“Imhotep” is the first book in a four-novel series about the ancient Egyptian architect. Stumbling in the dark of an unfinished tomb beneath the sands of Saqqara, American tourist Tim Hope unknowingly passes through a time portal that leads to ancient Egypt — a time before the Sphinx, before the great pyramids of Giza, and long before the loss of his beloved Addy. When he discovers that two … that two other Americans preceded him through the time portal, Tim immerses himself in the ancient world to search for them. As he becomes more comfortable with the simpler, more immediate land, he finds himself irresistibly attracted to the delicate Meryt, a wbt-priestess for the god Re.
Learning that a seven-year famine has led to a plot to overthrow King Djoser, Tim discovers that his fate, the lives of the two Americans and the future of Egypt rest in the hands of the legendary Imhotep, master architect of the Step Pyramid, renowned physician and intimate adviser to King Djoser.

Very creative historical fiction built around the usual suspension of dis-belief, but built very well by an excellent craftsman.
Loved the historical perspective. The characters were interesting and it made me want to pick up the next book in the series.
This was a wonderful story and I enjoyed it!! The characters became people I could visualize and the style of writing and descriptiveness is excellent. Read it!!
I enjoyed the story and it was a good length. It was well imagined with clever ideas mixing the modern world with ancient Egypt. At times it was raw and gritty but the story held my attention.
Wow! Brings ancient egypt alive and makes you smell the nile and hear the hippos roar. Fabulous characters from our time and the ancient time. Wonderful, im so glad I read it. I dont want to give away the story – I want you to enjoy without any spoilers
I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am looking forward to reading the second one in the series.
A great time travel book, well researched. So good I bought the four book series at a low price. On the third book now can’t put it down!
If you like historical novels, this is a MUST READ for you. Without giving the plot away, 3 Americans on vacation in Egypt find themselves transported to ancient t Egypt , 5000 years ago. Well written, with lots of unexpected twists & turns, you will look forward to reading every page!
Historic science fiction to a degree
Tim is studying ancient Egyptian ruins when he doesn’t see 2 people return from an off limits trip in a tomb. He waits 2 days and enters the tomb finds a passage to another time (when the tomb was being built).
A very different take on the famous ancient builder Imhotep.
First book was great. Second slow. The third picked back up but not enough to hold enough interest for me to read the fourth. The well done interpretation of 4000 year old daily life and culture with an overlay of interesting plot lines and characters is worth the read.
Very interesting book based on fact. I enjoyed reading about how life probably was back then. I recommend it.
A unique approach to sound research of early Egyptian culture and artifacts. Strong character development and creative life scenarios orchestrated to carry the story. Very fun, entertaining read.
Taking a real person and inventing him on the spot.really a cool idea
Really did NOT expect to like this book but found myself having a hard time putting it down. Was interested in the characters – some I detested, one I could just shake with frustration, some I cheered on, one just stunned me and kept coming back, time after time – nothing stopped him! I felt I knew the ending half way through but no, was different, …
Great story that combines ancient Egyptian history with interesting, characters living out their own life stories.
Makes an unlikely premise believable and the descriptions of ancient Egypt were fascinating.
Just about finished….going on and on with too many characters. Can’t wait to finish. Just OK
I liked the characters. Interesting read.
