“Immortals’ Requiem is a book that I enthusiastically recommend to fantasy readers. Vincent Bobbe is a gifted storyteller – the ease with which he explains events is flawless. His descriptions of different scenes are exceptionally vivid, and his world-building ability is remarkable. I pictured the settings with absolute clarity, and it has been a long time since I have felt so involved in an original world.”

I loved it! This is a great novel it’s a thriller to the core. It’s full of horror and death but also full of bravery and comradery that’s honest at its core. It’s a fantastic world full of fantasy heroes and villains. It’s also vicious and has some really nasty parts. If you have a weak stomach is not for you. There’s also triggers when it comes to rape and abuse. If you’re pregnant you might want to avoid it. I highly recommend it. It was definitely a wild ride!

Good start for a first book and first in series. This was a great read, can’t wait to read more of this series. Lots of mystery, various creature types, deities and battles. Great story line and interesting characters. Definitely recommended for fans of Epic Grim Dark Fantasy series.
Oh boy, that was …something. The only thing I can compare it to is the very much referenced in this book, Lord of the rings, meeting the movie Slither. It sure had the same fantasy style with different creatures and fey at conflict, but in a more modern setting … plus all the gore, Rape baby-tentacle thingies and people soiling themselves all over the place.
I am honestly impressed over the storyline. Albeit slow paced with a bit too many points of views it certainly was like nothing I’ve ever read before. Anyone who can make a story one of a kind in both the characters and plot has my respect and usually I find myself liking or even loving the book. In this case, I had too much difficulty getting through the story til the end, one of the reasons the things I mentioned above.
I always prefer having one main character because it means I get to delve more deeply into that person’s life, conflicts, relationships and emotions. When there is several POVS like this, it only scrapes the surface of those involved characters. That isn’t to say It can’t go deeper. I have read this style before and enjoyed it much. With immortal’s requiem however, the characters depth was sacrificed somewhat for setting descriptions and long rants that made me space out and forget what I was reading about. That was also what made it feel so slow paced, especially when I had to reread parts because I kept spacing out. When the different characters paths started to cross and meet it finally picked up and got more interesting.
As the story moved along I even got some more depth to some character, my favorite being Cam. He was funny and ironically very human in his masked despair for fear of death. I could really feel for him when it came to his shitty relationship with his father. I also felt the unfairness of things left unresolved between them on a more personal level and I just couldn’t help myself hating his dad for how he treated Cam. The character I hated the most however was Sam. How he turned on his wife without second thought. It was really fascinating to see him evolve and develop from this normal human guy with a great love for his wife to this manic psychotic alien monster. The descriptions and writing was amazing and, despite the paranormal aspect, very realistic of how it would look like in real life. Even Mark brought som insight of how immortality really looks like and it was very different than the romanized side I often find in books. Marks life showed immortality as an actual curse, which I think it would be in reality as well.
I can recognize good writing, world- and character build in this book so I know that Vincent Bobbe deserves the title Author. This book sadly just didn’t speak to me. It became a scheduled task/job for me reading this book til the last page and that just isn’t ideal for a book lover like me. I can see on amazon and goodreads that a lot of readers enjoyed it, so it’s safe to say that there is noting really wrong with the story. I was just not the right person to read it.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance complimentary copy of this book.
Immortals’ Requiem by Vincent Bobbe is a wild fantastical ride in a horrific setting filled with creatures made of nightmares. This is a story that is so terrifying that I could barely read it, and definitely couldn’t put it down. The characters in this book range from mortals to monsters of every kind. They are immortals waging war against one another and it is one scary battle. Characters are being killed off and blood is everywhere.
There are several plot lines that come together like an intricate puzzle. It flows nicely, is easy to follow along and keep up with the pace – which is extremely fast. Told in the third person of the different creatures, I found it to be extraordinary that the author could pull it off the way he did. This book is not for the faint of heart. It is perfect for those that love great storytelling coupled with dark minded, frightening creatures that are relentless and blood thirsty.
The world building in this otherworldly book is nothing less than brilliant. Vincent Bobbe has created vivid scenes, situations and locations full of supernatural beings, vampires, elves, shapeshifters, fairies, zombies, giants, etc. He has taken the fae world and put it all into one outstanding book. I felt like I was there watching on as the story unfolded. His descriptive writing had me on the scene, and Immortals’ Requiem is unlike anything I have ever read.
With a hand full of major characters, we follow along as the story unfolds in modern day England. The characters are complex and well developed. For a dark fantasy, they are extremely believable and realistic. Because of the masterful way this book is written, the entire story is believable and realistic. The characters are not without emotion, and the book brought up feelings that were relatable to me. It is a violent and graphic novel with an original premise and idea. Vincent Bobbe has won this reader over and Artisan Book Reviews highly recommends Immortals’ Requiem by Vincent Bobbe to all lovers of grimdark fantasy and horror.
