Immaculate will stick with you long after you finish reading making you think of even more disturbing layers and “what ifs”. Just when I thought nothing could surprise me anymore, Cain comes through and shocks me completely!
This was so utterly depraved that I think I need to scrub my brain with a metal brush. If I had actually been religious, I would definitely need to do a confession. But not with Cardinal Beluni! Even when writing something so wrong, Addison Cain writes in such an amazing way, that you are spellbound to the end. Please reconsider before reading, as this might not be your cup of tea.
Immcaulate is a deeply twisted and thoroughly engaging read. Addison Cain builds a world around her main character, Agnese, that feels real and filled with history, and yet is personal and distinctly unique. I enjoyed the immersion in what felt like a historical fiction and was titillated by the dark events that unfolded in and around that snapshot of history. As always, Addison’s language is rich and evocative and I found myself wanting more from this strangely sweet and strong character.
Considering the religious setting and involvement in this story, it is not for the faint of heart and certainly not for those who are offended by dark depictions of religion and religious figures. For the rest of us, enjoy!
Doesn’t shy from the darkness. This is 100% Addison Cain; exposes the darkest thoughts the rest of us try to avoid. There is nothing romantic or even particularly sexy here. If your a fan of the bound series or wrens song, this is not going to leave you satisfied, but it fits nicely into the entire span of works by the author.
This is one of addison’s more twisted stories (it sits below catacombs for me).
She explores the dark side of fanaticism and how it affects the most vulnerable. But as always there is a twist that will leave you breathless.
This is not for the light hearted. Addison cain is an evil genius
This book will screw with your head so hard! So twisted, I could totally imagine this happening.
This is the dark story of a young woman raised in Italy centuries ago to be a pious young woman. In the name of her faith, she is treated brutally by her mother and others. It is a tough story to read but one that is very well written and captures the brutality she faces. It is a very haunting tale.
I was provided a review copy of the story.
It’s the story of self discovery through a turn of a terrifying event. The MC starts out as young, innocent, naive and full of hope. After seeing how men and women are outside her sheltered home, does she truly see the world for what it is. This is no happy story and will keep you on the edge of your seat wishing you could not read what you are reading but not able to stop.
Darkly depraved and would make a great extended novel.
This story made me glad I’m an atheist!
I’ve always known that the dark underbelly of holier-than-thou exists, but having it put into words so mesmerizing, brings that belief uncomfortably, hypnotically into focus.
As always Ms Cain makes you ask yourself why am I reading this? This is gruesome, uncomfortable, makes me angry, sad, feel sick, and still you can’t put this thing down until the end! And after the while you need to get back to your normal state of mind you wonder what she’ll come up with next to completely destroy your belief system.
Now I need to shower! Long and hot!
Holy Crap! I’m gonna have to go to confession after reading that baby!
This story is twisted and taboo. Completely dark and forbidden.
One that will leave your mouth hanging open and have you thinking, did I seriously just read that. Then you’re gonna be like.. hmm, maybe I should read it again and again.
This is a must read if you’re a fan of naughty stories!
I’m still thinking about it. I finished yesterday and had daymares and nightmares about it.
This was disturbing on so many levels. Just the thought that this or something similar could had happened some time in the past left me thinking.
This story was awfully wrong and I couldn’t stop reading it.
This story was so consuming. I couldn’t stop reading it. When I started reading I couldn’t put it down. Addison Cain is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. I am always trapped by her words and love to read all she books. Story does not disappoint and will leave you gasping for more.
Ladies and Gentlemen… we have a winner for worlds darkest, most twisted story written to date! Seriously… OMG…. I can’t even write a review about how dark this story is if I want this review to get published… LOL. All I can say… this book is NOT for readers just coming into the world of dark romance and horror. It WILL push your boundaries. It WILL make you uncomfortable. It will make you squirm in your seat while you read it… And you WILL LOVE every word of it!
This is the first time that I had to take a day after reading the book before I sat down to write my review. This book definitely pushed every boundary I have. While I am usually fairly liberal with seeing romance even in the darkest of places, this book is NOT a romance in any shape of form. The events described in the book are harrowing, most of the characters are despicable, evil, or both, there is no light here only darkness lives on these pages. Addison Cain’s ability to suck the reader into a dark and depraved world and keep him there long after the book has been finished is uncanny. Her writing is beautiful even when the subject matter is anything but.
This is some sick, but beautiful writing. It hit close to home that belies careful preparation and research on the ubiquitous matter. Not even a vacation in balmy paradise among the cayes will save my soul of the decadent wickedness I just read. It’s not light “chic lit” reading, but it is captivating, fast-paced and perfectly harrowing in the endless suffering and defilement depicted in these pages. While this isn’t a typical story I would normally read, my goodness I am richer for it. Like the common theme of hopelessness, I am now left reflecting on what my tastes in literature say about me. Like the last line in Addison Cain’s offering, this is the kind of haunting that never leaves.
Addison Cain never ceases to amaze me. The level of depravity Cain conjures in her writing constantly pushes boundaries. Immaculate was one of the most twisted stories I have read in some time. I loved every minute of it! What starts as a tale of pious chastity, not something Cain usually produces, turns itself into the monster from your worst Sunday school nightmares. Cain masters the dark with this one.
What a dark and twisted tale. Despite how the tale only went further down the rabbit hole I was pulled in until the end. And beware the end is no where near a HEA.
I didn’t know what to expect.
Addison Cain is easily my favorite author and I couldn’t wait to read Immaculate, but the opening prose for the story threw me off entirely. It was heavy, laden in periodic verse (that leant context and told a much bigger story). This was not the quick page burner that I was used to from Addison. That’s not to say that a few pages in, I couldn’t bear to stop reading. This story develops quickly and is almost entirely character development of one individual, something that Addison has always excelled at. Lady Agnese is her best character yet.
Agnese Aremici is simple; and yet, so complicated. She’s been raised pious, devote, and alone. She’s never indulged in emotion or fodder. She’s never known warmth, physically or emotionally. One day everything changes for Agnese. The fate she’d always known would be her own came to collect though it was a far cry from the experience she had imagined. Shame, guilt, Catholic guilt destroy her fortitude in seconds when she learns the truth. When she is stripped before God.
I cannot recommend this read enough. It’s not a HEA. There is no light at the end of the tunnel. The story is a non-con/submission tale and leaves no room for doubt about that. If you embrace the darkness, this “innocence lost” read is the story for you.
Oh. My. God. This story was so disturbing and all consuming. I couldn’t stop reading it. What a mind you have Addison Cain. I am grateful. I am always trapped by her words and love anything she writes. This will disturb you in the very best way. Now, I’ll definitely need to read the entire book.
