Imperfect Match is swoonworthy romance. Melanie Harlow and Corinne Michaels have teamed up to write another beautiful story that touched my heart. Their collaboration is seamless, and their storytelling is flawless.
As characters go, Willow and Reid are terrific. Best friends forever, until matchmaking and unexpected feelings came into play. The ups and downs of their relationship had me smiling, but there was heartache, too. The emotional pull of this story is exactly what I was in the mood for when I started, and I finished feeling completely satisfied. 4.5 stars!
Raise your hand if you’re a best-friends-to-lovers fan! Imperfect Match was written just for you!
You need to meet Reid and Willow—otherwise known at best friends who live in Denialville. Seriously, the connection, the friendship between these two is the perfect basis for something more, something amazing. Something sexy AF!
But also so damn scary—their friendship is so very important. And neither Reid nor Willow want to ruin what they have by potentially having more. But life and Fate has a way of mixing things up . . .
Reid and Willow are perfect for each other. They know the other so well, know their thoughts. Their wants. Their needs. And their fears. And their stubborn streaks.
I couldn’t help but rood for Reid and Willow to finally figure it out—figure out that they could be friends and lovers and really have it all! And once they did. Swoon. Some serious swoons.
Corinne Michaels and Melanie Harlow come together again to pen another irresistible, addictive love story. The styles of these two authors blend perfectly in this best-friends-to-lovers romance. Michaels runs readers through the gamut of gut-wrenching emotions as this couple fights their way through difficult personal histories, painful past experiences and future hopes and dreams to get to their happily ever after. Harlow soothes those frayed emotions with the hefty doses of swoony, sweet romance, scintillating passion, and playful banter.
Reid and Willow had tremendous chemistry and a rock-solid friendship as their foundation. Not once did they cross the line—they both were looking for very different things. Unlucky in love, Willow was ready to move to the next stage in her life, with or without a man. Reid didn’t have the best luck when it came to romantic relationships either, but it just felt so natural and so right when their platonic relationship turned passionate that they were powerless to fight the pull of those feelings. I was drawn right into the push and pull of their should-we/could-we uncertainties and all the tumultuous emotions of that time. But with every high, there was a low, and my heart ached as they struggled to work through those issues and emotions. It wasn’t all heavy, heart-tugging emotion, though. This couple had an effortlessly comfortable, in-sync vibe in their relationship, and their friendship always shone through the heat of their attraction for plenty of light-hearted, fun moments along with the excitement of their newfound physical relationship.
Imperfect Match packed all the feels within in its pages, and I felt every single one of them. Harlow’s sweetness softened the edges of Michaels’ angst, and their writing meshed together beautifully in this engrossing best-friends-turned-lovers romance. Michaels weaved her angsty magic in all its gut-wrenching glory. Harlow tempered that emotion with layers of sweet romance and sizzling chemistry that added depth and richness making this a memorable love story that I simply did not want to put down. This author collaboration is anything but imperfect, and I’ll be right here hoping and waiting for more from these two perfectly matched authors. Five smooches from me for Imperfect Match by Corinne Michaels and Melanie Harlow!

OMG for an Imperfect Match Reid and Willow were positively adorable and absolutely perfect for each other. I can’t say enough about how much I enjoy Corinne & Melanie’s collaborations! They are both amazing authors separately but together they are magical. Their words evoke all the feels from me and leave me with a full heart and a smile on my face. I enjoyed every single page of this sweet and sexy story about two best friends who finally come to the realization that they feel a whole lot more than the friendship kind of love for each other once Willow is tasked with finding Reid’s perfect match. But they both want different futures, so this could not be more complicated. Reid must confront his past to be able to move on and be the future Willow wants and deserves. Love Willow and Reid so much!!!! Love, Love, Love this book!!!!!
Ladies clear your calendars, cause you’re not going to want to put this one down! Willow and Reid are absolutely perfect for each other; they already spend all their time together and get along wonderfully – the only thing missing is the sexy times. And once they start, there’s no stopping the connection that pulls these two together.
“This is crazy, but I don’t care. It’s right. It’s everything that finally makes sense. I wondered what it would be like and now I know – it’s f*cking perfect.”
*Le Sigh* I mean, come on…that’s the swoony stuff dreams are made of! And believe me, you’ll find knee-weakening lines like that splattered all throughout.
“That girl can be the most uptight, persnickety little thing on the planet, day to day, but in bed she was all liquid fire.”
But everything isn’t all sunshine and rainbows *cue the angsty music*. While no one dies (woohoo – Harlow 1, Michaels 0), Reid hurt my heart; he’s just so broken and I want nothing more than to fix him with my love!! *Doing my best Lady Gaga impersonation*
“Deep in my heart, I want to be those things for her…but I’m scared. I have no idea how to be the man that she deserves.”
The thing that drove me insane was that he refused to accept that he already was that man. He didn’t need to do anything special to gain her affection; Willow already loved him for who he was, all he needed to do was to just be himself and continue being the man she had fallen in love with.
“How did I not see just how his imperfections make him perfect for me.”
Melanie Harlow and Corinne Michaels deliver a witty, sexy, sweet friends to lovers romance filled with so much heart, it’ll get you right in the feels. I absolutely cannot wait to see what’s next for this phenomenal writing duo!
OML!! Amazing book. These two were sublimely perfect. Their friendship was humorous and the love they felt for each other was beautiful. It truly isn’t one of those friends to lovers type of tropes that takes forever to get through. They had their own bumps in the road that made it slightly different, which made the book that much better.
I voluntarily reviewed this book from the authors. It is definitely a one-click, and I implore you to do that RIGHT NOW!!
Love, Love Reid and Willow.
They have been best friends forever and don’t have any romantic towards each other or do they? See, Willow works for her Mom’s match making business and needs to prove herself, so she tells her mom that she can find the perfect match for Willow BUT what happens when her Mom already has Reid a perfect match?
I loved seeing Reid and Willow together.
This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
This sweet read went down nice and easy, which is just what the doctor ordered in our current stressful times. Melanie Harlow and Corinne Michaels make a great pair.
Imperfect Match is a friends to lovers romance. It’s a trope that I find works best when the change in relationship status happens gradually rather than a lightning bolt Oh my gosh, my best friend is sexy moment. I feel like this book does a pretty good job of allowing Willow and Reid to increasingly and somewhat reluctantly come to terms with their romantic feelings.
Their friendship is well established. I loved their fun routines and the strong bond they share. It made me long for a best guy friend like Reid. My fondness for them didn’t change when they became lovers. They truly are perfect together, except…
Willow is a woman who is determined to have children as soon as possible—if not with a boyfriend or husband, then through a sperm donor. Reid is diehard anti-children. This was never a secret to either of them. I understood Willow’s rush to have kids, but Reid’s misgivings seem lame. I did not understand why they would start a romantic relationship knowing they are fundamentally opposed on this major issue. How could they then be surprised and frustrated when it becomes a roadblock?
There are some lovable side characters, including Willow’s new age tree hugger sister and Reid’s freeloader brother. Coupled with Willow and Reid’s chemistry, this is a very entertaining rom com.
This is a friends to lovers story that has absolutely all of the feels!!
I truly enjoyed this book. Especially since it was co-written by two of my favorite authors! Corrine and Melanie write so amazing separately that this book couldn’t be anything but fantastic.
I loved the characters, the humor, the banter.. (I’m all about good banter!!!)
The story was fantastic, I’m completely in love with Reid and Willow’s story. Friends-to-lovers is one of my all-time favorite tropes to read. I highly recommend this book.
I’m a fan of Corinne Michaels and Melanie Harlow so I was stoked to read this collaborative effort from the duo. While I did really enjoy the book overall, there a few things that bugged me a little. The book is very fast paced, which generally I enjoy, but in this case I feel like more time could’ve been spent on certain aspects of the plot: mainly, how Reid and Willow became best friends and the resolution of their bump in the road. It’s like they were both in a state of lust induced amnesia/denial and then all of a sudden ish hit the fan. That being said, I did really like Willow and Reid and we got a glimpse of some depth within each of them and as a couple that I just wish was explored a bit more. I felt a little rushed and would’ve loved a bit more meat at certain parts of the story. But the heat and heart are there and if the duo decided to give us Aspen and Leo’s story (or stories) I’d definitely be down to read that too. 3.5 out of 5 wine glasses.
This lighthearted, friends to lovers story was so sexy and cute and fun! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I listened to the audiobook, which was narrated by the talented Andi Arndt and Jason Clarke. They nailed it.
A friends to lovers romance that you won’t be able to put down.
I loved these two characters. A perfect match as friends but will they cross the boundary?
Reid and Willow do everything together, they spend so much time with each other they haven’t even thought about looking for love, they are both content with each other’s company.
Willows mother owns a relationship match agency and Willow is supposed to be taking over following her retirement which she suddenly announced will be sooner rather than later. Willow doesn’t have the best skills at matching people together and helping them to find love. When Willows mother threatens her future position at the match agency because she hasn’t made enough matches she then challenges her to find Reid a future wife or the business is going to her sister. This challenge begins to stir feelings in both Willow and Reid when Willow has to then search on their books for his match, neither want to admit they have feelings for each other but also don’t want the other to find someone else either, this challenge gives them the push they both needed.
Willow is desperate to settle down get married and have a baby but Reid because of his father and the example he set with his own marriage to his mother doesn’t want either. They may be a perfect match in some things but this is a big issue for both of them once they admit their feelings for each other.
This is a sweet romance at times, it has laugh out loud moments, I loved Willow’s sister who brought humour to the plot with her wacky ways. The balance was perfect, the humour, the addition of likeable characters, the seriousness, hotness, IMPERFECT MATCH is definitely an all-rounder and it was a feel-good romance that ticks all the boxes.
I have read a similar book before so this isn’t unique but I would definitely recommend for the feel-good factor.
So Reid and Willow were definitely Imperfect Match who actually made more sense than any Perfect Match. Melanie Harlow & Corinne Michaels are truly gifted to tell us stories in such an emotional and life altering manner that I can think of. I am a huge fan of Corinne Michaels but slowly Melanine Harlow is winning me over and turning me in to her fan.
Willow and Reid- the perfectly imperfect couple I couldn’t help but love, root for and then want bang their heads together all within the same sentence.
A buffet of emotions, with an of an explosion of spices and humor rounding out the experience – a Bestfriends to lovers tale I thoroughly enjoyed!
Quick fun read from 2 great authors I really enjoyed this one
