Do you love Anne Rice vampires. Then Immortal is a book just for you. It’s action packed from the beginning and a great lead in novel to the varcolac series. Great world building.
I loved this book. This book is amazing! Natasha aka Blaze just a Vampire?Lol,not even close! Blaze is the supernatural’s equivalent of our Boogeyman. All supernatural’s fear her.She is a Vampire with the special ability to channel fire. This book has hybrids, vampires, werewolves, witches and far. And to pull it altogether is a love story bathed in blood. If paranormal is your go to genre, this book is for you.
Omg I love this the storyline is not your run of the mill u guys have to check it out
amazing!! blaze/Natasha is a superb character with an amazing plot! the storyline is intriguing and engaging. it draws you in right from the first page and keeps you there. before you know it you’ve read the whole book. I can’t wait to read more if what happens to Natasha !!
Having never read Ping’s work before I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was fantasy/paranormal – my genre
The first few chapters I had to read a couple of times to fully understand what was happening. Once I got the rhythm I was a goner! The storyline jumps between the present and the past.
The author sets up a strong foundation for the running plotline and by the end, I was comfortable with the factions, some of the myths and was following the clue trails with eager abandonment- Seriously I was bummed I only had book one at the time – I probably would have read the series through
However, by the end even with some of the reveals (oh, and some biggies were revealed) so many secrets still remained.
The story is fast-paced and a lot is going on but it does all tie together really really well at the end – this is a series so it is to be continued – not really a cliff hanger
Our main character Natasha has so many facets to her and I have so many questions about her.
The secondary characters are so well written. Each brings something to the story that is essential – not just fluff
The story itself is full of action and little nuggets of suspense
If you enjoy strong storylines that take place in uniquely crafted universes
Vivid characters that capture your heart (or turn your stomach)
This is for you
There are a few editing issues – My reason for the loss of rating
This is an interesting introduction to a world that I want to read more about. I enjoyed this book and found it to be a good read for me.
I actually read books 2 and 3 before this book. So, for me, this book was like a blast from the past for the series. I felt I was blindsided by the same-sex relations of Cassandra and Natasha. I would hope authors were thoughtful enough to let readers know of things like that in their book so readers have a choice of the content they want to ingest. The other books were not like that, so I didn’t think this one would be any different. There were also editing issues that an editor can easily fix. I felt that there was a good storyline, but there were things that could have been fleshed out more. I understood the issues Natasha had with herself, but at times, it felt like it was being dragged out too long. I found myself skimming parts. The story has many different points of view. It also jumps from past incidents to the present, and they are labeled. I had lots of questions after the end; questions that were not answered in the other books. I received a free copy from BookSprout. My review is my own opinion. 2.5 stars
An interesting story and take on vampires and werewolves. I involves Natasha, who needs to be turned into a vampire but when she does she looses all memory and thus begins a wild ride as secrets must be uncovered as the story is all stitched together to try and figure out what Natasha and the others are hiding. Was interesting and kept me reading to see what would be revealed.
Immortal: Guardian of Monsters (Varcolac Novel Book 1) is a fascinating read. Typically I’m not too fond of books that jump from the past to the future as a means to not only give context but to develop characters. However, in this story, it works. It gives us insight into the characters and helps to explain current-day actions in a way that makes everything come together. It also makes sense as vampires emphasize that time means nothing to them. The characters are also quite interesting as we are introduced to Varcolocs, a new hybrid of supernatural beings thought to be a myth. There is an awesome mix of beings in this book, including powerful witches, vampires, werewolves, djinns, and shifters. Some of the supernatural beings’ powers are quite extraordinary and become important weapons as the battle between good and evil wages on. I read this book pretty quickly as there is a lot of drama, romance, supernatural action, some surprising twists, and a very intricate storyline that will continue to play out in future books. This book ends with a few teaser chapters from the next book in the series entitled Mine Immortal: Guardian of Monsters (Varcolac Novel Book 1). Those chapters were enough to make me want to purchase the book.

I really enjoyed this, it was a unique story with sometimes funny characters. It had a different take on the vampire and werewolf lore wich I appreciated. Will continue to read this series!
I found this to be a unique take on vampires with a lot of good ideas. Natasha’s backstory and her mysterious motive for becoming a vampire were quite interesting but too much time was spent on Natasha’s regrets rather than actions. There were a lot of editing errors but I didn’t detract for those. The storyline was five stars while the pacing and some character development were three stars. The editing of this book was not the greatest but the storyline was great. This goes back and forth from past to present but it transitions pretty seamlessly. I would definitely read the next book.

Great read!!! This has been in my TBR for a bit and finally got to it! Love love love it! Well written characters and a story that sucks you in you won’t want to put it down!!
Good story about Blaze and an exciting ending which leads to the next book. I received an ARC copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The story line and character work were good. The book did not have a smooth flow to it. I think with some refining and editing this book could go from okay to great.

This was such a sad story about Natasha’s life. Natasha has a need to be turned into a vampire. She has to live forever. But as soon a Cassandra, the coven leader, turns her she can’t remember her previous life. Cassandra has wiped her memories in order to use her because Natasha has special ability. Flames come out of her hands and she can torch anything. For years and years Cassandra uses her, and turns her into an unfeeling killing machine. She kills werewolves and even other vampires if she gets angry or they betray her. She even ends up killing a friend from her past but she doesn’t remember her. And then something happens to change her and she just wants to die. But Cassandra still wants to use her and forces her to live. And for decades Cassandra lets other supernaturals believe Natasha is still responsible for all of the killings that have continued, so now everyone is coming for Natasha to kill her. Can she ever recover her lost memories and remember why she wanted to become a vampire before she loses her life? I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review
