“This book was full of twists and turns and I loved the hell out of it!” -Abstract BooksHe was a vision of power and privilege.Ruthless arrogance personified.A total stranger and an irresistible challenge.I approached him in a busy casino and felt the sting of his brutal rejection. Then I did something incredibly brazen. Impulsive. Reckless.I stole from him.The object was inconsequential, only … stole from him.
The object was inconsequential, only worth a handful of dollars.
I didn’t do it for the money; it was about making a statement.
I went back home thousands of miles away without giving him a second thought until I spotted those quicksilver eyes glaring at me across a busy nightclub.
It was too impossible to be a coincidence.
Yet, there he was, seething with a violent promise of retribution.
He thought he’d intimidate me.
Hunt me down and make me pay.
What he didn’t realize was I don’t scare easily.
My name is Giada Genovese, and I’m a goddamn mafia princess.
**Impossible Odds is the fourth book in The Five Families Series but can be read as a standalone novel. This book is a mafia romance containing adult themes and may not be suitable for sensitive readers.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
This was my first Jill Ramsower book and I enjoyed it greatly. I now will have to go back and read the first three books in the Five Families. But what to say about this book….? Giada was so wonderful. I loved how she knew who she was and was confident in it. She didn’t apologize for it either. She knew what she liked and what she didn’t like. And her little “quirk” of petty theft….. And in this case, it was petty. And Primo, he also knows what he wants. These two are a perfect match for each other. Giada brings out a side of Primo that hasn’t been there since his mother died. And as the course of the book unfolds and secrets are uncovered, they learn to rely on each other. This book also has some suspense in it as it is a Mafia book. But if you are concerned about that, just remember, HEA! Definitely glad I read this. It has given me a new Mafia obsession!
Impossible Odds
A Mafia Romance (The Five Families, Book 4)
By: Jill Ramsower
Narrated by: Mackenzie Cartwright, Gomez Pugh
Whoever thought stealing a lighter would find you the love of your life? Giada is quite the woman. Not like her sisters, she is happy to go out and have a good time, and plays the part of the mafia princess she is. But she didn’t know what she was getting herself into. The man with the gorgeous eyes is Primo, assassin for a Mexican Cartel, and he is ready to get his property back! The attraction between the two is palpable, and their relationship, fast but true is scorching hot. There is a problem though. The Cartel has a problem with Giada’s family, and she may just be the key for them. Will Primo be willing to sacrifice Giada? Jill Ramsower’s Five Families series is so good, and this one just give us more to look forward to! Twists and turns, secrets unveiled, danger lurking and love like no other. I love these two. They have a chemistry like no other couple, and Primo truly understands Giada which is refreshing. The thrills are high and had me jumping and cringing with suspense! It pushes all the right buttons for me and I loved it!
Narrated by Mackenzie Cartwright and Gomez Pugh just enhanced this story. These two are amazing. Cartwright is so good in all her narrations, but I love how strong and sassy she made Giada. She was full of attitude and I enjoyed her! Pugh is new to me, and I loved him. The accents are fantastic and her created Primo as I would have heard him in my mind. His alpha sound is spot on and he brought him to life. This casting is perfection and you need to grab this audio!

“Leave it to me to fall for a criminal so dangerous that even my outlaw family didn’t approve.”
This one is really well-reviewed, so I don’t feel I need to summarize it because others have done that so well. I really liked Giada. She had a bit of a wild streak, she went with the flow, and she did her own thing, which is incredibly tough in her family. If there were ever a man suited for Giada’s wild spirit, it’s Primo. There were times I was really unhappy with him, so thank you Jill for writing so well that you had my emotions all over the place. I like that you can read this on its own, but if you’ve been following along in the series, the other characters make an appearance. Especially because Maria is still as bossy as ever. Overall, a really fun read and a great addition to the series.
Another great read
Giada’s story was an insta-love of epic and cataclysmic proportions. We all knew her story would be different based on her over the top personality introduced in the previous stories. She definitely seemed to find the perfect man for her. I didn’t enjoy the story as much as Maria’s, but it was still really good. Little kernels were dropped at the end of the story letting us know which way the Five Families may be heading next. Can’t wait!
This was my first book by the author but now I’m hooked and want to read more books by her because I really enjoyed this story and there are characters that I’m looking forward to their road to finding that well deserved happily ever after.
It’s dark and steamy and beautiful at the same time.
If you look for a new indie romance story this one is for you.
Ms. Ramsower has dialed in on the perfect formula for a mafia romance that will keep you on the edge of your seat!
I loved how Giada tries to get Primo’s attention! My girl parts were definitely tingling!
I loved so many things about this story! The steam, the intensity, the variety!
I love mafia romance, and Ramsower, as I said at the beginning of this review writes it exceptionally!!!!!
I received an advanced reader copy, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
4 Stars!! So I liked most of this book. This was the first book I’ve read in the series ‘The Five Families’ & book 4 in the series. I would’ve liked more info in the epilogue and I wasn’t a fan of Gianna or Primo, the main characters. I have a few unanswered questions but nothing huge. This was a good book, all in all, I’m just not a fan of mafia/cartel romances, but if you’re into this genre, I’d say check this book out.
*I am voluntarily leaving a review for an ARC that was provided to me by NetGalley!*
Giada the mafia princess has met her match in Primo the cartel hitman. Who would have thought taking something from him as little as lighter would turn into something, but then again was their meeting really accidental? I am telling you, you need to grab yourself a copy and enjoy the ride you will be on while reading this book.
What is a smart and sassy mafia princess to do when she “runs” into from someone from her last girls trip? When these two first meet who would have thought we would get this hot, steamy, suspenseful, jam packed love story from these two. Their story is not an easy one and the road they have to travel to get to their HEA is one filled with lots of emotion and steam. Giada is just as she was in the previous books. She is smart, classy, and she can hold her own when she needs too. Primo is not a man that you want to double cross, I mean hello cartel hitman… Need I say more?

This is an exciting, action packed story with mild steam. My only pet peeve was the H and h were gorgeous and rich. Even though I liked her spunk, I was disappointed that Giada’s greatest accomplishment was spending the day shopping at the mall. And Primo was a gorgeous specimen with his straight nose and strong jaw even though he spent his youth in a fighting ring. I like my characters to be a little less perfect.
I received a free copy from Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.
Impossible Odds is the 4th book in The Five Families series, but can be read as a standalone. The only other book I have read in this series is Forever Lies, which is Alessia and Luca’s story and the first book in the series.
This book was intense. When you have a mafia princess and cartel hitman cross all types of boundaries in their pursuit of lust, attraction, vengeance, or love, you just its a story that’s going to deliver a lot of action.
Giada Genovense (Alessia’s cousin) is headstrong, stubborn and defiant. She thrived on stealing items of no significant value from others just for the thrill that it gave her. Giada didn’t really have plans or goals for the future. She was different than her sisters and cousin. She was fierce, bold and straight forward. During a night out at a casino in Vegas, Giada sets her eyes on a brooding, sexy stranger, Primo a/k/a Javi, who she sees has his eyes settled in the area her sisters were at. Primo – what can I say about someone as complicated as Primo? I loved his character. Sometimes I felt that he needed a hug while other times I wanted to slap some sense.
There were so many twist and turn in Giada and Primo’s relationship. The two were weary of each other from the very beginning, but it didn’t stop them from pursuing each other and exploring the chemistry between them.
I love the way the Five Family Series centers around strong female leads and the men who can’t help but fall in love with them.
5 STARS for Impossible Odds by Jill Ramsower
ARC received from Netgalley / Publisher and author in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are my own and have not been influenced in any way.
Impossible Odds can be read as a stand alone – however , it is part of a great series this being Book 4 in the Five Families. There are some interconnecting characters from previous books that make appearances in Impossible Odds. All the books I’ve read to date I have rated 5 STARS.
Where to begin – the story of Giada and Primo / Javier – Javi is based in the mafia world of a Mexican cartel and New York mafia. What did I love about this story …. so many things …
Fast paced / great storytelling
Great main characters
Supportive family and secondary characters
Sizzling chemistry and humor too
Lots of action to keep you on your toes and some great plot twists
HEA
And yes I am a real sucker for nicknames – in this case Giada’s is Viborita ( translates to The Little Viper ) the sultry brunette with the mischievous snake eyes and sharp wit !!!
Giada has never been understood so completely by a man before and she falls hard for Primo. He has not been completely honest with her and she wonders how it is possible to fall for a criminal so dangerous that ever her outlaw family doesn’t approve …
The sign for me of a great book is not wanting to read The End – loved this book in the series and highly recommend Impossible Odds as well as anything in The Five Families series by Ms Ramsower.
This read had a bit of a twist from the other books in this series — mafia vs. the cartel and it made for some suspenseful, mysterious moments. Exciting mafia storyline that focuses on Giada and Primo but also revisits some of the characters from the previous books in the Five Families Series. If you like dark, intense mafia reads, you’ll love this one! I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.
„You could rain down havoc on my life, and I still don’t think I could stay away.”
I love me some mafia romance, and while Impossible Odds was my first read by Jill Ramsower, I became instantly obsessed! This author’s storytelling is excellent, I got sucked right from the start and couldn’t put this book down until the end. Primo and Giada’s love story is filled to the brim with heat, suspense and so many feels! I need to catch up with the previous books in this series, because I’m completely addicted!
Giada is a strong and independent woman, despite being portaited as a black sheep of her family. In reality she’s a confident, headstrong and charming person, who has the ability to enthrall everyone around her. I adored her boldness and her defiance. She gives as much as she gets and that’s exactly why she was a perfect match for Primo.
Primo has this mysterious aura around him that made me instantly captivated by his character. At first he seems to be cold, detached and arrogant, but as I got to know him better I saw a man who is protective and thoughtful. He’s the perfect alpha, totally dangerous, but also caring when it comes to his loved ones.
Their love story is by no means a fairytale. It’s a series of lies, deceits and manipulations. However, their chemistry is so explosive, and the attraction is so strong that neither danger nor threats are able to keep them away from each other. This couple has an unique connection, such a magnetism, that I was holding my breath and keeping my fingers crossed every time there was an obstacle on their way.
Impossible Odds is a perfect mafia romance. It’s full of twists and turns, dangerous situations and incredibly hot scenes. I loved Primo and Giada and all of side characters in this story. Jill Ramsower found a new fan and I’m super excited to read the other books in The Five Families series!
4.75 stars
This is the fourth book in the Five Families series and the first one I have read. It can be read as a standalone without having to read the other books. This is Giada and Primo’s story and it is as mercurial as Vegas itself. From the first time Giada stepped into Primo’s orbit, the two were inexplicably drawn to each other. Giada is a force to be reckoned with, in more ways than one. Primo is the ultimate alpha male, who when crossed, is the type to take no prisoners. However, when their worlds collide, who will be the last one standing? This is one engrossing read from beginning to end filled with wit, steam and high-octane action. I volunteered to read a copy of this book provided by Netgalley.
What a great story this was. This was the first book that I’ve read in this series. I’m glad I didn’t miss this one.
I will say that at first I wasn’t sure that I was going to even like Giada. But as time went on I fell totally in love with this unique, brash young woman. She definitely lived life full throttle, with no apologies and was incredibly interesting. She comes across as selfish for quite a while. That is until you dig a bit deeper into her as the story goes on.
I have to say that there is NOT one boring person in this whole story. They all had a of of depth to them as well as many being pretty dangerous too.
There was really good world building with good , interesting descriptions of surroundings which felt like it was just right.
Primo was one huge, gorgeous “box” of surprises. Don’t forget also how dangerous he was too! But like all the other characters, he is also a man with many layers . I was delighted with how Giada described him later on. It was all in her head of course, but it was pretty darn good and felt accurate. She saw him as “refined, with a razor-sharp jagged edge and infinitely complicated. ” I loved the fact that we got both of the main characters points of views. Giada might have had to follow her instincts and reason and guess some things about Primo but we got the inside scoop. And that caused me to like him more and more too. It also put the light on just how dangerous his pursuing Giada is. Still, they do find time to engage in some pretty steamy sex when Primo isn’t trying to stay away from her. For both their good, of course. The tension is kept tight throughout the story. A lot of that tension also comes from Primo’s boss Nazario Vargas (Naz). Naz was one over the top dangerous man who was easy to see was one crazy dude. That made him even more dangerous, because he was already suspicious of everyone and everything, and he’s also extremely manipulative. His brother Juan might not be as nuts as his brother but that doesn’t make him less dangerous.
In later chapters, Giada and Primo did something that I thought was kind of careless when you consider how paranoid Naz is. So I wasn’t surprised to see that come back to bite them in the butt. But there were plenty of surprises that showed up in the story and it kept me totally involved until the end. The Epilogue was a good touch as well, to a an intense, enjoyable story.
“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
love my mafia books and this one reach my standard, great story with even more amazing characters that you will fall in love. Love how Jill wrote her story and how we got to know her deeper and how she created her perfect match, and he is going to make you fall for him. Highly recommended definitely one of my favorites books of her.
This is the fourth book in The Five Families Series, an amazing Mafia Romance Series. You can read this story as a standalone, but really, you don’t want to miss one book in the Series. I love these series with interconnected characters. Primo and Giada’s story is suspenseful, fast-paced, and captivating. I loved it! I can’t wait for the audiobook version. I HIGHLY recommend this book, and this Series. I can’t wait for the next book in the Series!
Mafia romance with a twist!
Primo and Giana’s story was a fun look at the unpredictable romances in the mafia world.
A mafia princess and a Mexican cartel hitman…except they didn’t know this small detail when they met!
How their story evolved, for me, was quirky and just fun!
They both gave as good as they got. Their snarky and sometimes funny exchanges was delicious!
Hot romance, mystery and intrigue, the unexpected twists made this read unputdownable!
Even though this is book 4 in The 5 Families, it can certainly be read as a standalone. I had not read all the prior books and I had no trouble reading and understanding this story.
Impossible Odds by Jill Ramsower is book 4 in The Five Families Series. This is the story of Giada Genovese and Primo. I have read the previous books (and Loved them!) but feel you can make this a standalone book. Giada is the cousin of Maria who story was told in that book but this will be Giada story with Primo who we have also met in the previous books. Primo had a terrible childhood from loosing his family to living on the streets until around twelve he was taken in by Naz who is a Cartel Kingpin. Now in their present day Primo is a strong part of the Cartel. Giada is a mafia princess who is a person onto herself. Giada works to be independent but when she happens to see Primo in Vegas she does try to catch his attention but he turns her down. Giada does a little revenge steeling thinking to server her justice to him. But Primo ends up tracking her down and that starts their dance to love. Their story along with this series is nothing but a page turning read for me.
I received an ebook ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Giada is strong and fiercely independent. She has never needed a man, but now she wants this one. Bad. Bad enough that she would do pretty much anything to get him.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I had a hard time putting it down. I’m never sure about series because a lot of them repeat and have the same storyline, but Jill really brings a new story with every single book. I love getting a deeper understanding of Giada and Primo in the dual perspective storyline. Giada knows what she wants and goes for it, not caring what anyone thinks, because she knows who she is; she’s a mafia princess and proud of it.
