book can be read as a standalone despite being the fourth book in The Five Families Series.
It has a fast paced story with romance, steam and some lies & secrets.
The story revolves around Giada and Primo.
Giada is a mafia princess who’s bold, brazen, confident and loves the fear of being caught after stealing, while Primo is a cartel hitman who’s imposing, dominating, assertive and never lets a woman mess with his mind.
When Giada steals from Primo, he decides to go after her to show her that he’s the one in charge with power but that desicion leads him to keep thinking about her. The story continues smoothly from there bringing lust, love and the forbidden relationship factor.
I did like reading this but felt like everything happened too easily. There wasn’t much of a
suprise element. Aside from that, the couple is absolutely fire together! Giada finally found the one dominating enough for her.
Would recommend as the storyline is awesome and most people have loved it.
This series delivers again! Giada and Primo had a connection from the start. She tempted fate the night they met. It came back full circle with a wild ride. Mafia meets Cartel.
She is a strong female who goes after what she wants. He is a man who is dominant and gets what he wants. The worlds they live in collide for a wild ride as only these two would take. Great plot twists keep the reader glued to the pages!
“I was going on the hunt. That little girl had no idea what she’s done, but she was about to find out.”
I might be a tad bit obsessed with The Five Families Series & to say that I was patiently waiting for Giada’s book would be lie; I’ve been waiting for her story since probably book one. && Let me tell you Jill Ramsower did NOT disappoint!!! Giada and Primo will shock you, have you fanning yourself ALOT, laughing & legit white knuckling your kindle. Impossible Odds had it all.. some serious twists ( like wait a minute… did I just read that twists?), action, adventure, family & one unique and undeniable connection. SO GOOD

This is the 4th book in this amazing series and is Primo and Giada’s turn. Giada is a mafia princess, which is a recent revelation to her, and while out in a casino she spots Primo across the room, and she is instantly attracted to him, but when he rejects her she steals something from him, and goes back to rejoin her friends. When Primo track her down to NYC he convinces her to leave with him to go to his home. Primo is a hitman who work for a Cartel kingpin, and he was after her cousin but could not resist the attraction to Giada. The Cartel and the Mafia are not a good mix, so what will happen to their love? This is a well written story which is intriguing and with twists, secrets, and love, which all had me fascinated throughout this addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend for all.

Impossible Odds is Book Four in the Five Families Series and what can I say but it’s full of intrigue, edge of your seat moments, some very steamy times but it’s also a book where we get to meet the Incredible Giada and Primo two people from the time they meet are combustible.
Giada is a Mafia Princess but she is also the “black sheep” of her family, never living up the expectations of her parents but she is a woman who knows that family is important but when she meets Primo all senses go out the window.
Primo is man not to be crossed, he is a Cartel Hitman but when he meets Giada he knows he has met his match.
Watching the two of them come together, despite all the obstacles that are laid before them they find a reason to show everyone who thinks that this isn’t a good idea that when there is a will there definitely is a way to just maybe find that HEA that you never knew you could find.
Rating:
The cartel man and the mafia Princess!
The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance:
Heat/Steam:
Story/Plot:
World building:
Character development:
The setting: Las Vegas, New Jersey and the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico
The Hero(s): Primo – He works for Naz, the Cartel Kingpin who took him in and raised him after finding him on the streets when he was about twelve. His mother died in a fire when he was ten and he lived on the streets for a few years before Naz found him. He sees Naz as a sort of father figure and if grateful to him.
The heroine: Giada – she is the daughter of a Mafia man and cousin to Maria from the last book in this series. Maria and her sisters (one of which is Alessia) are best friends as well as cousins to Giada and their father Enzo is the Capo. Giada’s father works for Enzo. Giada was raised in what she thought was a normal, very catholic upper middle class home and she only found out her father and uncle were in the mafia a few years back.
The Love Story: Both Giada and Primo are in a Las Vegas night club when they meet. He turns her down when she shows interest, so she steals from him and he tracks her down after she returns home.
The author, Jill Ramsower, is a great storyteller, I really enjoyed Maria and Matteo’s story and this one was good as well. The world building is terrific and I like the fact that all the background story doesn’t take up the greater part of the book. The characters are well developed and thought out and though there are quite a few supporting characters and situations (some from prior books), it is all told in a way that you don’t feel like you are missing anything if you read this as a stand-alone.
Also, the cross-over people and events don’t need a whole lot of background information that gets in the way of this story. There are just some touch points that fit in well with Primo and Giada’s story. I like the way Jill Ramsower builds up romantic tension and heat between the two main characters, so you can see the give and pull between them as well as the conflicts involved in being together.
I tend to like a bit more steam in the intimate scenes, but I am aware that some people like books that aren’t as erotically explicit as other. Not that there weren’t any steamy lovemaking scenes. They definitely had some heat and I loved not having to wait till the last quarter of the book for Primo and Giada to act on their feelings.
It just seemed to me that it was more of a wham bam thank you mam, than I tend to like. I think the intimate scenes were all less than one page from start to finish (though I could be wrong). The story was great though and I would give this one 4.25 stars overall. Though if I didn’t want more detail in the intimate scenes I would probably give it a 5.
I really liked Giada and Primo. Giada at first seemed to be a bit like a spoiled socialite. However, as the story went on she showed she was smart, unselfish and fun. Primo was a bit broody but I love that and he was a nice guy. There were a few surprises as well that I really liked. I love it when you get both the Hero and heroine point of view but you don’t know everything so they can do things you don’t expect.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
Open the pages of this book and you will get: a mafia princess, a cartel hitman and whole lot of action and a great amount of steam! I have been reading this author since her first book and I cannot get enough. This story was wonderful and I had a hard time putting it down.
The way these two characters meet, clash, bond and fall in love really heated up my kindle as well as made me want to find my onw hitman, lol. The author does a great job of really bringing the action from both sides of this story together with the romance. I think, I THINK this might be my favorite Five Families story yet. 4.50 stars.
This is the fourth book in the five families series and while I hadn’t read any of the previous books I had no trouble following it and you can bet I will be reading the earlier books very soon
This book from the word go is set up for conflict Giada Genovese is a Italian mafia princess while Primo is very high ranking in the Mexican Cartel They should be enemies but from the moment when she steal a lighter from him in a Las Vegas casino there is a connection. Soon he is tracking her all over the country and the attraction between them is off the charts but can they have a future together when there is so much between their families

I’m positive this series just continues to get better and better! I loved the plot of this one. It felt more light-hearted than the others, with its plentiful humor, but definitely retained its seriousness of the plot. Giada and Primo meet after she steals something from him, and he tracks her down. Instantly drawn to him, these two set out together…At least that’s what it *looks* like occurs in the book. There’s a lot of background that sets these two together. Primo is creative for sure.
Giada is a bit of a different character than we’ve seen yet in this series. Sarcasm is her weapon and she doesn’t take no for an answer. Despite his actions, I found Primo to be a sweetheart and he melted my heart. Together, they really are made for one another.
Overall great read and am looking forward to Filips’ book!
“You could rain down havoc on my life, and I still don’t think I could stay away.”
So I didn’t think anything could top Maria and Matteo’s story but my God.. Jill really shot this one out of the park! It had everything! The story line, the character development, the twists and turns which kept me flipping those pages until the early hours! And the writing style! Jill doesn’t just write books, she writes art!
“You’re a little crazy, you know that?”
Now I’ve loved Giada from the get go, from the little peeks we’ve had of her from the other books, but she’s so much MORE than the carefree wildchild we saw in previous books. She’s everything I love in a heroine, strong, sassy, independent, doesn’t take any shit and holds her own, but not in a bitchy way. She reminds me so much of myself, the way her family describes her is often how my family used to describe me (back in my early twenties before I settled down ) and that’s probably why I’ve always connected with her so much
“Giada was the most confident, headstrong woman I’d ever met. She bounded through life with charismatic purpose, enriching the lives of everyone around her.”
Primo Primo is just *sigh* *swoon* he gives himself a hard time over his feelings for Giada but he’s still attentive to her. This man has been through the ringer, he’s not just a typical bad boy with a tragic backstory, there’s so much more to him!
“I wasn’t sure if I wanted to knock her down from her high horse or worship at her majestic feet. Just like before, she stirred an inferno of conflicting emotions inside me.”
This story line was full of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, it was just SO GOOD!
So you all know I was shipping Giada and Filip, but Jill proved to us that they would clash BADLY and man am I glad because Giada and Primo are just EVERYTHING
I’m even more intrigued about Filip now though (you know which bit I’m talking about Jill ) and from the little breadcrumbs you dropped through this book I cannot wait for his story
Impossible Odds is book 4 in The Five Families Series by Jill Ramsower and can be read a s a standalone. The book centres on the delightful Giada Genovese, a mafia princess who takes no nonsense from anyone. On a night out in Vegas she comes across a stranger who she is instantly attracted too, but the feelings aren’t reciprocated. No harm, no foul for Giada as she walks away with her confidence intact, but no before she takes something from the mystery man that he wants back.
Primo isn’t going to let Giada get away with anything, mainly due to pride but also due to the fact that he is attracted to this mysterious beauty. The only problem is that Primo is part of the Cartel and the Cartel and the Mafia don’t mix.
What I really enjoyed about this book was the background we get about both Primo and Giada. Primo has had a tragic childhood and when secrets form that come to light it really does test his loyalties. He also tried so hard not to be attracted to Giada, but she just gets under his skin. We may not like everything this brooding man puts her through, but boy does he make up for his mistakes. Giada is a wonderful character, both vulnerable and strong, she has a mind of her own and she isn’t afraid to use it. I definitely think she was overlooked in her family, but you see the strength she has because like a queen, she doesn’t take anything lying down, she also doesn’t let Primo get away with anything and helps to crack his tough exterior.
This book is full of action and obstacles. We see into the mind of what it looks like to be part of the Cartel and what that means for relationships and power. I really enjoyed the background we get from Primo and how Giada helps him to move forward, even though they both have to take major risks to their lives. A fast paced, exciting read!
ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own.

This was an exciting read! It MAY even be my favorite of the Five Families series. Giada Genovese, daughter of the Consigliere for the Lucciano Crime Family and Primo, hitman for the Sonora Cartel, are most definitely unlikely couple considering they come from opposing sides. There’s absolutely no shortage of excitement in this book and lots of adventure. There’s surprises at every turn and nothing is as it seems. Impossible Odds has been a great adventure!
This series just keeps delivering! Now we find ourselves in Vegas, then back to NYC, then the beautiful beaches of Mexico for some serious trouble, courtesy of Giada and Primo. Giada is duped into believing she’s making moves for love, but she soon realizes just how wrong she was. And once it all hits the fan in a spectacular way, she’s rushed back to NYC with some very angry family just waiting to deal with her, shall we say spontaneous moves? And Primo finds himself in a whole new mess of trouble that he has to wade through to get back to the side of the woman he loves.
This story kept the promise of some darkness with strong women and the men who love them, so I can’t wait to see how Camilla manages to put Filip in his place, hopefully in the next book of this series!
