“He’s tender without being trite and without even knowing it, he’s threading my heart back together in the shape of him.”
I rushed to read Impact because I’m a huge fan of the authors, not even caring what it was about. I’ll follow them wherever they lead, their talent speaks for itself and I’m never disappointed. But, I am surprised. This story is different than their others, it touches on an area that is painful to read, it’s heartbreaking and soul shoring. It reminded me of the power of love… the magic.
This one of those stories. I’m not going to bother teasing you with tidbits. I’m just going to implore you to read it, and then just try and forget it afterward. Good luck.
This was such an emotional read but in a good way. I loved how it took an awful incident that Zoe had went through and showed the readers that we may never truly know what another person is going through so we always need to be respectful of each other. I also liked how it touched on the subject that because someone has endured a traumatic event we as humans sometimes do not truly know how to handle these situations; we may overlook, brush off, or try too hard to force a person out of their shell before they are ready and sometimes all they need is space, just being present without speaking, and kind words of encouragement where needed. Zoe’s story was incredible, she may just be living day to day as a shell of herself but she is at least trying. I found her to be incredibly brave to try to go out of her comforts zone by making friends and eventually talking to Tripp. Tripp was an incredible human being, he was more than understanding and had the patience of a Saint. I think if Zoe hadn’t found the courage to make friends and let Tripp into her life she would still be struggling because through finding her tribe she found strength in them that helped her. The authors took a sensitive subject but wrote such a beautiful story to show us readers how others may cope, deal with things, and how we can help them.
Impact by Haley Jenner is my second six-star read of the year and I am in total awe of this book. First, let me preface my glowing review by letting you know this book may be a trigger for some. Be prepared; the primary theme of the book is sexual assault. Saying that, from the first line of the first chapter, you’re not just reading you’re transported. Zoe isn’t just a character on the page, you are Zoe. I think as a woman I automatically had this reaction because any of us could easily be Zoe. Whether it’s your Mother, your best friend, your daughter or you. Sexual assault is something as a woman we think about every day, that we constantly caution are daughters of what to be on the lookout for. Don’t drink without a buddy, don’t go somewhere alone, have your keys in hand before you’re out of the building to the car, it’s become so constant that we don’t even question it. Impact takes you into the soul of a survivor, in a way that is unapologetic about the aftermath of her attack.
The beauty in this book is the rebirth that we witness, and it’s not fast or simple but it’s so perfectly imperfect. And the love story between Zoe and Tripp, well it’s no easy go either. Tripp is the man that makes you believe in love and goodness again. Not in a cheesy roll your eyes sort of way, but authentically and sincerely.
I’m going to leave my review short, believe me; it is worth it to experience this book. And I hope what I’ve written is enough for you to give it a try.
Congratulations to the authors (yes authors, Haley Jenner is two people) for writing an exceptional story and thank you for allowing me to be a part of it.

Zoe Lincoln reminded me of a “Phoenix”….literally combust into Flames then Reborn from her Ashes to symbolize Strength & Renewed.
Then throw in Tripp Tanner into the mix with a “To Good To Be True” patience and his belief in Magic. He was such a Breathe of Fresh Air for Zoe to make her pinch herself to make sure she was REAL and the Man Before Her. Tripp Tanner is EVERYTHING!!

“I love every facet of your warrior soul. Every reinforced wall of your heart.”
Wow, this book was so good! Impact by Haley Jenner was an impulse buy for me and I’m so glad I did! This book will make you feel so many emotions. I feel as if I have been put through a storm of feelings and ever so gently put back together again. I will be looking for more books by Haley Jenner in the future!
5 Amazing Stars! Haley & Jenner never let me down with their awesome stories! Zoe’s journey was heartbreaking, emotional, tearful and beautiful! I love Tripp he was there years later helping Zoe build and put her life back together, he is amazing and swoon worthy!
Impact by Haley Jenner is a must read book. There are triggers but the author warns you upfront. Beautifully told story of survival and learning to find love again, including love for yourself.
See, knowing what I do about Haley Jenner, I know that whenever I start a book of theirs, I know I have to buckle in because there will be one heck of an emotional ride ahead. Impact, of course, is no different. The title of this book couldn’t be more apt, either. Zoe’s story really does leave an impact on your soul.
Zoe’s road isn’t an easy one to be on, and with Haley Jenner’s vast talent, you’re able to feel every emotion she does; all the hurt, the trauma, the anguish, but also the happiness, the strength, and the will to move forward. Easily one of my favorite heroines to date. While I would never wish her circumstances on anyone, her ability to open her heart back up is inspiring.
And Tripp, wow. He truly is the stuff book boyfriends are made of. I couldn’t be more in love with him if I wanted. His calming presence, his desire to always put Zoe first, and the love he has for his dove, well… it’s simply magic.
Prepare yourself for a hard hitting journey between Zoe and Tripp, but one that’s also so full of love. Of hope. Of witnessing a woman with a warrior soul.
Taylor/Zoe has been violated in the most horrible of ways. She changed her name and moved away from everyone that loved her. A new start to try to pick up the pieces of her shattered life. When she decides to venture out of her comfort zone and meet new people her life changes in unimaginable ways.
This was my first Haley Jenner book and I can’t wait to read more of their work. Impact is so emotional. As someone who has never lived through a trauma like Zoe’s I know I can never totally understand the feelings Zoe has, but the author did an amazing job of giving us insight. The flash backs of her past and her daily struggles with even the simplest human interactions are heartbreaking. Tripp’s compassion and patience make him a man anyone could fall in love with. Impact will give you all the feels!
This book is a wonderful surprise. It is the first book I have by this author and now, I want to read everything she has written. This is an enthralling story that is both wonderful and gut wrenching. It has twists and turns I didn’t see coming and characters that are perfectly written and easy to relate to. This will be on my best books read in 2020.
I feel like this one has been fairly well reviewed so I’m going to skip that portion and just get down to my impressions. I borrowed this one because I saw a friend read it and love it. I normally don’t have a hard time rating a book, and I’ve fluctuated back and forth between 3 and 4 stars, so I’m going to leave it at 4.
Things I liked:
As a sufferer with PTSD for very different reasons, I can completely relate to Zoe’s plight, the hypervigilance, the mistrust, the panic and need to hide out from the world, screams symptoms, and I felt my heart break for Zoe and the struggle to move on from such a horrific event.
I loved her book club friends and aside from Rae (who is just amazing, she knows how to listen, she pushes Zoe when she needs it, and she demonstrates time and again true friendship), we didn’t get a ton from them. Perhaps in a different book, we would have come to really love them more than we already do, but going into depth with all of them would have derailed the goal of the book. Zoe found a great support system.
Zoe’s quiet strength. Because even when she thought she lacked any, it was evident in everything she did. The fact that she was alive speaks volumes alone without the other ways she demonstrates it throughout the book.
Tripp- He’s a good man, a patient man. The things he says to Zoe is heart-melting. I admire his ability to see her strength from the start. and We could use some more Tripp’s in the world.
Things I didn’t like:
Tripp sometimes spoke in short, stilted sentences, and it was endearing at first, but it wasn’t consistent. But then in a phone conversation, Brady was doing it, and I didn’t like it at all. Because men don’t talk like that, and it can’t be a unique trait to Tripp when Brady is doing it too.
In chapter 20, Zoe starts a phone conversation, and while I guess I should have assumed it was Rae, we don’t actually find out it’s Rae until after the phone convo was done.
Tripp calling Zoe Dove after their second conversation. He tells us in the book he knew there was something wrong with her from the get-go, and a nickname as such right off the bat seemed like bad timing to me.
I thought the book was fairly well-done, it definitely wasn’t easy subject material. It could have been hit or miss going into the detail of the rape, and I think the book would have been fine without the length of detail, but it did make an impact. It was a joy to watch Tripp and her friends work on the walls she spent so long building.
Impact is an extremely emotional story that will have you in tears, laughing, and picking your jaw off the floor. It truly takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions from start to finish, as you watch the evolution of Zoe from a woman who is barely existing to a woman who takes back control of her life and starts living again. With the help of good friends (Rae….I love her), and an amazing man (Tripp…..swoon), Zoe works to break free of the chains of the past and be the woman she was meant to be.
Zoe is barely living because of a traumatic event. Her future hopes & dreams are gone. She’s alone, living in New York & desperately hopes everyday that she continues to stay invisible. Until one day Tripp enters the coffee place where she works at. And he keeps coming back, hoping to catch a glimpse of the quiet girl with the sad eyes. All it takes is a surprise encounter between the two for a slow friendship to be born. What Tripp doesn’t know is the girl with the sad eyes doesn’t trust anyone, and she doesn’t believe or have faith in anything anymore. What Zoe doesn’t know is that Tripp is intrigued & sees something in her, and is willing to go to great lengths to bring some sort of light to her dark. But what happens when you find the boy your falling in love with is tied to her violent past?
This was a very emotional read. What happened to Zoe made her shut down, anxious, & alone. She decides to join a book club, where she meets a group of people just as awkward as her, finally giving her a group of friends she can relate to. Tripp is patient & gives Zoe all control to make her feel comfortable & safe. As Zoe continues to take baby steps out of her comfort zone, she’s rocked to the core by a devastating revelation about Tripp. These two must navigate their way to find out if it’s worth going through the dark to find the light at the end of the tunnel. An amazing read & I look forward to reading more from this author!
Emotional and intense! Worth way more than 5 stars!
Utterly beautiful, raw and intense. These are only some of the words I could use to describe this beautifully written story.
Right from the first few words Zoe’s story had me hooked. It ripped my heart out, stomped on it, then shoved it back in my chest. There are only a few books out there that could make me feel so emotional and this was definitely one of those books! While reading I felt rage, hatred, love for friendship and unconditional love. I can’t even form the right words in order to describe how this story made me feel.
These authors did an amazing job with this story. Incredible, incredible, incredible!
Bravo!
This was an emotional, somewhat heavy read at times, but the resilience, strength and love of both Tripp Tanner and Zoe Lincoln was on every page. To follow along on their journey was heartbreaking sometimes. The love, support, understanding and complete acceptance of each other and secondary characters is what made this story beautiful. I can’t say enough good things about Tripp Tanner and Zoe Lincoln. Definitely a worthy read
IMPACT…
The title is perfection as it certainly left an impression on me.
The story was beautifully written, an emotional journey as we go through Zoe’s discovery of coming back to life, trying to rid the nightmare of her past. All the wonderful characters we met playing an excellent role, delivering their own strength in different ways. She is a warrior.
Tripp Tanner was one of the most insightful, compassionate men I have come across. I was in awe of how he handled himself in this story.
“No one is strong all the time, dove. Anyone tells you different, they’re lying. Weakness isn’t a flaw, it doesn’t take away from the strength in your person. Hardships are a fundamental part of life. Likely one of the most important essentials of life.”
There were a lot of heart wrenching moments, I felt for Brady too. This was a powerful book. As sad as it was, it was counteracted by the uplifting, comical banter of Rae and Dex, the friends everyone needs in their corner. There was also a twist that I never saw coming. I just loved it all.
This was a book I believe everyone needs to read. It made me think outside the box, it gave me a new perspective on how I should maybe interact with someone in Zoe’s position. I love a book I learn from.
This book is just Beautiful! I loved every single page. The writing is flawless and the story made me cry, laugh and love. It’s simply amazing!
This book knocked the wind right out me! It’s beautifully written, and such a beautiful story of survival, love and the human spirit! It’s a must read! MUST!
Discovery of the month!
“Impact” caught my eye through the cover. I was planning to read this position in the near future, but when I won the ARC in the competitio, I thought why I can read this book now? I took up and really found the discovery of the month.
Zoe Lincoln lost her body, mind and soul. It was brutally taken away her during one of the club events when drugged, which was in the soda, then raped by a man who previously refused.
The woman fought in court for justice, but do not have sufficient evidence or a good lawyer, in order to win this fight. Closed to the world and no longer trust men not so much as to men. Therapist prompted her to write down the book club, as an afterthought, Zoe fitted. She said, however, that it will not rely on your real name, but will be Taylor. Zoe closed the chapter of Lincoln and never wanted to come back to it.
The club quickly found a friend that she could say anything, and surprised by this fact stated that it is worth to try again to open up to new people.
In the cafe where she worked was a waitress and one day unfortunately she spilled coffee on the man who ordered this particular drink.
She met Tripp Tanner, who was a lawyer.
A man whos she told the truth about rape.
A man who turned out to be someone who should be treated as an enemy.
But the feeling between them was too strong to be able to change the course of this rushing toward them an avalanche.
From the outset, the author throw us into deep water.
From the very beginning we have a situation which met Zoe and, although it is described smoothly, without much detail and it hurts so this book.
Genuinely.
The subject of violence in the books is something you do not want a total read. The authors tempted for such, and not another story but still it is a difficult subject it coped with it really well.
Zoe because she is here without a doubt, the main character is an average girl who does not like events, and will return the book. Pushed, admit the friend to go to the club, finally decides to exit, which turns out to be the worst night for her in life so far.
And only now it begins the real story – a painful, difficult and extremely real.
Haley Jenner deeply penetrated into the psyche of Zoe. Showed it lost, in a closed and destroyed. Lincoln by memories of what happened at a glance you can see the change in the girl. Zoe is afraid of people, I do not trust them, he thinks that everyone wants to hurt her. You remember every second of that night and every day trying to survive. Tripp, who from the beginning turns out to be helpful, a young man, as subsequent meetings becomes her friend, whom you can trust. Do not push, do not touch it without permission or trying to go with her through the nightmare that survived. He learns the truth about Zoe and that night, and the truth that makes changing your mind about everything so far known.
“Impact” is the story, which penetrates deeply into the heart and not allow themselves to be forgotten. The position that shows how violence affects the human psyche and changes, but also how you can pick up after him, and begin to live again. First of all, fight for justice and not be afraid to go to court with this. Maybe you will not cry bitter tears while reading the reading, but I guarantee you that you will experience a whole range of emotions in the heart and face. “Impact” is a blow, which you should read.
I was very intrigued by the fairly vague blurb for Impact and not having read anything by these authors before, I was excited to dive in.
I’m not sure what I was expecting from this story but the gut wrenching emotions I felt as I read took me completely by surprise. This book deals with some heavy subject matter, which at times was really difficult to read. Although certain aspects of the story are graphic, they’re dealt with in a respectful, not sensational manner. Zoe’s feelings of helplessness and therefore her need to be in control were valid and understandable. A damaged soul who’s mostly cut herself off from her previous life in an attempt to start afresh. She’s living the best way she can but it’s no life really, she’s just going through the motions.
As Zoe’s story unfolds, we are introduced to some fantastic supporting characters who encourage her to step back into the light and, despite her fears, make her aware of how courageous she actually is. Once Tripp enters her life, he sets about demolishing the protective walls she’s built around herself with care and understanding. He’s a wonderful hero and I loved his personality and his thoughts and feelings on life. He tries to work out what she needs and inject some much needed optimism into her life. However, I felt their mutual attraction happened rather quickly and their developing relationship had me concerned that the trauma of the past was about to be trivialised and swept away “by the love of a good man”. Oh how wrong I was. I won’t say any more as I don’t wish to be spoilery, just prepare for the unexpected!
Impact is an excellent title for this emotional rollercoaster of a book. My first read by these authors but certainly not my last.
